I visited The Railway with my family on the first day they’d opened to allow indoor eating after a Covid Lockdown. The premises were well set out to ensure correct distancing and we all felt safe with the measures in place. All five of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The quality of the food was very high. The staff were extremely friendly and gave fantastic service. I’d highly recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.

We enjoyed another Sunday roast takeaway this Sunday. Once again, we opted for the beef dinner and it was excellent. The ordering process is simple and the food was ready for collection bang on time. The meal is presented in strong tin foil trays and comprised three veg, roast and mash potatoes, a generous helping of beef and a lovely Yorkshire pudding all served with a very nice gravy. Can’t wait for lockdown to be lifted so that we can visit again for a sit-down meal. Whilst lockdown continues we can thoroughly recommend the Sunday roast meals. Give them a try.

My wife and I have just enjoyed a superb Sunday roast takeaway from The Railway Inn, Lindal-in-Furness. We chose the roast beef dinner and it was excellent. We can thoroughly recommend them and hope you will support a local business during these difficult times.

Lucky enough to have an AirBnB across the road, our first visit was an eye opener having underestimated the facilities being in a small village in the middle of nowhere ( although on the A590). The welcome was warm, the food choice excellent, and well priced, and the beer a good mix of popular brands and real ale. We ended up oing in nearly every night it was open and ate there three times. The sort of place you wish you had down the road from home. The locals were also friendly, chatty and amusing. Will definitely be back, especially as the staff has covid-safe attitude throughout ( sanitizer, track and trace, table service, etc)

My partner and I visited here on Saturday evening. We were pleasantly welcomed by the lovely gentleman behind the bar, asked us whether we would just like drinks or food aswell. We advised it was for food and drinks, he asked us to kindly sanitise our hands and he showed us to a table. He wore a mask the whole time, there were signs everywhere to make sure you knew which way to walk to the toilets and exit due to covid etc. The menu is currently on a TV screen which is a fantastic idea and saves waste. We ordered starters and mains which were really nice. I'd totally go back again if we were in the area again :)

We rang up to book a table for Sunday lunch, last minute but got a table. Staff were welcoming, covid measures in place but still functioning well. The food was good, we both ended up with the curry and I had the toffee apple crumble which was so good! Recommended to family friend who has it on their list for next weekend. We would go back there happily if in the area again.

Visited here for a birthday meal. Having never been here before we didn't know what to expect. It is a traditional English country pub which I love, When you go through to the dining area however, which only has around 4 tables, it is very modern with a huge mural of (what look like the lake district) on the wall. I opted for the homemade meat and potato pie with chips and mushy peas. We booked our food in advance so it came quite quickly after being seated. It looked delicious, the pie was very deep and filled to the brim with meat and potato. The chips and mushy peas looked great too and it was all smothered in gravy. The whole meal was utterly tasty and I would definitely return and choose the same dish again.

I visited the Railway with friends on a quiet Wednesday evening to try the food offering. We were not disappointed. The pub is well appointed and the small dining room is located well away from the bar. The menu for a small establishment is more than adequate with prices being around the norm for the area. The food was freshly cooked, well presented and portions were of a good size. Service was polite and very friendly. If you are thinking of paying a visit do so, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Visited this pub once before and I can honestly say I don't know why we don't visit more often with living locally as you really cannot fault a thing! The menu is varied, something for everyone - all clearly home cooked! The service is good, we ordered at the bar but this is expected in a busy pub (also New Year's Eve) waitress who brought our food etc was lovely as was the barman who I think maybe landlord. The pub itself is quite small, but really cute and cosy... A 'proper' pub, the food is absolutely beautiful & you really can not fault it! I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. 110% recommend this little gem.

Visted this restaurant at the weekend having had a good experience a couple of years ago. We had a table booked for 8 pm on a Saturday and we expected it to be heaving, it was so quiet only us and 1 other table!! I cannot for the life of me understand why, the food was beyond amazing. My husband had the garlic mushrooms to start and surf and turf as his main, both were beautifully cooked. I went for prawn cocktail and large Hammond, again beautiful. The young lady who served us was attentive and friendly with nothing too much trouble for her. This is a little gem of a place for food, great prices, a lovely dining area, friendly staff great sticky toffee pudding :-) The locals of Askam, Lindal and Dalton need to make the most of it. We were supremely impressed and will definitely be coming back the next time we're up.

I visited here with my partner and her mum. It was a Last minute choice based on our first choices being fully booked. After tonight, it is further up the choice of eateries...A reasonable menu of home cooked food....excellent lamb shank. All the food was pipping hot and served with a good selection of potatoes and veg/salad.The service was OK, it was the barman who also did the role of waiter... So if busy there may be a delay.... Three cask ales and nice wines...The prices were reasonable... Decor is relaxing and bright...It is a one to two minute walk to the Barrow to Ulverston bus stop, so leave you're car and enjoy a drink...We are already planning another visit

We arrived at the restaurant for a meal booked for 7.00pm. Four of the party of six booked starters which didn't arrive until 7.50pm and then the main courses didn't arrive until 9.05pm. I've never seen such poor service. Two of the party ordered lamb shank, but there was none left. The meals were reasonable, however the gammon steak was far too salty, and the meat and potato pie very average. However it was the service that was dire. You know the saying, "A restaurant is only as good as your last meal there", and on this experience I won't be returning.

Considering the coffee shop is adjacent to a ruin, I was expecting your average, tourist offering. I was happily surprised. We ordered baguettes, which seemed more like paninis. They were flavorful. I had bacon, brie & cranberry. The flat white hit the spot. And we shared a Victoria sponge cake that was our least favorite. Nevertheless, when you're with good friends, it makes for an even better lunch. Open Wednesdays - Sundays, 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
