Great Yarmouth Pie and Pea Stall in Great Yarmouth

Being from London East End it is so nice ro see a real pie and mash shop, pie are from one of Londons oldest pie and mash shops and are amazing. Nice and clean place and always a friendly service, I always make this my 1st stop when I go to Yarmouth. Amazing good quality food at reasonable prices

We were unsure what to expect when visiting the new Gt Yarmouth market for chips & peas, we were a little disappointed that the market construction was still ongoing, however we had chips & peas at the only stall open and were pleased with both chips & peas - a great Yarmouth tradition - keep it up.

Went here for the last time before this stall closes and moves into the new market with a new family member next door. I used to go with my dad and grandad for pie and peas and go by myself now and everytime i go you get friendly service and the best pie ever. Sad to see it go but hope the new one is just as good.

I have been coming here since I was about six years old and am now into my fifties. Visited today and had a bowl of mushy peas with Mint sauce. Nothing changes, absolutely great food, fast service, friendly service and literally cheaper than chips... Family owned and customer centered this is a one-off stall that cannot be beat... Long live the mushy peas!

I had this apaslutey duscusting. Never again. I would rather have pie mash and liqure from london. Would not recomend this in great yarmouth

Been going here all my life. My mum and dad and his mum and dad also used to go. I love the peas, they haven’t changed in all of those years. A must visit. You will love them. Keep up the great tradition.

Friendly service as usual and of course excellent peas with the trimmings plus a very tasty pie. Still top of the pile!

Hey everyone, Hope you are all well? I know this must sound strange, but can anyone let me know how they are doing? I've been going to pies-peas since I was born and I often think of them.. due to covid & me being CEV I haven't been able to go in year!! Heartbreaking.. i refuse to eat any other mushy peas! If you do see them, can you let them know the young lady from Romford Essex ( I normally go with my dad & Nana) misses them and can't wait to see them both again, I hope you are both doing well. There mushy peas are my happy place, it makes me feel at home and I absolutely adore both of gentleman :) they are always so kind and understanding with my nana who has dementia. Thankyou x

Best pea stall in the country, been coming to gt yarmouth since I was a child, and must always have peas on the market. The stall has been run by the same family for ever. Love the owner's banter. Great peas, great service. Very clean. A must have for any visitor to the market. Followed by chips from brewers.

We stopped here for some mushy peas as always whilst visiting the Christmas Fayre on the market place. The mushy peas were superb as always and will see you again soon.

My dear dad used to drive myself and my siblings from Leicester to Great Yarmouth back in the 50’s, just to buy these amazing peas. I myself have done the same thing on many occasions since I started driving in 1966. Yes, I am being truthful, nearly 300 miles just for these amazing peas, they are worth it. In fact my wife and I were there eating these peas just last week. Long may you continue to serve them.

Every year since I can remember, when ever we visit Great Yarmouth to visit family we always have to have chips then peas. Next day a Pie - its the Yarmouth law

Always busy and has been their for years. It is not fine dining but it is delicious food for a lunch time snack and as good as anything you will get in a restaurant in Great Yarmouth but maybe not served as prettily. Staff are friendly and stall looks clean and well kept. My son lives in Great Yarmouth so I a there a lot and I always make sure I get my pie and mint pea snack at least once per visit.

My wife and I are both celebrating our 50th birthdays so this had to be done, a visit to the pea and pie stall in Great Yarmouth. So many childhood memories. Time moves on with the son taking over the mantle overseeing his son. #lovely_business #Peas&Mintsauce thankyou......

Always have peas on Yarmouth market when we go here as they are lovely.Like most it’s a tradition we do when we visit as can remember having them when I was a small child then taking our children now it’s the grandchildren’s turn to have them.Don’t miss out.

Been by this pie and pea stand many times. Today I thought let's give it a try. I've got to say why had I not tried this before the pie and peas were outstanding best tasting peas I've ever had and the pie wasn't bad all for the price of 1pound eighty pence will definitely be back. Service was quick give it a try if your in Great Yarmouth.

Every time we come to Yarmouth we go and have a meat pie from this stall staff always friendly very good price for a hot pie will be back next time we in the area.

A trip to Gt. Yarmouth just isn't complete without chips and peas on the market. I've been visiting Gary for peas and mint sauce which I eat with a cone of chips from any of the many chip stalls opposite him for years, since I was a little girl with my mum and dad, fond memories. He's been joined in recent years by his son, who is quieter than Gary ;) They make a perfect pair, making perfect peas!! Always nice to have a chat and put the world to rights!! Came and saw you with mum on Wednesday (market day) and enjoyed chips, peas and mint sauce - long may it continue x

This is a great place for a quick snack, lovely freshly made pie's and mushy peas, pleasant service, prices are excellently cheap, you don't have to wait for your food, immediate service, and take away if wished.

Always like to treat myself every now and then and go get myself some hot peas and mint sauce, you will never taste peas like this anywhere else!

No visit is complete without peas off the market with lashings of mint sauce. One of the few traditional stalls left on the market. Great hear- warming snack to see you through the day.

I sometimes purchase a hot meat pie from here, very reasonable price, clean and staff are always pleasant. i cannot comment on the mushy peas as i'm not a lover of these.

A visit to Great Yarmouth wouldn't be the same without Pie & Peas and Chips off the market. Not only are they of great value, they are just don't taste like that elsewhere.

