We had called-here for drinks during a previous visit to Bournemouth. We were impressed with the wine we drank, and the food that we saw served to other customers. So, today was the realisation of a promise that we made-to-ourselves to revisit and, this time, dine! We were a few-minutes early for our 19:30 reservation having allowed too-much time for our half-a-mile walk from our hotel. The restaurant was not busy, and there were scant customers during our 2½ hour stay. There was only one, very pleasant, member of staff in the bar/dining area. We had assumed he was the Manager, and he did everything: menus, drinks, food orders, food service, and payment. He did this pleasantly with good humour, plus impressive efficiency and knowledge. The food here is principally ‘Sharing Boards’ but also available were smaller (snack) servings of Artisan Cheese and Charcuterie and other “Nibbles”. We chose an ‘Ultimate Board’ (intended for two people sharing and costing £36.95 in total). Within this price you select four types of charcuterie plus four types of cheese to complete the board. Drinks: we started with a 175ml glass of “Martin Codax Albariño” for each of us. The extensive and impressive wine list offers a good selection available by the 175 or 250ml glass: 6 white wines, 3 rosé wines, 9 red wines, 3 sparkling wines and 9 aperitif/digestif wines. The Albariño was very much enjoyed, whist we decided which bottle of wine we would have with our meal. After much thought we chose a bottle of Bin 31 ‘Laibach (Sur Lie) Stellenbosch’; a white wine from what is a great wine-producing region in South Africa. This was superbly delicate and gently flavoured; with the very slight effervescence from the ‘Sur Lie’ fermentation method (fermentation on the lees). We know this method well from Sur Lie Muscadet wines, from the Sèvre-et-Maine region in France. With our wine chosen, we concentrated on the charcuterie and fromage that we would like with our ‘Ultimate Board’. There was much debate between us, but eventually: Our choices of charcuterie were: Salami Milano: with a perfumed scent that was such a delight. Pâté: quite fine but rich and flavoursome. Venison Salami: surprising and just superb. Smoked Pancetta: we loved this delicately smoked pork belly which was served in the thinnest slices imaginable. The cheese was far more difficult to choose: A Cheddar was a no-brainer and it was good; however we have ‘Vintage’ Cheddar at home (aged for 36-60 months); so the Cheddar here was a bit tame for our tastes. Oak Smoked Lincolnshire Poacher: this was very disappointing as half of the piece was totally inedible rind, and the rest was almost impossible to cut with the cheese-knife provided. I brought this to the attention of the Manager this was exchanged with more of the Cheddar. Northern Blue: good and creamy and appreciably tangy. We had another cheese which was firm and good eating, but we cannot recall it’s name (that’s our fail then). To be honest, and sadly, we found the cheese to be not anywhere as good as the charcuterie, we like mostly hard, or at least firm cheese, with strong flavours. Brie, Camembert and other soft cheeses rarely feature at our home (the somewhat explains our choices). The board was loaded with extra ingredients: a good selection of salad and fruit: cream cheese stuffed cherry tomatoes, lovely crunchy astringent cornichon, fresh grapes and pitted olives. There was also a pot of hummus, onion relish, cheese crackers, and a basket of bread (the latter of which we ordered a second). The meal was still a very favourable experience; made better by the extra cornichon provided. Just because I said how much I loved the texture and flavour of these wonderful ‘little gherkins’. After our board we were quite replete and there was no-way we could have managed a dessert, but an extra glass of Viognier for my Partner, and a wonderful 10-year-old Tawny Port for myself, finished-off the meal splendidly.

Recently revisited Westbourne, taking some friends. Firstly the service from the staff was excellent however the food was not to standard, portion size severely reduced. They have now lost a long time customer. Very disappointed 😞

Marsha was a great host! So knowledgeable about the menu and enthusiastic about it too. We had a vegan board, no vegan cheese but you totally dont miss it!! So varied and tasty. The pate was absolutely insanely good!!! The portion size was very generous, a bargain for £20!!! We had a nice wine tasting experience. We will definitely be back again soon.

I had a great night here a few weeks ago. The cheese is to die for, well all of the food is fantastic. The six person sharer board has a lot of extras and a generous choice of cheese and meat. A great wine selection and don't worry if you don't drink wine, there is a well stocked bar. Attentive but not overbearing service. Shay is a great asset to Westbourne. I would highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. If you love the food, there is also a Renoufs deli just down the road in The Arcade.

