Stakks Pancake House in Southampton

The pancakes are okay. Had the double blueberry vegan pancakes. They were oddly salty but I didn't hate it. My main gripe is that despite ordering close together, there was quite a gap between the first and last person getting their food. It wasn't especially busy when we got there but we ended up being there for an hour because we were waiting for one person to get their pancakes which was disappointing. Other people who arrived long after got their food before. They have a good amount of vegan options which is good.

Long wait to order and Long long wait for our pancakes and our order didn’t even come out at the same time (not the case for deliveroo orders). Pancakes were greasy with little to no flavour. All round very disappointing and poor experience.

Love this place! Great food, great prices! They are genuinely the best pancakes around! You must check it out if you've not yet tried!

Just wanted to say I was in your Southampton branch today and was charged a services charge and when I said I didn't want to pay service charge I was told that I had to or I couldn't eat hear by a younger member of staff. The services was very poor and I had to wait nearly 50 mins for my stack pancake. I asked the staff when should I receive my pancake and she said soon. 15 mins later I d=got my pancake and the staff member placed it on my table and walked away not saying sorry for the wait or enjoy your pancake. I will not eat there again as after being charged a service charge the service was a joke.

Me, my husband and my son had an amazing breakfast this morning. Super friendly staff and the lady with dark hair and glasses made sure we had a wonderful experience. The other 2 staff members were busy and were very smiley.

Absolute joke of a place. Service staff were great but the lady manager was very poor. I had to wait a long time, nearly 25 mins. No customers waiting apart from me. Clearly prioritised deliveroo. In the end I had to leave due to work. Couldn't take a take out as not able to eat at work. Lady manager clearly didn't want to refund so I ended up having to leave. Well I hope you enjoyed your tip from me. I will certainly not come back here and wouldn't recommend anyone else either. Also stop micromanaging your staff. They clearly looked unhappy with you doing it

Really good food, though a shame that they aren’t making gf American pancakes anymore. Unfortunately today, at the Southampton branch, our food took almost an hour to come out and we received no apology or compensation for the delay. Very disappointing!

Horrible experience today. We have been waiting for the food to come more than 60min and when came it was cold. The bacon was burnt and cold and very hard, the pancakes had no taste. First came my order and we waited another 20 min for my partner order to be served but in the end we had to stand up and leave. It use to be a nice place with nice food, but unfortunately not today.

If you want packcakes don’t come here. So i am sat here and genuinely I haven’t received them. I have been sat here for 53 Minutes. Pancakes are a quick job. We have had people get them before us that ordered larger meals too. Mr Staks, I would like a refund. However, staff are really nice and give good service

I have not been a customer yet but the three stars was awarded for the menu. I will be visiting sometime in the future.

Went for the first time today with the family, was a little disappointed with mine, the ultimate Weekender... 2 bacon strips were like burnt to a crisp. The pancakes were cooked on the outside but undercooked inside, tasted of batter mix and oil. These would be much better cooked in butter for a little longer. The wife enjoyed her Crêpe and my 8 year old no so sure as she left half of her pancakes.

It was a spacious place to sit, The pancake was not hot or freshly made which was a little disappointing

As I'm writing this I can honestly say I'm fighting myself to just turn around and get the same again!! 🤣🤤 Absolutely delicious! Fresh, hot, and so good! Definitely come here again! The only issue was that I didn't get a photo as I couldn't control myself 😂😂 5*

I've come to stakks for near on 9 years now, every time I've dined, I've never been dissapointed ever. The food, fantastic, the team, fantastic and the shop? Just as great as Day 1. I'll always be loyal to Stakks.

Decided to treat ourselfs tonight with Stakks. We're normally creatures of habit and stick to our usual favourites. However tonight we tried one of their current specials, the sticky piggy. Omg it was absolutely amazing!! All the flavours were fantastic and go so well together. We lived the fact the pigs in blankets were Homemade too!! This needs to be a permanent option I think it was just so good!! The team are always so polite and friendly and go above and beyond! Thank you for our lovely dinner tonight!!

