The Tropicana Las Vegas really knows how to make a lasting impression. From the moment I checked in, I could tell this was a hotel that took bold, innovative approaches to hospitality—though in retrospect, I probably should have picked up on a few red flags. But more on that later. First, the positives. The rooms were spacious, with a unique “open-air” design (though I’m not sure if the constant drafts were intentional or if they just really embraced nature). The ambiance of crumbling plaster gave the whole place a charming “urban decay chic” vibe. It was clear they were going for something edgy, even if the floors sloped at odd angles and the water pressure seemed a little too reminiscent of a trickling mountain stream. The staff? Wonderful! Though they were oddly hasty with checkout procedures and seemed quite intent on making sure I vacated by a specific hour. “Leave early for a big surprise!” they said. I thought it was some sort of city-wide event I wasn’t in on, not realizing the real surprise was already under my feet. The final night of my stay was when things got… interesting. Around midnight, I noticed a strange rumbling beneath the building. At first, I thought, “Wow, this hotel really goes the extra mile with immersive sound effects.” You could hear what sounded like drills, jackhammers, and distant explosions—like living inside an action movie! The vibrations made my bed shake in a way that most hotels charge extra for. Top marks for that! Things escalated quickly when, around 2 AM, the walls started coming down. I assumed this was part of some avant-garde performance art installation—a bold metaphor for dismantling the barriers between us and luxury. The entire tower started to collapse floor by floor, and let me tell you, the adrenaline rush from dodging debris in the lobby was an unforgettable experience! Some hotels offer a nightcap; this one gave me an impromptu demolition derby. It wasn’t until I was standing in a cloud of dust and twisted metal that it hit me: they were demolishing the place. And here I thought the crashing towers were just their way of reminding us all that luxury is fleeting, much like life itself. Very deep, Tropicana. Very deep. I’d give them five stars for effort, but my luggage is still buried under the rubble. Would I stay here again? Well, if they rebuild, I’ll be back for sure—just hopefully not during their next “renovation.”

Well, I have to give it to them—this hotel really blew me away. Literally. After a long, exhausting day of travel, I arrived at what was supposed to be my sanctuary, only to find that the hotel had been imploded earlier that morning. I guess they wanted to surprise me with their “open concept” design. The check-in process? Non-existent. The room? More spacious than I could have imagined—mostly because it didn’t exist anymore. However, the fresh air and the new skyline views of crumbled concrete were quite stunning. On the plus side, parking was a breeze—there were no walls to worry about, so I could park anywhere! The staff was also easy to find… well, pieces of them anyway (no worries, they were on break during the demolition).

Update, 5/2024: this hotel was demolished to make way for a new sports arena. I’m sad about it because of the history.😞Dated and funky rooms but lovely staff The room we got initially was 1101, at the end of the hall on the 11th floor, where there was some kind of leak - smelled like sewage! We told the desk about it and they moved us to a comparable room a few floors down. The furnace/AC filter was BLACK. Change those every couple months, folks, especially if you have breathing issues. The staff here were all lovely. The casino, as mentioned in other reviews, wasn’t super busy here. This hotel just got acquired by Hilton, so, I’ll be curious to see what they do with it. It desperately needs new carpet and updated furniture, but we liked that we can open the windows and check out the view of the strip. This hotel has a rich mob history - check it out on wiki, if you’re into that.

The stay at this location was on 10/3/2024. My wife and I chose this location due to the proximity to the airport; we had a 0500 flight out the next morning. After we dropped our bag's off in the room; we went to lunch and dropped off the rental car. Once we returned we took some time to relax for the next morning flight. We had not been resting for more than 30 or so minutes when we heard a very loud bang in the room next to ours. Then a child crying and whaling; it may have seemed the child may have been thrown up against the wall several times. I opened our door and another guest asked myself if I have heard the commotion going on in the room next to ours? Yes I did to the guest. I was going to contact the front desk or 911; in case of any injuries'. When I went back into our room; my wife was very shaken and upset about what had happened. At this point we may have occupied the room no more than 2 hours. To calm my wife, we moved to another hotel. After moving to another motel and getting my wife settled and secured in the room; I went back to Motel 6 to turn in the key-card into the front desk. The desk clerk offered to move us to another room; but my wife did not want to stay due to the incident. When I got back to the new hotel I called the customer line of Motel 6; the agent was very understanding, and would work to get our funds refunded. Well I got a call later in the day from the manager "Debbie" who was very rude and short with myself, and would only refund 50 percent of the price of the room (which we were in the room no more than 2 hours). And she accused us of using the shower. which we did not!!!!! *** Do not stay at this location; there were liquor bottles, beer bottles, trash that was lying around, and homeless people hanging around (which is a big problem for Las Vegas). The door to the room was so ill fitted I could see the sun through the jam of the door (not a very secure door). THIS IS NOT A SAFE LOCATION TO STAY AT FOR A FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!

