Glut in Oxford

Not a good experience - burgers were small, tasteless, and undercooked with dry buns. The price was also very steep for what we got. Servers seemed like they didn't want to be there and it felt like we were being ushered out. The music was stopped 20 minutes before closing and we were told that they would be closing soon (let the customers finish!) The restaurant lacked in atmosphere and felt empty and unclean (also not keen on the proximity of the toilets to the open kitchen service window). A disappointing meal as we were looking forward to some really tasty food. Best burger joint in Oxford? No chance.

The cheeseburger tasted good but the price was extortionate considering it didn't include a side. The weirdest atmosphere. Instead of napkins they just brought out a half used paper towel roll with my meal? I couldn't wait to finish my food and leave

Overall quite a good experience, quite quiet on a Saturday night where everywhere else was packed. Don’t underestimate how filling is the burger even though they don’t look that big. The Nashville chicken burger was nice but very greasy (dripping in oil). The sauce on the loaded fries were too sweet and it got sicklier the more we ate.

I returned to Glut for a vegan burger and chips, and was shocked to learn that they no longer offer Hells beer. I also learned that the sauce in the plant-based burger I once raved about was not vegan at all. Having tried the proper vegan version, I have to say that it was not as amazing as I had previously experienced. Despite this, the service and atmosphere remain of good quality. If you’re vegetarian, this is a very good place to dine. 2021/2 review: I've been to many vegan-friendly restaurants but Glut has maintained it's number 1 status. The restaurant is artfully decorated with some booths spanning the walls of the interior. The staff are very friendly and efficient. However, the element that makes me coming back is the chef's magic! What is in those vegan burgers? So delicious and satisfying. Plus, the fact that they have Hells craft beer is the cherry...! This is a fantastic vegan-friendly eatery that I recommend.

The food was delicious, exactly what you want a dirty burger to be. The restaurant is weirdly organised, felt unclean and lacked any atmosphere. The service left a lot to be desired.

Went at a lunch time there was 1 other customer in the restaurant. Burger was cold thankfully a vegan burger so avoided food poisoning, chips were drowned in garlic.

Popped in for a meal last Friday. One of the best veggie burgers I've ever had. Staff were friendly and attentive all evening, and super efficient even though the restaurant got quite busy. The loaded fries are horribly decadent and rich, but worth every penny spent.

Overall an ok experience, they perhaps should wrap their veggie/vegan burgers in alternative packaging or place this on a separate tray? I was handed a beef burger and my friend a veggie burger (of course being told the beef was the veggie burger and vice versus), fortunately one bite and I was able to confirm the wrong order and swapped with my friend but other people with dietary requirements might not be so happy to do this.

Hands down the best burger spot in the city. Big shout out to Finlay and Heather for their professionalism and their elite hospitality. Y'all earned a promotion. Everytime I visit glut I would be incredibly satisfied whether its from the staff service or the food itself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We popped here before a show in Oxford it's our 2nd time here and the food was great. The service was a little slow even though it wasn't busy but in the staffs defence there were only 2 at the front of house. Most importantly the food was very enjoyable

Great burgers, although a little messy at times! I can’t remember but suggest the chicken burger is tossed in the buffalo sauce for full coverage and then a bit more added on top to serve. Fries are great but would benefit from a little seasoning or just some salt! Overall though great place, would return.

All the atmosphere of a Luton youth club or a Milton Keynes underpass on one of it's sadder days. Gopping filthy bathrooms, properly rancid. I was upset that the soles of my shoes were touching the floor let alone my lovely hands touched the taps. First waiter panicked and ran away half way through order. Totally startled. Realised he couldn't speak, or understand any burger related words. Next feller did better but I had to chase items up that were forgotten which should have been on the table within moments of arrival. They serve same burgers that everywhere else has realised you can make comedy margins over, but with extra oil, it's ok, I ate it up like a big healthy boy but there are better examples of the same thing on the same street for less. Please don't go or we'll get more of this tired crud opening up.

