I’ve eaten here for many years and they’ve delivered excellent burgers and sides, but now their food has gone completely down hill! The burgers patties are cheap and nasty, they skip out on giving you cheese (when you pay for cheese extra) and the buns aren’t brioche, they’re cheap nasty buns that make up most of the burger. Shame. Was my favourite burger bar in cardiff, never again

As a frequent diner at Miller & carter, visiting more than twice a month, I am deeply disappointed by the appalling service I experienced at The Hayes during a recent family occasion. It was, without question, the worst dining experience I have ever had, leaving all parties both frustrated and disheartened. After being initially served, our waitress did not return to our table. We received our starters within 20 minutes, but then waited over an hour for our mains without any updates or attention. When we finally asked about our food, it arrived 10 minutes later in an unacceptable state—steak and chips that were dry, tasteless, and clearly left sitting for too long. The steak, ordered medium-rare, was overcooked and inedible. When I raised this with a staff member, they corrected me with unnecessary attitude, insisting it was medium-rare, before reluctantly offering a replacement without an apology. The reorder arrived 15 minutes later but was of similarly poor quality. By this point, my family had already missed their train and were forced to wait two more hours for the next one. I had to leave halfway through my meal to retrieve my car before my parking ran out. During the entire three hours+ we were at the restaurant, no one came to check on drinks, ask if we wanted dessert, or provide any form of basic hospitality. We had to repeatedly call for staff to request the bill, as our server was nowhere to be seen. Even at this stage, no one apologised for the poor service. While three meals were removed from the bill as a resolution, we felt unable to request my sister’s M&B employee discount due to the discomfort caused by the experience. Overall, this was far below the standard I have come to expect from Miller & carter. The lack of professionalism, absence of an apology, and poor-quality food ruined what was meant to be a special occasion for my family. I will not return .

My wife and I are a big fan of miller & carter and have been many many times over the years. We’ve just visited tonight in Thornhill and a simple request to swap the onion loaf for a few mushrooms isn’t a big ask. The waitress “who was lovely” said it was no problem but then later come back 15mins later to say the chef refused this request so she was very sorry. It wasn’t her fault and she felt really awkward because she agreed wasn’t a big ask as the chef was being really rude. We told her it wasn’t her fault and not to worry. I ordered the 16oz Rib Eye that was cooked really nice and was lovely, but my wife’s 9oz rump was over cooked and tough and was not worth the money at all. We didn’t want to complain as my wife felt bad for the waitress and we don’t like to complain normally but tonight has really annoyed us. We spent £80 odd and not to give a few mushrooms isn’t the best service especially when it’s a swap for a onion loaf and then for my wife’s steak to not be medium but well done was not good either. Overall wasn’t the best of meal for my wife and she actually said it t was really poor. We’ve don’t get out very often due to children etc but that definitely put a damper on the evening. Like I say not one to complain but the chef needs to thank the waitress for us not returning a terrible cooked steak that was a really poor cut also.

Had the worst experience at this place with my partner. They had a big ad at the entrance claiming they were the winner of Wing Fest, which we love. So, we decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I told them I wanted to order takeaway because we didn’t want to eat in such a loud place. The girl at the counter said, ‘OK,’ but she was extremely rude and seemed more interested in talking to her friends than helping us. After waiting 20 minutes (even though the place was empty), she finally came out with the food and said, ‘The chef said he doesn’t have a takeaway box, so here’s your food,’ then threw it on the table and walked away. My partner went to speak with the chef, and thankfully, he managed to find a plastic box for us. The girl’s behavior was extremely rude. I think you should consider removing the ads from the entrance if this is the kind of experience customers can expect.

Visitamos la sala de espera un sábado por la tarde en octubre. Una encantadora selección de platos y una gran sección vegetariana y vegana. Pequeño y amistoso, ¡puede imaginarse que se llena durante una noche de evento! Nos atendió un joven que fue muy amable, tuve la fusión de arándano y brie y mi compañero tenía una hamburguesa. Mi plato era encantador, un pan suave y las patatas fritas deliciosas. Mi compañero no tenía nada más que elogios por la hamburguesa, dijo que se podía decir que era un producto de buena calidad y no uno congelado del efectivo y el transporte. Buena relación calidad-precio también - ¡sin duda volveremos!

Well what an experience today ordered a smokey Joe burger and fries turn up with a chicken burger. When told a member of staff that I received the wrong food they finally turned up with the correct order the burger was freezing cold and just slapped together which was fit for the bin spoke to the manager and his attitude was appalling
