The Vintage Rose Tea Room in Maldon

A wonderful gem of a coffee shop, beautiful decor, great service (staff are very attentive) and a beautiful themed afternoon tea. The attention to detail was spot on. I visited with my daughter and one afternoon tea between the 2 of us was the perfect amount. We will be back, and The Vintage Rose Tea Room is highly recommended by us.

A little gem tucked away in Maldon. Food very good with lots of choice to cater for many dietary needs. Hayley and team offered excellent service. We will be back!

Today we had a magical Narnia themed tea. The room is so atmospheric, with snow flakes and snow dusted trees, lampposts and twinkling lights. Greated with a very welcome frosted hot chocolate which set the scene for tasty sandwiches a huge scone with jam and cream, cake, chocolate and a pretty cardboard teapot with homemade Turkish delight. My friends and I enjoyed the food and setting very much. The veggie/ gluten free tea was imaginative and tasty. We will return.

Cannot recommend this place enough!! Quality food and well worth the price ! I recently booked for me and my nephews to have the Narnia afternoon tea , It was AMAZING. From the moment you first walk in ! The decor is absolutely amazing ! So much care and thought gone into it ! The food on the afternoon tea is so filling ! So much quantity for the price ! I've tried a few afternoon teas in my time and this is definitely one of the best , in quantity, quality and price ! Kids will definitely love this place too !

Good points: nice ambience and crockery. Not so good: afternoon tea should always be about the cake. Sandwiches bulky and no choice of fillings. Scones - no choice of plain or fruit and were looked like rock cakes. Width slice of Victoria sponge was about 1.5cm and was so skinny it broke when you tried to pick it up and a debatable home made shortbread round. For £25 per head quality/quantity a rip off. Very tight space when full, needing to move for people wanting the toilet. If the food was amazing all the rest would go unnoticed.

Had a Hen party on the 30th September and it was absolutely amazing!! Sandwiches were completely fresh with great fillings, cakes were delicious and staff were consistent and very helpful with dietary needs. The cakes catered for everyone in our hen party being gluten and dairy free which not many places do. We had a wonderful time. Anyone wishing to book for a Hen party definitely should. I would 100% be booking another afternoon tea!!

I came here the other day with few friends , they were very catering towards me being vegan and another one of us being vegetarian. There is so much on offer ! Most of their cakes are vegan and dairy free too ! Would 100% recommend ! Amazing atmosphere and very welcoming staff ! Will definitely be back !

Went for a hens do afternoon tea, had the tea room to ourselves as there were 14 ladies. Food was disappointing bread on the sandwiches was dry as had obviously been prepared ahead of time. Cakes were also sliced very thin. Unfortunately we won't be going back.

Charming tea room with varying themes every couple of months, food was lovely and the decorations / theme was wonderful. The tea room is tucked away from the hustle and bustle and we will definitely be back.

Cracking little cafe. It was all Harry Potter these when we went and the scones were lovely. The other meals we saw being served looked damn good as well

Fantastic Tea Room. Amazing choice, stunning decor and a lovely host. We popped in for tea and cake and were spoilt with the choices avalible. Hoping to return next time we visit the are and would definitely recommend.

First time visit yesterday went for a friend's birthday, it was absolutely lovely so delicious great atmosphere and staff were very friendly please visit this hidden gem 100% recommend.

Fantastic place! We went to have a light lunch, and both had the toasties - they came with loads of lovely salad, delicious homemade coleslaw and some plain crisps. I had the chicken, mozzarella and pesto toasties, which were gorgeous! Very generous helpings, it was a bit more than a light lunch. We also got a huge pot of tea, and the service was really friendly. The place was decorated with an Alice in Wonderland theme, which gave it a great atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Really nice staff and food huge selection of tea's in China cups and tea pots with LARGE coffee available too.

A charming little tearoom. We were made to feel very welcome and the service was excellent. Aside from the wonderful assortment of teas, coffees, hot chocolates and other drinks they also have a wide variety of cakes and sandwiches. We would definitely recommend this tearoom and will certainly revisit as dogs are welcome inside as well.

Lovely tea and cakes in a quirky Mary Poppins themed interior, or sit outside as we did and look at the blue sky. Off the main road but they have a board out so look out for it, all in all, a good find and one of the few tea rooms still serving at 4pm. Nice!

With masks on, we entered Lewis Carroll's Wonderland! Amazing decor! We expected the White Rabbit to run through at any time!The cheese sandwich was perfect: fresh bread and plenty of tasty cheddar; my wife's meal was presented with such care and attention: the salad was a work of art!I had the peppermint & nettle tea --- so refreshing.Friendly service throughout.We're going again today!

We accidentally came across this tearoom while walking around the high street and it was a great find. We had our dog with us so wanted a dog friendly place and they were very accommodating. The staff were very kind and friendly, and offered us a treat for our dog. We all had a cream tea and the scones were delicious, with plenty of cream, and tea came in lovely china. The menu was very extensive and we plan to come back soon.

