WHITE BULL HOTEL in Wyre

Just visited this lovely looking pub for a bite to eat on our way through travelling home. We were greeted by the bar staff & ordered drinks. We took a seat & viewed the food menu. We both decided on the healthy option noodles with chicken which showed 600 calorie meal. We also ordered garlic ciabatta. The food arrived & very disappointed with what we saw. 2 bowls of greasy noodles sitting in an oily liquid! The ciabatta was cold & soggy. Such a shame as expected a great pub meal Needless to say we both left most of meal & left still hungry What a waste of money. We were asked if meal was okay to which we politely informed the waitress that it wasn’t great. Think the kitchen needs to up its game on food preparation.

Called on Sunday, the bar person rang last orders at 2045. Hardly worth going. The draught beer had an overlarge head on it as well. Will not be going back. ************************** Thank you for your reply however no mention was made of "cleaners" arriving when the last orders bell was rung and during the subsequent discussion with you server which followed. The head on cask ales is a contentious point. Excessive froth on the top of a "pint" when left to settle can result in a considerable short measure. Besides it can create awkward moments when you have to ask for what should be provided anyway. I stand by my previous comments we will not be returning.

Beautiful village pub with lovely staff. Fantastic atmosphere and the food we chose this evening was excellent. Highly recommended to our friends and family to visit.

Very nice real ales. Lovely interior decoration. Lively atmosphere. We didn’t dine but from what we saw the portions looked generous. We will back soon for dinner.

We came across this little hidden gem by accident, trying to find somewhere new for lunch, the food, the staff and the atmosphere was spot on, we where made to feel welcome has soon as we entered the pub, nothing was to much for the staff, they made us feel so welcome, we would definitely recommend the white bull to everyone and anyone, and plan for a revist has soon as we can get back into the area, please keep up the good work and if your in the area , please visit it, you won't be disappointed, thank you again

Just had a very disappointing meal. The pub wasn't overly busy but we still had to wait 45 mins for 3 meals. One choice was fish and chips for my 99 year old mother. It came with fries and not chips, as advertised in the menu. My mother has tasted many fish & chips in her lifetime and she said it was the worst she'd ever tasted, her words absolutely tasteless. My meal came with a globby jug of gravy which had obviously been sat for some time. My pie was advertised as short crust pastry but it was puff pastry. When the plates were cleared we did mention my mother's fries and gravy. The girl said no food delivery had been received so they were short of food. If this was the case we should have been made aware upon placing our order and an alternative choice could have been decided and we wouldn't have left feeling we'd paid for disappointing food.

We’ve been to the White Bull a few times. It is always busy with a great atmosphere, very friendly, spotlessly clean and the food is lovely. We have always received a warm welcome. It is a fabulous village pub, can’t recommend it highly enough.

I love to visit this pub. It has a safe and friendly atmosphere. Everywhere is so clean and the toilets are immaculate. The beer garden is a relaxing place to enjoy a pint and is dog friendly! The staff are always friendly and everyone is made to feel welcome 🤗

Nice pint of cask ale. Sat outside in the sunshine, lovely. Order was taken for 2x fish and chips, but within five minutes we were told there was an audit so the kitchen was closed. It seemed to us that it was a quiet Monday afternoon and they couldn't be bothered to serve us. Very disappointing. Shame because it seemed like a nice locals pub. Probably should have gone over the road, but the coin toss went in favour of the White Bull. Ah well.

Great place to stop for an hour or so . Small old fashiond Lancashire village,high Street, locals very friendly and welcoming. Food shops and take away all in 100 yards.

Warm friendly pub. Great pub quizz on a Thursday. Brilliant live acts, The bar staff are lovely & friendly & helpful, The landlords are great, always welcoming & friendly & such lovely guys. & its doggie friendly which our two labs enjoy as much as we do. Real fires which is so cosy in winter. Would highly recommend.

Everything from the service to the food and drinks where all amazing, I could not recommend it enough. The staff where all very helpful and friendly, the food was some of the best pub food I've ever had and the variety of drinks was amazing. Like I said before I could not recommend the white bull enough.

