The Kings Arms in Great Yarmouth

Thank you so much to the lovely staff. The young waitress who looked after me and the 2 lovely young men who changed my punctured tyre to help me on my way. I really appreciated their care.

I rarely will spend £150 a night on a hotel room but had booked the Owl room for a special occasion my son’s wedding I drove 5 hrs to get to Norfolk so was looking forward to a bit of luxury. The reason I picked the Owl Lodge was the fact it had a bath tub. The lodge itself is small just the size of a bedroom with a decent sized bathroom . Unfortunately the practicality of the lodge the unwillingness of the staff and a restful night wasn’t there. Theres no privacy unless you want the curtains drawn the public can quite clearly see inside from the main road and car park .The bathroom towel heater whirred loudly all night with no local switch , the digital heater on the wall illuminated to a level of annoyance in the dark that also refused to go any lower than 23’ and at 3am which the church clock next door chimed on a hourly basis reminded me it was 3am trying to sleep in a Swedish sauna wasn’t going to happen. Finally locating the switches in the ceiling all got switched off finally peace . On 3hrs sleep I had the privilege of speaking to a not so polite staff member who kept reminding me ‘she was on her own’ when I asked to kindly have breakfast brought over to the whole 10 yards to the lodge I got a NO, can you book me a taxi - a taxi that won’t take me as my destination was too local ?? Really so that’s another NO ? She also pointed out that I had to be out by 11am ? Having forced to skip breakfast, my relaxing morning bath, leisurely time of getting ready along with desperately re arranging my travel to the venue, looking a million dollars as a mother to the groom should, I looked and felt like **** Kings Arms has in my opinion ruined my time in Norfolk and the start to a big day. I would have been better off sleeping in my car. Don’t stay here if you have an important day it’s all frills n no knickers. Also they get their negative Trip Advisor reviews removed so think on how many of those they’ve had.. Think twice on booking here

Overnight stay with breakfast included. Booked for dinner as well. Couldn’t fault anything from the great team (a special mention for Jade), to some outstanding food, warm and cosy lodge and really relaxing stay. See you again soon.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you’ll find it hard to better this place. The food is top notch, the staff are really friendly and always make you feel welcome. You won’t go wrong coming here!

Perfect! We stayed in lavender, a really lovely room❤️ we had the tasting menu which was exquisite. The lobster bisque and pigeon breast were exceptional! Staff, as always, super helpful and friendly. Breakfast was superb. No complaints here. Thanks all x

We stayed for one night at The Kings Arms. Our room was impeccable. Lovely decor, nice big bed, decent shower and lovely and clean. The staff were all brilliant and couldn't have done more for us. The food was lovely. Very highly recommended.

It was absolutely excellent- you enter the dining room with white cloths at lunchtime and this sets the scene for a beautifully executed meal that was served with efficiency and care. The ‘Norfolk Strawberry’dessert was a particular highlight.

Came here whilst on holiday with the in laws with our 2 dogs. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the beef roast for main. Had the black pudding for starter and the strawberry snd cream dessert. Husband had the pea and mint soup and sea bass. Everyone enjoyed their food. The service was great too. Really good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return

Great food sadly let down by indifferent service. We were left waiting for the final bill whilst the staff stood around the bar chatting. Not good for a meal costing over £60 per person!

Really enjoyed staying here the venue was beautiful and the staff and food made it extra special! Especially Christina and Ayishya! I ordered the best chicken dish I have ever tasted! We visited the restaurant at the Kings Arm. The service was great but the food was on another level…very impressive. We just left the restaurant so a short review for now with the intention to write a longer one later.

Wonderful one night stay away for our wedding anniversary. The pub and location is beautiful. Staff were extremely attentive. Good was amazing, both dinner and breakfast. Hot tub is idyllic. Will be back soon

Since mark dixon purchased this property it has become one of east anglias finest dining establishments; the food & char grilled steaks are to die for. The restaurant for evenings is warm & cosy open plan but not noisy kitchen, soft lighting not harsh, the entire pub bar..restaurant..toilets etc are spotless very clean and clean smelling no unpleasant stale food or grease smells. Food is available also in the bar both at lunchtime and evenings, outside in summer also. Good selection of beer wines etc and superb service; a downturn in customer service did sadly occur, but this was addressed, the appointment of a new lady manager has restored the kings arms to its best; With one of englands finest young chefs running the show, mark dixon take a bow! WOW! this establishment has become a fine dining restaurant from a pub, its transformation is fantastic as since the late 70s this area of Norfolk has been staved of classy places to eat as mainly pubs selling microwavable pub grub slowly took over, thanks to MARK DIXON and his team we now have a superb place to eat in peace again in east coast area of Norfolk.. NO intrusive televisions, no loud gaming machines, or tat just an old fashioned classy relaxing dog friendly dining experience with good quality smartly dressed staff and food to die for plus a good selection of ales, lager, wine etc. Prices inline and far better value then microwaved food not much cheaper in other establishments. THIS PLACE IS A TREAT... CLASSY but not snobby.

