3 well kept cask ales on. Friendly staff and welcoming locals inside.

The cod and chips was a slimy piece of definitely not cod but tasted like Pollock and at £13.00 definitely not worth the money. The small glass of cola was £3.40. No wonder pubs are closing down. The service was good and pleasant and its a nice pub inside. Have had better in a wotherspoons for much less.

Three of us visited for lunch. Service was good as was the food.

Great pub for food and drinks. Come here most weeks and always have a lovely time. Came here tonight for my birthday with a friend for drinks. Georgia and Joey behind the bar have both been great and we have had good laugh with them and plenty of banter. I have recommended the Golden Ball to many of my friends, especially for the food. My wife and I meet in here nearly 30 years ago so holds a special place in our hearts, the food and service is always brilliant

Well what can I say. We went in to watch the grand national and have a drink or two as my mates were up from Manchester to visit me. One of our party ordered some food (we had no idea what he ordered as it was several dishes for a set price). The food was delivered to our table and we thought we got good value for money. It turned out that we had been given our food and the food for the table next door to us. The chef/waiter then came over and said there had been a mistake. The other table obviously refused to take their food since it had been on our table, understandable. Then there was a problem, as a very rude gentleman - it transpired he was the landlord - came to the table and shouted at us citing that there was food on the table that hadn't been paid for. He then grabbed dishes, even ones that we had paid for and ceremoniously pulled them away and placed them on top of each other and took them away. There was no talking to us just treating us as though we were thieves. I hate waste and I would have paid for the mistake had he spoken or even attempted to listen to me. However things got heated and he told us to finish our drinks and leave. This pub can obviously thrive without my money as I would have spent at least another £100 in there. I can't fault the other staff or the food that came out, but the rudeness of the landlord was unacceptable being in the privileged position that he occupies. What a shame and I'll inform the brewery of this terrible experience as this could be a great place to visit, however there are plenty of alternatives in this village that won't ruin your day just because they have had a bad day.

Lovely relaxed evening. Staff are friendly and helpful an pub is spacious and comfortable. The menu is varied and reasonably priced. Traditional pub food, but tasty and well presented.

Stopped by at the Golden Ball for a bit of lunch and a few beers over the weekend, and had a great afternoon / evening. The food was great, drinks well priced, and the staff all fantastic. Been here a few times lately, and each time it gets better. Was chatting to Matt the landlord and he seem's a decent bloke, telling me how a new food menu is due to come out in the next few weeks. Love this place! In the day time you’ll find lovely, friendly locals, busy times differ but more so than not you can expect to be seated and have great food and fast without being bothered by massive crowds. They often have band nights which are brilliant! Lots of people dancing but if that’s not for you, you can find a seat round the corner away from the hustle and bustle comfortably. Being a typical horse racing pub, it’s the place to be each year on the Grand National, amazing day!

We went to see the live band on Saturday evening, but the space is very awkward due to the layout of the pub. No place to sit and standing room is very limited. For those customers who end up having to sit in the other room, would it be possible to put a live video feed through to at least one of the TVs? The band can be heard in that room, so it wouldn't be necessary to have the sound on the TV. We love to watch a live band but we left after one drink and went elsewhere.

Top service from start to finish, from the warm welcome by the barstaff upon entry to the quality of the food and time it took to prepare. We had a booked a table for Mother's Day and my extra needs for accessibility where addressed perfectly and being dog friendly, my Nan could take her little side-kick with her as she never leaves her side. Although politely informed there may be a half hour wait for food when ordering, which I thought that wasn't bad at all being Mother's Day and busy, it came in under this time and every order was spot on! Thank you to all the team for making our day a special one.

We had a lovely meal off the steak Thursday special menu and G had the Katsu curry it was amazing and very good value.Hannah our server was very interactive and nice and friendly to all customers ,we would definitely be back 😋 xx

Sadly we had to attend the local crematorium for a funeral but afterwards the wake was held at this venue. The food was fab, the staff were lovely and looked after us very well and sensitively. Having a sectioned off area for our party worked really well. A lovely pub all round, nice and cosy and tastefully trimmed up for Christmas. Thanks to all the team looking after us and making the day run smoothly!

Made to feel very welcome and staff were friendly. Our table was clean and our food arrived promptly (there were 6 of us). The food was hot, well presented and tasty. Staff came over to make sure everything was to our liking (which it was) and then left us to eat our meal (perfect service). Will definitely return often.

I have been coming to the Golden Ball for many years and I am never disappointed. There is always such a welcoming and warm atmosphere whenever I visit, the staff can never do enough for you and always remember us every time we come back - especially Hannah on the bar. The food is always brilliant quality and great value for money whatever we order and is always served with a smile. It's a great place to stop in for something substantial and affordable on the Fylde and I always recommend it for those asking for somewhere that will fit everyone's taste and budget. We stopped for a bite with hungry kids. Food was good and staved off the hanger; the service, however, was really excellent. Hannah is an impressively accomplished bar manager who greeted and served the growing number of guests with aplomb.

