Me and my friend called here after a walk for some lunch and it was amazing. The food was so fresh, everything was really well presented and tasted delicious. The service was really good and efficient. The barn outside was lovely and cosy, especially with the burning log fire. The milkshakes were so good. Would 100% recommend and will definitely be returning.

The perfect family friendly pub, with separate play area for the children to play in which they loved (aged 4 & 5), the staff were friendly, very helpful and made my daughters 16th birthday meal extra special. In our party there was 6 adults and 2 children - great grandad loved his fish and chips and his great grandson loved his children's sized steak. I thought that there was a good range of meals available which were all reasonable priced. The kids meal deal was a lot cheaper than other pubs I've been to, portions were spot on for them catering for every taste. What made the evening even more special - the staff brought birthday cake out all singing happy birthday to the birthday girl, she was even given a free birthday mocktail which made her feel very grown up! We have been a few times to the pub and haven't had any complaints with the food or service for a Saturday night it was quite empty but it had a really nice personal atmosphere. Will definitely be going back again

Beautiful space for sure. I have been here several times (and recommended it highly in the past) but this visit was very disappointing. Suited and booted with my girlfriend, only to have a close-by table being allowed to play cards clattering dice across their table...and probably 50%+ of the customers in jeans, trainers etc. A place this classy should have a dress code and a behaviour code, especially on a Saturday night. I did email the restaurant but not a single acknowledgement or response, which is very poor PR, and exactly why I am reviewing here No wonder it was, at best, half-full

Never write bad reviews but used to love coming here and recommended it to friends. Arrived at 6.30pm and to be fair, it was bit busy. We were put in back area where it was just us there and it was very cold and felt miserable. Asked woman on reception if we could have table in the corner where it felt cosy & was simply told it was booked. I said it was my husband's birthday (it was) so just wanted a bit of atmosphere & she said "you should have booked then". No politeness. I nicely explained we'd been to see family & didnt know our timings. I'm apologising!!!! Now I've worked in hospitality & you could have said..."do you mind waiting for a table to come free?" Or "sorry we're busy but we'll find something soon." Ordered drinks and then a table came free so we asked for that and was told..."that's booked". . We then saw another table near bar and asked for that one. "Oh...I'll have to check..." waited, waited. Given the table. I had no drink left & asked for wine list. In the time it took to order food and for it to arrive...not asked about drinks. The steak frites was awful. Measly portion of meat and bland colour. I've had this at Church Inn (a Robbies pub) and it was fantastic. Was given dessert menu but again waited ages so just asked for the bill. By the way...the table in the corner was still empty!!! Other couples who came in were not put in the back room where we'd been put. Stayed polite throughout but won't be going back.