Absolutely fantastic burger and some of the best loaded fries I’ve ever had. We visited as a party of 5 for a birthday burger and beers. Service was friendly and they were happy to cater to some menu changes for one of our group. Food arrived fast and was full of flavour, the Fries being crisp and well cooked. The only minor negative was no beer on draft, only bottles. That being said we’ll be back again to try more of the menu.

Warning! Do not enter this premise! ⚠️ I usually don’t care if the food is overpriced, I am a millionaire (very rich). But the food was so bad, so murderously bad, that for the first time in my life I am leaving a review. The burgers were small, able to fit in the palm of a small child, no older than 4. The buns were uncooked, bland, and clearly from the Tesco’s across the street. The meat patty crumbled at the slightest force, was severely under seasoned, so much so it leads one to believe the cow it came from was malnourished and perhaps abused. The burger ingredients stated in the menu were absent from the burger, or at least it seemed so with their little impact to flavour or texture. The Korean BBQ sauce we ordered with the chicken wings had no profile other than its piercing pungency. My comrade, in fact, decided dipping the wings in cold water (photo attached), and eat a wet, soggy wing, was a more enjoyable experience. Needless to say, this place is a circus. HONK HONK 🤡!!

Reserved a table in advance, got in, and sat for 35 minutes without being attended, terrible service don’t recommend. 5 tables came in after us, all got attended and several got their food

Went in a rush before taking my bus. Found lovely staff who took my order as a priority. Been very nice chatting to the guy at the counter whilst waiting. The falafel burger is banging.

Incredible buttermilk chicken! Everything we had was excellent! This place really surprised us with the authenticity of the American style food.

Pretty average, expected better quality food for the price paid. Burgers aren't as big / full of meat as advertised (chicken is just a thin slice effectively).

Stumbled across this place randomly and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The service could have been a bit better. Felt like front of house could have been a little friendlier, but other than that, no complaints.

Unfortunately the service was twice longer than what was said. Although the burger was good, the fries and cookie dough had nothing exceptional except the exceptionnally high price that I paid overall. Also it didn't really look open from the outside if you are not looking for the festaurant: the lights in front of the restaurant were quite dark.

We had burgers today at Glut. The burgers were good, however some burgers were a bit cold. Burgers aside, the atmosphere was cold & lacking in energy however. Staffing was limited but then things were as efficient as hell. Overall we had burgers today & enjoyed them burgers.

We went to glut there was two other tables and we were a table of 9. Firstly there was no children's options and no child friendly cups. We ordered our food and waited around 30 minutes for it to come out which would have been fine had it all come out together. We were not offered glasses with our glass bottle drinks. Anybody who has ever attempted to drink coke through a straw particularly diet knows it does not work. Because we had ordered for a 3 year old and asked for it all together - everybody else's food came out around 20 minutes before the 3 year olds food which meant his mum had to take him for a walk as he was upset everybody was eating but him and she didn't get to eat her own food as she was walking him. Meanwhile I bite into my burger and it is raw 🤮. The waitress which was the only positive about this visit apologised and took the burger back and said they would make a new one asap. Understandably I did not feel like eating another burger after eating raw chicken. Another guest had ordered cauliflower wings which took around 20 minutes to come out after her main. Unfortunately this waitress was by herself and had no authority to properly comp for such a terrible experience. Two days later and my stomach still is not right. She called the manager who did not answer his phone and therefore was only able to comp the burger and 10% which from working in restaurants is a standard discount for students etc not a "sorry you have eaten raw meat and feel ill". This was my last day in Oxford and although we were offered to wait for the managers return we were unable to do this as we were tight for time as we had a plane to catch. If you have staff on the till with no authority to comp you 100% have to be answering your phone all the time-leaving a staff member on the till who has only worked there for two weeks on her own is a bit unfair.

