4 of us went at 4pm for Sunday lunch, service was quite poor, food was totally unacceptable, yorkshires were cold, stuffing uncooked, needed a saw for the beef, veg were all cold, gravy was pretty good. We go here and The George quite often but was embarrassed taking friends here for such a poor experience. Did I complain, no, I had enough of a problem paying the bill, asked 3 times for the bill and had to go to bar to pay. This place is on a downward slide.

A first class experience, from when we arrived to leaving. Friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our table was in a lovely cosy location. My wife and both chose the Christmas pie with bubble and squeak. Excellent choice - Christmas dinner (turkey. pigs in blanket, stuffing and gravy) in a beautiful suet crust pasty. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Individual pies were too big to eat in one meal, so staff wrapped up the rest for a cold snack later, with pickles and cheese maybe. More mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Desserts were unbelievable (drunken fruit) - never has an orange tasted so good. Worth far more "mmm's" than space allows. Thank you all for the service. Happy Christmas to you all. See you in 2025. F & A.

We had booked a meal online through the Fishermen's Mission offer, and we are so glad we did so - even though it involved a round trip from Edinburgh! Beautiful restaurant - so tastefully decorated with little touches such as fish wallpaper in the toilets! Superb view of the sea - and as it was early March the waves were spectacular. All the staff were so welcoming and explained the various dishes in great detail. We started with the raw cured and pickled selection - and having always preferred cooked fish, this has converted me! So delicately flavoured and so fresh. Basically we tasted everything on the menu. All of the fish were beautifully cooked (Dover sole, john dory, hake and brill) and presented and the sauces and accompaniments were mouthwatering. Particularly loved loved the jerusalem artichoke and langoustine sauce with the hake. The desserts were also delicious and we opted for the cheese as well. All in all an absolutely perfect meal! I hope we manage to repeat the experience!

This is not my visit to this delightful coaching inn. My brother was visiting from Australia, so I booked for us and our Dad for dinner. We were greeted by the lovkey Laura who always makes you feel welcome, as do any of the other members of the front of house team. We all enjoyed starters, mains and made sure we left room for a delicious dessert. James’s cooking is sublime, our food was delicious, beautifully cooked and well presented. I love the atmosphere here, it’s gentle, relaxing and allows for conversation to flow no matter how busy the inn is. This place is a gem and if you’re in the area then I recommend anyone to book a table and visit to enjoy some delicious food.

We went for Trust the Chef last night and it was so good. We all enjoyed every course- the brisket was delicious, the smoked butter extraordinarily good and the chocolate pudding divine. The chef is amazing. And the waitress was fabulous! Thankyou.
