Food was great, both evening meal and breakfast. Always enjoy our stay here

Ordered the soup, which was not good,soup all down the side of the bowl dried on, vegetable in the soup hard, and the butter in the pack had completely melted to liquid, the drink we had a cola tasted watered down and a bit flat

Food was great and a beautiful location

A good place to visit. The Italian restaurant on the site has always been excellent and has some nicely priced lunchtime deals. The pub, Owd Nells, is traditional pub fayre and has been decent on the times we've tried it. There's an ice cream parlour, outdoor seating next to a canal and it's all very picturesque with faux cobbled streets around. I haven't tried the lodgings but know people who have and the general vibe is that they were quite decadent in the early nineties with hot tubs in the rooms, but they haven't changed much and are now a bit dated. There are often special events here such as an ice rink in winter and a kids fairground in summer and we've had great fun at these. But be prepared for it to be crazy busy most of the time, especially on bank holidays and if there is an event on. Booking a table is advised if you want to eat, even in the pub.

Stayed here a good few times now and love it the rooms are lovely and clean, powerful shower, comfy big beds and love the look of the olde worlde style of the place, the whole feel of it is very chalet/holiday camp but nicer. We've had food in the pub and the restaurant (the latter is much nicer obviously) breakfast has always been hot and tasty, and due to its lovely location (by the canal) and atmosphere I would definitely recommend this place 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👍🏻

Took the grandkids to the bubble and bounce it was amazing 👍👍😁😁it was onl£10 per child and that includes all the fairground rides took a picnic and bought coffees and drinks all in all a great afternoon 👍

We stopped the night we would go back very good service in Guys Italian restaurant. But in old Neals a pint of cider and a smile glass of wine £12 it was not a good price good job we had taken some alcohol to drink

Went to bubble and bounce with my grand children they loved it, very reasonably priced to get in, had drinks near canal great atmosphere, food looked good too.

Came to visit twice recently food exceptional and plenty of parking. Visited for the children's bounce fair, cheap deal with it being 10.00 per child for 1hr30 and can on everything as many times as they like. Recommend

Again was a lovely place beautiful scenery staff seemed to be a little useless and I think the food is over priced for what it is, my roast took 45 minutes and was cold when it came out

What a good place kids loved it

Went to the Italian festival they held, was expecting more stalls with the Italian theme but was surprised there was only a pop up bar. But I have to say it was a great day with a great Italian singer and guitarist, we ordered food and sat down to a great fresh meal at reasonable prices. Was staying over for the night in the onsite hotel rooms and have to say for the money they charged felt it was a little overpriced for the accommodation, room smelt musty, decor and carpet tatty, but after talking to the reception was given a newly decorated room. All in all a great weekend with great food and drink.

Very busy. Couldn’t get booking for restaurant but went to pub. Had 3 small plates and a cheesy garlic bread between 4. Good portions. Good quality. Staff working very hard to keep up.

My recent visit to Guy's Thatched Hamlet Tavern was disappointing, to say the least. We ordered a kids' mac and cheese, which looked like it came straight from a microwave packet—definitely not what you'd expect when dining out. To make matters worse, we were informed that garlic bread had been taken off the kids menu for the mac and cheese which was a letdown. For our main courses, we tried the Canalside Burger and cheesy chips. The burger was dry and chewy, far from enjoyable. Honestly, we would have been better off going to the Carboot burger van. As for the chips, they were very greasy and almost soggy, lacking the crispness you'd hope for in a side dish. The overall experience wasn't helped by the atmosphere. There was only one till for placing food orders, leading to a long queue and many items being unavailable. The tavern itself had a strong smell of stale beer, which was off-putting. Additionally, the interior was quite dark and dingy, making it an uncomfortable place to spend time. Overall, for pub grub, this was possibly one of the worst experiences we've had. We wouldn't recommend it and won't be coming back.