As an early Mother's Day treat, daughter took for for lunch here. The photo is 100% representative of the charcuterie and cheese board, plus sliced breads that we shared. Excellent service by the staff. We chose a comte, a Dorset Red and a camembert, for our 3 cheeses. All the cheeses were lovely; the comte was tongue tinglingly delicious. Even the pickled onions were eye poppingly terrific. I would thoroughly recommend having lunch etc. here

We were visiting Bournemouth to enjoy Valentine’s Night, which we do like to celebrate, because after the Christmas and New Year festivities, there’s just nothing ‘happening’; at least until the weather improves. Valentine’s remains the only occasion, in the depths of winter, that give’s us reason to dine-out; it drives us to brave the elements and have a little fun. This year we decided we would have the best part of a couple of days here in Bournemouth; including this one-night stop-over. We found this Cheese and Wine Bar through research on the web and we were intrigued by what we saw on the website and the reviews here on TA. We had not made a reservation, and on our arrival we had to wait to see if they could accommodate us. It was about 17:10 when we arrived and the place was not busy, but there were other customer’s bookings here to consider. We were advised that we could have a table until 18:30; fortunately for us this was plenty of time as we were not going to have dinner here, just some bread to go with our wine. We are wine-drinkers, we rarely drink spirits and do not drink beer or cider at all. Dry and fruity white wine is our preference. The wine list here is truly impressive; certainly plenty to choose-from, so we studied the list for some time. We narrowed-down our choice to one of three wines and eventually chose a bottle of the ‘Jérémie Huchet Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine sur Lie’. Muscadet is one of our favourite wines, but only from the Sevre-et-Maine region which (for us) produces the finest Muscadet; with the benefit of an extra fermentation on the lees. We have visited and bought wine in Sèvre-et-Maine and we prize it’s quality, and it’s distinctive elegant flavours of apple and lemon. This wine was a really good example of what we enjoy, especially with the excellent bread and balsamic accompaniment. The arrival of more customers improved the ambience and we saw some very appetizing platters being presented to diners and we stole a photograph (with permission from a kind couple near to us). We have made a note to include a dining visit here on another trip to Bournemouth. In fact we are already planning to do just that, but it will be in the summer where the weather is more appealing. We will be sure to make a reservation. The prices here are not as expensive as we has assumed; this is however a place for those that are serious about wine and not the occasional Liebfraumilch drinker. The walls are covered in shelves with hundreds of wine bottles: all upside-down to keep the corks moist. I guess they would have bottles ready to use too, otherwise (particularly the reds) would need time to settle any sediment before pouring. Service was very good, but there was just a hint (more a feeling) of wine snobbery about one or two members of service team.

Great visit for a belated valentines celebration! My boyfriend and I love it here - good service, great food wine and even better cheese. As a vegetarian they are very good at catering for me and making sure I know what I can and can’t have. Will 100% be back!

The staff were very attentive although it was busy. We were sitting at the bar so we got to chat to all of them and they were all very knowledgeable about their wine, cheese and meat so, with their advice, we chose well. We had a very enjoyable evening and we'll certainly return to sample some more delicious food and drink.

This was another visit to our favourite place! Always great service from Sam and the team at Westbourne Renoufs. This occasion was for my husband BG’s Birthday with our friends Stu and Nic both cheese monsters ha ha! Seriously the wine is incredible here we love a Malbec our friends enjoyed a recommended Rose. We had the board for 6 people (greedy guts!) Pork pie, 8 meats, 12 cheeses, pate, olives, bread, crackers, stuffed peppers baked Camembert just everything The Lord Cheesus could ask for! Easy walking location for us. We killed 4 bottles of vino and had a fantastic night laughing, chatting and socialising.

Starting off with amazing food, such a great selection. A great variety of drinks on offer, puts a lot of places to shame. There is definitely something for everyone. Downside is you are packed in like a tin of sardines. You have no room between tables, and the tables themselves are not big enough to accommodate the amount of people to sit on them.

We used Renoufs for private catering the night before our wedding for our family and bridal party. It was a feast fit for a king and they were so lovely - cannot recommend them highly enough for catering/functions as well as the bars themselves.

