This is a great Coffee Lounge & Diner with a really lovely and welcoming host Malcolm. The food is freshly cooked and is great quality at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very relaxed and not rushed with Malcolm making everyone feeling at ease. They have a nice menu of options with daily specials on a board. We have been here a couple of times now and whenever we are in the locality we will be sure to go again and again. You will not be disappointed. From The Barnsley Bunch.

Whilst in Filey on a wet morning and looking for a decent venue we came across The Pines. Straight away we were welcomed warmly and after studying the menu found everything to be very reasonably priced. We found that Malcolm and Margret were very engaging and found the conversation with us and everyone else in the place to be very warm and genuine. Great with the kids also! Unfortunately in my experience most places don’t engage in conversation but I found myself speaking to Malcolm about Football, Golf and local recommendations. A great couple running a great diner with lots of choice and great value, really enjoyed our breakfast there.

Such a lovely welcome and great customer service. Food lovely and reasonably priced too. Kids loved it even more when they were offered a lolly before we left. Would definitely return if we are back in the area.

What a fabulous find "The Pines" truly is. The food is absolutely delicious both the mains and the desserts catering for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Always friendly and Malcolm (front of house) really is a star. If you tease him he will always get you back - the two tubes of sugar on the edge of my plate with my cornish pasty had me giggling for hours afterwards. You could not wish to find a more friendly place - it does fill up quickly and for good reason.

Visited here with my wife many times, lovely food at a reasonable price. The host, Malcolm is very welcoming and such a nice fella. The only place in Filey we head to for either breakfast or lunch. If the host Malcolm doesn’t make you laugh, then you ain’t got a sense of humour.

For the past couple of years, we have been loyal customers to this lovely little restaurant. Malcolm is always so welcoming and so is his wife (sorry, I do not know her name). You can expect a well cooked traditional meal here i.e. pies, pasties, fish goujons, quiche, sandwiches, burgers, breakfasts etc. The food is always tasty and reasonably priced too. We will definitely be back when we visit Filey again.

Came in yesterday with my daughter (10) mother and aunt. On arrival, we were greeted warmly and the gentleman was fantastic. After ordering food we thoroughly enjoyed (three bacon sandwiches one extra crispy and one lasagna) the gentleman had my daughter grinning as he joked about her ice cream by the end! We will be returning next time in the area.

We found this little gem of a place by chance as we usually eat in another cafe in Filey when we are here on holiday but the other place has gone dramatically downhill since it changed owners again so we needed to find somewhere else. As this lovely little cafe is up one of the side streets we hadn't seen it before but are so glad that we have now. The owners are lovely people, always a smile and a friendly welcome and the food is delicious and very reasonably priced, with good sized portions. I would recommend The Pines to anyone. It is only small but it leaves a very big impression (in a good way) and we will definitely be making this our regular eating place during all of our future holidays in the area. Lovely little cafe slightly off the beaten track in Filey. Very friendly hosts that provide simple fare but is of good quality and very reasonably priced. It is almost a step back in time and none the worse for that. Recommended.

If we are eating out in Filey this is where we go. My husband has the steak pie and I have either vegetarian lasagne or turkey and mushroom pie. The food is delicious and the owners are very welcoming. You leave feeling as if they are your friends.

We had a lunchtime meal during our recent family holiday to Filey. I had seen the reviews on Tripadvisor and decided to try it out and we were all glad we did. The venue is very welcoming and calm, just what we needed after walking around the town. Our sons had the Cumberland sausage, which was big enough to fill them up for the whole day, and my wife and I had the home made chicken and mushroom and meat and potato pies, which were delicious. The sweet toothed ones had treacle sponge and apple crumble for puddings, all washed down with tea and coffee. The boys were even treated to a complimentary lollipop before we left. The next time we’re back in the area, we’ll definitely be popping back for another meal, and I’d recommend visiting to anyone in Filey who is looking for a fantastic place to eat.

