Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Sevenoaks

Time to update the review on this place again, we went in for the 'Sunday Roast' offer - chicken, lamb and ribeye with Yorkshire puddings, camembert mash, crispy potatoes and veg, with unlimited gravy. Everything was spot on, gravy was delicious, meats all cooked to perfection, no complaints whatsoever. As always, Ricardo and Monika looked after us fabulously well - they really welcome us every time we go and make it just that little bit 'extra' special. Highly recommended.

We recently had family visiting from overseas and wanted to take them for a nice steak dinner. Since our usual Miller & Carter (Maidstone) was fully booked, we tried the Sevenoaks branch. Unfamiliar with the area, we arrived late after struggling to find the location. Upon arrival, we were told our table had been given away due to the delay. When we asked how long it would take to get another table, the staff showed no care, offering no helpful information, despite us having a baby. They simply said, "We sent a text, you can wait at the bar if you want until a table becomes available'' Left with no choice, we had to find another restaurant late at night, with a hungry baby and family. We ended up going to another Miller & Carter branch who were happy to accomodate us without fuss. Later, the restaurant claimed multiple staff had offered us a bar seat and a soon-available table, but that’s not accurate. When we asked for an ETA on an available table, the staff member said he couldn't provide one, which is absurd since they should know which tables are finishing. Had they given us a reasonable estimate, we likely would have waited. Instead, we left because we felt unwelcome and unsure if we’d be seated. The restaurant’s response shifting blame only confirms our decision not to return. We were simply looking for a pleasant meal, which we didn’t get.

We had family visiting from New Zealand and Australia, and we wanted to treat them to a special steak dinner, so we booked a table at Miller & Carter Sevenoaks, as our local branch was fully booked. This was our first time driving to Sevenoaks, and being new to Kent, we had some trouble finding the restaurant, which caused us to arrive late. When we finally arrived, we were met by an incredibly rude and dismissive staff member. He informed us that our table had been given away due to our lateness, and when we tried to ask how long the wait for another table might be, he couldn’t offer any indication. Despite our efforts to explain that we had a 3-month-old baby with us and needed to plan around her feeding and changing times, he was completely indifferent. His attitude was arrogant and dismissive, making it clear that he had no interest in accommodating us or showing any basic customer service skills. Instead, he simply told us, “It’s your choice whether to stay or leave.” We were left embarrassed and frustrated, especially as we had guests from halfway across the world, eager to enjoy a nice meal. To make matters worse, we had to scramble to find an alternative restaurant at 7 p.m. with our baby’s feeding window fast approaching and our guests hungry. The lack of empathy or flexibility from Miller & Carter was astonishing, especially considering that delays are sometimes unavoidable. This experience has left such a bad taste that I can’t imagine ever returning or recommending the restaurant to others. A little understanding and customer care could have gone a long way, but instead, we were left feeling unvalued and humiliated in front of our family. Miller & Carter need to reconsider their approach if they hope to retain customers - especially those who have traveled so far to enjoy a special evening. It’s clear from the response from Miller & Carter that someone is not being entirely truthful, likely in an attempt to cover for themselves. No other staff were nearby during the conversation, so the mention of multiple witnesses is questionable at best. We did receive the text stating that our table would be held for 20 minutes, and we arrived as quickly as possible after having trouble locating the restaurant. However, when we arrived, the staff member in question did not mention anything about having us wait in the bar or offer any solution. Instead, we were told bluntly that our table was gone, and no estimate was provided for how long we would need to wait for another. The dismissive attitude and lack of customer service were the most striking parts of the exchange. It’s concerning that the restaurant’s response implies we left of our own accord without waiting, which is completely untrue. We left because we felt unwelcomed and had no confidence that we would be seated in a reasonable time. There was no communication offering any reassurance or effort to accommodate us, despite the fact that we had a baby with us and had made our situation clear. It’s disappointing to see the restaurant trying to shift the blame, rather than acknowledging the genuine issue with how we were treated. We have no reason to misrepresent what happened, and unfortunately, this poor handling of our situation further reinforces our decision not to return.

Always a good experience, does what it says on the tin. Really busy and buzzy at weekends, service is fast and attentive.

