Unfortunately this should have been a fabulously evening but was ruined on two counts. Firstly it was freezing! This venue has no heating. There was a 2 bar heater in the restaurant which conducted no heat. We all kept our coats on. The same for the cinema. There was a larger heater but it wasn't switched on!!! The seats were metal with no padding but we were at least provided with blankets. Secondly the food which was only adequate and the desert was ice cream!!! Really? Apart from the fact it's winter and freezing cold, this was a cheap option. Such a shame. The lovely staff apologised for the cold and took £5 each off the bill. The temperature was under 10 degrees. In any other location the place would have been closed. Please install heating if you expect your staff and clients to enjoy your establishment.

I and my friend went to the cafe first time just to have some tea and coffee and have some chat. We walked in at 1.15 pm on Saturday. Ordered our food and drinks. Then at 1.45 we been told that we need to live by 2pm as they are having a private party. They didn't have any info about it. He didn't tell us about it before we ordered. We had to leave at 2 pm and find somewhere else, much more welcoming place to stay. Also, the table cloth was dirty, earl gray tea didn't come in teapot. Latte came in a small cappuccino cup. Sandwich came with some crisps and apple pie was half-broken. I guess I wouldn't pick on those small things, but because they didn't let us know about the private party, and we had to leave so quick, we saw all the other things. Sad really. I was expecting much more from this place

I visited just for a morning coffee and read of the papers. It is a cafe upstairs and a tiny cinema downstairs (19 seats). The cinema part is called the Colosseum (maybe with a sense of irony?) The cafe has a wonderful atmosphere with lots of film posters and photos. The coffee was very tasty, very friendly service and nice background music (and not too loud). I will definitely visit again.

I have been here quite a few times now, mainly to watch rugby or football on the big screen. It is such a perfect place to take a few mates, have a few drinks and sit back and relax. I have both booked the venue for a private party and just popped in to watch a couple of six nations games. There is always a great atmosphere.. The owner, Paul, is a top guy and is more than happy to accommodate any needs you may have. Highly, Highly recommended.

This is totally what happened and I am not exaggerrating a thing. The seats were wrought iron chairs usually used in gardens and were extremely uncomfortable and we were given cushions to sit on, on the chairs The "meal" was a disgustingly tasteless "lasagne" made allegedly of beef and pork. it was served up totally cold and my friend and I had to ask for it to be re-heated which it then was in the microwave! We went down to the cinema area which I asked before going down if it was warm down there, as I was going to leave my jacket upstairs, when the front door was locked. I was told that it woud be warm. Thank God I took my jacket down with me anyway because after an hour of watching the film, I realised that I felt freezing cold. There was NO HEATING DOWN THERE AT ALL!The seats in the cinema were also extremely uncomfortable.I read a review of the film "Steve Jobs" today, which I wish I had read before booking for it. The film review said it is a very "cold film", which, really matches the rest of the evening. The staff at "Lavish Life" (that name is a joke!!) have no idea of consideration to customer's requirements. There was no choice of meal, the orange juice I requested was served to me from a can of sparkling orange juice, and no hot drinks were offered. Also the bar man looked like he was completely under the influence of something and seemed like he was stoned. It is named a "Supper Club" but what they meant by the word "Club", I don't know. There wasn't a Club feel and the other people did not talk to snyone else there - just the person they came with - if anyone! When we went back upstairs, I told them how I felt about "Lavish Life" and that I would never be going back there again.Don't waste your money going there. Rent a film and watch it at home with a good take-away! It woud be cheaper, warmer and more comfortable!!!"Lavish Life"!? What's a joke!!!!!! .

I hired the small cinema also for my friends hen do in the afternoon to watch her favourite musical Mamma Mia. Since the beginning the whole team were more than helpful and quick at responding to emails and missed calls. They kept me informed of the whole process. Paul even rang the day before to ask of any last minute arrangements. When we arrive the team were fantastic. They laid out all the food we brought in. They even cut up the strawberries and added small sauces to them to make them more exciting for the ladies attending the hen do! They were absolutely brilliant. We have plans to do it again. Thank you all for making it a fabulous experience would highly recomment anyone to go!