Tropicana hotel is actively being demolished. The legendary Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas is getting ready to take its final bow, and what a grand exit it will be! Picture this: the neon lights that once dazzled gamblers and showgirls are about to flicker out for the last time, only to make way for a spectacular demolition extravaganza. The iconic spot, known for its old-school Vegas charm, will go out with a bang, leaving behind a dust cloud of memories, poker chips, and cocktail napkins. As bulldozers line up like gladiators in the arena, the Tropicana's final act promises to be as show-stopping as any performance on the Strip, making way for Vegas’ next wild adventure. Out with the old, in with the over-the-top!

I have some very bad news for you!! I knew that the Trop will be imploded on October 9, 2024 at 2:30 AM, very early in the morning. I heard that the implosion date changed twice, initially it was October 2 at 2 AM, then changed to October 8, also at 2 AM. Then it changed once again to the final date! Prior to the implosion, there will be fireworks and a drone show. On April 2, 2024 (right after April Fools' Day), the Trop closes its doors for good (not an April Fools joke) at noon, 2 days before its 67th anniversary. I know the Trop was a 67 year old hotel. The Trop is the third oldest casino on the Strip and also one of the few remaining casinos during the city's mob era. The Trop is my favorite hotel. Before the implosion, the demo crew took about 5 months to dismantle the hotel, leaving the towers' frames behind for implosion. The reason why the Trop is getting demolished because they wanted to build a new $1.5 billion Major League Baseball stadium that will be the new home of the Oakland Athletics. Construction of the stadium will begin sometime in April 2025, one year later after closure and it will be completed by sometime in 2028, just in time for the 2028 season. Before the construction, you will just see an empty lot where the Trop used to stand. If you like the Trop like me, you will think something is missing, "Hey, where did the Trop go? This doesn't feel right at all!" I have also heard that a new Bally's will be built along with the stadium. Why do they wanted to build another stadium, at this location by destroying the Trop, just why out of anything. They should build that stadium in an empty lot or something instead of destroying the Trop. We stayed at the Trop for 2 nights, right after Christmas Day in 2022, not knowing the hotel will get demolished 2 years later. Before we went to Vegas, we stayed in Los Angeles for 2 nights. We left LA at 11 AM, making our way to Vegas. It supposed to take about 4 hours to drive to Vegas from LA, but there was a very bad traffic jam, lasting into the night time. We got stuck in traffic for many many hours, before getting to Vegas. We even tried to bypass the traffic by exiting random roads and finding our way back to the freeway. At 11 PM, late at night, we have arrived in Vegas, checking in to the Trop very late! Our parking spot every time was in front of the bungalows. The doors that leads right into the bungalows are key carded, so we had entered through the front entrance the first night and check in. We stayed in the winter, so that the pool is closed. It was very sad that we did not experience the pool area at all, that this was our only time visiting and staying at the Trop. We are very lucky that we picked the Trop as the hotel we would stayed at. I am very sorry to see the Trop go! Farewell, Tropicana! I will miss you a lot!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I just wanted to see what they are building in the land where the Trop stood in the years coming! I really wanted to know!

We stayed at the Tropicana for just one night back in October '23, on Halloween weekend. And honestly, our stay wasn't bad at all. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Check-In took a while, but that's what you get for coming here on a Saturday. There's not many food options, but since you are located directly on the strip, getting food shouldn't be a problem for anyone. The MGM Grand f.e. is located on the other side of the street and has tons of options. The downsides of our stay were the very unmotivated staff (but to be fair, I would be too if my workplace was set to be demolished..), the rather rundown & ugly exterior / interior, and a leaking bathtub in our room. However for the price we paid, this is something you can disregard. All-in all, this might not be the best choice of hotel, but it's definitely not the worst either. Goodbye, Tropicana.

Untrustworthy people on the front desk. Having left a gift for a shortly arriving relative, said gift had 'disappeared' a few hours later, then reappeared when pressed, with a few things missing. I get that the place is being demolished and the staff don't care anymore, but it doesn't detract from the fact it's shameful and just plain theft.