Ordered 12oz sirloin medium which is what I always get. Was really rare, just couldn’t eat it. Waitress agreed wasn’t medium so I sent it back. Ended up eating my meal when everyone else had finished. This restaurant is meant to specialise in steaks. I know some people love moaning but I rarely do. Put me off going back. I have noticed another review near mine complaining of raw steak so same issue as mine. They have replied to my review below with no apology but they say they want to learn more so it won’t happen again. I provided enough information I believe so if you need to learn more I would start in the kitchen

Fantastic as always. Great food, great quality and cooked to perfection. Server was attentive without being a nuisance and was on hand when required without hovering anticipating our needs at the right time. A real pro. Thursday night starts tge 3 course meal for under £35 each. What a lovely midweek treat.

Seems miller and carter have a dress code for entry but not a behavior code. Ruined the meal. Would be great if the resteraunt had an `adults only' area, particularly given he mezzanine structure of Sevenoaks to avoid this issue.

I like coming here every so often. Not the cheapest place to eat out but it is steak! I really enjoyed the orange bomb dessert that I'd never had before, besides getting it all over new trousers, whoops...

The restaurant was busy with not enough staff. We felt a bit rushed and unsettled to start but as the restaurant quietened down our server really was good. The food wasn't anything special but we all finished our meals.

Virtually empty. Saver lunch menu was ok value Food was satisfactory Zero atmosphere on a sunny Saturday afternoon ..but realise that's a culture change pubs used to be heaving on a sunny Satùrday with a garden.

Place is tired looking. Stairs carpet worn and bald. Toilet seat broken. Ordered a g&t, asked for small amount of tonic. Drink arrived like a fishbowl full of tonic and ice. Couldn't taste gin at all. Ordered a dirty burger and fries. Burger was swimming in bbq sauce so that's all you could taste. Some fries were cooked golden others burnt so suspect they came from 2 different cooking batches. Wouldn't return.

Over the years the menu choice has reduced considerably. Each time I have attended something has been taken off. A couple of dishes had been removed this time. There needs to be more selection. It shouldn’t just be all about burgers and steaks

Had a wonderful meal tonight. The food and setting were both excellent but what really made the evening so enjoyable was the wonderful service. We were served by Ricardo who was so helpful and friendly. Nothing we asked for was too much trouble and he had an excellent balance of attentiveness and space. All the other staff seemed very good too. A well led team of first rate staff, serving high quality food. Well done Miller & Carter Sevenoaks.

Such a lovely restaurant, certainly did not disappoint, from friends recommendations. We had a most excellent waiter, who was so 'on the ball' dealing with our party of 6 adults and 2 restless children! Yes, certainly go again. Yes it is expensive, but Yes, certainly worth it!!

Visited with my family on a Friday night. We booked ahead but there were a few tables (we were eating a little earlier!). The restaurant is lovely inside with a nice atmosphere. They have a good selection with steaks at different price ranges and a lot of alternatives if you don't fancy a steak. Everything we got was amazing, perfectly cooked and delicious. My husband and I shared the steak platter which came with a sirloin, rib eye, 2 fillet steaks, bone marrow and all of the sides - it was a HUGE feed and very good value for money. I'd probably get something smaller next time though! Everyone was very happy. My niece was also with us and the kids menu was pretty good too. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic and very helpful when my niece wanted some chips (after our mains had arrived) she sorted them very quickly. She was lovely and very friendly and we were grateful she was so good to us. Highly recommend.

Couldn’t have asked for a better night! We had Tracey served us who was super polite, friendly and professional! She took time to answer any questions we had and explained how their menus work as it was our first time. The food was gorgeous & we will be going back very soon!! Honestly cannot recommend enough. The sharing platters are to die for, we did the sharing platter with included a fruit red wine & lobster tails, 30 oz steak and Mac and cheese as well as the normal sides and pallet cleansers you receive with any steak.

