I went to GLUT on a Monday lunchtime for a burger before leaving Oxford. I wanted to visit an independent burger restaurant rather than one of the many chains that feature in every town and was not disappointed by my experience today at GLUT. The staff were very attentive and immediately brought me a bottle of water and a glass as soon as I sat down. The burger was freshly cooked to order and was definitely worth the wait as I can say that it was one of the best burgers I've had. It was a shame that there weren't more people there, as the burgers are fantastic. As a result, the atmosphere was a little dead, but that's perhaps to be expected on a Monday lunchtime.

Mixed bag here tbh. The pub itself is really nice, yet somehow also has an unwelcoming vibe. Staff are professional and swift, but also highly transactional. No conversation or humour here, just business. The rooms are fine - we laughed at the review of "TV too small" thinking what a weak comment, but it's actually correct - they are miniscule. Barely bigger than an iPad and far far away. Food was exorbitantly priced and not special. Hidden service charge for no apparent reason. Breakfast was a box of cereal on the bar with some apple juice and mislabelled yogurts. A cubic inch of overcooked steak accompanied the breakfast, so that makes it a Grillhouse I guess. It was acceptable for 1 night just be aware you'll be fleeced here.

What a shame this place has gone downhill so badly. We used to come here often but have gone back yesterday and the prices of the food have doubled, the portioned halved and the quality is non existent. My friend ordered a sweet potato soup, got given a mushroom one as they had run out of the sweet potato (but didn't tell her at the time of ordering). It was so watery and disgusting it had to be sent back. It came with one tiny slice of bread. The cheese toasties were tiny and lacked in cheese. In the summer the staff was so unexperienced as all the students have gone home and only international students were working that the queues were horrendous. They didn't know what a lager shandy was and my daughter had to make a cocktail herself. They can't employ students from other Universities so all the summer students who are back home can't get a job there, even if they clearly were struggling to get staff, and the ones they had were useless. Such a shame as it is in a great location. Please sort out your food and staff!

Went with my two boys early on a Saturday evening. Lovely friendly staff. The food came promptly and was fantastic. Nice large portions, too. My 11 year old said the "dirty" chips were the best ever.

2 out of 4 Harvey's beers on cask. The olympia went off half way through pulling the pint... Pub was dead on a sunny Sunday evening. Dirty glasses left on tables. Won't be going back.
