What a lovely pub this is. We come here quite a lot and enjoy sitting in the beautiful garden with our 2 lurcher dogs. The staff are always attentive and friendly, the landlord keeps a very good cellar for the real ales. The food is presented and cooked really well. Todays special Hake with cockles and sanfire on new potatoes in a creamy sauce was devoured by my partner. I had the excellent cajan chicken. The pub is a little off the Beaton track but certainly worth a visit.

The sun shone brightly, giving the pond and wildlife extra beauty, and this gave added atmosphere to the meal The meal was EXCELLENT! Good portions, so only 2 courses, but all 4 in our party fully tested the dishes. All agreed, taste, texture, quality of produce and standard of cooking and service were outstanding. Nice relaxed general ambiance within the pub and ample parking. A gem!

Been here several times over the last few months to eat for various occasions with friends and family. On each occasion the food has been superb. Great menu and quality food, cooked to perfection. A large group of us attended the Greek themed night recently. We tried everything on the menu that night (tapas!) it was beyond expectations and a simply fantastic evening. Staff are lovely and welcoming. Looking forward to going again soon

My wife and I went to The Pig & Whistle last week (£120) and this was better for less than half the price, and we had starters in that price (with a second pint) neither of which we had at the P&W. Nice hot food (something that not all places can serve) tasty and decent sized portions. Serving staff made us feel very welcome and were friendly. Thank you, we will be back.

As a family we found this pub just over 1yr ago. From the get go before you enter, you can see the love that has gone into the surroundings with the flowers/veg plot/grass seating area/chickens/fish pond. The welcome was relaxed and friendly. Food has been gorgeous every single time, with nothing that is to much bother for our little fussy ones. The desserts were a big hit too!. We celebrated fireworks night there too!, What an amazing show, with value for money ticket and scrumptious farmer food stalls and a live band playing music, fantastic. All in all this out favourite pub!.

We were house hunting in the area and popped in for a late breakfast and has the sausage sandwich which was scrummy. The service was great and we were seated at the back of the pub overlooking the pond which was full of wildlife, we loved it. This is a property country pub with an authentic interior and it was clear that there were several locals in when we left around 1ish. We are really hoping to move to the area (fingers crossed!) and the The Bell Inn would be our local which would be great.

We booked a table after our daughter found The Bell online as our son was at a party locally. When explaining I wasn't sure exactly when we would arrive, that was a non-issue. Food: we shared the camembert between three, which was about right in terms of amount and delicious. Mains of hunters chicken (piping hot, tasty and lovely skin-on fries) and Mac Cheese (also lovely), together with my wife choosing the garlic mushrooms and a side. Despite "good intention" and advance sight of the menu, we were sufficiently full to have no room for pudding, which I suspect was a mistake.Drink: strongly recommend the malbec. Tea and water.Service: friendly without being overbearing.Overall: not difficult to see why The Bell gets the reviews it does. Thank you.

Having recently loved to Tolleshunt Major, we have visited this lovely quaint pub only a few times. Andy and Rosie are increbly friendly and accommodating hosts, and all the staff are fabulous. The food is OUT OF THIS WORLD!If I could give more than five stars I would, seriously! The scampi and chips is to die for, the fish and chips is a large size and my partner loves it. The burgers are homemade and so can definitely recommend the Cajun chicken burger. The Deep fried Brie is a MUST HAVE! It’s a great starter to share and absolutely phenomenal! Today however was the best meal yet, roast beef and all the trimmings! My goodness this place is amazing!

Visited as a table for 4. We were greeted with a warm welcome, cosy feel to the pub area. The restaurant area itself was a bit cold and unwelcoming but suspect this might be different during the summer months. All food was presented well with generous portions. Staff were lovely and friendly. For me the menu was a little limited, I had hoped the specials board may have added some variety but this wasn’t the case(but then I can be a fussy eater). Good pub food though and great value.

The bell is way out in the country has space outside as well as inside. The food is good pub grub and the price is very reasonable, if you go into the dining room it feels more like a restaurant than a pub so give a nice surrounding for a meal looking out onto a duck pond and the drinks are normal pub prices.

My friend and I hadn't seen each other for months and booked to have a good meal and lengthy chat . We were shown to our table for 2 just inside the restaurant and the waitress took our order which for me was an omelette with salad and new potatoes as I'm on a diet, when it arrived I had been given omelette salad and sauté potatoes but also a side dish of boiled potatoes and more salad ( did the think I was a rabbit?). I called the waitress and she took the plate away and removed the sauté potatoes but she gave the impression that she wasn't happy. As we were sitting there a man started setting up his amplifier , speakers etc right next to us and the the music started, it was virtually impossible to talk as it was quiet noisy so we moved to another table and attempted to have a conversation there. There were 2 waitresses that served us and it was not 'Service with a smile' far from it , we were very disappointed with the pub and will not be going back there again!!!!

As we arrived it was obvious this was a real country pub, like pubs used to be, and as you park in the huge parking area, front and there is more out back, the place almost puts its arms around you ..... then on entering there is logs stacked, woodburners glowing and a real sense of warmth and good times ahead... we drank, we snacked at the bar, they leave wonderful snacks, cheeses, onions and allsorts at the weekends, for nibbles, a bit unusual these days to see that!. friends and family enjoyed an assortment of drinks, they have an incredible choice on offer and the bar staff, know what they are talking about with great flair and knowledge. There are exposed beams , a public bar and like a lounge bar with seating and tables for meals, with a conservatory to the rear, looking out to a

A cold snowy winter’s day, a lovely log burning stove with chairs next to it . Simple but tasty menu. Sounds perfect? I wish! Seated around the fire with a table offered from which to eat, we were subjected to the rudest and snidiest comments from the bar clientele, who even went so far as to take our photograph on a phone, complaining about our being next to the stove, which as mentioned , was offered by the charming lady at the bar. Comments were in earshot, so rather than have desert, we left . Avoid this place like the plague if you want a welcoming atmosphere .

This was my second visit and my husbands third so apologies for nor reviewing sooner. This place is an absolute gem. Great food, lovely team. I had a fish finger sandwich in lovely granary bread, my daughter had a cheese toastie and the hubster (on his first trip out after knee replacement surgery) had a cooked breakfast. Everything was delicious. We also had a couple of chip sides...just fantastic! We were beaten but had a couple of cake takeaways too. The chocolate cake and fruit cake have been given a big 5/5 this afternoon. Thanks to the lovely ladies that looked after us today

Visited Black pig on a Sunday morning for brunch and it was very tasty. The presentation of the dishes is fantastic along with the excellent ingredients make each meal very enjoyable. We ordered the veggie brunch and Eggs Royale which I added a portion of streaky bacon as an extra. We also had the hash browns as a side dish which would have been nicer if the portion was for four and not three to save fighting for the odd one . Overall well worth a visit for some quality food.