I thought this would be the best burger place in Oxford based on review score. That is one reason I scored it low. I think the 4.4 score is higher than it deserves. Just go to Five Guys. Much better burgers and fries.

Sinful fries I ordered were just too saucy, I couldnt enjoy it. Too salty and too much going on, felt like I was just eating spoonfulls of sauce. Usually there is a good balance but yesterday wasn't even tasting right.

the food is really good, but the menu is very small, or they don't have everything available, but again, still good food, the service is nice and friendly, and the atmosphere is alright, its nothing eyecatching, and from the outside it's hard to see the restaurant unless its dark and the lights are glowing.

Location and staff are good and the burgers are tasty! Burgers are small and I was still hungry afterwards and went to another place. I'd expect significantly larger burgers given the price you've to pay! Recommendation: nope, go to another burger restaurant, there is plenty of choice in Oxford.

After reading previous reviews we decided to give this place a try after having a rather disappointing burger the night before at another venue, we had dirty chicken burger, chicken burger, sinful fries, wings and poppers, it was all cooked spot on and very tasty, will definitely eat here again

Get in ma GLUT! Excellent quality burger joint in Oxford but a bit sore for your wallet! Taste: 5/5 Taste was excellent, its exactly the quality of food you would expect. Nice crunchy chicken wings, i had Korean bbq sauce which was great. The buttermilk burger was also great, a nice sized fillet with great crunch. The burger did lack taste on the gherkin, either wasn't the freshest or had been left out of its brine! Atmosphere: 3/5 Its a nice space, but low lighting and dark ceiling gives it more of a bar vibe. People walking past could be easily mistaken. Perhaps an LeD burger icon in the window might be an obvious enough sign. It was quiet, music wasn't playing when i arrived at 14:15pm but did come on. The place is empty, which is surprising as the food is great. Maybe a re-design of the layout could help hide open and empty spaces which might deter people coming in. The bathroom was dirty, seems to have not been "cleaned" in a while with dirt stained tiles. Takes 10 minutes to spray and wipe down the tiles with a scourer. Food was left on collection side when restaurant was empty. KP was slacking! Value for money: 2.5/5 The menu has increased over 30% in price since 2020 for most items. £11.50 for a burger, without chips is already high end for this style restaurant. £4 for fries is also a lot to pay. Plain fries...£4...£3.50 tops. It was 5 wings for £7.50 which again for that price would expect 8 wings. Its over £1 a wing which although they taste great is expensive. £23 for a burger meal with a side of wings and water for drink is too expensive which might be why its empty and some reviews mention that! I asked the waitress, and there is no special menu. No combo chicken and beef (but there is £3.50 to add another patty) I would expect a lunch time menu would go down a hit from 12:00pm-16:00pm for example Burger, fries and a drink £15 Its reasonable and you would expect plenty of return customers at that price. Buy 2 burgers get any side/desert £5 for friends eating together Include fries in burger options for £2.50 extra. Not £4 for fries. Dirty fries is where you add cost. Overall: 3.5/5 Ive rated 4 as the food is good, and is worth of 4 stars. There is some house keeping improvements needed and a review of the menu pricing/lunch time menus. For the price, I wouldn't return in a hurry. I can't justify £23 for a single persons meal I would have been happy to pay between £17.50-£20 for what i ordered. £23 made me feel its too expensive and unreasonable.

Great burger, but maybe a bit overpriced. Weird vibes as it's a big, dark place usually without many people in there, so can feel a bit empty. Too many chips for one person, only get the one side if you're sharing.

Great cheeseburger with fresh veggies (think in & out-isque)! Buttermilk chicken burger was alright—we expected more batter and bite. Maybe that was not what they were going for. Fries (not chips here) were normal, with acceptable crispity crunch. All in all, a decent burger place in Oxford that is worth a visit. Try it and find out on your own, since taste is subjective anyways.

