HarBAR on 6th in Southampton

First time at this hotel and cannot recommend enough. Marina view hotel room was beautiful and classy. The free gin was a nice touch. Miriam at reception was super helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much and all the staff front of house were friendly, helpful and attentive. The gym had everything an avid gym goes would need and the spa area was relaxing. All facilities very conveniently immediately accessible by lift from the rooms. There is a cuisine restaurant on the lower floor but we ate dinner in The Harbour upstairs. Again waiting staff were super friendly and attentive. We had booked a table at Harbar on 6th and the amazing DJ Ross E B made sure we had one of the popular window tables near the DJ booth. The staff were attentive and we were served by a lovely young man running the Southampton marathon the next morning. DJ Ross E B kept us highly entertained with some banging House Music. The bar was busy and the ambience was spot on. Every bit of this hotel from the atmosphere, the staff and the decor was outstanding. After a restful night sleep we went back upstairs for a prepaid breakfast which we had added to our booking from Booking.com. However, despite paying for this it had not come through to the hotel. The staff were amazing and generously gave us the breakfast complimentary. What I would say is do not use Booking.com to book this hotel. It also said that parking was free which it wasn’t. It’s probably best to call the hotel and check the booking. The parking however was on site and a reasonable £16.70 for 24hrs and the staff were on hand to assist and offer help. The breakfast was a sea view with a buffet and cooked option which again was outstanding. Staff super attentive and friendly for a Sunday morning and go above and beyond to help and chat. Whoever trains the staff on customer service at this hotel is on point! The whole stay was faultless and would 100% stay again, just not through the booking provider. A lovely romantic, enjoyable, entertaining and beautiful night away.

Have returned here several times and ambience is great. Staff are always very obliging and helpful. Good for families and always make a nice touch to be very attentive to children. The food is good quality and good value for money.

Came with friends i ordered the pancakes! The pancakes were delicious, although i could use more syrup! Friends also enjoyed their breakfast and the buffet. Service was great too! Very friendly!

After my fabulous experience on  last year's birthday (see my previous 5 star review) I decided to go back to harbar for this year's birthday. How very different the experience was. We were placed on a table right next to a group of 4 people, when there were other table's available. There was no list for tea choices as you would usually get on an afternoon tea. We were simply asked if we'd like coffee, or tea. My cup was chipped and the water jug stained heavily. (Cup was replaced when I asked) The afternoon tea was nice enough, but sandwiches seemed a bit stale & wrap was soggy. Again just not as good as my last visit. There was no offer of more tea or hot water to top up our teapot. which is surely something that should be offered. At the end of our afternoon tea I could not get anyone's attention so I had to go up to reception to find someone to pay the bill. 3 members of staff were standing at the little pod. I discreetly said to the lady that printed my bill, that I was not happy  to pay the service charge as things were not as good as before & we'd not been offered anymore tea. The lady who took payment went straight over to our waiter and told him! It was highly embarrassing as the atmosphere turned quickly sour. We scurried out feeling very awkward. To do this so obviously whilst the guests are still there is extremely unprofessional. I had paid my £60 bill and had every right to not pay an optional service charge on top of that if I choose!

We came for lunch & drinks. Ordered burger & fries, club sandwich & fries & Mac & cheese side. Burger & fries good. Bacon jam lovely. Club sandwich poor. Mac & cheese ok, primary flavour mustard. We’re divided if we’d recommend eating here! We do recommend ordering their cocktails (on & off menu) - these are very good.

Elina (I believe that was her name) was fantastic. The best bartender that I’ve come across in a long time. So attentive and human! Really made our evening. Thank you!

Terrible experience. The only decent food was the roast. The rest was beyond terrible considering the price. Kitchen staff shouting and cheering (at something? Football) My daughter’s pasta had other food accidentally mixed in. Just awful. I know it’s Morhers Day and standards slip but some tables were empty and plenty of serving staff. Almost £1000 spent on a meal you wouldn’t be happy paying a pub for. Avoid!

Enjoyed a lovely evening meal out with girlfriends. Food delicious and staff v friendly and efficient. Would recommend as a place to go for a special celebration

My sister and I booked for afternoon tea. I am vegetarian and advised of this when booking. I was given a vegan afternoon tea, which deprived me of cream, butter, cheese and eggs all of which I eat and enjoy. I was given vegetable sandwiches and stodgy cake , all of which were very disappointing , not that anyone check to ask if everything was ok. My sister's afternoon tea looked lovely and I could have eaten most of it given the choice.