From the moment I started researching our trip to Norfolk over a year ago, I had identified The King’s Arms as somewhere I wanted to stay. We were fortunate enough to be able to book two lovely garden lodges - the Bee room and the Fox room. We received a very friendly welcome and this friendliness we experienced with all the staff we encountered throughout our stay. The Barn was an amazing space used as a bar and for casual dining – the tapas looked delicious! Dinner in the restaurant was outstanding – all accolades richly deserved. We were especially intrigued by the lobster bisque (best we’ve ever tasted) presented in an unusual octopus bowl. Our view into the open kitchen showed efficient team work at its best – a very professional operation. Breakfast was ordered from the menu – no buffet which was unusual nowadays but which we much appreciated. An added bonus was discovering the gravestone of my great, great grandfather in the churchyard across the road.

Great food and service, lovely interior and atmosphere

We had a lovely overnight stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed using the hot tub. This was our second time returning to Kings Arms and would highly recommend. Especially for special occasions!!

One of the best lunches we have had in a long time. We had the beef salad and the sea bass, Both absolutely delicious. Generous portions and beautifully presented. The service was immaculate. Only one very small proviso. The chairs were a little bit uncomfortable, but the food was so good that we soon forgot about that.

Didn't stay in any rooms so cannot comment on that but dined in the bar area of the restaurant this evening with the dogs and family. Food is on the more expensive side so save up if going however they so have a cheaper bar menu option and a 7 course tasting menu with reasonable sized portions for each course. We ordered from the normal menu and all dishes were absolutely delicious and worth the money as well as (and more importantly) the wonderful service, the dogs and children being allowed in the bar area for food and the ambiance

Nice atmosphere with excellent quality food. I had battered haddock chips smashed peas and tartar sauce. Very well cook flaky fish. Lovely staff member served us.

We had a fantastic Wedding Anniversary superb food evening meal and breakfast, excellent customer service which includes ALL staff/management etc… polite/very helpful/considerate the accommodation was excellent with the use of a clean and well maintained hot tub. 100% recommendation and we will be definitely making this a regular treat. Absolutely disgraced with how the Kings Arms at Fleggburgh run their business. My husband received gift vouchers for his 60th to the value of £100 and only just realised they were only valid for 6 months and have now expired. Following a phone call, the manager will not honour them! What business’s today only provide 6 months validity on gift cards! Other gifts vouchers he received from Byfords at Holt and The Pigs at Edgefield were valid for 2 years. I appreciate my husband should have been aware they only had 6 months on them but the fact is “he didn’t” so you may have the opinion it’s his own fault however the Managers attitude is unacceptable surely in a customer oriented business. My husbands family are from the area and some are buried in the grounds at the Church adjacent to the pub. We even hire the village hall and get together every year as the family is so big. He has many treasured memories of Fleggburgh village, however we will see to it to spread the word about our experience of the Kings Arms and I would never recommend the business to any of our family or friends. They are in business only to line their own pockets and their customer service is disgraceful 😡

We loved it the whole venue. Our instance with our little Jazz🦮 was memorable. Happy Jazz🦮, Happy Paps👨‍👨‍👦🥰 Great place to enjoy a quiet and pleasant sleep-night. We stayed in the lodge and is absolutely lovely. Quiet, relaxing and private! The restaurant is fabulous: fantastic atmosphere. Food is absolutely delicious 🍲 The breakfast was yummy, yummy. Frankly the best full English breakfast we have had. The quality of the produce is finest! There is few things it could improve: mirror on the bothroom is too high. I couldn't see my face. The mirrors in the room would be better I full body. Definitely recommend and coming back.

Only went for a meal but food & service outstanding

Went to the restaurant here for my wifes birthday. The meal was superb. The staff were lovely, professional, friendly and welcoming. The kitchen is open view and I could see all the kitchen staff were busy all of the time. The quality of the food is excellent. Definitely going back again.

We had the tasting menu with paired wines. The food was out of this world, the chef is very clever with the flavours he puts together. The wines were equally well paired to complement each course. The staff were very attentive, friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back. A very nice experience from start to finish.

