Guy's Thatched Hamlet in Wyre

We had a lovely meal last night in The Italian Restaurant. The service was great, staff were very attentive and friendly.

It was a really nice escape in the countryside. There's plenty to do locally and even in the hamlet. We stayed the night and ate in the onsite restaurant. The inn was great, and the staff on the reception were very pleasant. Checked us in and provided directions to the room. The room itself was a short walk away. We had booked the standard room and for the price it was a nice room with everything you'd expect. We were even graced with a canal view. The downsides to the room were that in places, it was slightly tired and worn. Some paint peeling and some stains to the carpets, but overall, these were not worth the complaint. The Guy's Restaurant was also very nice. Food quality was great and although we were warned about a new chef in the kitchen the food was great so no need to worry. The atmosphere was great and staff very friendly. Location is great and is not too far from Machester, or a day trip into the Lake District or Blackpool.

We went to the Italian here. Atmosphere was fab. Stunning place. Sat on the mezzanine looking over the restaurant in a booth. Food and service were really good.

This place has really let its self go but still charging a fortune

My god the food was awful, and when I went to pay and mentioned the table number I was abruptly told it wasn’t that number to which I replied it says that on the table the gentleman muttered something under his breath in Italian. I’d sooner eat my dogs left overs than go there again. AVOID

Great visit again on a lovely sunny day could not have been better. Enjoyed a lovely meal of gammon egg and chips, and my friend had fish and chips both freshly cooked and delicious. You won't be disappointed if you visit. 😊

Staff were friendly and helpful. Had a very nice main meal, great portions, but left before ordering desserts to get away from the banal, anti-Zelensky Trump propaganda being spouted by the resident bar monkeys.

This was our first visit to guys and will be our last. The service in the Italian restaurant was awful we didn't have one waiter but 4 different ones we waited such a long time for waiter to take our order other tables that arrived after us ere being served before us. The food arrived quickly but no one asked wether we were ok no one checked in on us offered us more drinks. I was asking the waiters for things and we felt like we were forgotten about. After the mains I asked if we could have dessert menu again a long wait to get this then a very long wait to take our order I had to call a waitress across ordered desserts half came half didn't one cappuccino arrived the other didn't then a waiter brought over the bill I said we've not finished yet still waiting for drinks and the rest of our desserts. When we finished I asked to pay the bill was told I had to get up and go over to the main desk to pay. When you've not long had chemotherapy and don't feel well the last thing you want to do is queue to pay not something you expect to do in a restaurant. Also there were extra cappuccinos added to my bill which then had to be removed. I won't be going back there again. No apologies no one cared the staff were rude more bothered about clearing other tables than paying attention to customers already dining in the establishment. Terrible service!!

Beautiful spot to go with family,friends or just a couple

Got the executive deluxe room the best room they offer for my partners birthday and was a compleat waste of money! The lady on arrival was nice but as soon as we walked in our room it smelled disgusting like damp wet dog the room was absolutely tiny with clearly worn decor, bed and carpets, there was lights that weren’t working, tiny tv wasn’t working. After coming back from a meal at the pub which was actually great food just terrible staff (one rude old lady behind the bar) we heard scurrying behind a vent in the ceiling! That was the last straw so we went to complain at the main desk but nobody was to be found so we put the key on the counter and left for home! If that was there best room I wouldn’t want to see the others.

The room is very clean and tidy the bathroom and shower was very clean. The food was lovely, the staff were brilliant.

Great place, fantastic food, lovely staff plus you can enjoy a picturesque stroll along the canal or sit outside in warmer months

The usual steak and kidney pudding treat,as good as ever,my fellow diners weren't so lucky when on Sunday at about 4.30 there wasn't any roast beef left, but had chicken and enjoyed it

Food poor the place was dirty and the staff unhelpful, this place is trading on it good reputation from many years ago, seriously avoid this place until they spend some money and put some effort back In :(

Chef was so polite and food was 10/10

We stopped by after someone recommended us to here a few years ago. We are so glad we did. From the atmosphere, to the staff to the fact they found us a table without a booking. The garlic bread was out of this world. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and we never felt forgotten about even enough every table was full. I had Cajun chicken for my main, I think they forgot the Cajun spices completely because I couldn't taste them. Even so, it was a nice meal.

Stayed over xmas period in a jacuzzi room which was great fun. Food was reasonably priced and wholesome in the pub. Great food service but bar staff seemed a bit overrun at times due being very busy. Will definitely be returning.

Another great stay at guys. As usual room lovely and clean, comfy bed. Can highly recommend the nibble trays at £16.95 it's a bargain and plenty for 2 people. Lovely breakfast this morning. Attentive staff.

