Belle and Joes at Timmermans in Gedling

We have been before many times and thought what good value the lighter bites were and staff friendly. However we decided to have a loaded omelette which was loaded , but it was no bigger than 4 inches in diameter, chips were hard and it cost almost £11 miserable staff, who when I complained she just said they are normally that size, she did apologise, but got the impression it would not be reported back to the kitchen!!

We been coming here for many years. But since the new management have taken over it seems to have gone downhill service today terrible I told the lady who served us the chips on our meal we’re hard we didn’t eat any of them. She said I tell the kitchen and walked off no sorry or anything. The meal itself was poor barely any salad either. I won’t be back we will go to hollybeck better service and food and prices.

So disappointed to find the restaurant had gone self service. We either had table service or ordered your food/drink at counter then brought to you. So customer friendly, but not now. I would hate to be there at lunch time when the queues would be awful I imagine. So sad.

We ordered the carvery dinner one small and one regular which when we received our dinner and started to eat it we found out it was cold so sent it back and then was presented with a second dinner which turned out to be not much hotter which we couldn't eat. We will not be going back there the staff were very lax a daisy and were leaving food at the serving station to go cold before taking them out to customers we weren't the only people who wasn't satisfied as another lady came up to us and said her veg wasn't up to scratch either and I went asked to speak to the person in charge she was very rude and walked away from us when we said we wouldn't be coming back again and didn't even have the decency to ask us why

We’ve visited multiple times before but the last twice the service has been appalling. Took nearly 30 minutes for someone to take our order (We went to the till twice to ask to order but told to go back to the table). A further 25 minutes for 2 coffees and a scone to arrive. The cake is lovely but they’ve put all the prices up and cut the portions to tiny slithers. It’s a shame as we’ve been going for years. There seems to be plenty of staff but no organisation. A smile now and again and an acknowledgment that you are still waiting would go a long way.

This restaurant is dreadful! Food is poor , and the place is poorly managed it’s dirty cob webs dusty light fitting’s cutlery on the floor , our food complaint was ignored , EHO need to vet this place

We arrived at 11 am and so waited for lunch which was served from 11.30 am. I ordered a cheese sandwich with chutney and chips. The portion size was fair but one slice of the bread was hard as it could have been the first slice cut that day. The chutney was really sweet with a little cheese sprinkled over it. The chips were fine. It came with a small container of red cabbage coleslaw which I did not eat. The coffee was bitter. I did not finish my meal. The staff were polite and the restaurant clean. Total cost of the meal, which included two coffees, was £12.84. Overpriced for the quality.

Called in whilst wandering round the garden centre - Saturday dinner time. Garden centre itself was most disappointing and the restaurant wasn’t that much better. Signs up telling you to wait to be seated - no one came, another customer told us just to go and sit down as they had the same issue. The restaurant area was clean, staff came to take our order, efficient, but that’s about it. Seemed rather miserable. Food was okay - nothing special. Won’t bother returning when in the area.

We called for lunch,last visited a year ago and I was very disappointed. I felt the food was overpriced for the quality and portion size, this was nothing special and more like sub standard cafe food, I would not go out of my way to return.

Visited today, usually love the cafe here but today we were very disappointed! No friendly greeting on arrival just miserable, grumpy staff, felt like we were putting them out just by being there! There was no atmosphere as the staff didn't even seem to smile or interact with each other never mind the customers, actual service and food ok but need to definitely work on their customer service and cheer up !!

I have visited this garden and cafe for many years. I remember it before, when it was a few tables at the end of the greenhouse. I have always enjoyed visiting and the food has been of a good standard. Today I visited with my husband for lunch. I had the cheese sandwich with chips and my husband had the toasted bacon and Brie. My sandwich was fine, but it was cheap pre grated cheese and the chips were a few frozen chunky style, which were undercooked. My husbands sandwich was all bread. Hardly any filling, again his chips were under cooked and quite expensive for the small portion he paid extra for. I did hear one lady complaining about the cheap teabags and asking for a fresh one. Sadly it is at best a 3rd rate garden centre cafe now. It’s gone down hill since the take over, and not cheap either for small portions. I hope this is addressed as they will be loosing so much trade over time, and I would hate to think I will never go back after 25 years or so of visiting.

It was my wife's bithday. Food was second rate and overpriced and portions were meager. Staff were unhelpful and downright miserable. Would never go there again and I will make sure everyone I know is aware of what a poorly run service you offer.