I am so torn by giving this review, as I booked the restaurant on recommendation from my partner (who is celebrating his birthday), as he had been told by work colleagues, it was such an amazing place! However, we both feel bitterly disappointed! When booking, I was asked if I was booking for a special event. I was it was my partners birthday, however, there was not so much as a mention of this on arrival, and on turning up, I actually felt like I wanted to turn around and walk straight back out the door. We were taken to our table, which, incidentally, was very noisy due to the very large party behind us, however, that was no fault of the restaurant, so that really should not form part of my judgement, and it doesn’t! Although I would have expected the staff in the restaurant to comment to the party of nine, that some of the foul language was inappropriate at the volume for the oval ambience of the restaurant! I’ll start with the ambience of the restaurant, the lighting was extremely poor, meaning it was very hard to read the menus. Especially as the lights that we were sat under were blue, and the writing on the menu was gold print on a black background for some of it, i.e. the wine list! Thank goodness for the mobile phone torch. The waiter graciously offered to help with the order, that was very well received, and thank you. However, thereafter there was not much Service. When our food arrived, Which took some time, and considering none of it was cooked, it was a very long wait. Most of the produce on the platter was fantastic, although I would say the “smoked” cheese had absolutely no flavour, and if I’m honest, I thought it was the end of the pack and was actually ready for the bin. As I said above, the service after the initial ordering of the food was an abysmal . Whilst the staff were very attentive to their duties behind the bar, such as cleaning glasses and wrapping cutlery in napkins, at no point throughout the duration of the food, did anybody check to see if we were satisfied with what we had, or even offer us a further drink. It was only when we managed to attract the attention of a member of the team, whilst he was walking past, serving someone else did we manage to successfully order a further drink. what a wasted sales opportunity. We would, however, add, that the “flights” of wine are a brilliant idea. When asked at the end of the meal, when we were paying the bill if everything was okay, I did remark that the food was amazing, you should note if you remember us, at no point did I ever reference any member of staff, as their service was somewhat missing. I don’t think I would like to come back here, and I will certainly be sharing my unsatisfactory experiences with many people, which I’ve already started to do via various social media forums. Our experience at your restaurant, for what should’ve been a magical event was little more than a damp night out.

Renoufs is one of the best places to go in the area. Great concept. Always enjoyable. You have to love bread, wine, meat and cheese but most people do. I would say that the portion sizes on most counts have got smaller. Meat and cheese especially. For me the wine choices were not as good as before that could be just a personal thing. However, I would always go back.

Tried to make a reservation a few days before Saturday night only to be disappointed. Popped in for a glass of wine early on Saturday evening before they got busy…. Really lovely little wine bar… so we will definitely be booking (much earlier) next time we are around. Their Cheese shop across the road in the Arcade looks amazing… Oh and the sharing boards looked absolutely fantastic…

Another brilliant meal! I absolutely love this place, the staff are so knowledgeable and helpful. The food and wine is excellent. We live in Nottingham so travel a long way to visit Bournemouth and we always eat here because it's so good. I also appreciate the option on table size, as I'm not keen on the high table and chairs.

This was my second visit to a Renoufs Restaurant and it didn’t disappoint! The ambience was lovely and chilled and excellent service. A gorgeous treat to experience with a good friend.

The manager, Morny, was most accommodating to find a table that suited my needs. A warm welcome and we quickly settled into the selection of our cheeses and charcuterie. Gluten free requirements were a simple adaptation of the menu. Perfect. This was our second visit and it lived up to the first. Excellent cheeses and meats and plenty of guidance to find our right choices. Delicious meal and perfect wine accompaniment. Highly recommended.

I had never been to Renoufs before, so I had no expectations going in. However, the moment I walked in, Bart made me feel like I was a regular. He ran me through the wine and cheese menu, explained how everything worked, and made me feel very welcome. He was very attentive throughout the whole evening and be rest assured I will be coming here again for the sole reason that Bart made my experience amazing. 10/10.

Our first visit even though we are very local. What a lovely experience. We had lunch with the family, shared platter of 12 cheeses and 12 charcuterie along with olives, baked casement, pork pie, pickles, hot chorizo, breads and crackers. Excellent wines and gins. Superb. Fully recommend and we will be back.

The employees in the Westbourne branch were so friendly and welcoming, and there wasn’t a question we asked they weren’t happy to help us with. The food was lovely and the wine was amazing too! Always a lovely visit and atmosphere.