Fantastic food and lovely setting

Great food in a lovely place witha brilliant team of people.

They have increased their prices by £5 per 2 courses for xmas, and think they are doing you a favour if you mix the menu. My chicken in cream sauce was the worst I have ever tried to eat. Dry tough chicken served in weak white sauce with a strange mix of overcooked sprouts atop a watery carrot mush and small roast potatoes. The starter, mussels in very thin cream sauce had raw garlic grated on it and some rock hard croutons. £22-50p for two courses a complete hard faced rip off. We have eaten here before but if they think they can con people this way it has had a negative effect on us. We won't be eating here again.

A friendly Italian restaurant. Food fabulous. Pretty setting next to the canal. The most amazing staff, especially our wine waiter (see photo) who made the experience. Can't praise it high enough

Visited guy's court for lunch and ordered a Gluten Free toasted sandwich later that evening I became very poorly and it became apparent that it wasn't gluten free, I had only eaten here that day and not eaten anything else apart from the toasted sandwich, I have contacted them to make them aware of the situation and all I got is that they have a designated area for gluten free prep, and it felt like I was being called a liar, they advised me they would do an investigation and let me know, I've never heard from them again and I've emailed a few times with no response. I've given them plenty of time for them to respond to me but due to the radio silence this is why I've left a review. If you have ceoliac disease please be very careful and triple check when your food comes that it's definitely gluten free. I use to be a regular here but unfortunately I won't be returning again I've lost trust and faith in the fact I can safely eat here and I feel they havnt taken my concerns seriously, I was quite lucky this time that I didnt end up hospitalised.

Had the first taster event here on 20th November..the five courses of game were all excellent using locally sourced game. The wine pairing was spot on and we hope to enjoy more of these events in Guys . Special thanks to Bradley who was attentive but gave us the time we wanted between courses and service with a smile was much appreciated. Well done to everyone who made this great night out for us ..thank you Jimmy & Dawn

We had a lovely bite to eat here on a drive out. I had chicken steak burger which was great, my partner had the piri piri wings which he said were good, there was too many for his ..it was aportion of 15 wings so we took them home .

Beatiful food, generous portions, and sensible prices with a warm, cosy atmosphere. Plenty of parking spaces. Great menu. Great service. Highly recommended.

Good meal at a reasonable price. The service was first class. But then it was not too busy so perhaps should be.

Cutest place ever! Only there for a few hours, but dying to go back and stay.

We were ignored at the bar for 5 mins whilst the server put glasses away and chatted to a local. Not even an acknowledged that we were there. The food tasted old as if cooked some time ago and re-warmed the chicken was so hard it was difficult to cut and chew and so dry it would put the Sahara to shame. Not what it used to be, what a shame.

We enjoy going on a Thursday night for the quiz.

Traditional pub food. Reasonable price. Tasty ( apart from the vegetables!) Good service

Great hotel, the only issue was a large amount of spiders in the room. I understand in summer with the windows open that a few will come in, but not a dozen! Crawling in bed etc. Could have used a bit more of a clean. Other than that, great place, would recommend.

We decided to stay over night at Guys thatched hamlet, we know of this lovely lil place due to both myself and my husband previously attending college down the road, its a nice quaint place, if your expecting new and modern then this isn't the place for you, The hamlet is an old building , lovely inside we had the double executive room which has a double spa bath with a TV, can't fault it, the building is alil dated but adds to the character, we decided to eat at Owd Nells next door to Guys a traditional pub with lots on the menu , food is plentiful and value for money, Breakfast again we had in Owd Nells there's more than enough food for the money overall I'd recommend a stay to anyone who likes and appreciates old buildings by the canal, staff also very helpful Will definitely stay again 😀

Great Halloween event! Loads for the kids to do, activities, rides and a reasonably priced Halloween party. Can’t wait to come back for the Christmas event and will book a table for food, really impressed!

Wow. What a joy to discover authentic Italian cuisine in a place like this. Don’t be put off by where it is, this is real Italian and sooo tasty.

Really great value for the Friday feeling special they do

This is a beautiful thatched roofed pub with accommodation. There is a canal at the side of the pub where you can sit and watch the ducks and boats chugging past. There are plenty of tables outside around the building. Some are undercover. I was a bit hesitant to try the food here after reading some comments. The food was excellent. I had the cheese and onion pie, chips, and vegetables. My friend had the steak pudding with chips, vegetables, and gravy. And a side order of fried mushrooms. There was loads of steak in the pudding. There is ample parking and is fairly flat for wheelchair users. There is a brilliant car boot in the summer about 5 minutes up the road. We will definitely be eating here again.