I visited today with my husband for a quick lunch. This is the first time we have been since before the garden centre was taken over. When we walked into the restaurant it was quite busy so I was hopeful that the food would be good. Service was slow but we didn't mind as we could see it was busy and the staff were all polite and friendly. I ordered a chicken and bacon ciabatta and my husband an egg sandwich. When the food came my husbands looked the part with nice thick bread, a side salad and some Coleslaw but when he opened the sandwich there was just a smear of egg mayo on the bread. My ciabatta came and it had 1 rasher of bacon and at first glance no chicken. On closer inspection there was chicken but it was so thinly sliced it basically blended into the bread and could barely be seen. It tasted of nothing. There was hot food coming out the kitchen which did look good and I now wish i had ordered something else. Shame as this is local and would make a great lunch spot but not somewhere I will be visiting for food again.

Visited with a friend fir the first time since the centre had changed hands. Very disappointed. Staff were too busy clearing tables to serve us and when we tried to attract their attention they were abrupt. We both ordered jacket potatoes. These were over cooked and soft. Neither of us enjoyed our lunch. We will not be returning. Such a shame as regularly visited when Timmermans.

Just ok. The staff are we’re a bit young and either miserable looking or lacking gumption (picture Kevin and Perry, not really wanting to be there). The child’s ice cream sundae was a bowl of ice cream and definitely not a sundae. One slice of cake was £4.20. It’s a pity as has the potential to be ace. I’ll give it another go as I really want it to be a fab destination for some nice treats, but my first visit under new management was poor.

We only went in for coffee. They weren't exactly busy. 30 mins is far too long to wait. Staff having a laugh and drinking cans and when I asked if our drinks where ready, she didn't rush to find out. So we left and had coffee at home.

Popped in for coffee and scones today. We were very impressed by their prep for spacing with screens and distance. Staff wearing visors and other measure made us feel quite safe.

Have visited here several times and although the food is always tasty and well presented the portions seem to be getting much smaller. On our latest visit we both had the full English breakfast @ £6.99 each. There was just about enough for me but my hubby was really disappointed with the portion size. We also asked for our sausage to be well done but it was only cooked on one side. We thought the price of £2.99 for tea for two was really good. The new "set up" works well and everything was being regularly cleaned etc. The wooden trellis partitions between the tables are very nice as you now feel as though you are in your own little booth and quite private. The staff were friendly and adhering to the new rules. You cannot use the toilets in the restaurant, you have to use the ones outside near the plant section. All in all, tasty food but portions too small compared to some other places we have visited.

We went to the garden centre also to the coffee shop, the coffee there is amazing. They have worked so hard to make the restaurant a really safe and comfortable place to visit. The tables are in their own private bay. We felt safe and secure. It made a really lovely atmosphere. I hope they keep it like that, it was private and almost intimate, as you are in your own space. We are visiting again tomorrow.

You can’t really do anything these days without a hint of trepidation but if you visit Timmermans Garden Centre and/or dine at Belle and Joes Kitchen there is absolutely no reason to have any fears at all.Both concerns are immaculately presented to a level that can only be achieved through staff with an eye for detail, a thorough understanding of their customers and a genuine love for what they do.We bought a couple of plants and enjoyed a pre-booked (I’d recommend pre-booking as the number of tables is greatly reduced) breakfast: a beautifully cooked, generous helping and well presented full English order taken at your table, served with appropriate PPE by thoughtful and very pleasant staff. All tables are suitably spaced and separated by screens, floor markings give a clear one-way movement guide for everyone and refurbished toilets are available nearby replacing the original in-cafe facility which is now exclusively available to people with disabilities.It is very apparent that a tremendous amount of hard work has gone into enabling the reopening of Belle and Joes. That and the garden centre are immaculately presented and changes made which ensure the maximum safety of all staff and customers without spoiling the shopping or dining experience.Well done everyone. You deserve all the success that comes your way.

We have eaten here a few times and never been disappointed.. We usually have tea and cakes but the last twice we have been, we had soup and cheese sandwiches. First time we had Broccoli and Stilton and second time it was roasted tomatoes both were very tasty. We will look forward to trying a different flavour next visit.....