However, I find it necessary to address your response regarding my supposed failure to notice the 5% service charge displayed on tables and at the till. Please clarify how I would have seen these notices when I clearly stated that these were TAKEAWAYS. I recently ordered over the phone with the Chandlers Ford location, twice, after accessing your online menu, which only gives mention of a 10% service charge for tables of six or more. As a TAKEAWAY customer ordering by phone, I could not have seen the menus on the table or the notices at the till. I would appreciate your clarification on how such information could have been accessible to me in this context. Additionally, I would appreciate further clarification on why a service charge is being applied to takeaway orders. I am particularly concerned about the notion that customers are expected to compensate your staff due to the "cost of living crisis." To better understand this, I have conducted some research and would like to raise the following points: 1. Takeaway service doesn't typically involve extensive service: therefore, a service charge is generally not expected for takeaway, as there’s less direct service to justify it. 2. Cost of living should be addressed by the employer: If a restaurant is struggling with the cost of living, the responsibility to compensate employees fairly should fall primarily on the employer. The business can adjust its menu prices or operational structure to ensure workers receive fair compensation, rather than adding extra charges to takeaway orders. 3. Original review. I cannot fault the food, service or atmosphere but what really grates me about this place is that they put a hidden service charge on my takeaway twice, without informing me. I came home to calculate why the charge was different to the menu and only when I queried it, did they tell me this. Please be aware of this scam. I have zero respect for places that do this, it is bang out of order!

Arrived at 11.30 on a Saturday and was seated quick. Ordered food but was told there was a 40 minute wait due to being short staffed. But assured that's worst case. Anyway 50 minutes later we asked where it was and I was told 'apologies but no one out your order in' meaning another long wait. In the end we just walked out. I'm disgusted with how poorly I was treated. And to make matters worse they where charging a service charge. For what?? Not putting my order in, making me wait and then telling me I had longer to wait... no thank you. Pay your staff a decent wage and stop fobbing the extra off on customers and then maybe you won't be short staffed bcos people will actually want to come and work for you!

No soy un gran fan de las tortitas para el desayuno, pero quería darle una oportunidad a Stakks. Me pedí el clásico atemporal, la tortita de tocino y jarabe de arce. Era bastante bueno y el jarabe de arce era definitivamente un grado A puro, que es el mejor. Mi novia pidió el stakk de arándanos con crema fresca. Eso también fue bastante delicioso. También tienen la opción de cambiar las tortitas con crepes si te apetece algo así. Tienen una cocina abierta por lo que si te sientas dentro también puedes verlos cocinar tus tortitas. En general tenía un buen desayuno con algunas deliciosas tortitas.

Awesome Banofee American style pancakes first time back there since January 2020. The price has gone up quite a bit. Taste was good a bit less chocolate sauce would be ideal but the pancakes were very soft and tasty. The pancakes sat there for a few minutes before they were served to me as the ice cream melted as it arrived to the table

Sixth visit this year... averaging once a month! Always an enjoyable visit. Great service, and freshly cooked food. Couldn't really ask for more. Only 4/5 for at atmosphere... No fault of Stakks, but you can't really expect top notch ambience in a shopping centre! Massive variety of fillings/toppings both sweet and savoury. Would be very surprised if you didn't find something to take your fancy. I keep meaning to go for something sweet but can't help defaulting to the Weekender (full English, on pancakes with maple syrup). Great people, great food. 👍🏾👍🏾

A lovely little place in the Marlands Shopping Centre. It wasn't very busy and only took a few minutes from the time of ordering to the food being served.

We would have gone to the pancakehouse today but it was not that good because we would have ordered crepes with nutella but the crepes were too hard like they had been lying for days, they were not fresh. I feel like I wasted my money going there I have wasted 65 pound.

Really enjoyed my time here with my family. Food and service were very fast Atmosphere was also really nice will definitely be going back.

The food was delicious. Service was good. The food took a while, but they were pretty busy. We were so hungry that by the time it came we forgot to take pictures until after we'd already started eating. The fresh squeezed orange juice was very good as well. Would recommend eating here, just make sure you have some time, in case they're busy.

Amazing pancakes and customer service

I went with my family as we wanted a small lunch. My dad cannot eat too much, and I have to stick to small meals. The plan was we would all get kids pancakes as the portions were smaller and manageable. My younger sisters were able to have the kids pancakes, but the lady working told me and my father we could not have the kids menu. It was only for 10 and under. From my understanding, that gives you an idea of portion sizes of the meal. It's cheaper because you get less food which is why we wanted it. But we were rudely told that was not possible. Unbelievable. Next time we will all go somewhere else. I have previously had the kids pancake no issue before. This new server today decided to cause issues.

Cutlery was dirty. No tissue paper s on table nor it was served with the food.

Encantadora cafetería, el servicio era muy amable y feliz de ayudar, la comida era deliciosa, caliente y rápida, las crepes y tortitas de estilo americano son muy sabrosas, especialmente el jarabe y el limón fresco para las crepes, realmente disfrutamos de nuestra visita y volveremos.

