Cafe Marina in Wyre

After browsing menu , opted for fish and chips and a quiche with jacket potato Well the menu made it sound quality but the reality was really basic . Standard size fish was very small , chips hard , had to pa y extra for sauce ! Quiche was home made but not very appealing , came with a med sized jacket spud and a single portion of butter . It was a warmed up version and tasted like it hadn’t been freshly cooked . No frills no salad , no mayo , no mushy peas with fish . Hubby had to remind staff about his coffee as it did not arrive . Over all we felt a bit ripped off . Lots of eating places to choose from in Clevelys Lancashire , on this occasion we opted for the wrong one .

Been going for many years to all his establishments and have had mixed standards of meals! So we've just stuck to a brew and cake for the last couple of years, however looking at the recent offering in , decided to chance it. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! Swilling in oil, about 15 chips on the plate, coleslaw was rancid. Very disappointed, will never go back, sad to say that visitors will always go here but regulars should be treated with more respect and we should all get a freshly cooked meal that is edible, all the the time, not just once in a blue moon.

I was so disappointed with our visit for breakfast today. I’ve always rated the food here when I’ve visited with friends but there has definitely been a change in the standard of the food. We waited about 20 mins for the food and I was telling my husband how it will be freshly cooked and delicious. I never mind waiting for fresh food. However I was very disappointed to see what arrived. The sausages looked like were actually raw and the bacon looked like it had been oven cooked for hours… I asked for the sausages to be cooked more but they returned in the same unappealing white colour. I was starving and it had cost £20 so we did eat most of it apart from sausages but I am afraid we won’t be coming back. Very disappointed as this was such a lovely cafe. I have never left a negative review before but this was not worth even half of the money we paid. On a positive note, the staff were all absolutely lovely so thank you for that ladies.

Awful rude staff - two older women serving on the till...there was no need whatsoever for their nasty giggling and pointing at me! It ruined our afternoon and when we spoke about our experience to other people in the various other pubs in the area they agreed with us. Such a shame as the food itself was nice. We definitely won't be wasting our time on this Cafe again. What a 'bitchy' disappointment.

Excellent meal, had the fish and chip meal. Lovely fresh fish, a great all round meal and excellent value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.

Breakfast was mediocre. Bacon had been cooked for hours. No noticeable meat in the very budget sausages. Toast was burnt on the lower side. 20p for a sachet of HP sauce annoyed

Staff were friendly and the restaurant appeared clean. These were the only redeeming features. The good was awful. We ordered Sunday roasts. The beef was not from a freshly cooked joint, but tasted like the sliced sandwich beef from a supermarket, the roast potatoes were not fresh and looked like they were microwaved from yesterday's leftovers, the Yorkshire pudding - Aunt Bessie does a better job. There was no horse radish and it was only after we had been served our food we discovered we had to pay 20p each for a sashay of mustard, which we then had to requeue to pay for so our food got cold. Wouldn't return - not worth £8. Substandard food, unacceptable. How this cafe scored an excellence award I don't know. The chef is a joke and need replacing with immediate effect. Don't waste your time eating here - there are better takeaways in the area.

Had sausage chips and peas with can of Fanta, cheap sausages used and not many chips, I was still hungry afterwards £10.15.

Our first time at Cafe Marina as we have visited, Cleveleys many times over the years. But today is a first but certainly won't be our last. The portion size was adequate, the quality very good and the service old fashioned not in your face, there's nothing not to like here, both plates went back empty this l think this will be the first of many return occasions. One slight down side, the toilet /washrooms despite having level access are clean but on the small side.

The worst sausage butties I’ve ever been served, cheapest greasy wrinkled up tasteless sausages, a hard fried egg and cheap bread. Even charged 20p extra for a small blob of sauce?! Disgraceful, ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Ate as a 3 generational family. Menu had a wide range of stereotypical British cuisine. Most of us had pies, which were pleasant, if unspectacular. There's really nothing to complain about here, the food was perfectly fine. Just fine.

Lovely pudding and chips but at the price I cannot believe they charge 20p for a sachet of ketchup. I know its only 20p but it's bad customer service and left a sadness about how bad the economy is that quite an upmarket cafe will charge for ketchup when we paid £22 for 2 pudding qnd chips. Left a bad taste in my mouth. That's despite the ketchup 🤣🤣🤣

I've eaten lunch at this place three times and have been impressed with its excellent price/value. Food consistently up to the mark. Staff efficient and personable. A favourite with ultra-picky lady pensioners who know a thing or two about good food, acoustics (for the hard of hearing) and clean loos.

