Great little find for burgers.... Definitely worth a visit

Good food. Slightly strange atmosphere. Good place to go with your mates but not a first date.

I had the dirty cheese burger, and it was one of the best burgers I've eaten in a long time. Will definitely be back.

Food was good, but the service was terrible. Bought water over without any cups, didn't ask if we wanted any drinks - we had to ask a few times despite the restaurant being empty. The waiter didn't seem to have a clue what gluten free meant (I'm celiac) which didn't give me any confidence, in the end I went and asked the chef directly.

Dirty, broken toilets - let the restaurant down. Lots of dirty plates piled high in the hatch. Couple of ordering issues but quickly resolved by staff who were helpful & friendly.

Very few gluten-free & vegan options. Also the toilets are horrible. But the staff is very nice!

It hit the spot I was away in Oxford on my own for work this week, and looking for a place for some food. Having read a good few reviews, good and bad, I decided to give this place a try. I'll be honest, the lack of recent reviews on here and Google made me wonder if the restaurant was still open, I walked past a couple of closed down venues, but found Glut to still be open. When I arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty, and I was seated really quickly by the waitress. She was really keen to take my order, and I hadn't quite decided what I was having, so I asked her to come back. The apple juice arrived very quickly. When she came back, I ordered the dirty chicken burger, some fried pickles and an apple juice. They only had diet drinks in stock despite the menu offering the good stuff. Whilst waiting for my meal to arrive, a huge party arrived, they filled up the large table in the middle of the restaurant, and they kept arriving. After a bit, one of the staff members politely asked if I would move, as the group was huge. Of course I moved: they asked politely, and the group wanted to sit together, whereas I was on my own. Not a problem. My meal arrived as 2 separate parts. The burger first and then the frickles. This is not a complaint, simply an observation. The burger was absolutely spot on. Really tasty, not dry, the sauces were good, the bread was soft enough, but not too soft. I may have accidentally ordered an extra blue cheese sauce... Overall a fantastic burger. The frickles were super tasty too, and came with another pot of blue cheese sauce, really tasty again. They were sliced lengthways, so not tiny little pucks, rather, just the right size. The meal was a little messy, and the kitchen towels on the table came in handy, and I nipped to the toilet to wash my hands, the ladies toilet was closed, but the accessible toilet appeared clean and had plenty of soap and warm water. The wait to pay took a while, but the restaurant was super busy by this point, so completely understandable. I paid £20 all in, which I was really happy with. I feel like I got good value for money. Definitely recommend and would go back!

Dirty shop, salad looks like my rabbit's food, order taken incorrectly, waiter overwhelmed and confused. I received the fries an hour late after asking 3 times. Portions very small for the price.

Embers in Oxford was a disaster. Over an hour wait for tiny, tasteless burgers. The service was absolutely incompetent, no apology, nothing. A total disappointment – ​​not recommended!

Bit of an odd place really. Looked closed from the outside, not much if a vibe inside. Dirty fries were excellent but the burgers too thick and dry for my taste. Reasonably priced cocktails

I went to GLUT on a Monday lunchtime for a burger before leaving Oxford. I wanted to visit an independent burger restaurant rather than one of the many chains that feature in every town and was not disappointed by my experience today at GLUT. The staff were very attentive and immediately brought me a bottle of water and a glass as soon as I sat down. The burger was freshly cooked to order and was definitely worth the wait as I can say that it was one of the best burgers I've had. It was a shame that there weren't more people there, as the burgers are fantastic. As a result, the atmosphere was a little dead, but that's perhaps to be expected on a Monday lunchtime.

Food itself was nice, good quality burger. The slaw was just cabbage and sweetcorn with some mayo, which was advertised correctly, but a bit underwhelming. Service was quite poor. Despite being open, the staff were late and we therefore could not order. Servers clearly didn’t care about providing a friendly service, and when asking for things I felt like a burden, and annoying to them. Other tables had orders come out incorrect multiple times.

Good burgers, the bun was a little too cold, but the classic burger has a nice buttermilk kick to it. Very filling, although it looks small, fries portions are generous and tasty in my opinion. You might have some fries left over to take to go.

Don't be off-put by the present lack of customers; this place is good! I highly recommend the dirty cheese burger 😋 reasonably priced with excellent service. Will be returning. My friend concurred, remaking "it's on the higher end of what Oxford has to offer". I will note, the atmosphere is a little off putting.