My wife stumbled across this place on our last day at Filey and what a great find. The cafe has a lovely homely feeling to it with lots of regulars visiting as the owner was greeting them during our visit. We were lucky to have a table as in no time the tables did fill up. I ordered a steak pie which was gone cooked and absolutely delicious. My wife and son had lasagne which again they said was very very good. My daughter had fish fingers. Unfortunately they had an amazing selection of desserts so we had treacle sponge and custard and sticky toffee pudding, they even offered a half portion for my daughter. When we visit Filey again we will certainly be visiting again, the whole experience was excellent and the owner couldn’t do enough for us and I would highly recommend anyone to visit during their stay in Filey!

One of our reasons to visit Filey is to have lunch here. We love it. Food is lovely & owners are so friendly - they make you feel like family. Malcolm always cheers us up with his humour - watching him banter with the customers is part of our enjoyment. We look forward to our next visit.

With my wife we planned on breakfast in Filey on a Saturday morning. We tried 3 places with no luck, and had decided to head back home. Cutting through a side street we came across The Pines and thought one last place to try. So glad we did the owners are lovely and treated us as old friends. The breakfast was great fresh cooked and arrived hot and well presented. Coffee and Tea very nice. We were given a map of Filey with high tide times, useful if you plan to walk along the Brigg. I know next time it will be our 1st port of call. Customers who came in were all treated like friends and I noticed all were greated by name.

Absolutely amazing. Malcolm is a great guy with first class customer service. Also if you’re worried about Covid the safety measures are thorough.

Clean, tidy and nicely set out. It is difficult to think of anything more to say about this cafe. The only real stand-out characteristic is the proprietor. Depending on your point of view, he is either a friendly and jovial host or an unwelcome pest. As a result, this is not the place to visit if you are looking for a little privacy with your coffee and slice of cake with your partner. On the other hand, if it is old fashioned if somewhat dated banter with a slight sexist slant you want with your beverage than look no further.

Excellent little coffee shop / diner in Filey. We visited on a Sunday in August and got a warm welcome. Had coffee and cake / ice cream. The owners have made great efforts to make it Covid secure and has screens, contact details recording, customer hand sanitising in place. Felt safe as well as being friendly and welcoming. Went to Filey for breakfast, tried a couple of cafes but none serving full English breakfast, found The Pines. The menu said serving breakdowns until 11.30am the time was 11.50 so we thought we had missed it however Malcom greeted us at the door and asked if we wanted a table. I said we wanted breakfast but looks like we’ve missed it, he enquired with the chef if they would be willing to cook us 4 and they agreed. So we were seated with Covid-19 guidelines-2 to a table with screens and hand sanitizer plus signing in for track and trace. The breakfasts arrived and were cooked perfect. Very nice jovial and informative host-Malcolm I believe. Cannot recommend enough and will definitely be regulars. Compliments to Margaret and Malcolm

When in Filey my parents loved visiting here, sadly Mum passed away but we still visit with my Dad, who loves the place!Malcolm is such a kind welcoming gentleman, who goes out of his way to make you happy.The coffee was lovely, the children's hot chocolates too. The food coming from the kitchen looked tasty, especially the crumble and custard!!Everything is Covid-19 covered, from hand sanitizer to giving your name etc and PPE in place.I lovely clean and overall cute little cafe in the heart of Filey.

Called in for coffee and a snack during our recent holiday in this beautiful part of the UK. The welcome, service and banter with Malcolm was first class as was the coffee and snacks. A very enjoyable time spent in this quaint little cafe on a side street just off the high street In Filey.

This is a great little place , we just had a hot drink on this occasion The owner greeted us as if we where regulars . We've been to Filey many times over the years but we've just found the Pines, cant comment on the food but we'll go there for a meal on our next visit, there arnt many places like this left , loved it.

The Pines Coffee Lounge is super quality and service, not only serving snacks but hot meals, very promptly served by Margaret and Malcolm. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They do a children's menu too and are great with the kids. It is the best place in Filey to have a hot lunch, prices are reasonable and everything is cooked freshly. Highly recommended.

Visited Filey a sea side town on our sight seeing holiday. Nice town freindly people, we looked for a place to have afternoon tea and were so pleased to find The Pines. The owner was very freindly and cheerful made us welcome and we had tea and cream scones for two and a muffin and tea for our daughter. Highly recommend this place if you want great service and food with out the wet dog smell. A lot of the surrounding eating places are open to customers bringing their dog in with them.