Because they are closing they have forgotten about what customer service is. I was getting some chips from a poker dealer and he screwed me out of $5. I told myself I was not going to worry about it, but it is burning in my brain...bigtime!!!!!! Also you pay a resort fee but the pool area is closed and unkept. Not a great experience!!!!!

Unfortunately the Tropicana will be closing forever in about 1-2 weeks. It will then be demolished to make room for the new A's baseball stadium.

Not the Tropicana I remember, but probably why they are closing April 2nd... I believe there are talks about a new arena in its place. I must say the service by the skeleton crew left behind was great! There just wasn't enough to meet the demand.

Going to be so sad to see this go. This was the go to pool and hotel of my childhood. It's rather run down outside now but the inside is still awesome. Would be great to keep the stained glass area at whatever they build there instead. They should buy the oyo next door as well when they do a full remodel of the grounds.

This hotel is going to be taken down in a few days and it was still a great sleep. Not the fanciest but a good sleep. Was only there for 7 hours. Didn’t do anything except sleep.

Well where to start...im not one for writing reviews...but I do feel this time one is needed if only to educate and train staff how to be accommodating and professional. Myself and my husband travelled down to Louth on Christmas Eve.. after looking at local places to eat on boxing day we decided to book for lunch at the woolpack. We had popped in on Christmas eve for one drink a nd the young girl behind the bar was very imporfmative when my husband asked what beer she recommended...she pointed to a table that we could sit on..which was helpful in a busy pub. On Boxing day...totally different..the young girl at the bar looked as miserable as hell when we approached the bar..no smile or welcoming hello...or ask if we are eating...just a sour face as she pulled someone's pint...not even a curtious. Acknowledgement to us to say...it wouldn't be long untill we are served...the other four young staff at end of bar ...just standing chatting totally oblivious.... She then asked us what we wanted...pint of Guinness and proseco...still no smile...then she pointed to a table to her left without looking and said...yr table is over there! Wow...not the best welcome so far. We went to the table she said she would bring drinks over....I popped to the loo..my husband was at table..she came to table plonked my glass and bottle on table...didn't offer to open or pour ..then she brought my husbands Guinness.. yes that is a drink that has to settle but her whole demeanor was rude to say the least. She didn't even ask if we wanted to order our lunch...or wait and let them know...no explanation of how we order...or if specials are on a board somewhere...but after seeing other staff take orders from tables..we waited...and waited...and waited...and then 45 mins is sufficient and way to long to sit ...I can't even say the place was that busy to warrant that length of time...we hadn't paid for our drinks because they would of been added to our meal bill...so we went up to the bar and asked to pay for the two drinks we had..she asked where we was sat because she needed the number to close the tab, now the place isn't a massive dining area and our table was in the bar area next to the bar lol..and at this point she should of asked is there a reason to why we was leaving...nope...even getting our drinks bill seemed a task. Now to some of you reading this you may think I'm being harsh...I don't say any of this light hearted...I have worked over 30yrs in the hospitality business...from the pot washer to kitchen to front of house...and to see the hospitality struggling and on its knees to survive...with raising costs by suppliers which they have no choice to put on the customer ...to the cost of living crisis..what use to be a regular treat families would enjoy a meal out but sadly now not the case...thats why I feel very let down on the service my self and my hubby received...we arnt picky people...dont ask for much but a warm welcome and a smile and basic information of what we need to know about the Woolpack. Louth is full of friendly welcoming people we've met in the other establishments nearby...such a shame The Woolpack wasn't one of them...yes the majority of the staff that day where young...looked like they didn't want to be there...and I get that...but it's best they are not if they don't want to give customers a service they paying for...weve all been young and I'm a firm beliver that we all have to learn...but that young small girl behind the bar clearly couldn't be bothered and that's the problem...you can educate and train the ones that do...and they hopefully go on to gain a passion and want to find a career in the industry....before it dies off completely 😉

We had a few days away by the coast between Christmas and New Year, and fish and chips are a must for us. The Dolphin provided us with warmth, great service, and friendly staff. The fish and chips, mushy peas, curry sauce, and veggie options for my family members were great. An absolute bonus was The Dolphin being a dog friendly establishment. Our visit set us all up for our walk back along the beach to our rental. Thank you.

Nice pub on the outskirts of chapel st leonards. Does a limited food menu. Has regular quizzes on a Wednesday and does put on some entertainment. Good beer.