We have been going to the pea stall for years (at least 40 years of my lifetime), they are amazing mixed with mint sauce.

Ideal pie and mushy pea's to go with a cup of tea when on the market, very good value for money with a friendly service.

After a shopping trip at Yarmouth we had some mushy peas on the market place as per usual when we visit Yarmouth. Lovely as always and served with a happy face and smile. Hope to be back again soon. Try some you will enjoy.

Mi primera visita fue sobre 1956 cuando era de 5 con mis padres y abuelos. He visitado regularmente y con más frecuencia en los últimos años. No se puede comprar en cualquier lugar de guisantes mejor blanda aquí. También la hospitalidad y bromas es genial....

This stall has been here for years loved it when I was a kid peas and mint sauce yum,now I'm older it's my kids turn and they love it you can get chips from the other stalls and put your peas on top great prices and atmosphere

This stall is one of my all-time favourite things about great Yarmouth first had the pie and mushy peas with my mum and nan and grandad back in the 70s , each time we come back it's the top of my to-do list, such a basic idea but by far the best mushy peas around , great value for money, love it

Best value for money, been visiting this stall for 30 plus years, its a must if you like mushy peas, ( the only one in the area I think).

You have to eat here if you go to Yarmouth Market. I eat here before I get my chips. I don't know how they keep their prices so low. The chaps serving are always polite. Might make a trip back this weekend

I never thought that mushy peas could be anything more than a side, but these transcend and are delicious. The flavour and texture are sublime and it would be very easy to eat a few bowls of the stuff. Great value too.

Instead of fish & chips the Pie & Peas stall is a great alternative, eat now or takeaway, really enjoyable snack, you'll be hooked once you've tried them.

This stall is one of the few places where I know that I will enjoy some absolutely great Mushy Peas and it really is a Toss - Up as to which stall is the best.The one on Norwich Market or this one in Great Yarmouth, on balance I think that great Yarmouth wins.

Talk about a good of market tradition, we'll look no further than this stall on Yarmouth market. Perfect combination and excellent value - £1.80 the two. Friendly banter, and you are always made to feel welcome.

I travel to yarmouth to work a lot, and most of my friends think I am a little sad when I say mushy peas again!!!! (A game shop I visit always knows I will give his repairs a priority).I have been using this stall for years and should be listed as a great Yarmouth gem and a must to visit,The two men who run this stall are also a yarmouth gem and are also worth a visit just to talk to them.In this day and age this stall is unique.

Excellent! Immaculately clean premises, stall holder very friendly and always very busy serving people with tasty pies and peas. Well worth a try, good price too. we visit every time we go to Great Yarmouth.

Being GY born and bred I can still remember 3d of chips plus mushy peas with change for a shilling.I still shop there for a pie & pea`s still taste the same.

A trip to Yarmouth market is well renown for its chips, however it's a must to try the pie and peas,also during your visit. My favourite is to add a good spoonful of mint sauce, and smother with pepper,I can taste them now as I write, bootiful.

I call in here a couple of times a year with my son, and have been for the past fifteen years. The pies and peas are brilliant, but the stars of the show are the father and son team that run the show! They are always pleased to see you, always have the time to chat, and their 'patter' is top notch! In the days of 'have a nice day' robotically said through a drive through window, these two guys show you what service really is. If you visit Great Yarmouth market call in here, good grub and great people, what more do you want?

I've been meaning to give this stall a try for ages. Finally gave it a go at the weekend.The stall is spotlessly clean, the proprietor is friendly and peas and pies are only 90p each. The peas were lovely and are highly recommended. The pie was almost as thin as a biscuit. I've no idea what was in it but it was tasty, there was just a lack of filling.

Sorry I have lived in Great Yarmouth and visit 3 or 4 times a year, But do not understand eating mushy peas. Yes they taste nice but the pies are the worse I have ever eaten. Simple food for simple people in my mind.....

if you go to Great Yarmouth market you must go to the Pea Staff, they only sell Pies and Peas, they are the best I have ever had, the staff are very friendly and the stall is spotless.

Very tasty mushy peas. You can "eat in" (stand at the counter with a proper bowl and real cutlery) or take away (in a cup). Choice of condiments, including mint sauce. Seriously, you're in Great Yarmouth. If you do not eat mushy peas (and/or/with the 70p worth cone of chips from the stall opposite) then what are you doing at a British seaside resort town?

I noticed this stall as soon as I moved to Yarmouth, thinking "their food must be amazing or they wouldn't survive selling only 2 things". It took me a couple of weeks to get round to trying their food and I've been back at least once a week since. The peas are completely, ridiculously amazingly sublime. I offered to marry the younger of the two proprietors in order to obtain their secret recipe they're that good. The senior proprietor always offers me a good deal: a second bowl for the same price as the first - how could I resist? Especially since the price is 90p a portion, served in a real crockery bowl with real cutlery. There's the option of adding salt, pepper or mint sauce which I've tried, but find they simply don't need it - the peas are perfect as they are. Though if you have a bigger appetite, get a cone or tray of chips from one of the excellent chip stalls, then take them to the pie and pea stall to have them liberally garnished with peas. And it's not just me; the estimable Mr Heston Blumenthal recently made an expedition to sample these blissful peas!