Just love this place for a catch up with family or friends. The autumn decor has been brilliantly done yet again. Not to mention the partnership with Mermaid Distillery. Afternoon tea is definitely worth booking too.

Visited twice in that, I walked in then straight out again as the music was so loud I could not have an intelligible conversation with anybody, even sitting close to me.

We had an amazing time after the Spa treatment to relax and enjoy the delicious food. The staff were very pleasant.

All three courses were perfect. Extremely well cooked and arrived promptly. The service was some of the best we’ve ever had. Thank you to Alina and all of the staff who made our evening feel so special, we will definitely be returning!

Didn't rate the food at all ,mackerel started was horrible, my sister had soup which came with some kind of rock hard biscuit,we had to ask for pepper and salt this should of been on the table, we were not offered any water,cheese board wasn't enough for two people and the crackers were too hard.

My husband and I visited the harbor for the first time last Saturday evening, and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was impressively quick, with friendly staff. Within 5 minutes of ordering drinks, our food arrived in about 15 minutes. We decided to try their pizza, and it turned out to be one of the best we've had in a long time – a solid 10/10! We also ordered chips and mac and cheese as sides, both delicious choices along side a few different cocktails. Overall, a fantastic experience, and we're definitely planning to come back for more.

We booked in for lunch when visiting our daughter in Southampton. We ordered fish and chips, trout and the duck salad with cashew nuts. We advised the waitress that our daughter has a peanut allergy when taking our order. Our meals arrived and were well presented and tasty, so we all decided to try each other’s. Luckily my daughter didn’t try the duck as when I got to the bottom of the dish I could see that the chef had used peanuts instead cashews, had she had tried it this would have a severe allergic reaction and could be life threatening. Me and my husband would never order anything that contains peanuts when eating with our daughter. The waitress was apologetic but this has left us feeling very shaken about what could have happened and unfortunately won’t return.

I had a business dinner for 14 people and I left rather disappointed. Whilst the view and the atmosphere was nice, the menu selection was very limited and the actual dishes rather average.

Love the stunning location and views from here. we visited yesterday to celebrate our birthdays and was served by Bishny. She went out of her way to do everything she could to make it a very special experience, even though she didn’t know until the end that we were celebrating our birthdays! Our first visit and we cannot fault it. The staff were fantastic, so attentive, nothing was too much trouble and the food was exceptional. Highly recommended and we will be back again.

Well what an awful experience!! We visited this afternoon (2 adults and a toddler) and had two table options, sit on a sofa for lunch in the loud DJ bar or an equally bad table directly next to the toilets. I asked if there were any tables available in the restaurant as we wanted lunch and the Maître d' gave a rude and abrupt response stating that she gave us two options and that was it without even bothering to look me in the eye. Unfortunately we had already ordered drinks and an ice cream for the little one otherwise we would have left immediately. Extremely poor customer service and passed on lunch to eat elsewhere. Service was impeccable and food was great! Will never return to this jumped up overpriced hole!

Terrible service, full of attitude. We ordered drinks for a group of eight. Four came first then the others came out after thirty minute's. Couldn't even have a cheers together. Can be a bit noisy of an evening so if you are after a classy quiet drink the Jetty is best. However the HaBar can be fun.

Ordererd two mains and a side. All three came out luke warm and took longer than the peoples who arrived after us sat near us. Not the waiters fault and he offered us free drinks to compensate so bonus star there. When food came back, it was okish. Nice location for drinks but poor experience in the resturaunt.

We had the afternoon tea. The egg mayo finger sandwich was half filled. Not alot of savoury options and too many sweet options which were mostly chocolate. Next to no cake options except for plain and fruit scones. We took our 2 children aged 7 and 4 and ordered from the children's menu mac and cheese with fries and fish fingers and fries, these were much tastier than the afternoon tea. Very expensive for what it was. 2 x afternoon teas with a glass of champagne, 2 x afternoon teas, 2 x coffees, 1 x lemonade, 1 x orange juice, kids mac and cheese and fries and fish fingers and fries, 4 pints total of £225!! I would've happily of gone to Rancho's and spent less money for better quality of food. I've had much better afternoon tea's elsewhere for a fraction of the cost, I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon.