I am glad I visited the Cafe Marina before I read the more recent reviews or I may not have tried it. However I am glad I did. It was quite busy when we arrived but we found a table (for 2) with no problem, the staff taking the orders were run off their feet but were lovely, it seems to be a place which attracts regular visitors so they must be doing something right. The food was good I had fish and chips and my son the roast chicken which we enjoyed. The cakes in the fridge looked amazing but we were both to full to try them. Would be interesting to see more reviews!!

Went in for breakfast yesterday, what a mistake. Ordered 2 breakfasts and coffees. Got coffees straight away then the wait started. After 30 minutes asked the waitress to chase up our food. A few minutes later they arrived, no apology or offer of another coffee. The bacon, beans and tomato were good but the egg was hard and the sausages looked undercooked and pale so I didn't eat them. The cafe was not busy so there was no excuse for the long wait. Certainly will not go again.

What can I say about this place. The food was awful and cheap. No quality what so ever. The food order came out wrong and the chef was screaming from the kitchen saying it was our fault the order was wrong. Really? Upon looking at our order saw that it was his mistake. Oh the silence, golden! On the plus side the waiter was amazing and so polite for such a young man. I think the chef needs to respect his staff more. Would I go back? My family and I visited Cafe Marina today. We were welcomed by a lovely, friendly lady on the door who showed us where to sign in and advised us on how things worked now (changes were in place due to Covid 19 guidelines) The cafe itself was extremely clean and well laid out. The staff were constantly cleaning and making sure customers followed guidelines. There was sanitiser around the cafe and posters encouraging customers to use it and to wash their hands more than usual. We all had fish and chips and the food was delicious. It was served to us quickly and the table was cleared straight away as we finished. The staff worked hard to make sure we enjoyed our visit and it was so nice to experience a bit of normality whilst still feeling safe too. Well done everyone! We’ll definitely be back again.

We used this cafe several times a long time ago as it was 1st class food and decided to try it again whilst visiting Cleveleys. However we were not impressed at all. Firstly my husband had scampi and chips. Chips OK, Scampi very poor quality. I decided to try their Roast Beef Dinner, presentation was awful, all piled in a heap, not enough room on the small plate, veg was half cooked. Broccoli was raw and carrots overcooked. It was a mess. We didnt complain, just left most of the food and will certainly not be returning.

Great selection of food,well cooked and presented. Staff well mannered and great value. If you like steak pudding try the 12oz home cooked had it now on 3 different occasions always good and with home cut chips.

I visit Cleveleys nearly every weekend with my wife and mum and have been in most of the Cafes. This is the best one and we all like it. The place is really clean and tidy, well decorated and the staff are all lovely lovely people, well presented and very efficient with the service. The cafe also has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and nice background music. The food is excellent. I especially love the Chicken curry. Very highly recommended

Called in today for lunch...Warm welcome from a staff member with red hair. Had home made Steak pudding chips and peas and my friend had fish and chips...Both meals cooked to perfection and at a reasonable price. Wide range and choice of cakes and puddings. Great speedy service and overall a very pleasant experiance. Will return.

Went today for dinner with my partner. Looked like it would be nice from the outside so we choose to eat there. Decor and furniture was good. Ordered milkshake, pot of tea, lamb dinner and chicken curry. The milkshake was awful, clearly FAR to much powder had been used, I took a couple of sips , tried to drink it, gave it a stir but it was still awful so I took it back to the counter and spoke to a slim lady with reddish long hair behind the counter and said "Im really sorry but it tastes horrible, think they've used too much powder", she snatched the glass from the counter, threw it in the sink and snapped at me "we'll I better do another then" and started banging things. I stood in shock for a few seconds and said "I'll tell you what, don't bother" and started to walk back to my seat, she shouted after me "do you want it or not" and I replied "No thanks" and sat down. I was shocked at her rudeness. We were then further disappointed when the food came. My curry was flavoursome but was very hot in some parts and cold in others. My partners lamb dinner was even worse. His meat was clearly ready cooked thin slices, his broccoli and carrots were nuclear hot and his roasts were rubbery. It was clear the only home made part was the gravy (appeared mostly to all be microwaved). We will definitely not be returning or recommending

Never returned back as I had staff who was rude. It was so shocking and the one young person who served me wasn’t really helpful when I asked for specific food and asked how much to takeaway but I ordered a takeout and it wasn’t like amazing.

Every time we have been it’s always clean and friendly. Great food which come it’s really quickly. Cakes are amazing and you can take them home too :)

Good value food , nice staff. There are a lot of places to eat and drink in the town but this place excels at a good tea / coffee snack place to visit. Inside is well laid out with comfortable chairs . The toasted tea cake and pot of tea snack is brilliant.

After our walk along the lovely sea front we were ready for something to eat. After a quick look in the window and the menu it wasn't long before we were in at our table.