We had a lockdown afternoon tea delivered it was fantastic well worth the money. We have also been for a tea prior to lock down. A well run family business

We were down in Essex visiting relatives and came across this wonderful little tea room in Maldon. We all just had tea and scones which were some of the largets fresh scones we have ever had. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

A first visit to this cosy tea room, with friends, for lunch. We received a lovely welcome from the owner, who was very attentive. The food was excellent, and very good value. Will definitely visit again.

Made a first visit just before Christmas with friends we'd been intending to go here for some time so we thought we'd have the xmas afternoon cream tea. Well first of all the staff were very friendly and obviously knew some of there regulars but your made to feel welcome upon entering in this rather cosy and comfortable tea room, atmosphere is superb.The afternoon tea was certainly very fresh although two types of cheese sandwich seemed a bit odd for an xmas afternoon tea, but the whole package was very nice and filling, with the offer of left over's to go in take away, which is always nice.Unlimited tea/coffee was very welcome and to repeat the all the staff were very friendly and chatty, which if there like it all year round makes you wonder why the place isn't bigger they all make a great team.

Called in as we were looking for somewhere for a coffee. We ended up with toasted pannini with salad and crisps were very tasty and well presented. The soup was hot, thick and came with 2 slices of bread and plenty of butter. Coffee came in a large cup and plenty of different teas to choose from. The cakes looked amazing but we were too full up so will just have to go back.

My friend and I visited this tea room last week and were very pleased with the food, the service and the prices. It is located in a courtyard just off the High Road with outside seating and cosy seating inside. The couple running it were very pleasant and attentive and the choice of food was unbelievable. We both had sandwiches which came with tasty fillings and freshly prepared salad and homemade coleslaw. We enjoyed large pots of hot freshly make tea which we followed with warm homemade scones with cream and jam. The tea room is beautifully clean and all food is freshly prepared and the cakes are all home made. Prices were also very reasonable and the whole experience was very good value. Although we dont have them - all types of food allergies are catered for. I would thoroughly recommend this tea room and will visit them again when next in Maldon.

Just wanted to say thank you to Hayley and her staff for our son's birthday celebration. He is both gluten and dairy free and they were able to cater for his dietary requirements and provide cakes and a selection of sandwiches. Food is excellent, a lovely setting, and judging by the photos and comments received it was a hugh success. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning again when next in the area.

My first time here and it won't be my last. Staff are so friendly. The decor is awesome. So cosy. The food was excellent. Was so happy with my Gluten free Toastie and the next time I will be having the cakes and scones which are Gluten free. There is also Vegan options. Brilliant.

We have recently been here for lunch. It was really lovely! I’m vegetarian and my 5 year old daughter is coeliac (gluten free). There is a great selection sandwiches which they made gluten free plus most cakes were gluten free and there was a huge selection. My daughter for once didn’t feel excluded from being able to eat what she wanted and she had the biggest smile on her face! The lady who runs it is coeliac herself so came out and informed us everything was cleaned down properly for the gf food prep! Amazing

A great tea room, its places like this that make Maldon

We have been using this tearoom for a few years now and never been disappointed. Very friendly couple running this place, the food is awesome and beautifully presented. Customers all leave with smiles on their faces. We just have to keep going back.

The vintage rose tearoom was gorgeous! The people were so friendly and couldn’t do more for us including giving my mum a birthday card when we arrived. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. Really intimate vintage setting with beautiful china, antique lace table cloths and absolutely delicious food. Definitely going back.

Friendly Staff, scones to die for and a huge teapot of tea - what more could you ask for? We will definitely return and recommend highly.

Was told about this and as in Maldon booked a table. Really tiny but spotless. Vintage tablecloths and crockery and an eclectic mix of nick-nacks. Tea came up in a teapot. I ordered a jacket potato with prawns and salad and it was delicious. Large prawns not the teeny ones usually served up elsewhere. There was a table with a large selection of home made cakes which finished off the lunch nicely. Inexpensive excellent tasty food.

Visited here with friends, my friend suggested it because I do not eat dairy food and she knew that the cafe was accommodating.

Visited this tea room for lunch, my first visit and what a lovely place it is. Delicious food and coffee, the cakes look wonderful, will be back to try these! Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. The tea room is hidden down a walkway but it is certainly worth visiting if you are in Maldon. It would be a good way to finish off a walk along the prom and is only 5 minutes away.

Wow! My wife and I went here for afternoon tea on a recommendation from a friend. It certainly didn't disappoint. From the way the table was laid out, to the friendly greeting, this place goes to great lengths to make it a special occasion. No where else I know allows you to chose your sandwiches meaning they are freshly made and everything to your liking. The scones are by far the best I've had locally, if not anywhere. I only managed one slice of cake so the other one boxed up to take home. Don't be fooled by its size or that it's just off the lower end of the high street, you genuinely won't be disappointed. Looking at other plates coming out we'll be sure to return for lunch as well. Can't wait to return.