My friend was concerned that the food wouldn't be good as there were so few people in the place when we arrived at about 2pm. I explained that this was post lunch and pre tea. We both had dirty burgers (mine plant and her chicken) and shared sides. We each had a cocktail too. Fab all round and very tasty 😋

Lovely decor and staff, really friendly service, food is really top tier on their burgers, I really enjoyed the fries as well the only thing I would say is that the fries were a little too heavy with the sauce, gets a bit sickly after a while of eating as they get more and more saturated, otherwise the flavour is amazing and quality of chicken is great

We have had a disastrous experience in this restaurant. The food was good but when it came to paying they cheated us by charging money and an overburger just because we were foreigners and didn't control the language We are disappointed that a 4-star restaurant defes people for their own benefit without thinking about its customers

It’s sad but they really don’t understand that a burger place in theUK cannot exist without beer on draught. There’s a reason they have two customers on a Thursday evening.

Pleasantly different experience from the rest of the burger places in the centre

The food is amazing! Delicious flavor and very large size. I tried the Nashville Chicken and the Sinful Fries and both things seemed out of this world. It can be a little expensive as it doesn't have food.

First timer! GLUT was a fun experience, the food was prepared freshly and was served hot. We did wait a fair while for the food to come but dove straight in and quickly forgot about the wait. Nice and relaxed place to come and grab a quick burger and fries.

We are American and have been in the UK for a week. This has been the best “American” style foods we’ve had. The fried chicken is juicy yet nice and crispy. If you want good fried chicken and loaded fries, go to Glut!!

Amazing Chicken Burgers and Sinful Fries! Glut restaurant has been our go-to for office lunches, and we used to order from them almost every day through Uber Eats. Their chicken burgers are phenomenal – juicy, flavorful, and consistently delicious. And don't get me started on their sinful fries; they are simply irresistible! As Uber members, we enjoyed the discounts, making it easy for us to indulge in our favorite meals regularly. Unfortunately, we noticed that Glut is no longer available on Uber Eats, and we miss those fantastic burgers and fries dearly. We hope the restaurant considers coming back to Uber Eats, as it was a highlight of our workdays and a staple in our office dining routine. Thank you, Glut, for your amazing food and excellent service. We hope to see you on Uber Eats again soon!

Disappointed!!!! We visited yesterday, lunch time after looking forward to a childfree meal. We were the only people there on a Saturday in the centre of oxford, this should have been a big red flag. It was extremely quiet as were the staff, very awkward. The food..... we had a burger each which was well done and dry, the menu states "we serve our burgers medium", we took 2 bites each and left them. I tried the sinful fries which were lovely but I only had 2 pieces of chicken on them, so not really worth it. My partner said the Korean wings were amazing but overall it was a waste of £50 and I wish we would have visited Nandos next door. Recent reviews look a lot better than my experience so maybe it was an off day but not what we wanted or expected.

Excellent chicken burger - the best I’ve ever had. Really fresh tasting, and cooked to perfection, in a nice bun. Good chips. My partner had a gluten free beef burger - and rated it the best as well, including the gluten free roll. I liked the way the food was presented, in an envelope to hold as you eat it. Giving you a tissue roll for each table is inspired. The waiter was an absolute delight - friendly and helpful in an understated way. However, I found the decor very off putting. Only visited because I’d seen good reviews - and even then I nearly wouldn’t go in because it looked so shabby and atmospherically cold. I’m in my 60s, maybe it would appeal to those who are younger??

One of the best sinful burgers and chips you can ask for.

This was one of the worse experiences I have had. Ordered an espresso martini to be told they didn’t have coffee and the manager doesn’t care. Ordered another cocktail to be told they didn’t have everything to make it. Asked for a Prosecco and was told they are out. Ordered a sprite and got a diet only option I gave up in the end. Food came out cold and toilets were broken. I will not attend again

VEGETARIANS BE CAREFUL- I would love to give this place a shining review as I really like to support independent places in Oxford owned by locals. I will say I've been three times and the burgers are good. Less overpriced than other places in the vicinity and we've never waited very long. We went last Saturday (27/4/24)- I ordered a gluten free burger and the server was quite careful in explaining about potential cross contamination and the sesame seeds in the buns. However, my partner ordered a vegan burger and they brought him a MEAT burger! He realised after one bite and asked a second server, who said he 'thought it was veggie but would double check'. Then we heard nothing until the original server brought him a veggie burger with no apology. She made some comments about how the veggie burger is 'very realistic'- we failed to see the relevance of this because we both saw and confirmed that his first burger was NOT a veggie burger. He asked how this occurred and she said she 'didn't know what had happened' and then gave a brief apology. We didn't see her for the rest of our visit but the second server brought us our bill- I said we weren't happy to pay for the veggie burger and he took it off the bill. Everything else was fine but I would advise vegetarians to triple check their orders!