We called in for a tea and a coffee.Ordered and served at the counter by a pleasant waitress. The tea was in a teapot with also a separate pot of water and a jug of milk.The coffee was also in a pot and a jug of milk.All placed on a tray along with two cups and saucers.I write this in detail because I was surprised that the total cost was £3.20.which is excellent value considering that the place was so clean and smart in appearance.We were sadly only visiting Cleveleys for the day but next time we will be heading to this venue for meals and drinks..

Have visited Cafe Marina several times and found the food and friendly service extremely good . The fish and chips are one of the best we have ever had . I organised a visit for a Group of 18 ladies to Café Marina for a Friday lunch and the whole visit was excellent from start to finish.

Called in on Saturday lunchtime we had the small fish and chips which came with bread and butter and cost £3.50 beautiful white fish crispy batter and perfect chips and certainly a big enough portion for me. A pot of very good tea cost just £1.80 An excellent lunch at an unbelievable price.

Popped in for lunch on a Saturday. We have eaten here before. There is a very good selection of food ranging from snacks/light bites to full dinners. Prices are reasonable and in keeping with the area. The cafe is bright and spacious and (including the toilets) was reasonably clean and tidy although some of the decor is a bit tired.

I found this cafe expensive £4.95 for a glorified ham salad barm.My biggest complaint is having no means of payment except cash and if you are foolish enough not to have change you are made to feel extremely uncomfortable . As this restaurant is also owned by the cleveleys kitchen, bake house,and cafe renoir your apparent choice is completely destroyed.

What a find! Such a lovely clean, spacious welcoming venue. A most agreeable menu showcasing a range of traditional fare to suit most tastes. Pleasant decor and tasteful art work celebrating the new, and very picturesque sea defences. Friendly, efficient staff, but wait until you try the food! Don't be fooled by the beach resort cafe pay-up-front format, what comes out of that kitchen is restaurant quality and no mistake. I had the 12 oz steak pudding which the proprietor told me was baked in their own family bakery just down the road. It did not disappoint! Slow cooked, traditionally seasoned shredded beef in a sublime suet crust with mountains of hand prepared chips, beautiful! I didn't ask but l could tell that the mushy peas were not tinned, but soaked, bicarbed and simmered.... to perfection. My meal was so impressive and appetizing when it came that my old friend and long term dining companion complained of suffering from "food envy", even though her chicken curry was actually just as good. She asked for a jacket potato rather than the chips or rice offered on the menu . No problem at all, and when it came it was a most regal spud: massive and oven baked to perfection. The curry was freshly made and delicious. All around an excellent lunch in a cracking venue, with cheerful service at a reasonable cost. What is not to like?? And it's even licensed if you want a glass of wine with your meal. All in all a hidden gem, trust me on this. I am a connoisseur of Lancashire steak puddings and theirs is the best l have ever tasted. Every meal which appeared while we were there looked mouthwatering and the fresh cream cakes in the chiller by the till were stunning to behold, no doubt they are from the family bakery! I will be back and intend to munch ecstatically through their menu over a period of time

Called in at the weekend as working full time now found a table quite quickly which was lucky as always busy,nice and warm and clean had the steak pie and chips plenty gravy and was not disappointing, my husband had the steak pudding lovely plenty meat, you can tell its real home made food and not expensive,thanks again for a great lunch i will be calling in again soon .

We have been going to the Cafe Marina for the past ten years and and have always given good reviews about the way the friendly staff treated us and on the excellent menu. We are very sad to say that we will never go again. The last few times we have been the food has not been to its usual high standard. We had a few chips on a plate and a battered fish with no fish inside. The portion sizes and quality of food has been of a very poor quality for some time. The man who took our order was very rude and who quite frankly should not be doing this job, He rolled his eyes up to the ceiling because I could not find what I was asking for quick enough on the menu and infact he was horrible and nasty. We just felt like walking out. Has Cafe Marina changed hands as we could not believe how unfriendly the staff were. This has not been the first time this has happened but for us it will be the last. So sorry Cafe Marina.

Visited here today and food was good but I feel some members of staff need training in customer service two failings I saw today one male member of staff were very unprofessional arguing with a female waitress in front of a que of customers over how much milk to use for the milky coffees he was very snappy when she spoke to him in a nice manner

Nice clean cafe, nice staff who don't,t mither you asking every five minutes how your meal is. I had a small fish and chips, was pleased to see they catered for smaller appetites. My husband had 12oz steak pudding and chips. We had tea for two they gave us fresh milk in jug and extra water. The plates teapots etc all very clean no chips on plates. They are disabled friendly and Loo's are very clean. Will be visiting again

Went in Sunday for lunch my mum had steak pie mash and veg the mash was cold the took it back then carrots were hard. We go intwice a week .yesterday there was a lot of oil on plate from fish and chips.i told Jackie on Tuesday about my lunch on Sunday was interested strange atmosphere in there on Tuesday staff emptying tables quick just after empty my cups and roots from tray staff to eager to clear .put me of eating there agai if go in just be for drink

The gentleman serving was extremely rude and unwelcoming. He was obviously having issues with the customer in front of us who had simply asked to have some fruit pureed for her disabled friend. When he came to serve us he was clearly agitated and snapped at us for our order. Having been a regular customer at cafe Marina this visit will be my last.