Lovely, unique place with free parking and plenty to see. Had a walk along the canal and a drink outside. Peaceful and interesting surroundings. Didn’t stay over so can’t comment on that. Only thing was…..smelled of drains really bad so had to knock a star off 😕

We called in for lunch in restaurant . My husband had lasagne, I had pizza reasonable price

Great little place. Feels good to be there, like you're in a little German resort lol. No park for kids, and we ate in the Italian. We all had pizza, it was OKAY, seriously okay my meat feast (pizza guy) was absolutely terrible, tasted awful. But the others pepperoni and margarita tasted better, I think it was the chicken might of been off. Can feel like an authentic Italian with one of the waitresses or head waitress. Italian doesn't speak English and jesus is she rude lol. We had a gluten free pizza ordered and when brought other it wasn't stated which one, we asked and she just said yes and point, wasn't convinced so asked another, and we was right. It hadn't been brought out yet. Garlic bread was good Id still go again and try the pasta and probably the pub restaurant

We booked the 'midweek fizz ' and had a fantastic time. We thought that the deal was great value with the bottle of prosecco and a very substantial vegan breakfast both days. The staff in the pub and restaurant were very friendly and efficient. We will definitely go back again

We stayed here for our anniversary on the 12th July. We paid an extra £19.50 for the Friday feeling offer and highly recommend! We ate in the restaurant which was lovely and got £15 voucher off our food. The jacuzzi bath was lovely and hot too! We had breakfast the next day which was a little hit and miss as the coffee was served to everyone cold, then our full English was just barely warm too. My only main issue was the bed... it was great being so big but the comfort was something to be desired! We both barely slept due tossing and turning all night. I have a chronic pain disorder which has flared up due to the solid bed and van barely move my back 😐 other that the bed it was a lovely stay!

Great place, welcoming and cosy. The food was delicious, the service was good ... it would be excellent if staff did a check back on their customers, making sure that everything is okay. It will give them an opportunity to upsell. Overall, it was a great experience. Will be back.

Very expensive. Two drinks cost £9.20. The missus had to pick me up off the floor. If you ain't got money to waste then don't go. Food was lovely though.

Twice been, a little (BIG) gem 💎 along the A6 between Garstang and Preston 'Bilsbarrow', just of main road along the canal bank situated. Quirky hamlet village pub. Prices can be OTT £11 for two pints thatchers cider in tap (give you an idea💡) food fantastic and friendly.

Had a lovely stay with my daughter and mum this weekend, great jacuzzi bath, spacious room. The food in the Italian was amazing friendly staff lovely. Would highly recommend. The flower bowl centre close by lots of entertainment. Thank you!

Quirky place, full of character. Large bar and restaurant with a good atmosphere and good food (big portions). We were lucky to sit outside by the canal and watch the barges pass by. The room was nice and clean with a large bathroom, corner spa bath and waterfall shower. My only criticisms would be the bed, the mattress was quite lumpy and had very flat pillows.

Was disappointed with the bar service . I queued at the bar . The girl serving was aware of me . When it came to my time to be served she went and made a cup of coffee .I thought she was serving some one but she didn't come back . I asked another member of staff who said she must have gone serving someone but she didn't come back . I asked this other member of staff again but she said she wasn't serving just clearing glasses . There were 3 of us waiting in this queue so why didn't the bar maid just tell us she was going on a break not just let us stand there waiting to be served . I walked away and would have just gone home but my husband went back and was served by the girl who was clearing glasses ! We did eat there and the food was nice . We had previous to this had to queue for about half an hour for an ice cream ! You have obviously not got enough staff . I don't like complaining as I have family in hospitality but you will lose custom. We have stayed a few times with you and it is one of our favourite places but you need more staff on and the place is looking a little shabby.Could do with some external decoration. On a plus the bubbles and bounce event was excellent value for money .

Okay good, okay atmosphere, probably better for families than couples

Place is good staff were nice, restaurant and bar were good but the room was tired walls had areas that had plaster repaired but not painted and the ceiling in the bathroom was peeling also alot of light switches didn't seem to do anything.

Went for the bubble and bounce which is pretty good value compared to other funfair attractions locally. Make sure you check session times. Apparently it's on every school holiday. As for Guy's itself, it's a lovely spot with some decent and popular looking sports facilities although it's a shame the pavillion bar wasn't staffed, potentially because the staff were out on the funfair. We had a walk round and looked at the boats on the canal and that and had a pint at owd Nell's tavern, which was well staffed and busy with customers . The ice cream kiosk was popular as well and they'd sold out of a few flavours which goes to show people will go and spend money. There were a couple of shops and plenty of motel-style accommodation, and it all seemed busy even though there doesn't seem to be what you call much of anything to draw folks in. You can imagine that it would make a fantastic 'living museum' there's definitely space for it and has that sort of vibe. It could all use a lick of paint and maybe an adventure playground for kiddies, but it wouldn't need to be anything epic. There were clearly loads of customers around on a sunny weekend at the tail end of may half term its just a bit strange because it's lovely, and it's popular but there doesn't seem to be much of a permanent attraction, and whilst it's not exactly been left to rot, it's a real shame there's not more there and it so tired looking.