Just had a lovely 2 night stay . We booked 2 of the lodges The Bee and The Fox . Both beautiful. Nice big room with everything you needed . Lovely big shower room with big walk in shower . Double doors that lead onto decking with table and chairs . We ate on our first evening in the barn courtyard and had tapas and sangria.the lady in there was so helpful and friendly . Breakfast both morning was first class and served in the beautiful restaurant. On our second evening we dined in the main restaurant. Food was amazing . Would definitely stay here again . Highly recommended.

Went to the Kings Arms at Fleggburgh for a birthday celebration meal. Great value menu selection. My wife and I had both had very tasty, beautifully presented meals. We really enjoyed the meals and a couple of drinks. The staff were smartly dressed and pleasant as always. Pleased we have such an excellent local restaurant and pub. I was staying in nearby Winterton on Sea and had read about the Kings Arms in Fleggburgh. A quick look at their website drew me in with a which has an appealing menu that had vegetarian options and reading online they were dog friendly. I put in a call and spoke with Jade who was able to book a table for me in their dog friendly area for dinner the same evening which was fantastic considering it was a Saturday night. On myarrival I was greeted with a smile and shown to my table and I could sense from the set up that I would have an enjoyable experience. This is a pub but they know how to do fine dining and make customers feel welcome and special. Often when looking for dog friendly places you can feel like you are being ‘accommodated’ by being placed in a section where there is no other use for the room etc. However, at the Kings Arms, this was certainly not the case. I enjoyed my visit and the food was outstanding and delicious that I actually booked again for dinner a few days later during my 1 week holiday to East Norfolk. On my first visit, I was looked after by Jade and the team, all very polite, friendly and professional. I chose the Green Pea and Mint Risotto for my main with a side salad of tomato, red onion and feta. The desserts menu was sufficiently extensive and it all sounded tempting. I managed to narrow it down to 2 and when the waiter came to take my order, I explained that I was torn between 2 on my shortlist. After listening to his views I opted to have the Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter Parfait. I was not disappointed with what I had chosen off the A la carte Menu that evening. Later in the week, I called up and spoke to Jade again who remembered me from my previous visit and kindly booked me in for dinner the same evening in their dog friendly section. I again was not disappointed, I had the soup of the day for my starter which was tomato and basil followed by their other vegetarian main course from the A la carte Menu - Roasted Italian Polenta dish which consisted of Salt baked celeriac, roasted artichokes, wild mushrooms, tender stem broccoli & rosemary madeira cream. Knowing I had been tempted by a few of their desserts on my initial visit, I was not going to skip the opportunity to try another one. I again narrowed it down to 2 with the sticky toffee pudding which was a contender last time remaining on my list alongside their vanilla rice pudding. Sally came to take my order and I explained my dilemma from my first visit and what I had chosen that time and asked for her views to help me decide. I opted for the vanilla rice pudding and was very happy with my choice, this was no school dinner rice pudding that’s was sure as this was in a league of its own 😋 Sally explained that this dessert has been one on their menu for many years and when it has been taken off / replaced, their is a demand to have it put back so it seems this is one of their signature desserts and proved to be a winner for me and a palatable and refreshing end to my meal. I was looked after well by Sally and the team and enjoyed both my visits to the Kings Arms in Fleggburgh. I note they have been awarded 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence and in my opinion from dining here - I can understand why as this was like a Michelin Star dining experience. I appreciated seeing vegetarian options offered on their menu here which can sometimes be limited elsewhere and also something different and not ‘boring’. This enticed me to dine here twice during a week away with my dog. I recommend dining at the Kings Arms in Fleggburgh and would happily dine here again when on holiday and am also tempted to book a stay in one of their dog friendly garden lodges. They have 3 garden lodges as well as 4 bedrooms within the main building and you have the option to use a private hot tub for an extra fee. Thank you to all the team at the Kings Arms

Excellent, went in on a busy Sunday lunchtime as a walk in, we were given a table, found all the staff polite, curtious and helpful, the food was excellent and good portions and we weren't rushed to finish, highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit

Very good food and a nice place however £4.20 for a 330ml coke and £2.20 for a soda and lime is a rip off. Happy to pay for the quality food but soft drinks are overpriced and take the edge off the experience.