While being lucky enough to live in Great Eccleston, having a fantastic local pub like the White Bull is a real bonus. The building has the wonderful ambience of a country village pub. The staff are friendly, attentive & often busy, which is a credit to how well the pub is run. Moreover the fare competitively priced for beer & food which is welcome in the times we live. Entertainment is thoughtfully sourced, with a very popular quiz night & cracking performers on many weekends. All in all a lovely warm friendly pub, in a warm friendly village.

This is my first review, but it was so well-deserved that I had to leave it. I have known this pub for many years prior and have seen landlords come and go very quickly again. Over the past five years, I have seen this pub return to life and become such an integral part of its community. Each Easter that I've returned over recent years has been better than the previous. The couple who now run the pub continue to do a fantastic job—great food, drink, and atmosphere. This authentic countryside pub has it all, and it's all thanks to the gents who have transformed it from a dreary daytime drinkers' pub into a warm and welcoming place full of charm, laughter, and enjoyment. We will be back in a few weeks with some friends and can't wait for a Saturday night out.

Stopped here with the wife, to have lunch and a drink, after looking at the menu, we both decided to have the award winning steak and ale pie, asked if we could have both with chips instead of mash, as preferred preference, but this was declined, (never ever had a situation were this chosen option was refused at any other establishment) "always the first time", l was told that l could order a portions of chips as extras, which amused me, as why pay & order chips to leave the mash that you have also paid for. we therefore decided on one having Sunday lunch & one having the award steak & ale pie, which on arrival and first sight, with amusement from the other half, as the dish looked like a small kiddys portion containing a pie with a small spoon of mash & a few greens, leaving a dish looking very sparse, the pie top was burnt & rock hard, on the inside and therefore could not eat, my mash and veg had gone before the other half had even chomped halfway through eating her Yorkshire pudding, the plus side was the Mr's had a good laugh at my expense, as her Sunday lunch was very good and plenty full, downside was l had to wait a long time for her to finish her nice meal. Wish l had ordered the extra chips. 😂

We called in here today with our 2 dogs all the staff were very accommodating and friendly, they also brought us a dog water bowl over without us asking. We had a double burger & chips each and it was the best burger we’ve had in ages and also very reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

Superb just about sums up this place, so far I cannot fault it. Excellent roadside appeal, great wines and great beer so we were both happy, staff very friendly and welcoming. The Spicy Crab Cakes were absolutely delicious and next time we will order more. Maybe I will try the Singapore Noodles. The whole pub/restaurant is very clean and tidy. A lovely beer garden and it’s dog friendly too. I seldom give a 10/10 score but The White Bull deserves it.

I have visited this venue twice now and, on both occasions, have thoroughly enjoyed the food and drink. A lovely, genuinely friendly atmosphere. I only wish that it was my local!

This would have been 5* but for the angry barman. We'd rung ahead to make sure food was still being served, sat down, chose our meals only to be the kitchen was shut. He just said, it's shut. When I mentioned we'd made sure before coming he reiterated rather nastily, IT'S SHUT. As we left we met the owner who said they were still serving. After going back in, the barman wouldn't serve us and was telling the another member of staff the kitchen was Shut. Fortunately she checked and all was eventually well. We had a lovely lunch and as locals we will be back.

Good menu Good price Good offers on food and drink buy 1 get another half price on Mondays, Friendly folk, it's a must to go.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch. Great Sat in the sunshine! 2 main meals for £14 brilliant got the lasagna and a cheese burger! Delicious would definitely go again if in the area! 👍

We came to The White Bull yesterday for a Sunday lunch with our family from Canada, it was our first time eating out with our son who has anaphylaxis to Eggs, Wheat and Milk, so naturally I was very cautious and nervous about the experience. We could not have been catered to better. The barman informed me they have an allergen booklet behind the bar for all of the ingredients they use, then went to ask the chef to come and talk to me. The chef went above and beyond to ensure that my little guys meal was completely allergen free and safe for him. He checked every ingredient, and double checked with us what food items we would want to be served to him. We are so grateful for this service and really wish more places would be this accessible for food allergy sufferers. Thank you all so much for putting our minds at ease, and making our experience so enjoyable. And the icing on the cake? My 1 year old polished off his first roast chicken Sunday lunch!

Best Pub in Great Eccleston. Amazing staff & locals who are both friendly and welcoming. Great drink specials everyday and delicious food. Must go if your in the area of Blackpool or Lytham or any neighbouring counties and looking for that welcoming country at home feeling.