Had a lovely Tipsy tea afternoon here for 8 people, one who needed disabled access. The setting was lovely and the food didn't disappoint. We ordered pina coladas which were delightful. The place was clean and service was good. It was quite busy. Toilets were nice and hand cream smelt lovely. The sandwiches, wraps and rolls were tasty, and the sweet treats were really creative with a festive twist, really cute chocolates and scones were fresh and warm. We will defiantly be back. Great drinks in the lounge, followed by a great dinner in The Jetty, followed by huge disappointment in the HarBar. The manager, ‘Luca’ was rude, dismissive and uncooperative, seemingly incapable of creative thinking. His poor attitude spoilt what was otherwise a positive experience for our group. Stay away.

The starters were great. The mains were ok. All of the waiters were kind except one had an attitude while serving us. It’s a skinny bald guy without glasses.

Stunning place, very friendly staff, my friend had a nut allergy and our waiter suggested different drinks for her. The Harbar on 6th is an excellent spot for casual drinks coffee breakfast lunch and dinner we highly recommend to anyone visiting Southampton.

Overall the restaurant was very nice and the views were beautiful. However the customer service was not of what you would expect when paying so much for a meal etc. The waitress took a long time to service and the food equally a long time to come out. I wouldn’t go here again.

We had a very nice Friday evening on the 6th Oct, we celebrated one of my colleague leaving do. The food exquisitely presented and tasty, the service wonderful and very attentive service and mocktails highly recommended.Athmosphere vibrant ...music loud ( I guess you do not need to talk or listen ...is not a university or relaxation Spa) All in all wonderful evening, car parked safely in the car park.

For the price I was expecting more, I tried the vegan burger, couldn’t tell what consistency it was supposed to be, was hard in places and soft in others. My partner wasn’t a big fan of the swordfish but that may be personal. I also had a double espresso, seemed more foam then coffee. Staff where lovely and professional. We had a fantastic anniversary meal here: the service was excellent, we recieved our starters only 20 minutes after sitting down, and on a Friday night too! Our server, Thomas, was absolutely brilliant. The food was delicious and what we felt to be well priced, with the atmosphere of the restaurant, excellent service, and so on. The restaurant even surprised us with a special congratulations dessert for our anniversary, which was a lovely touch. Our only qualm was that a DJ set up for an event near the end of our visit, and the music was quite loud- we weren’t warned about this when we booked, however it didn’t affect us too much as we left soon after. Overall, a really positive and enjoyable experience; we’d visit again.

Celebrated my birthday food lovely service good

So so so very loud. Our whole group could only speak to one person at a time and had to shout. Very dark so could hardly read the menu. We left early to go somewhere else so we could actually catch up. Not somewhere to go for a meal to catch up with friends. Should come with a warning. Will not go again.

Went for a vegan afternoon tea. Awful food very underwhelming. Sandwiches very basic, make fancier sandwiches at home. Scones very dry with no vegan cream just jam. The only ok bit were the fancy cakes. Unmatching chipped plates. Glass chipped on cake stand. Very overpriced. Our waitress didn’t seem to want to be there. Not the treat we were expecting. If you want a decent vegan afternoon tea avoid!!!!!

The setting, high above the ocean village marina, is great. The afternoon tea looked spectacular when it was delivered and we struggled to finish it all, feeling quite stuffed when we eventually did. Highly recommended, but if you're drinking still water, get tap water - the bottled stuff tastes the same and isn't even chilled. A ripoff at £4.50 a bottle.

Food good 👍, but really noisy, couldn't have a decent conversation because you couldn't hear yourself think let alone talk. Service brilliant.

Very disappointed, I got placed in the bar area with my girlfriend. It was supposed to be a very special night out, dinner etc. I asked to move several times over the length of an hour and thirty minutes as we were right in the ear shot of the speakers and couldn’t even have a basic discussion without mishearing each other . Considering the prices of the restaurant as well as the generic bar prices of the cocktails , the service was not up to par and totally unacceptable . I would not advise anyone to make a booking here , you’ll only end up disappointed and also out of pocket .

HarBAR is highly recommend for a romantic meal overlooking ocean Village marina. Food / location / setup and atmosphere is hard to beat. Food in the Resturant is recommend and the selection of Drinks makes the entire experience worth it.