Just the best place for food especially on a sunny day. Due to me having to diet I chose the Freshly Poached Salmon salad Freshly poached salmon served with a market fresh salad, coleslaw, topped with Marie Rose sauce. Served with granary bread. Should have asked for the sauce on the side but I skipped breakfast for this! It was absolutely delicious need to try other things on the menu in future. In the 30 odd years I have been coming here, I have always had either fish and chips or the legendary famous home-made steak & kidney pudding it's a must! Lovely staff great atmosphere right on the Lancaster canal. Perfect for a stroll after having a desert or ice cream from their kiosk. It's dog friendly as well inside and out.

We had our dogs with and at first wasn't sure if they could go in with us but a lovely lady showed us into a lounge full of comfy sofas and we settled down and had few drinks, great place 😀

Don’t normally post but feel the need. As locals we’ve been coming for years. Whilst it improved after the poor rating the last couple of visits have been a poor decision. Lasagna comprised of just cheese and pasta, then the 50-50 offer was not respected with blatant lies from head barman, so shall not be returning as there are much better places who show respect to their customers

Staff very friendly been here a few times for a meet up with some of my friends to have a little catch up..always stayed over beautiful rooms..breakfast in the morning was fab..99 50 for 2 people overnight stay in a fab room breakfast and a 15 pound voucher of ya meal..amazing value

Came to the teddy bears picnic today and was great for kids , rides and entertainment. £2 a ride each wasn’t bad . £20 gives the child pretty much a go on everything and got to meet characters

Meals are very good both during the day and especially at night time in the main restaraunt area. Cosy atmosphere, can sit outside by the canalside, been going for years.

Guys is my favourite place to go! Owd Nells Tavern is the perfect place to have a drink or two and Guys Eating Establishment is our go-to every week for a big old plate of pasta and some sides 😋

Not good this time . Water was Luke warm and when put taps on on room smelt of sewage

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Stayed at guys on Saturday for a golden wedding anniversary. The hotel room had no running water as the taps were broke and the tv had no signal. We booked the Italian restaurant for the evening as there was a party of 12. They brought out 2 raw meals that was sent back that wasnt replaced and also missed a main course order and was only offered after everyonelse had finished their meal. The following day my parents ate and drank at the pub part of the hotel, they tried over charging two elderly pensioners, 1 with dementia for extra drinks. They won't refund for the room. Totally disgusting service and we will not return. Thank you guys thatched hamlet for ruining the 50th wedding anniversary. James

Excellent food, great lively bar & good value rooms!

The rooms were very comfortable, the food is very good and reasonably priced: the pizza calabrese was the best pizza I have EVER eaten. Every morsel of it was packed with flavour. Staff are friendly and helpful, and though somewhat remote, was handy for car drivers, being on the main roads to all points.

We are at the Italian restaurant. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was really tasty, I had slow cooked beef, and it was well prepared, my only fault was that there was very little veg and potatoes with it. We are from the 2 courses for 17.95 menu which runs even at weekends and was actually pretty decent value and variety. We didn't have a great deal of time to explore but there seems to be a lot to do there. There was a small fair on and ice skating. We had a lovely time would definitely recommend for a large party 🎉

Security absolutely ruined our stay came banging on the door at 10 oclock saying our TV was to loads spoke to my partner in a horrible way making her feel very uncomfortable and upset then came back at 11 banged on the door and walked away not saying anything then came back at 12 as we was trying to sleep saying we was playing music and just having a smug attitude was like he was getting a kick from winding us up!what a absolute melt he is! By the looks of other reviews it's a regular thing.

Made a reservation and arrived on time. Kept waiting 50 minutes to be seated. Then waited 90 minutes for the food. Overall terrible service and mediocre food. Avoid.

Get rid of that third rate garlic bread and return to the best anywhere