Been here a few times for food and a drink. Such a nice, pleasant, local atmosphere, all staff and the chef are great, so welcoming, friendly, chatty and caring. Chef goes out of his way, where possible, to check on tables etc, showing care and pride in his work. Lovely. Thank you.

As group of seven we arrived shortly before service ends food order accepted, food delivered quickly all seven meals were perfect, service was faultless chef even came to the table to check on satisfaction, thank you to all the staff for an enjoyable experience, will definitely be back.

Great pub in the beautiful village of Great Eccleston, fantastic setv8ce, beers is cheap and good! They show all of the premiership games, plus big rugby games too. Food I haven't tried as my in-laws only live 2 mins away. Highly recommended.

Just got back from having our Sunday roast we were lucky we went in at 16.30 and they only had two beef left with only chicken still on the menu’s. The service was quick and the chef was attentive towards us. The meal was average plenty of lean meat the carrots were a bit hard. After the meal we asked to see the sweet menu but they had none in which was disappointing as I always like a sweet after my meal. The pub allows dogs which I’m tolerant with but not a fan. Will we go again probably not it’s a bit tired the decor and could do with a refurb although some will like the oldie worldie look. Plenty of locals in making plenty of noise it’s not for me but worth a visit if your passing

Lovely atmosphere, clean, friendly staff excellent choice of draft beer/lager and very well kept. Food lovely too especially the veg red Thai curry, 2 4 1 burgers on a Wednesday amazing value and taste ( but have to be quick as they do run out as I discovered this week :( ) Great village pub landlords have done it and the village proud (since taking over pre covid) they have brought new and positive experiences to the village with the entertainment so hats off to you. Def worth a visit if somehow you haven’t been

Brilliant meal, had ribbs and stake, it was superb. I didn't get a stake knife but stake was so tender that table knife cut it perfectly, nice chips with it and ribbs were lovely too but stake was so much better than expected. Now waiting for my apple crumble 😊 PS apple crumble is the best!!!

We came for lunch after seeing a lovely menu online. After sitting down and looking at the menu it was a very poor fraction of what was online and also no festive menu.... Probably return and try again if the menu returns to normal....

Always thought this was a drinkers bar, How wrong. New managers with an emphasis on food and welcome.Strong on social distancing for anyone worried about it. Not just playing lip service to it for the sake of the big buck. Two stunning Sunday lunches and a couple of drinks for £30.00. Couldn't fault it. Beef, 4 veg 2 potatoes dishes and lashings of roast meat gravy. Sorry ate so quick forgot to take any picture. Would highly recommend sepecially for the price.

Excellent value for money for main course and good, value beer. Fish and chips perfectly nice and good system for social distancing compared to fish shop opposite! Eat out to help out scheme made mid week value for money excellent. Good position, especially on our seats overlooking Great Eccleston Centre. No frills but does in my opinion what it does very well.

Just left the having left 3 very disappointing Sunday lunches . Having ordered 3 Sunday dinners and drinks we decided to supersize to include all the meats . We waited quite a long time and didn’t mind because fresh cooked food takes a while .. doentbit ???? Well so apparently does poor quality frozen food what a disappointment . ... Described on the menu as coming with fresh veg , creamy mash potatoes and roast potatoes Ok , the potatoes were like bullets , deep fried NOT ROASTED. , there were no mash potatoes , I was told we were given extra “ roasts “ to compensate but that was just extra bullets The plate was huge and taken up in the main by 2 very large very overdone hard , what I assume were meant to be Yorkshire puddings but they were more like dry biscuits and not like any Yorkshire pie I have seen before, their main purpose was to fill the plate to justify the “supersize” description. The veg consisted of tiny frozen carrots , horrible and hard, a floret each of broccoli and cauliflower both frozen and watery , some cabbage leaves of an indeterminate type .The meats were slivers of stringy fatty meat with no proper slice of any meat . If this was the best they could do I would dread o see the normal Ok so on bringing this to the attention of the surly waitress , she slammed some money on the table and said chef said refund the meal . We left ..... the food and the pub ... It wasn’t expensive at around £10 each but not cheap either River Wyre are far superior and similar price