Enjoyed the food . Tasty Pancakes. Lots of vegan options . But they Dont know what a flat white is last time I ask for flat white they gave me americano with milk on side that is not flat white small or large only come in one size its a quite a strong coffee with pretty patten on top 3 picture is a flat white ! Atmosphere comfortable with lovely air-conditioning.

First time there the Crepe was nice just too much chocolate spread especially as was not expecting any.

My wife took me to Stakks at the Marlands Centre,Southampton for a special treat. On arrival we were cheerfully welcomed by Ollie, who made us so welcome. Ordered the strawberry pancakes. The pancakes were good quality. The whit chocolate sauce I had tasted watered down. The quantity of strawberries was disappointing considering the cost.

One of my favourite places for brunch. Good value for money, with amazing tasting American pancakes. We love the ultimate weekender & chocoholic flavours. The only reason to go to southampton is Stakks for me!

Literally the best pancake in Southampton 😮‍💨👌🏼.. their Kinder Bueno special was banging.. I hope they will do more special flavours (starting with snickers would be nice 😉☺️)

Great food. Balsamic glaze was a bit too much on the crepes. The strawberry pancake stacks were delicious. The oil smell was strong in the restaurant, otherwise, it was a good experience. They have quite a few vegetarian and vegan options.

Nice and airy, so it is really cool in here. There are lots of savory and sweet choices. The maple syrup and bacon was amazing. Staff very polite. I wish there was an option for a smaller stack and a lower price as I found it hard to est all mine. Also having syrup bottles on the table to pour on extra if you need any. Extra syrup packets cost over 2 pounds which is really expensive. Not saying all toppings should be provided for free but it is kind of odd not to do it with syrup which is known to go with pancakes. Overall a very nice place to eat.

Good food and coffee. Would be 5 stars but the music was too loud. And I don't like that they add a service charge to all orders when you even have to go to the counter to order? Nevertheless I would go back.

The staff is very friendly and the place is well-kept. I just felt that the pancakes could have been a bit better, but the prices were reasonable. They have both savory and sweet options together with shakes, coffees Etc Etc. Would definitely go there again to try out the other Flavours. The portion size is good. Has the typical ambiance you would expect from the cafe at a mall.

Great place for something different for breakfast.

We got the Nutella stakk and it was horrible you guys should go go sprinkles or kaspas instead! The milkshakes are mid as well. And we asked for more Nutella on our pancakes as they barely had any, especially on the fruits nothing and they didn’t accept. Such a waste of money makes sinve why there’s only 3 ppl in here !

Really great food and customer service

Just went to Stakks Pancake House yesterday at 6pm. Immediately met with alert, warm and attentive staff, specifically Ollie and Annie- Ollie who showed me the ropes of my first experience at Stakks and Annie for serving me and making sure everything was good! My order: NYC Stakk (best seller) which I had with American pancakes + Chocoholic Stakk but as a crepe with white chocolate and whipped cream NYC Stakk: sweet saltiness with fluffy pancakes that are light as clouds. I can understand why it’s a best seller. Came with maple syrup and can tell it was made with TLC and effort. Bacon was crispy and did not have an ounce of fat which I personally love. The saltiness of the bacon was well was perfect, and the slight crunch to it was a fantastic contrast with the air light pancakes. Saltiness of the bacon was a nice pairing with the maple syrup. Even without the syrup, the pancakes and bacon alone did not feel dry. Smell was great, smells like a classic American diner. 3 layers of pancake all separated by 2 strips of bacon each. Chocoholic Stakk (Crepe), with white chocolate and whipped cream: I mean WOWZA! This was really nice! As someone with a sweet tooth, all I can say was that this was good, too good! Think of a melt of just marshmallow, Maltesers, white chocolate, milk chocolate shavings. Every element was just the perfect balance, nothing felt too much or overpowering in the mouth, a perfect blend of just chocolate and gooey heaven! They say don’t have dessert before dinner but I broke this unofficial rule (and will!) for this Stakk. If this isn’t a best seller it should be because it’s such a good little treat. Definitely happy I chose the crepe version as with American pancakes I feel it would be too dense and ruin the blend of everything. General notes - food only took 15 minutes from me entering to being out on my table. Didn’t even feel that long because everything was so efficient and smooth. Definitely coming back at a busier time to see if this changes but so far so good - Stakks has 2 menus: the ‘general’ and the ‘vegan’. There’s vegan/vegetarian options on both and there’s so many options and modifications that can be done to the food items so there is definitely something that fits everyone’s dietary needs - the staff were alert, warm, upbeat and attentive. Made me feel like I’m a regular rather than a first time guest. Special shout out to Ollie and Annie who made sure everything was okay with not just the order but with me as well. Can tell the team has a great working relationship! - Atmosphere: even though I went at an off peak time (6pm on Friday) and I was one of the few in Stakks, I didn’t feel alone. Had a nice jovial feel to it. Music in the background was a nice touch and the smells from the kitchen were very inviting, didn’t feel too much at any time. Had that family feel to it. - Cleanliness: very clean from the outside and even when I was eating, never noticed any mess and staff were constantly keeping the surfaces clean which I appreciate. - Seating: lots of seating for a place of that size, even some outside seating. Can defo adequately cater many people on a busy day but didn’t feel cramped- spaced out just right. Sat on one of the tables with the 4 chairs and was generally comfortable but as someone with wider hips the sides of the chair does dig into my sides so did have a -1 point in comfortability there. Had to sit a bit forward to be more comfortable. Main issue: something I have seen over and over in the reviews is the size of the Stakks and the price. I certainly agree with this. Whilst the Stakks were enjoyable, they were pricey for the size of them although I think this is more true for the American pancakes than the crepes but I would have liked larger everything for what I’m paying (total came up to over £20.89😬). I really want to be a regular (Annie gave me a loyalty card!!!), however if the prices don’t change or the Stakks don’t get bigger, there would be less incentive to return. Overall 4.1 stars/5. Wanna be a regular, here’s to more Stakks!!