Really enjoyable food, good service

Outside spaces not good for those on crutches or walking sticks. Uneven ground and leaves not cleared but staff very friendly and helpful.

Sunday 6th October 24. Guy’s Thatched Hamlet is a canal-side hamlet of thatched roofed buildings, just off the A6 at Bilsborrow near the market town of Garstang. On site there is Guy’s Eating Establishment and pizzeria next to the atmospheric ‘Owd Nell’s Tavern, Guy’s Lodge and School House Square with its craft shop. Guy’s Canalside Lodge has 65 thatched en-suite bedrooms. I arrived on a Sunday morning around 10:00am in October and the weather wasn't that good, therefore as you will see from the photographs it wasn't very busy at all. However, it does get very busy in the summer and it would have got busier later that morning. well worth a visit.

No accommodation just had food and drink which was excellent

It's always outstanding, and one of our favourite places to eat.

Absolutely lovely food and setting - would have come back again and again - my husband had wanted to bring me here for 8 years. However, the service was without doubt the worst I have encountered in 45 years. 1 hour wait for a plate of olives starter. No check back on our meal and no staff around so we couldn’t report we hadn’t received our garlic bread and cheese. We had to order another round of drinks because of the olive disaster. Absolutely basic customer service and check backs missing. Manager was lovely and very professional and refunded the olives and garlic bread and cheese. Wouldn’t say anything bad other than the service. - lovely setting and food but please train your foh staff - they ruined our evening!!!

Nice Olde worlde style pub, dog friendly, plenty of outdoor seating. You can walk along the canal from there .some nice barges on the canal. There is accommodation there but I can not comment on what it is like as I have never stayed there. There is a good amount of parking.

Was let down by staying here this year especially after last time. Stayed last year and it was lovely, couldn't fault the place, but this year it was very different. I booked and executive room for my partners birthday and when we entered the room, it wasn't very executive at all! There was a smell that hit us as soon as we walked in, smelled like dog, so that put us off immediately, then we noticed paint missing off the wall next to the bed, a big patch too, and then found the head board to be broken too and it moved when you leaned on it, also there was scratches in the paint on the far wall where they'd hung a big sun style mirror, also there was bubbling on the ceiling where water had seeped through, and the bed base was painted yellow which I found extremely tacky! Wasn't happy at all and after complaining they moved us to another room which was better but wasn't a great start for us. I felt the staff at breakfast were nicer to other guests too, after hearing the waitress offering more drinks to one couple but not to us made me wonder why. I do feel the whole place is in need of a tidy up, it's been neglected overall, and from out recent experience we won't be staying again, it kinda ruined my girlfriends birthday. Next year we'll stay somewhere nicer I think

guys thatched hamlet was an experience i cannot explain with words. the staff were so lovely and friendly and the food delighted every night. room was lovely and clean! some personal highlights were the model train in the italian restaurant and owd nell as a concept. thank you so much guys for such a warm welcome! will definitely be back!

Ordered the soup, which was not good,soup all down the side of the bowl dried on, vegetable in the soup hard, and the butter in the pack had completely melted to liquid, the drink we had a cola tasted watered down and a bit flat

Me and Simon go here every Tuesday because it’s some of the best Italian food around (we actually drive 30 mins approx from Morecambe). We are vegan and a little fussy with our food so we order the same thing every week but I feel I have to say wonderful things today because the food was some of the best it’s ever been! The older gentleman that welcomes us every week is a credit to the team and the lady with the short hair is fabulous! We love the whole team, we love the food, the drinks, the atmosphere! Bravo!!

A good place to visit. The Italian restaurant on the site has always been excellent and has some nicely priced lunchtime deals. The pub, Owd Nells, is traditional pub fayre and has been decent on the times we've tried it. There's an ice cream parlour, outdoor seating next to a canal and it's all very picturesque with faux cobbled streets around. I haven't tried the lodgings but know people who have and the general vibe is that they were quite decadent in the early nineties with hot tubs in the rooms, but they haven't changed much and are now a bit dated. There are often special events here such as an ice rink in winter and a kids fairground in summer and we've had great fun at these. But be prepared for it to be crazy busy most of the time, especially on bank holidays and if there is an event on. Booking a table is advised if you want to eat, even in the pub.