Food and service excellent but steaks need to be trimmed a lot more. £25 for a 12 ounce serlion with almost one third fat and gristle is not acceptable. This is not the first time, it seems the waiters have been told to say this is quite normal as I had a very hard job to get them to understand the complaint. UPDATE I made a reservation for a particular table 4 days be for arriving for 6 people. On arrival the waiter walked in the opposite direction of the table so I called him back to tell him but he was not interested and said sorry no note of such a thing and carried on regardless ignoring me. When ordering why are we not informed of any alternatives to chips with steaks. Baked potatoes are avaliable but not on the menu. I asked the waiter why he never informed us and his excuse was chips is the default and we don't have time. Discracefull most restaurants tell you. They where also out of my favourite 12 ounze sirloin as early as 7pm. Two people complained the steaks where tough Been back a few times, considering what you pay the steaks are mundane quality and are similar to Lidls

Tracey the waitress was so pleasant and friendly. This is the second time we’ve been first time was our anniversary and she went way beyond to make it memorable. The second was even better and she recognised us from the last time and was so professional and helpful and so happy to be served by her. Food was even better than the last time. I love it.

Good food but very, very expensive now; not sure it's worth it any more...

The standards with Millar and Carter, for me, are always high. Sevenoaks M&C standards are very high. From being greeted, the waitress was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly, the meal was of very high standard and the house red wine was very good. The whole experience was fantastic and this experience guarantees our return....thank you very much M&C. Oh lunch menu, great value for money!

We booked a table for 6 and arrived to a near empty M&C, thinking it was due to the euros being on we had a drink in the bar and then went to our table. Waitress was fine, took our order, and food arrived promptly starters and main, but compared to previous visits, the quality of the food has gone down. The whole group ordered steaks but I can't say that anyone finished their meal. The whole place probably only had 20 ppl in it, and that is poor for a weekend night. Maybe we should have seen the warning signs then. Won't be going back for a while

We live in Strood, so there are a couple of M&C restaurants closer to us (Dartford and Maidstone). However, we always make the extra journey to Sevenoaks. It's got a decent size car park, the atmosphere/ambiance is fantastic and the staff are lovely in there. They always seem to remember us, which is a nice touch. They serve with a smile that I believe is genuine as they seem really passionate to provide a high level of customer service. Service is always prompt and pleasant. That's aside from the fact the food I usually have here is great. It's the best steak I have ever tasted. I brought my inlaws here on a separate occasion and he also said it was the best steak he's ever tasted! It really is worth the extra cost and the extra drive. We see it as a real treat to come here and will keep coming back on special occasions and whenever else we can!

Took the family for a Father's Day Steak. All were very impressed. If you like a really good steak it's the place to go.

Never had a bad experience here - lovely restaurant, ample parking, spacious inside and so you don't feel like you're sitting on people's laps, the food is exceptional and great choice. Drinks menu is also well worth five stars alone. Good quality produce used, always cooked to perfection. Credit where credit's due.

Food brilliant, have been here more than 5 times and never had a bad meal! Lorrie was a great host for the night & even helped us get a pudding to take home.

First time at a Miller & Carter restaurant and helpful, friendly staff talked us through steaks options (Tracey). Delicious food, friendly staff and plenty of space (hate it when tables are crammed together) meant an enjoyable experience.

Food was not up to the usual standard. Meat was rather chewy and the food in general wasn’t as hot as I’d expect, in particular the onion loaf was very cold, chips were lukewarm at best. We visited because I had a gift card from a birthday or Christmas to use and even with the £30 taken off I think it was rather pricey for the standard that was received. Despite this, service was good and can not fault the waitress who served us.

Just been for dinner here and WOW from the moment we walked through the door we were warmly welcomed & led to a table in a booth which was perfect. Our waitress Lorraine was lovely and very helpful when we were ordering our meals. The food, the service, the atmosphere and the restaurant as a whole was just lovely. Very happy to recommend and we'll definitely visit again at some point.

The two waiters were working as a team. The lady remembered us from a previous visit, which was very good. The third person on duty I couldn't really comment on as she wasn't customer focused. Lunch menu was very good value.

I guess this cow didn’t hit the gym as much… Also, we both asked for medium and they were definitely more on the rare side! Still, tasted wonderful, environment was comfortable (if a little chilly for my lady wife’s tastes) and a good time was had. Thanks Lorrie!