Called in for Sunday lunch and despite it being busy we still got a table without having to queue. On our previous visits we have always had snacks and never been disappointed, however this time we were slightly disappointed. We ordered two Sunday lunches, 1 beef 1 pork. The beef one came with a Yorkshire pudding however the pork one didn't. On asking the waitress why, we were told that the pork dinner had stuffing instead. That was ok with us but it would help if the menu stated what the meals came with ie what veg etc. Instead it just says "beef" or "pork" Sunday roast. If we hadn't asked what veg it came with we would have ended up with certain veg on the plate which we didn't want including red cabbage. Also my hubby would have had beef so as to get a Yorkshire pudding. Although the meal was very tasty (in my opinion) it wasn't a traditional Sunday roast. It was very busy and a little chaotic. If passing, we would call in again for snacks but not for Sunday lunch. Two Sunday lunch and pot of tea for two £20.97

Just had an amazing lunch on our return from a graduation. The food was really tasty. I couldn’t give 5 stars as the service was really slow and a little chaotic. One dessert came quite a while after the first and we needed to chase before it arrived.

This garden center restaurant has great food ! Went here today with my mum & sister & the food was lovley. I had the fish & chips, you get big portions & i really enjoyed it. There is also a really big choice of cakes here that are all home made & are amazing. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Never had hot food here but decided to have scampi & chips. Food was presented really nicely. Not keen on the homemade tartare sauce. Shame very friendly staff kept walking by our table but didn’t take away our plates or ask if we might like something else. Will continue to visit.

Came here for the first time, found a table and within a minute we were handed menus, shortly after, our order was taken, the place was very busy so I expected a wait on food, but that wasn't the case, the food arrived promptly and was very nice too, the salad dressing was lovely, we then chose cake, also delicious with our cappuccinos, so in all, food was good, coffee was good, service was good, happy visit

Yet another lovely coffee break at Belle and Joes. This time we enjoyed the outdoor seating. Lively latte and tea cakes. Just nice to chill and be waited on for a while. Always a pleasure

Belle and Joes at Timmermans is set in Timmermans Garden Centre. I love this garden centre and when we go, we always have a drink and lunch here. Could do with a few more vegan options (although if you ask they will accommodate where they can) but its always good food.

We returned to Belle & Joe's Kitchen for lunch this time. We have been a couple of times for tea & a cake but always thought that the meals they served for lunches looked good.

On a recent visit early enough for breakfast. with a full English and eggs benedict 2 coffee's and change from £20 this was a great place to eat. normally we have a lunch or just sample some of the marvellous cakes. But it was good to try the breakfast one slight disappointment was no black pudding but all our food was cooked and presented well, tasty fresh and good quality. Set us up well for the day. With a large Café the service was very good and a nice place to enjoy the food. Very light , bright and welcoming.

Very busy during our visit but the staff were quick, polite and friendly. I generally have the Club Sandwich as each time it appears on the table, I'm amazed at the size of the thing. It's a full blown meal on its own and beautiful with it. The cafe itself is always clean and tidy and a pleasant place to have lunch. An excellent way to spend half an hour during a visit to the garden centre.

Came to Timmermans with family to celebrate daughters 1st birthday and the service was excellent,attentive staff, we didn't feel rushed and even my dad who has never been before commented how good the food looks. His words were the food looks the business. Keep up the excellent work.

Took two of my grandchildren for cake and hot chocolate as they had seen the amazing photos on Facebook. They were not disappointed. Beautiful homemade cakes and huge portions!!!. Neither could finish it all. They both loved the hot chocolate. My husband had cheese on toast, goodness me, two doorsteps of beautiful bread with a ton of cheese!!. So, we visited for the first time after seeing the Nottingham Live review saying it’s the best cafe in Nottinghamshire, and believe when I say this, I highly doubt this.

I visited Belle and Joe’s on 19/02/2019 and I was hugely disappointed. I wanted to order a vegetarian breakfast which is advertised with toast on the chalkboard. I proceeded to give my order to the waitress and she informed me that the toast was made with lard (both brown and white) and that the only vegetarian option was ciabatta bread, which wouldn’t be appropriate for beans on toast. This is very misleading, imagine if the waitress had forgotten to tell us! The kitchen also where not serving any other food, just breakfast items at 11am.

My husband and I decided to go out for a Sunday breakfast. Deciding on Timmermans garden centre. The little restaurant there is lovely, home made cakes and scones. I had the eggs royal and my husband the eggs benedict both were amazing. Thoroughly recommend .

Taken there by my brother and sister in law we all had a lovely lunch followed by the most wonderful flapjack I have ever tasted. I just wish I lived nearer and could taste the other sweet treats they have

Met a friend for tea and cake at Timmermans. Despite how busy it was with all the extra Christmas activities, we found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. Would recommend a visit.