Such a great night here with my friends and a fun friendly atmosphere. We had made plans to go elsewhere but ended up staying here all night! The staff were very down to earth and great at their job!

Took the family out for food. The food was brilliant. I had fish and chips and cant rate it highly enough. Deffo reccommend!! The place is spotlessly clean and so are the toilets. The kids meals was great value and the kids all ate them which is unusual! The atmosphere is so lovely and the owner (Matthew I believe) is so welcoming and couldnt do enough for us along with his staff. I rarely leave reviews but I really feel like this place deserved a 5 star review. We will definately recommend and be going again very soon. P.S. We also had our Golden retriever with us and without asking she was given a bowl of water and they offered her treats (after getting my permission).

We received a very warm welcome on our arrival into this pub. Very good and helpful bar staff and a great atmosphere . Great delicious pub food and also excellent quality and good value for your money.

Went here for lunch and they had football on the televisions at both ends of the pub. The volume was absolutely deafening. I don't know why they would have All the televisions blaring at both ends, surely should have had one end quite for people who want to eat in peace. Ordered a burger which was overcooked. And when my wife ordered a chocolate fudge cake for dessert it took 30 mins to arrive.

Nothing special. Just the average pub.

Went in as had lovely food the week before, sat at a table just outside the food preparation area and ordered on the app, which asked for a table number, unfortunately this place has NO tables with numbers on. 20 minutes later neither the food nor the drinks had arrived so in enquired at the bar to be told that the app doesn't advise them of drinks, and that the wait was being caused by a big order as they were busy, (which is the phrase you'll see most used in other reviews for this pub) I saw the "big" order go past me, which was an individual cheeseburger, nothing else, bear in mind where we were sat. Our food finally arrived and coincidentally my order was a cheeseburger too, but with a difference, no cheese, so I had to go back to the bar to advise them of this, so mine was taken away for the correct ingredients to be added. My partner had the Sweet Chilli Chicken ciabatta, but left it as it was inedible. Will never visit again, not even for a drink. Barstaff were fine, but obviously too scared to ask us how the meal was before we left.

If bar persons could destroy one’s experience then try here. Treats you with absolute contempt for parting with your money. Hideous experience. I don’t want to tar them all with the same brush but it’s the goth looking girl who should never work in hospitality! Me and my wife popped in based on reviews. Never again!

A warm welcoming establishment with a great atmosphere. The Barmaids was very kind and friendly even when busy would make time to get your orders done while still completing the previews order which I found refreshing. This is a good place to drink and catch up with friends and make new ones as the locals are very chatty. My only fault with the place is that the kitchen closes a little early for my liking but that alone doesn't extinguish my over all thoughts of The Golden Ball. I’d recommend this establishment to everyone and anyone will 100% come again

We'd visited this pub previously and enjoyed a few beers and food. We returned last week but unfortunately our experience this time wasn't as pleasant. The bar area was fine and the drinks served in a friendly manner. The problem was the toilets, the mens had a leak and the stench was awful, my wife commented that the ladies was similar and didn't look like they had been cleaned. We left soon after. A shame because apart from this we had enjoyed the visit.

Made a booking for 17:00 for 5 people, on ordering was told there would be a wait as they did not expect us to order that many meals, well its not hard to realise that the chances are the 5 people would be eating. The wait time wasn’t an issue and to be fair the food was rather nice, however the member of staff who brought the meals has a really bad attitude and should not be working in a customer facing environment. I would advise that you get the member of staff trained in customer service! Discussed with the assistant manager who could only apologise.

Disappointing range of beers yesterday regarding strength - topped out at ca 3.6% - not usually as grim as that considering it was early evening. We called back for drinks after eating elsewhere. Coffee was requested but was told it was not available when it was busy; 🤔 - including us, there were no more than 25 people in the place at that time - shades of 'McFlurry machine broken again mate' and just could not be bothered.🤣😂🤣😂

So disappointed in this visit under staffed and when my husband asked for ice and soda in my wine, the blonde barmaid, said no she was too busy what a joke as a diabetic i need soda water in my drink Will probably not return and as a local hotelier will not be recommending there is so many better pubs in the area

The Golden Ball is an epic among locals and visitors. One of the oldest pubs in Poulton, come for the beers and good pub food, stay for the lovely staff, decent music and chilled atmosphere. Always feel very safe, staff are professional and friendly and have helped me out, going above and beyond, on more than one occasion! Old photos of Poulton on the wall, smoking area out the back, always clean and themed nights every weekday (Quiz, Poker, Steak night etc.). Near the taxi rank and Booths carpark, would highly recommend the Halloumi and chips. It's my favourite pub in Poulton because it's different to other places which can be loud and follow the same blueprint of food/drinks/decor. No need to download an app to order or pre-book for food. Beer and food prices are reasonable and it's buzzy enough to be by yourself, and relaxed enough to have a proper chat with who you're with. Friendly regulars and again, the staff are outstanding in terms of customer service, good chat and professionalism. They look after you well! Dog friendly. Get yourself down there!