I hired out the small cinema for my friend’s Abba themed hen party to which 24 of us attended! We had the most fabulous time - Paul & his team just couldn’t do enough for us. We started the night with a tasty meal in the café upstairs then went down to the small cinema to watch Mama Mia Sing-A-Long and play some games with plenty of drinks flowing throughout the night. The staff allowed us to decorate the whole venue as we pleased without restrictions, they joined in the fun with us and happily cleared up our mess at the end of the night. Everything went very smoothly, it was fantastic value for money & the bride-to-be had the time of her life. I cannot recommend it enough, thank you so much!

We are a local business based in Westbourne who have had a couple of doo's here now. We like the friendly staff, good food, fun atmosphere and this times film went down well with everyone. I did ask them about the negative comment put up on here. Apparently someone from a large local company who was tasked in organising a night out booked a party last min, didn't pay for it or a deposit and then came back to them a couple of days before and wanted to confirm but by then other people had booked in. We had a great time, thanks

We booked the venue for private hire, for a work event 4 weeks before the date required. Initially the gentleman I spoke to was very helpful; however it soon became apparent that this was not a well-managed business. The lack of communication and contact was so poor. I made numerous attempts to contact the cinema and left voicemails but no one returned my calls. Eventually 2 weeks before the event I managed to finally get hold of another gentleman, and He advised everything was booked in and that owner would be in contact with me soon to confirm the film we wanted was available, and to advise how to settle the deposit. I never received a phone call back. I did try emailing however the email address on the website was invalid and I kept receiving a rejection notice. I preceded to called every other day/ evening for over a week and still no one returned my calls and voicemails. I also tried to visit the cinema on 4 occassions but it was closed during the day. I finally received a call back on the day of the booking to advise that the booking couldn’t go ahead. The gentleman was rude and not apologetic. He told me that the booking wasn’t confirmed as a deposit hadn’t been paid, even though I contacted them countless times to try and make payment. He told me that engineers were in that afternoon changing a lamp ( even though our booking was for the evening). He also said the booking couldn’t go ahead as they didn’t have a working coffee machine (we weren’t bothered about coffee!). When I challenged this the man said the power would be off to fix the coffee machine, and it wouldn’t be back up in the evening. I expressed my disappointment that they had left it until the morning of the event to cancel, and not even a sincere apology or valid reason was provided. We fortunately were lucky enough to make last minute plan someone else, however you can imagine my surprise when we happened to walk past the cinema that evening and the lights were all on and working, and there were a few people working inside. It's such a shame as this could be a great unique venue if it wasn’t so disorganised and unprofessional!Avoid the trouble and go somewhere else!

I stumbled upon this place when out shopping with my mother in law, who was visiting us from Malvern in Worcestershire. It is unusual and has the smallest cinema in the country and art to buy or just enjoy whilst there. The waitress was very lovely and friendly and made the suggestion of their Dorset apple cake with clotted cream, I have never tasted better. We are definitely thinking of what to try next time.

Under great secrecy my sister organised a surprise 50th and 70th birthday 'gathering' for b.in law Paul and our mum Cherill this afternoon at Lavish Life in Westbourne Arcade, including exclusive use of both the cafe and their delightful cellar Colosseum Cinema, which claims to be (& probably is) the smallest public cinema in the UK. Drink & food were absolutely excellent, everything reasonably priced considering the location and the staff bent over backwards for us. Would really recommend this to anyone looking for the unusual. We even had a box to ourselves.

We have been here quite a number of times. Always good for coffee and cake, the art is also good to look at. Downstairs is a wonderful small theatre, great for a children's show or an adult group, we have been to an evening showing and also half of a Christmas Party.

What a great place for a lunchtime bite! The imaginative fillings, though not an extensive choice, as everything is fresh, were great. The cakes are homemade and look amazing (sadly we had no time to test one). Best bit was the homemade citrus 'lemonade' - with great chunks of grapefruit, ginger, orange and honey - it was dessert and a drink. What fun!! This quirky little place in Westbourne parade deserves success - far superior to anything a 'chain' place may have to offer.