This has always been a place for good coffee & cakes, especially the scones. My husband recently sampled the bacon sandwiches (bacon butties he calls them), and they were lovely! Staff are always friendly, efficient and welcoming. Its becoming well known and so gets busy at times. Not unexpected because its so good.

We eat regularly at Belle and Joe's and cannot recommend it enough. The staff are lovely and the food is yummy! Especially the carrot cake!!

Visited this cafe again at the weekend and was taken aback at how busy it was! We had to queue for a table. The lady explained that it was a busy month because it was December and the Winter Wonderland was attracting a lot of people. We had a little wait for the food but we could see the chefs working non stop and therefore did not mind. When it arrived the Sunday roast was delicious!! We will go back as all the staff look like they are working very hard and the food is great!

Life's hectic enough. On a rare day away from work with my family, we came to visit Santa at Timmermans. Afterwards we went for food at Belle & Joe's cafe. It was 11.45, an ideal time for my two young children to eat lunch, the menu were brought to us, including the Children's menu. Once we were ready to order, we were told some food on the children's menu couldn't be made until midday. It stopped us ordering for the kids, so we ordered 2 breakfasts, these came promptly but the eggs were liquified mucus, so asked to replace and by the time we'd finished, the new eggs arrived. My advice would be if you're prepared to spend £20-30 for a lunch, find a nice welcoming and friendly establishment.

We popped as we usually do for breakfasts and usually quite good but this time sad to report it's very very poor. The breakfast was overcooked on the eggs and undercooked on the bacon. My toast was stuck on the top not on a separate plate and the meal was swimming in grease so much that some truckstops looked a better option. It's sad it's fallen so far but complacency seems to have set in and standards dropped. We won't be back ever.

Had a late breakfast when visiting with friends. There is a varied menu selection and the prices are reasonable. The service is very good and staff pleasant.

Have visited previously and have had mixed opinions but mainly positive. This time we called in for snacks. One tea, one Latte, two rounds of toast and a buttered fruit scone, £8.04. The toast was two huge slices of granary uncut bread which was lovely. The scone had an unusual taste to it which wasn't to my liking so I left it. When we mentioned this when paying the bill we were told that the scones hadn't come out as usual that morning so a member of staff tasted them and said they were ok, but by her own admission, she will eat anything. I do think they would have been better asking a member of staff with more discerning taste buds. There was a lovely selection of cakes etc. The staff were friendly and it was clean.

Have visited several times since I wrote my last poor review which I stand by but I have to ay on all subsequent visits it has been outstanding as it was on our first visit, so I will put my dab review last time down to an off day.... The highlight here are the gorgeous breakfasts and the cakes..... I am a pastry chef myself and I have to say the home made cakes here are as good as you will find in any coffee house out side of London, In Particular the millionaires short read is the best I have ever eaten anywhere and always have to buy extra to bring home... although thick and oozing it is not teeth rottingly sweet as most... its the closets thing to eating heaven as you can get,,, and I have to mention the service which is always efficient and friendly but the new waitress... I think she has only ben there about 10 days is outstanding, friendly informative and funny and remembered us from a visit a few days prior... top marks to her and she is a great addition to the team.... will be back very soon

Visited today for the first time in around a year, and we was really disappointed to see the standard of service was really below what we have been known to expect. No milk served with Tea, had to ask, then wait. Not enough K&F;'s or Serviettes, had to get our own. Sunday dinner was served and I had 1 piece of carrot, 2 broccoli, 2 cauliflower and some shredded cabbage. Asked for desserts/pudding and had to wait 20 minutes to place order, Asked for extra drinks and they came after we had finished our desserts. The plates were left on our table until desserts arrived! A really disappointing experience overall (the bill was £97.00 for 6, 4 adults, 2 children)

Called at Timmermans for the first time. Went to Belle and Joe's and was impressed with table service. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our tea and black current roulade came very quickly after ordering despite the restaurant being nearly full. Would highly recommend.

7th visit here, the breakfast is second to none, the staff are really pleasant, after my full English on a Sunday I couldn’t eat again till the afternoon, really fills you up, 100% satisfied.

Been here lots of times, but keep forgetting to give it a mention. The food here is fantastic for a garden center. They do a great breakfast & afternoon tea is lovley, with plenty of choice. I'v heard they do a good sunday lunch as well.