Really tasty burgers - we tried across the range of beef and chicken burgers and enjoyed them all (great buns too!). Fries were tasty and well seasoned. Great choice in Oxford for anyone in search of a quality burger!!!

Over priced, over hyped. You would expect a decent sized Burger for £14 but it's smaller than a Big Mac, it's also dry and salty. Service is so slow as you could starve to death, "well done" chips were cold and chewy.Would not go back if you paid me - cannot understand how they get such high ratings, other eating venues in Oxford must be truly dire.

Not a good experience - burgers were small, tasteless, and undercooked with dry buns. The price was also very steep for what we got. Servers seemed like they didn't want to be there and it felt like we were being ushered out. The music was stopped 20 minutes before closing and we were told that they would be closing soon (let the customers finish!) The restaurant lacked in atmosphere and felt empty and unclean (also not keen on the proximity of the toilets to the open kitchen service window). A disappointing meal as we were looking forward to some really tasty food. Best burger joint in Oxford? No chance.

Overall quite a good experience, quite quiet on a Saturday night where everywhere else was packed. Don’t underestimate how filling is the burger even though they don’t look that big. The Nashville chicken burger was nice but very greasy (dripping in oil). The sauce on the loaded fries were too sweet and it got sicklier the more we ate.

I returned to Glut for a vegan burger and chips, and was shocked to learn that they no longer offer Hells beer. I also learned that the sauce in the plant-based burger I once raved about was not vegan at all. Having tried the proper vegan version, I have to say that it was not as amazing as I had previously experienced. Despite this, the service and atmosphere remain of good quality. If you’re vegetarian, this is a very good place to dine. 2021/2 review: I've been to many vegan-friendly restaurants but Glut has maintained it's number 1 status. The restaurant is artfully decorated with some booths spanning the walls of the interior. The staff are very friendly and efficient. However, the element that makes me coming back is the chef's magic! What is in those vegan burgers? So delicious and satisfying. Plus, the fact that they have Hells craft beer is the cherry...! This is a fantastic vegan-friendly eatery that I recommend.

The food was delicious, exactly what you want a dirty burger to be. The restaurant is weirdly organised, felt unclean and lacked any atmosphere. The service left a lot to be desired.

Popped in for a meal last Friday. One of the best veggie burgers I've ever had. Staff were friendly and attentive all evening, and super efficient even though the restaurant got quite busy. The loaded fries are horribly decadent and rich, but worth every penny spent.

Went at a lunch time there was 1 other customer in the restaurant. Burger was cold thankfully a vegan burger so avoided food poisoning, chips were drowned in garlic.

Overall an ok experience, they perhaps should wrap their veggie/vegan burgers in alternative packaging or place this on a separate tray? I was handed a beef burger and my friend a veggie burger (of course being told the beef was the veggie burger and vice versus), fortunately one bite and I was able to confirm the wrong order and swapped with my friend but other people with dietary requirements might not be so happy to do this.

Hands down the best burger spot in the city. Big shout out to Finlay and Heather for their professionalism and their elite hospitality. Y'all earned a promotion. Everytime I visit glut I would be incredibly satisfied whether its from the staff service or the food itself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We popped here before a show in Oxford it's our 2nd time here and the food was great. The service was a little slow even though it wasn't busy but in the staffs defence there were only 2 at the front of house. Most importantly the food was very enjoyable

Great burgers, although a little messy at times! I can’t remember but suggest the chicken burger is tossed in the buffalo sauce for full coverage and then a bit more added on top to serve. Fries are great but would benefit from a little seasoning or just some salt! Overall though great place, would return.

All the atmosphere of a Luton youth club or a Milton Keynes underpass on one of it's sadder days. Gopping filthy bathrooms, properly rancid. I was upset that the soles of my shoes were touching the floor let alone my lovely hands touched the taps. First waiter panicked and ran away half way through order. Totally startled. Realised he couldn't speak, or understand any burger related words. Next feller did better but I had to chase items up that were forgotten which should have been on the table within moments of arrival. They serve same burgers that everywhere else has realised you can make comedy margins over, but with extra oil, it's ok, I ate it up like a big healthy boy but there are better examples of the same thing on the same street for less. Please don't go or we'll get more of this tired crud opening up.