Wow wow wow, stayed here in one of the garden rooms with friends, had evening meal and breakfast, could not fault a single thing, place is immaculate, impeccable service and the food was incredible, would highly recommend and can’t wait to return

Superb Sunday roast cooked to perfection. Only criticism was why only one carrot and one qjuarter of a parsnip? Don't understand why top end restaurants are so stingey on these. Wouldn't break the bank to put more root veg on. Nice pint of Timothy Taylor. Would be good to see some real ale choice rather than just one. But great food.

We were in a group of 3 couples staying overnight at the Kings Arms. From the moment we got there the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We had drinks in the restaurant area and ‘The Barn’ before checking into our cabins. We had The Owl cabin, which was immaculately clean with every attention to detail you could wish for. The decor was beautiful, towels and robes provided. Lots of space for hanging coats and jackets and storing shoes in the entrance hall of the cabin. We had a slot for the hot tub which was lovely and hot and clean. Everything worked. We then had the taster menu in the evening. Each course was imaginative and well executed, absolutely delicious!The serving staff were attentive and cheerful. The breakfast was relaxed and plentiful, again delicious with lots of choice and vegetarian options available at every meal. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, we had heard good things about the Kings Arms prior to our visit but it exceeded our expectations on every level and we look forward to visiting again.

First time dining at the Kings Arms and it was an outstanding experience. The atmosphere was great and the staff were both professional and very curtious. We were waited on by Lisa, who made us both feel welcomed and relaxed.

Some staff extremely loud, appeared to be showing off to a table of regular customers. Not expected in this genteel and very respectable establishment. Food very good and service at our table very polite and respectful.

I attended whilst staying in the area on a solo mini-break for a special event. The staff were all so welcoming and attentive, prompt service and helped with recommendations. I had the Pork Belly which was probably the tastiest meal I've had in a very long time & the warm roll was also absolutely delicious. Very much looking forward to returning when in the area again.

What an absolutely amazing experience dinning at this wonderful restaurant. From the booking of the table to enjoying the most wonderful food the whole experience was faultless. Sally was so apologetic as we wanted to stay the night but there were no rooms available and so helpful with the booking for a meal with excellent communication vie email. I've literally just arrived home from the Kings Arms and I'm so overwhelmed with everything from Jade the restaurant manger and all the staff so attentive on everything And may I congratulate the chef or chefs it's an experience and delight to taste the food you serve to us. We have been several times and even stayed overnight last year, this place does not disappoint. The food and service is amazing! We visited today for Mother’s Day lunch, bringing new family members with us and it was perfect. Slight issue with a delay in some of the desserts arriving however full explanation and apology from staff. We would highly recommend this place. A huge thank you to the chef and all staff, we will be back.

I'm leaving a review to say how bad this place was in the hope that people won't go as I want to get a table in the near future 🤣🤣🤣 In all seriousness, this food was that good it would put Gorden Ramsey to shame. Its the best meal I've ever had. I went on their busiest day, Mother's day. They had approximately 200 people to serve in the space of a few hours and yet they still managed to keep up such high quality food and service. So I wonder what the food would be like on a much less busier day? I had a salmon for my starter, then the roast Beef dinner for my main and for dessert I had Sticky toffee pudding. I wish I could tell you that one of those dishes weren't as good but all three meals were spectacular. I cant even think of another word for such exquisite food. Just imagine the food you would get in Heaven...this is it. No I was not paid for this review...If they did it would be in the form of Rum 🤣🤣🤣 Only joking...please don't go to this restaurant because if everyone knew how good it is, then I'll never get another amazing meal. So in summary, DONT GO!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Mother’s Day Lunch - daughter and I both had beef roast - was truly lovely, beef great, potatoes crispy and fluffy, tasty veg plus ordered cauliflower cheese. Strawberry tart to follow. Oh and a couple of cocktails! Service was excellent. Can’t rate it highly enough.

We booked a garden room ‘Fox’ and enjoyed the full tasting menu and flight of wines. Everything was excellent, the room, food and service are all first class. Some say it’s expensive, and it is BUT it’s worth the money!

A wonderful nights stay in the Fox room. We had Dinner in the restaurant and decided to all go for the full tasting menu and flight of wines. The food and wine were all outstanding in every way.

We wanted to try out the restaurant after a good review by Muddy Norfolk and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely friendly staff, excellent food and beautifully decorated. Also dog friendly in the bar area. We’ll definitely be back to try the tasting menu!

Managed to get a table for 5 today at about 12 noon, without a booking, but will probably book next time, as it was busy. Accommodated the children well, we were given all the menus, so the teenager had a burger from the bar menu, and the 8 and 10 year old had the children's menu. Portions were large, none of us could make it to dessert! They looked nice though. Staff were all lovely, we'll definitely be back!