Had a fantastic afternoon with my husband. Went into the cafe and ordered two jacket potatoes and they were absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef. We went round the fish area and bought some plants. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

As regular visitors to Belle & Joe's Kitchen, my wife and i have always been given the highest level of Customer Care/Service. The staff are always very friendly and patient while giving advice and assisting with the menu. There is a wide choice of items on the menu along with a good selection of coffee. If it is a full meal or just a snack, you are looking for then we can personally recommend Belle & Joe's Kitchen.

First visit here and very impressed with the quality of the food and service. Shall be returning soon.

We are frequent diners at Belle &. Joes and always enjoy their food. But today was our first Sunday lunch and it was absolutely fantastic. The Yorkshire Puddings were the best we have ever tasted. Everything was well cooked just like home made - but better ! We will definitely do this again, especially as it was so reasonable £8.99 for the main course - Roast Beef or Pork.

Regular visitor and always the first to be mentioned when thinking about having lunch out. Also does a good full English breakfast, and good if you just want coffee and cake. Normal light lunch menu has a good selection, but 'specials' served from 12.00 noon. Only a small selection of 'specials' but all made with locally sourced ingredients and value for money. Always great service.

We popped in for a little visit with some friends. We had a beautiful Salmon plate it was absolutely lovely. Chef with tattoos is not bad looking either hehe

A wonderful place to eat at any time of the day - breakfasts are really good both in quality and price, we usually arrange a weekly visit. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the eating area is well lit and not crowded with tables giving it a pleasant openness.

We visit this garden centre frequently, we find restaurant very good and staff helpful and friendly. The downside to this garden centre is the lack of thought for disabled people in the car park, there are two notices, one recently moved to the other side of the car park but the yellow parking lines are non-existent!! Come on Timmermans surely if you care you can do better than this!

We visited today for lunch, it was very busy, only 1 table for 2, the rest were for 6 people, so we took the table for 2, big mistake next to the kitchen door, the tables were so close together the waiting staff were having to squezze by, we kept having to move to keep out of the way of having trays being lifted over our heads. Customers trying to squezze by.

An amazing restaurant/cafe with delicious food and wonderful staff. We have visited here hundreds of times and have never been disappointed whether it was for a quick cuppa and cake or a leisurely lunch- our favourite go to place.

My husband and I attended Belle and Joes on bank holiday Monday where it was super busy. However the staff were incredibly polite and apologetic for the wait, the food was brilliant and we left feeling happy as we always have. All the staff especially the manager Kirsty are always so welcoming and smiling whenever we have visit and so we always come back. Nothing is ever too much and they are approachable and polite and make us feel so welcome. One of our favourite places to visit, we just love it there. Got to say other grumpy public visitors did put a dampener on it as they weren’t giving the staff or the place credit for how well they did given the volume of visitors. Loads of folk moaning but I’m not sure what about to be honest as everything was brilliant as always. Thank you for a wonderful time.

We visited on the bank holiday Monday and what a busy day it was.

Fantastic service and the food is top quality. It’s by far the best in the area and the staff are all lovely. Great variety of food on the menu to suit all.

Normally this is an excellent cafeteria / restaurant for a garden centre. However on this occasion we were badly let down.

I have visited Belle and Joes twice recently and on both occasions have been incredibly disappointed with the service. Today my family and I visited for lunch and waited 15 minutes for cold drinks and much longer for food. When my Sunday lunch arrived it was cold. The waitress took my plate away and re-heated it in the microwave but made no apology or bothered to check back if it was ok once returned to me.

We have never given a negative review before, but we were so disappointed with the quality of our breakfast could not let it pass without comment. I ordered poached eggs on toast, asked for runny eggs and my husband asked for a full English. We waited ages for the food and two lots of people who came in long after us were served first. When the food finally arrived I got 2 doorsteps of bread with hard eggs and had to ask for butter, but even with butter it was very poor, dry and unappetising. My husband’s breakfast was oily and the egg solid on the top as if it had sat under the hot lamps too long. We thought about complaining as other customers were doing at the time, but had already spent too long there to wait whist it was sorted. Not a place we will visit again for breakfast.

Cafés and Restaurants within Garden Centres are very popular. This one deserves a good review. It’s popularity is not surprising. The menu is quite wide and the eatery is licenced if you want an alcoholic drink. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly and efficient.

Service at the table, about time a place like this saw the benefit in this rather than queuing up with a tray then walking around with hot food looking for a table, most of which are occupied by a single person waiting for their other half to return with the food but behind you in the queue grrrrrr!
