The best fish and chip shop in the area!

Long wait for very expensive food- and small portions to boot-including a mini bottle of Diet Coke. Disappointing. Would absolutely not recommend.

So disappointing this evening( similar to our last visit in October!)Back in the day( last year) the battered Cod was a light golden colour as were the chips!,However,on our last visits ,Cod was quite a dark ,tan colour and the chips were a very similar colour.It wad as if the oil was far too hot or needed changing They were greasy,small ( crispy as do small)and the portion was smaller than usual!So very different to Giles Corren reviews!! and our past experience and views.

Seems a great place and everyone raves about the food (only popped in for drinks ) but be back for food soon

Fabulous seafood, really nice and really helpful staff. Cosy little restaurant, well worth a visit.

Had a wonderful sausage and bacon bap , and a coffee well priced and it was lovely to sit on the seats by the river

Wide assortment of books from all eras. It's very laissez-faire in terms of service: you can see if you can find what you want on your own because the staff can't really help you as they don't know their assortment that well. The interior is quite nice, although there are no chairs so one can get quite tired standing.

It's been 8 years since we've been here for a meal, and again, it did not disappoint. From the warm, friendly welcome to the absolutely delicious food. The same chef and owner for 30 years proved that this place is hard to beat. Travelled 5 hours from the other side of the country for this restaurant and their special steak. We will always come back as long as this place exists.

Nothing special , average kebabs served on cold plates.

2 cocktails cost £33! Sadly, the entire tumblers were wedged with the largest ice cube I’ve ever seen, leaving room for no more than one sip of liquid!!! When I told the waitress she just smiled and took the payment. Absolute rip-off as there was no show on at the time either. Left feeling more than parched. Not worth it :(

What a lovely cafe, really high quality teas and delicious food in a quirky setting with loads of interest. Love it.

We went for the Indian options. Not disappointed at all. Food was so good. Better than our local Indian restaurants. Service was very good as well. Can't wait to go back.