Stayed here a good few times now and love it the rooms are lovely and clean, powerful shower, comfy big beds and love the look of the olde worlde style of the place, the whole feel of it is very chalet/holiday camp but nicer. We've had food in the pub and the restaurant (the latter is much nicer obviously) breakfast has always been hot and tasty, and due to its lovely location (by the canal) and atmosphere I would definitely recommend this place 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 👍🏻

We stopped the night we would go back very good service in Guys Italian restaurant. But in old Neals a pint of cider and a smile glass of wine £12 it was not a good price good job we had taken some alcohol to drink

Took the grandkids to the bubble and bounce it was amazing 👍👍😁😁it was onl£10 per child and that includes all the fairground rides took a picnic and bought coffees and drinks all in all a great afternoon 👍

Came to visit twice recently food exceptional and plenty of parking. Visited for the children's bounce fair, cheap deal with it being 10.00 per child for 1hr30 and can on everything as many times as they like. Recommend

Again was a lovely place beautiful scenery staff seemed to be a little useless and I think the food is over priced for what it is, my roast took 45 minutes and was cold when it came out

What a good place kids loved it

Terrible food. Chicken was like rubber.. dry and tasteless. Pizza, no flavour at all. Truly awful. Waste if money amd time. It wasn't busy, I cam see why now.

Great meal, the food was amazing. But the service was out of this world. Our server Bradley was amazing, charming, funny and on point with our needs. He's a credit to the restaurant.

Went to the Italian festival they held, was expecting more stalls with the Italian theme but was surprised there was only a pop up bar. But I have to say it was a great day with a great Italian singer and guitarist, we ordered food and sat down to a great fresh meal at reasonable prices. Was staying over for the night in the onsite hotel rooms and have to say for the money they charged felt it was a little overpriced for the accommodation, room smelt musty, decor and carpet tatty, but after talking to the reception was given a newly decorated room. All in all a great weekend with great food and drink.

Very busy. Couldn’t get booking for restaurant but went to pub. Had 3 small plates and a cheesy garlic bread between 4. Good portions. Good quality. Staff working very hard to keep up.

My recent visit to Guy's Thatched Hamlet Tavern was disappointing, to say the least. We ordered a kids' mac and cheese, which looked like it came straight from a microwave packet—definitely not what you'd expect when dining out. To make matters worse, we were informed that garlic bread had been taken off the kids menu for the mac and cheese which was a letdown. For our main courses, we tried the Canalside Burger and cheesy chips. The burger was dry and chewy, far from enjoyable. Honestly, we would have been better off going to the Carboot burger van. As for the chips, they were very greasy and almost soggy, lacking the crispness you'd hope for in a side dish. The overall experience wasn't helped by the atmosphere. There was only one till for placing food orders, leading to a long queue and many items being unavailable. The tavern itself had a strong smell of stale beer, which was off-putting. Additionally, the interior was quite dark and dingy, making it an uncomfortable place to spend time. Overall, for pub grub, this was possibly one of the worst experiences we've had. We wouldn't recommend it and won't be coming back.

Booked a table for six people for 7.30pm. One of our group eventually got a starter but was told it was delivered to the wrong table after she was half way through, the rest of us waited well over an hour for our starters. A main meal of mussels arrived at the same time. We are guessing a fresh one wasn’t prepared and it was returned to the kitchen and stood. You won’t be surprised that the person who ordered it ended up being ill during the night. Trying to get staff to provide food/drinks was treated as a chore by them and was a reflection of their overall attitude; pig ignorant and rude would sum it up. It took 4 requests and over half an hour to provide a pint of beer. A total lack of any structured management direction is the underlying cause. I’m sure the owners are happy with their profits and couldn’t care less about customer relations. This place is popular but could be so much better. People will not put up for this and will start voting with their feet. Four of us were staying over, needless to say we didn’t bother with breakfast at Guys but went down the road to Light Ash farm and had an excellent breakfast served by pleasant people. It would be really good if someone from Guys took the trouble to respond publicly to comments on Tripadvisor.

Lovely, unique place with free parking and plenty to see. Had a walk along the canal and a drink outside. Peaceful and interesting surroundings. Didn’t stay over so can’t comment on that. Only thing was…..smelled of drains really bad so had to knock a star off 😕

Great little place. Feels good to be there, like you're in a little German resort lol. No park for kids, and we ate in the Italian. We all had pizza, it was OKAY, seriously okay my meat feast (pizza guy) was absolutely terrible, tasted awful. But the others pepperoni and margarita tasted better, I think it was the chicken might of been off. Can feel like an authentic Italian with one of the waitresses or head waitress. Italian doesn't speak English and jesus is she rude lol. We had a gluten free pizza ordered and when brought other it wasn't stated which one, we asked and she just said yes and point, wasn't convinced so asked another, and we was right. It hadn't been brought out yet. Garlic bread was good Id still go again and try the pasta and probably the pub restaurant