Absolutely fantastic burger and some of the best loaded fries I’ve ever had. We visited as a party of 5 for a birthday burger and beers. Service was friendly and they were happy to cater to some menu changes for one of our group. Food arrived fast and was full of flavour, the Fries being crisp and well cooked. The only minor negative was no beer on draft, only bottles. That being said we’ll be back again to try more of the menu.

Warning! Do not enter this premise! ⚠️ I usually don’t care if the food is overpriced, I am a millionaire (very rich). But the food was so bad, so murderously bad, that for the first time in my life I am leaving a review. The burgers were small, able to fit in the palm of a small child, no older than 4. The buns were uncooked, bland, and clearly from the Tesco’s across the street. The meat patty crumbled at the slightest force, was severely under seasoned, so much so it leads one to believe the cow it came from was malnourished and perhaps abused. The burger ingredients stated in the menu were absent from the burger, or at least it seemed so with their little impact to flavour or texture. The Korean BBQ sauce we ordered with the chicken wings had no profile other than its piercing pungency. My comrade, in fact, decided dipping the wings in cold water (photo attached), and eat a wet, soggy wing, was a more enjoyable experience. Needless to say, this place is a circus. HONK HONK 🤡!!

Reserved a table in advance, got in, and sat for 35 minutes without being attended, terrible service don’t recommend. 5 tables came in after us, all got attended and several got their food

Went in a rush before taking my bus. Found lovely staff who took my order as a priority. Been very nice chatting to the guy at the counter whilst waiting. The falafel burger is banging.

Unfortunately the service was twice longer than what was said. Although the burger was good, the fries and cookie dough had nothing exceptional except the exceptionnally high price that I paid overall. Also it didn't really look open from the outside if you are not looking for the festaurant: the lights in front of the restaurant were quite dark.

We had burgers today at Glut. The burgers were good, however some burgers were a bit cold. Burgers aside, the atmosphere was cold & lacking in energy however. Staffing was limited but then things were as efficient as hell. Overall we had burgers today & enjoyed them burgers.

We went to glut there was two other tables and we were a table of 9. Firstly there was no children's options and no child friendly cups. We ordered our food and waited around 30 minutes for it to come out which would have been fine had it all come out together. We were not offered glasses with our glass bottle drinks. Anybody who has ever attempted to drink coke through a straw particularly diet knows it does not work. Because we had ordered for a 3 year old and asked for it all together - everybody else's food came out around 20 minutes before the 3 year olds food which meant his mum had to take him for a walk as he was upset everybody was eating but him and she didn't get to eat her own food as she was walking him. Meanwhile I bite into my burger and it is raw 🤮. The waitress which was the only positive about this visit apologised and took the burger back and said they would make a new one asap. Understandably I did not feel like eating another burger after eating raw chicken. Another guest had ordered cauliflower wings which took around 20 minutes to come out after her main. Unfortunately this waitress was by herself and had no authority to properly comp for such a terrible experience. Two days later and my stomach still is not right. She called the manager who did not answer his phone and therefore was only able to comp the burger and 10% which from working in restaurants is a standard discount for students etc not a "sorry you have eaten raw meat and feel ill". This was my last day in Oxford and although we were offered to wait for the managers return we were unable to do this as we were tight for time as we had a plane to catch. If you have staff on the till with no authority to comp you 100% have to be answering your phone all the time-leaving a staff member on the till who has only worked there for two weeks on her own is a bit unfair.

I thought this would be the best burger place in Oxford based on review score. That is one reason I scored it low. I think the 4.4 score is higher than it deserves. Just go to Five Guys. Much better burgers and fries.

Sinful fries I ordered were just too saucy, I couldnt enjoy it. Too salty and too much going on, felt like I was just eating spoonfulls of sauce. Usually there is a good balance but yesterday wasn't even tasting right.

the food is really good, but the menu is very small, or they don't have everything available, but again, still good food, the service is nice and friendly, and the atmosphere is alright, its nothing eyecatching, and from the outside it's hard to see the restaurant unless its dark and the lights are glowing.

Tasty, quality burger but they don't have a fries and drink menu, so it's expensive compared to other burger chains. Very good food, but I would suggest that they make a menu so that the place would be more competitive in price.

Location and staff are good and the burgers are tasty! Burgers are small and I was still hungry afterwards and went to another place. I'd expect significantly larger burgers given the price you've to pay! Recommendation: nope, go to another burger restaurant, there is plenty of choice in Oxford.

The burger has got to be the best burger I've ever had and I've had some burgers. I think it was the Nashville although this was a while ago. I hope one day I can go back.