THE BEST cauliflower wings I've ever tried. Friendly service from John. Nice relaxed atmosphere to bring friends along to. Vegetarian options can be made vegan, just make sure to ask.

The food was incredible. 10/10. The thing that let's Glut down is the service. The person who took our order was fine. They gave us a decent amount of time to look through the menu and they were pleasant. We never saw them again after that. We waited probably 40 minutes for our food. No one came over to check if we wanted any other drinks at any point. No one also cleaned our table when we were done. After waiting 20 minutes, I had to go to the bar to ask for our bill. The attitude of the people at the bar was awful. The two that were up there acted like I was an inconvenience when I asked for the bill and when I had to go up to pay as no one came to the table to take payment. This was my first visit and will likely be my last unless the staff change their attitude.

Best burger we have had in years

Check the reviews and 4.8. So headed to this burger place. After a month on diet and no alcohol today was a reward for losing 10kg. Order 2 burgers and fries and asked for beer on Tap. So waiter told us they just ran out. So Order 2 bottles and a min later told he had only 1. At this point we should have left. Burgers arrived. They were small and the fries where over cooked and oily. Bear in mind we waited over 20 min. Review of burger 🍔. Very small. The cheese was not melted and all I could taste was bacon. Which the burger didn't have. Worst burger I have had. And the price was £11.50. Rate this a 2 stars. Very disappointing. Fries 🍟 So over cooked 🍳 and oily. Not hand cut and left them. Result 1 star rating. Waiter didn't ask as he could see we left our meal. We then went to Wendy for a real burger and chips . Fast service and half the price. Be warned.

The food that we got was great, but half the order was forgotten and service staff were very passive/uncaring about it. The attentiveness of the staff in general was quite poor.

The food was really good, I had the hamburger and it was delicious. The service in the other hand really wasn’t great. They forgot our starters, we never got it, and it was understaffed for the number of people.

This establishment was almost empty on a Saturday evening and now I see why. The dirty chicken sandwich was overcooked and the chicken bites were 90% bread 10% chicken. Don’t waste your time.

Had a fairly good dining experience here. The Sinful Fries were great and good to share, and the milkshake was huge (pretty sure it could have replaced an entire meal by itself). The burger itself was merely okay but nothing too special. Given that I mainly came for the burger, combined with the comparatively high prices, I’m giving a 3.5/5 overall.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday after reading some of the recent reviews on here, it did not disappoint. Easily one of the best beef burgers I've ever had, excellent fresh ingredients, juicy beef patty, lots of burger sauce, spot on! We also had a few side dishes and they were also very good. I felt the cost of each item was very reasonable in relation to how good the food was. I'd highly recommend this place for any burger lovers, both chicken and beef 👍 10/10

Burgers are okay like a 3.5/5. Not the best I had for sure. Fries aren’t freshly made. I recommend it for a quick burger but not for a proper meal with you family like I did.

We found out about Glut after our visit to the Oxford museum nearby. We were craving something sinful and this place seemed to have what we were looking for. When we got there, the place was a bit empty but that was because we arrived during off peak time. The server was very attentive and told us that we can use the QR code to look at the menu. The menu does not have a lot of options to the point where it was overwhelming, they offer just the right amount of options. This is good because restaurants that offer way too many options tend to not be good and any of them. We ordered three items: Sinful fries, a plant burger, and a cheeseburger. All three arrived within a reasonable amount of time. I would say that all of the food that we received was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody and we would definitely return next time we're in the area.

Ordered at 18:00 - 2 beers and burgers with sides. Received the beers at 19:35. Initially asked if they can make a cocktail and the lady there said they’re out of cocktails. The bottles are in the bar and other people had cocktails. That’s because I asked about a cocktail she didn’t know how to make. She could have said so though. Food came about 10 minutes later and it wasn’t impressive. The place is very very cold. No heat on. I ate with two coats on me. Horrible service and environment. Will not come back again
