The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

Firstly, may I start by saying that I have visited this lovely restaurant on many occasions and the food has always been exceptional! It is unlike many of the other restaurants in and around Wickersley. The food has always been amazing and the service fantastic. It will always be a go to spot for me and my friends. Last week, as a special request, my friend hired the team at The Garrison to make cocktails for us and a large group of friends for my hen party (at a separate location). The service was out of this world, the cocktails were top notch and no one was waiting long for a drink! The customer service here is really something special and I would highly recommend reaching out to them for events in the future!

Our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. On entering we were met by every seat in the house taken with ours waiting for us by the pass. Very attentive and friendly yet professional staff. There is a limited but also comprehensive menu covering all tastes. The wine list being very similar in its extent. The food was to die for and I’ve found a new favourite wine too. At £110 per couple including wine and our tip, I thought it was very good value for the quality of food and service.

What an amazing experience. The setting is stunning, the food is magical and the whole ethos of sustainability surrounding The Cottage in the Wood is inspiring.

No food these days, but good selection of bar snacks including XL Cheese and the pints of Loweswater Gold are perfect, Usually another real ale is available. Service excellent. Nice crowd, like when I last drank in here in 2010. Prices very reasonable. Will drink & bar snack here again.

Three of us called in here on Tuesday 8 April as we were staying nearby and thought we could get a nice meal. Well it was only then we found out they do not serve any meals on a Monday or Tuesday as so with that in mind we had dipped out. Anyway as we had walked from our guest house here we sat down and did enjoy the lovely characteristic atmosphere and enjoyed a drink. While we sat and had a drink we discussed were we could eat locally and found that all pubs in the area never served food Monday or Tuesday. We finally drank up and I had walked back to our accommodation and collected the car for our venture further afield to find food. I would say it would have been handy on the pubs website and TripAdvisor for a note against opening times to say NO FOOD served on Monday or Tuesday as that would have been helpful information to know!!

Fabulous food and great service in a super venue with brilliant views. Absolutely excellent value. Can't recommend highly enough.

Came here for a Saturday breakfast before the long drive home. Arrived around 11 and was informed of a 30min wait for which they kindly took our number and phoned us up when ready. We waited only 15 mins in the pub next door before we called back! The service, food, and experience were all top notch. The full english was served perfectly and the coffee was superbly made. The prices were good for the quality on offer. Everyone was very friendly and I'm so glad I was recommended to come here.

Lovely bakery and shop across the Kyle from Dunoon. Perfect lunch spot with a few outdoor tables.

A small but a fabulous restaurant. A menu with so many choices and at very acceptable prices. Service is excellent and food is a real pleasure. Good atmosphere with good background music. A really good find in Salisbury.

Lovely staff and super fresh food. Other half had a build your own breakfast and I had a veggie one. Both very nice. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again.

The food here is absolutely amazing!! They change the menu every week which is great 😊 best place to go for a nice meal. Nats the landlady is amazing too so friendly and accommodating 😊 allows dogs here too so they don’t have to be left at home 😊 staff are fantastic too 😊

Excellent food and nice atmosphere. Maybe a little bit on the pricey side for a Sunday lunch, but was very enjoyable nevertheless