I will keep this simple, It's simple food, it's okay. The main issue is they charge a very high price for a lot of what they serve! I mean you can end up spending £20 on a pancake and milkshake... but you don't get your monies worth, it's normally mid tier food and alright shakes. I would go else where but since they doo gluten free I find myself here now and then with my mother/sister. I would avoid there are better places to eat!

2nd time dining in the states pancake house, we always eat here when traveling through the area. If ur a foody and love pancakes look no further

This place is a pancake paradise! It has become a tradition for me now to meet friends in Stakks after the Sunday boxing session for a delicious savioury or sweet meal. English vegeterian on American pancakes is to due for! same for Spanish one :) A must-visit for pancake aficionados!

Unbeatable pancake place in Southampton. It's our place to go with kids once a month. This time we tried Chocoholic Crêpes and Nutella Crêpes, delicious.

We recently went to stakks. We went up to the till and put through our order. I’d already added mine up so when it came to be more expensive at the till I asked why. I was told they add a 5% service charge….at this point we’d not had any service!!!!!’ I asked for it to be removed and they told me it wasn’t able to be removed and if the service was bad they would refund it.Service charge is entirely voluntary!!!! Plus they charged it for something that hadn’t actually happened!!’ Won’t ever go there again because of that. Also the service was absolutely dreadful! The lady who took our order couldn’t understand me or the ladies I was with which is a huge problem…. Wouldn’t go again

We went here for breakfast pancakes. It was really enjoyable. Staff were very friendly polite and attentive. The owner/ manager delivered our food and was very welcoming and told us some history of how it began and what was on offer. Our food not only tasted great but well presented and as we were waiting for our food to be cooked we got to view other orders which also looked amazing. Highly recommended and we would definitely go back again

Visited the new Chandlers Ford restaurant with my daughters, nephews & father-in-law for a special treat. The kids absolutely loved their pancakes, smoothies & milkshakes, whilst us adults enjoyed our coffees. We visited in the evening, for dessert after having dinner at home - they are open until 7.30 so it was ideal. Friendly, attentive service as well. One of my nephews is lactose intolerant and I was competently advised on what he could have from the menu. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will be returning soon. I’d like to try the breakfast stacks next 🥞 😂

Incredible scenes Friendly and helpful service helps create an easy going vibe. Food is excellent, portions are generous, food made fresh and fast -price is very reasonable. Excellent place to take the kids for a treat, treat yourself out just get a savoury dish for a meal with a bit of variety. Definitely recommend this hidden gem - if it was in west quay you'd never get a table - being tucked in the Marlands you have to seek it out but it's totally worth it.

I decided to step away from the usual chain places for breakfast today and I'm glad I did! Wandered up around 10 and there were already several tables occupied with others being reserved (always a good sign!). Ordered my pancakes and they were ready before I knew it, covered in breakfasty goodness. Everything tasted great and staff were friendly. Would definitely come here again next year!

We came to Stakks yesterday for my daughter's 4th birthday treat. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional, the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much. The food was next level and all cooked fresh, we had the best time and will definitely be returning! Thank you for helping to make my daughter's birthday special!

there was barley any cinnamon at all and the tiniest amount of ice cream for a sharing plate for 2-3 people.... pancakes themselves were yummy tho.