A little disappointed. Ordered the full English and cheese barmcake. Hubby enjoyed his full English my cheese barmcake was big very filling but very dry. Also u can't pay by card it's cash only which in this day and age isn't good as alot of people don't carry money with them luckily we just had enough money on us.

Can't understand any negative reviews when comparing quality to price. Have visited for years and am always satisfied with the quality. From my experience if anyone has a problem the staff would deal with it on the spot. Don't go away and then complain, that's just not fair.

We regularly use this establishment simply because it is the best atmosphere in cleveleys. You always get great food and a warm welcome. All the staff are very good but Jacqui in particular has always got a lovely smile on her face and is very warm and welcoming. Look forward to seeing you next time we are in.

Very disappointed as there was no fruit, to speak of, in my tea cake today. I counted 3 currants in all and it was more like a toasted breadcake. However, for £1.70 I shouldn't complain but I did give feedback to the staff behind the counter when I left, not that she seemed interested. I also heard other customers complaining about their food too whilst I was there.

This is part of a chain of eateries owned by the same group at the upper end of Victoria Rd. Been in previously and it was Ok, but of late its going downhill. This was confirmed on our last visit, so we will not be returning.

A spotlessly clean and bright and spacious café. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. We opted for tuna and mayonnaise barm with salad on the side. This arrived very quickly and was very fullfilling. Coffee and tea was hot and refreshing.

There are plenty of cafes in Cleveleys, but we chose this one as it looked well laid out & clean. It also advertised that the sandwiches were made with fresh baked bread. The sandwiches were well filled & came with a fresh salad & a few crisps. Plenty for lunch time. Some of the other customers were having hot meals & appeared to be enjoying them. You have to go up to the counter & order your food, which I don't mind, but a friendlier welcome would have been appreciated. I know the staff are busy & a minority of people can be challenging, but a smile, please. If you have mobility problems I did notice that a member of staff will take your order. I would call here again when in the area.

Went in with my grandson for lunch quite busy but plenty clean tables, we both had toasted tea cakes which are home made and great size and they use real butter not marg, filled us both up as so big well worth the money lovely and worm cafe will be back.

One of the more traditional cafes that give you a proper hot pot of tea with hot water . We had the coffee late as well as that was very good. A lot of choice of cakes and the toasted tea cakes are huge . There were limited staff working mid week but they worked hard and gave us a box for out custard we could not eat.

On the way back from Fleetwood market decided to get of the tram at Cleveleys, lovely town with lots of thriving shops. Headed up the high street looking for a decent cafe, or so we thought. How little did we know. Under staffed, dirty tables it took us several minutes to find a table without dirty plates and dishes, may seem good as they are busy but employ some more staff to clear the tables for new guests. Ordered roast dinner, mine was ok the wife said the mash tasted like smash there was hardly any meat and vegetables were tasteless. Kids food just ok. Unbelievably we were charged for hot water to top up our tea. What we saw next was a member of staff go out of the cafe and go into one across the road and carry food over uncovered really glad we were not being served any of that, covered in car fumes. Sorry will not be back ever :( May be tell your staff to smile more. Again no credit card facilities. Decor dated but the place was warm on a cold day, only plus really.

Had the Marina grill which is basically the breakfast but with chips rather than toast. Was OK except for the sausages which tasted like cat meat. I don't know what cat meat tastes like but I'd imagine it's the same as those sausages. Other than that it's a nice place. Good service, too.

It is a while since we visited this cafe even though we visit the town on a regular basis but do like to try different places to eat. This visit found the place just the same plenty of choice on the menu at reasonable prices and nice clean and warm on a chilly January day. Staff pleasant and helpful and service good did not have to wait long for our food of fish, chips and mushy peas and slice of bread and butter for my husband and a hot beef barm cake for me the only disappointment was it was supposed to have fried onions on but the onions were boiled not fried! Overall another pleasing meal in this cafe.

Visited this cafe a few times and on every occasion found it to be clean, helpful staff and most importantly lovely food with plentiful portions.

The decor and furnishings in this cafe are modern, light and airy and give a very welcoming appearance. Staff are friendly and helpful.

We had a really nice lunch here. We ordered at the till and were given our tea immediately. Food came up quickly. It was very tasty, and well presented. Also, a very good price. We were not rushed, but had to walk out quickly, before we were tempted by the beautiful cakes, on display!
