The best restaurants in Scotland

Had a lovely meal here, we ate at 6pm on a Friday evening and there were tables but it started to get very busy by 7pm so recommend booking. The staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. The food was top class, really tasty. Had a delicious halloumi salad too. Highly recommend.

Been going here many times and yet to find a drop in quality and value for money. Freshly cooked food to order. Parking is a nightmare.

He desayunado aquí y estaba muy impresionado, así que pensé en probar algo de cena. Un montón de opciones vegetarianas así que fue para la hamburguesa de coliflor, pero estaba muy decepcionado. El gesto simbólico de la ensalada en el bollo era minúsculo y las patatas fritas eran similares a las patatas fritas de horno y la jarra de salsa de chile dulce ocupaba mucho espacio en el plato y era demasiado picante para mí. Mi amigo tenía una hamburguesa Balmoral y tampoco estaban impresionados. En general, era demasiado caro para lo que era y lamentablemente no volverá. La zona del bar tiene una decoración encantadora, el personal era excelente y hay un amplio aparcamiento en la calle.

Era mi primera vez visitando Glasgow, y yo estaba a la caza de un gran lugar de café en la ciudad - Laboratorio Espresso no decepcionó. Había oído que eran conocidos por su café especial de alta calidad, así que pasé por aquí para tomar un café con leche y comer algo. La cafetería es pequeña y acogedora, pero era un domingo, y tuve la suerte de asegurar un asiento dentro. El personal era cálido, acogedor y atento, y la selección de productos horneados era demasiado tentador para resistirse. Pero lo más importante, el café era excepcional - suave, rico y perfectamente equilibrado. De hecho, diría que podría ser uno de los mejores que he probado.

Llamamos aquí de regreso a la Royal Mile desde Holyrood en un sábado muy húmedo a la hora del almuerzo. Era claramente un café que atrajo a nuestros visitantes estadounidenses y pudimos ver por qué ya que era muy pintoresco. Acabamos de tomar sopa y pan porque estábamos tomando un té temprano, pero me complace decir que se sirvió en tubería caliente y en platos encantadores. Estaría feliz de comer aquí de nuevo.

Jamie was a great guide explaining the history of the building and then serving as our waiter. Food was very good and the surroundings, a la MacIntosh, were excellent.

We visited on a very quiet Tuesday evening. Food was anticipated pub food. Burgers tasty but fries were quite a small portion. Pizza's were very doughy and lacked filling to crust. Our waiter was Steven. He was very polite, attentive and ensured we were served our food and drinks promptly.

First time in over a year, been many times in past. This time, disappointing. Prices higher than similar type establishments and portion sizes not what they used to be despite this. Fat on the bacon topping my burger was almost raw. Salad bland, used to come with a lovely dressing. Small basket of fries. £19 for an underwhelming burger. A family member had a chicken dish, again £19. One chicken breast, a tiny portion of rice, some sauce and a chopped carrot that didn't belong on the plate. A bowl of maccaroni £17 and much smaller than in the past. Two desserts, £8.50 each for the tiniest piece of fudge cake and only marginally larger cheese cake which was more of a firm mouse. Finally £4.50 for a pint of lemonade. Eating out isn't cheap anywhere decent now but if im going to be charged such as this, I expect good food and not to feel as though I'm still hungry.

We had the Christmas Dine at Home by BM. It was absolutely fantastic and loads of great well cooked and fresh ingredients. The instructions were perfect and the Beef Wellington was superb. During this pandemic our Christmas Dinner helped us forget it for a few hours. Once again very highly recommended.

Clean cafe with very friendly staff! We got a veggie breakfast which was lovely, french toast which was also lovely and a lorne bap which was nice, however not very filling!

Had a fabulous breakfast in this cafe within a very cool shop, the staff were super friendly and the service was quick, great little find, will definitely be back 👍

We have dined here before and have always had a lovely meal. However, tonight we had to wait over an hour for our food. We could see tables who came in after us getting served before us which was very disappointing, especially as we were there with our 2 children who were getting very hungry. Front of house staff were lovely and we did get a discount for the wait but we would have preferred to not have that experience.

We visited this beautiful wee gem tucked away in this pleasant suburb of Edinburgh: Newington. The lovely couple who own it ( and two sister restaurants in the city) explained they have changed their emphasis to wine by the glass or bottle with upmarket snacks from local high quality suppliers such as Iain Mellis cheese. We loved the cosy autumn into winter vibe: beautiful tasteful lighting enhanced this. They have a truly fabulous selection of wine to suit all tastes. We can’t wait to go back!

I cannot recommend the Oakwood Restaurant and the Highland Lassie enough. Calling ahead to make a reservation and preorder the food was a minor struggle for me—doesn't seem like the cellular reception is great there—but it was absolutely worth the small effort. Bring your own wine if you want it, Oakwood has no liquor license. Also of note: you're on a boat, the small dining room has only one table that seats six. Perhaps we should've expected it, but we were surprised to arrive and find that we were sharing the table with two sets of strangers. Don't shy away, lean into this! We all got to chatting and sharing stories of our lives and experiences, and it made the meal so much more memorable, enjoyable, and special than it would've been otherwise. The food is fantastic, I don't think there's a bad item on the menu, everyone exclaimed about how delicious their meals were, we all cleaned our plates and made room for the fantastic desserts as well. If you have dietary restrictions, let them know when you call, Gus & Gaby will find a way to accommodate you with something special. Gus was very attentive during the meal trying to make sure that everyone was happy. If you have an appreciation for boats, especially wooden boats, dining on the Highland Lassie is an extra special experience. My partner grew up on a wooden boat and knows the craft that goes into them and how much work they are to maintain. We got to talking with Gus and Gaby and they revealed the time and effort they personally put in to restoring the boat (formerly a fishing trawler), designing the wooden decks, rails, and cabins, the types of wood used, and Gus very kindly gave us a tour of the boat after dinner to show her off. She is an absolutely stunning lady with an amazing character and history. The rooms are quite nice, too, if you're considering sleeping on board or taking a cruise! Wonderful experience all around, definitely a memory we will treasure and a highlight of our trip to Loch Ness and the Highlands! Mahalo nui Gus and Gaby, from Angela and Forrest! I stumbled in here with a friend not expecting much. I don't think I've ever had such a nice meal in all my life . I had the spaghetti Bolognese was the richest and most delicious I have ever had .it was amzing with thick cut bread. I did have to ask for the bread but maybe eating bread isn't fashionable anymore:)) My friend had a tiramisu and nearly fell of her seat with how good it was. I was so amazed by her reaction , I got one to go and it was amazing eating it home. It was like most authentic hone made food feeling but when you're out .It was so good I feel like making it regular and driving from Glasgow.
