The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

Had lunch here advertised home made pie. We had pie and chips 2 cups of tea. £25 if it was good I wouldn't have cared but it was awful. Both of us felt horrible. There wasn't even any veg with it. Should have known when most people was only having drinks. Will not be going again, make your own minds up.

Can you believe they charge you for having a seat in the restaurant? I was tired of driving, wanted a quick break and bought a deal. Had to pay for a table, also they charged me wrong for the mussarela bits saying it was not part of the deal? How come? I will never come back to this place. Lack of human touch to deal with people and tourists.

Very good service , relaxed atmosphere. Will revisit.

food was fairly poor this time. wasn't the best. the ceaser salad wasn't the best the chicken was dry and the croutons were so oily they were disgusting. the soup had far to much basil in and wasn't nice. the service was terrible we waiting a while on arrival to be seated and then waited ages to have a drinks order and then ordering food and then waited ages for food and when we had young children getting upset because they were waiting made it not very enjoyable. then we had to ask three times! for the bill at the end of meal again with young children getting upset made the meal stressful. and defiantly not worth the drive out there. more time needs to be taken with service staff and not be rushing around and also made us feel concerned when the staff were rushing around and we had two young children in high chairs felt like the staff were going to knock them over! just need to slow down and be more aware of tables.

Tuve una muy buena experiencia gracias a Divyesh, Él fue amable, atento, y me hizo grandes recomendaciones durante toda la noche. Fui allí alrededor de las 8: 30 PM y salió alrededor de las 11 PM y todo estaba bien, el lugar era agradable también. Mi bebida era buena, y el servicio era rápido sin sentir prisa. Me aseguraré de volver periódicamente. Recomiendo preguntar por Divyesh.

Me and my partner went here for brunch first thoughts was it was a lovely place inside but after being seated and another table came we realised that no table was cleared of the last persons plates etc even tho some staff were doing nothing,however we would like to compliment the 2 hardworking young men preparing the food, after we ordered our food arrives and it is not the correct food that was ordered the person who came over with the food went back and brought us the right food whilst stating that we were in the wrong and said “it is your food “ even tho it was a completely different thing, my partner also wanted a scotch egg so ordered the ploughman’s platter that includes a scotch Egg it arrived without and we weren't told they had ran out on ordering it also never came with the cheese it stated on menu

Organised an afternoon tea for a 30th anniversary for good friends. On arrival table was not ready, kept waiting for 15/20 minutes. Requested gluten free, plain scones, which came with fruit. I gave at least 3 weeks notice and was not informed that they couldn’t do it. It was important as I am allergic. The scone was replaced with a scoop of sorbet. A poor replacement. I was also left without my food as it was taken away whilst my friends ate. We were never asked if we wanted more drink and trying to get the attention of the staff was difficult, to say the least. All in all very dissapointing. I was expecting a more professional and special experience. It cost 138 pounds, so not cheap. I will be surprised but impressed if I am contacted. I am a member of the National Trust.

Worst service ever .. rubbish portion of garlic over price … pizza undercooks … hairs in my food .. would not recommend at all.. drinks all ice no liqueur

Took family out for Sunday lunch just can not fault the food Michael and barstaff so friendly and helpful also not forgetting manager Steve in the kitchen well done all . Thanks Jan and Alan

We have been before many times and thought what good value the lighter bites were and staff friendly. However we decided to have a loaded omelette which was loaded , but it was no bigger than 4 inches in diameter, chips were hard and it cost almost £11 miserable staff, who when I complained she just said they are normally that size, she did apologise, but got the impression it would not be reported back to the kitchen!!

Walked over from long clawson with the dogs for some lunch Good burgers, decent selection of beers and friendly staff, all reasonably priced. Good outdoors area for the dogs and a play park for the toddler. Will definitely return

We called in for a pint and light lunch after a morning’s country walk and were not disappointed. This is a ‘proper’ pub that also serves a limited range of food and it is in a rural location. It is good to see it surviving...

This is the second time we have been here now. The first time was just for some take away chips and curry sauce. Returned a few weeks later again on the way home from the lakes and had the pensioners special (we aren’t pensioners). Perfect size if you aren’t starving. Fish was lovely with light crispy batter, lovely chips and again … their amazing curry sauce with the bits in. This place (plaice) is lovely and clean. As a lot of fish and chip places can be a bit on the grubby side so keep up the good work.

Prices for all items on menu way over the top. Quality - nothing special . Staff very good and attentive. Decor good and fresh.

Just love it! Friendly staff and delicious pizzas & kebabs. The only place where I order from ☺️
