The best restaurants in Scotland

Had the most wonderful meal here last weekend. Food was beautiful. The service was amazing. Owner and all the staff took their time to attend to us, even though the restaurant was busy. The nicest meal I've had in a long time and can't wait to come back! We ordered loads off the menu rather then a set meal and was so pleasantly surprised by the price!! It’s in a unique location with no competition, so could have been an average offering, but I found the welcome warm, the service good and the hot chocolate and banoffi pie of a very good standard. The views are splendid, plenty of parking, toilets excellent, altogether a delightful visit.

We wanted to celebrate my husband's 60th Birthday on Christmas Day by going out for Christmas Dinner just to make it special for him. Often, at Christmas, food can be a hit or a miss when you go out as it often feels like "conveyer belt" meals. Wow, this was NOT the case with The Glenskirlie. They made our day absolutely magical. The food was incredible without doubt but the staff crumbs, they were so attentive, patient and actually made us feel so special as though we were the only ones there ! There was no rush to get the table back and there was nothing too much trouble for Neil and all the hardworking team. We altered our usual Christmas tradition of a home cooked meal to eating out to celebrate David's 60th Birthday and the Glenskirlie pulled out all stops to make it amazing. Thank you.

Food was excellent and the Guinness was top notch. Prices were very reasonable and staff were extremely friendly. Would love to return sometime.

Saturday afternoon, so busy busy but served quickly

Great pub/restuarant. Staff very friendly and welcoming. We were there 2 evenings first only for drinks, after seeing the meals had fish and chips the second night. Food first class freshly cooked for us. Very well presented. Would recommend a visit.

Food is superb in here but I don’t recommend staying for the night although the hotel is quite weirdly pretty and dog friendly. Not worth the money. Unfortunately the music is banging loudly till very late hours. Walls are not sound proofed. Hard to rest especially when you have to travel in the morning. Bathroom is small and the sink is located in the same room as your bed. Breakfast starts at 7:30 which is also a bit late.

Nice modern clean unit, the two lassies work well together and are welcoming, friendly and efficient.

Best pub in Largs with a real fire and you know it’s good if there are locals in it. Lovely pictures of the old ferry’s etc and the heat from the fire is amazing. Well painted outside and welcoming, only thing that’s not so great is the toilets. Great pub

Wow what a great place. If you want to feel like a local come to this restaurant. It was quaint in a great location and amazing food. Best scallops we ever had. Incredible whiskey selection, the best we’ve experienced at a restaurant.

I saw this online and it looked very cool and the food looked amazing. We arrived, in the middle of nowhere. I questioned going in. But my nephew assured me if it wasn’t the same place we could leave. OH.MY.GOD. It was the same place. This is an absolute case of do NOT judge a book by its cover. The inside is SOOOOO cool. The staff are amazing. The food portions are huge… and absolutely sublime. There are games to play. 100% cannot recommend this place highly enough. Worth the detour.

Went into the cafe after never visiting Kirkcudbright. Was greetd by a lovely young lady that was friendly, took our order and had a wee chat. Food was beautiful. Home made soup especially, and desserts. Lovely homey feel.

Visited with family and were warmly welcomed. Friendly staff and tasty food. Their Tuesday deal on pizza and pasta made an excellent meal very affordable. Lovely pizzas all round!!
