So good, you just have to go. Great value, FANTASTIC food and also the whole team engaged with us incredibly well, making the whole experience feel amazing. This place really is a jewel in the crown.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and never had a bad meal. Takeaway is fantastic. Also, Risotto was great, and my prawn starter 😍

Been to this establishment over the years and a patron for a sit in meal and I am always impressed buy the food and level of service that’s on offer. For this review is solely on the takeaway side of the business. We as a large family like to have a choice in what we consume especially on takeaway night. Were we disappointed?, a resounding no! Great selection of food and great portion sizes. The time we placed the order to collection was twenty minutes. A highly recommended establishment. 10/10

Everything as good as it was but music way too loud for an afternoon coffee and a 'quiet' chat with a friend.

Disappointing We had asked to move to another seating area was told tables booked so couldn't move. But when two other families came in they were sat in this area for an hour. I feel discriminated for having an autistic child was also told I didn't need to stay. Appalled to reply to them at sitting I told them my child is autistic that day I posted on Facebook evidence I'll be taking this further avoid this horrific place

Lovely meal tonight. Exceptional service. Just one criticism. The table next to us seem to have been given free shots when they got they're bill. This should be standard not only for a selected few.

As always a lovely meal at Cafe Mariana. We went for a late lunch after a morning of bridesmaid dress shopping. Service and food were lovely. They were able to accommodate a lactose intolerant friend really easily with no fuss which really was great. A real credit to Kirkintilloch. Will be back for cocktails with my friends next time as they looked lovely! Update: visited again and was delighted with both the service and the food. My husband and I shared a bottle of wine with our meal and we had a couple of drinks after dinner. Still feel privileged to have such a great resteraunt with fantastic food locally.

Absolutely superb. What a lovely relaxed traditional Italian atmosphere to eat fabulous Italian food in. Staff are very helpful without making you feel rushed or being intrusive. The food is absolutely excellent. Al a carte prices very reasonable, set lunch menu unbelievably reasonable, food was excellent. Kirkintilloch is really lucky to have this restaurant on our doorstep.

Disappointing and higher prices. Lunch menu wasn't cheap. Opted for Spaghetti and Meatballs - one course - £16.00plus. Menu Small Penne Arribatia with garlic bread £14.95. with 2 drinks bill was over £40.00 just for a lunch. Place was quite empty. Waitress very efficient and friendly. Lunch was served in a small bowl packed with spaghetti and 3 meatballs.

I’ve often gone here to get the carry out lunchtime special. This was my first visit sitting in the restaurant. It did not disappoint. Went for a late lunch/early dinner. Penne Salsiccia (great portion and just the right amount of sausage) & Lasagne (it looked small on arrival but it was not) I would heartily recommend the food here It was fantastic

A very cute wee restaurant with a very friendly and cosey vibe. I had just popped in for a light a bite, it was a warm day so was able to sit outside. The staff were friendly and the food was yummy.

Impromptu Date Night 😥 We arrived shortly after 8pm on a Saturday night after a couple of drinks nearly…. As soon as we sat down we were told the kitchen was closing soon, so if we could get our order in! The girls on service were lovely. Really trying their best. Order in - food was out in about 10 minutes…. ! Plates clearer by manger (I assume) no offer of dessert or coffee. Then the icing on the cake 😂 a waitress brought out a brush and started brushing the floor at tables nearby!! We took the hint and asked for the bill. No-one came near us to take our money and we left the money on the table and left with no-one acknowledging us. Really, really poor for such a small and intimate place. My advise? If you want to be daytime only?? Do it and shut in the evening. We feel really short changed and wont be back.

Unfriendly waitress . Looked as if she couldn’t be bothered to do her job. When paying for bill, I noticed I had been overcharged , I calculated bill myself to make sure it was right. The waitress questioned me twice if I was sure I was correct on how many drinks I had. Considering there was only two other tables in at the time, she should have remembered herself what was on our bill. When I was given money that I was owed back, they were very reluctant to give me it back and a half- hearted apology was given. Very disappointing considering this was my first time here and I certainly won’t be back. Sad to see this type of service in a family run business.

Overcharged by £7 by staff member for two drinks which we did not have. When I questioned the price as to why it was so much , she asked me twice if I I was sure we didn’t have two drinks each , when we only had one each. They were hesitant to give me money back that they owed me . Absolutely shocking.

Booked a table at this popular restaurant a month ago as we knew it would be busy due to valentines weekend. Food was okay, had better. But being asked twice during stater then twice again during main course if food was okay? Tiresome to say the least. But being asked to vacate to a smaller table after only One Hour and Ten Minutes as next customers had arrived!!!!!!! They sat us at a four seater!!!!!! Bill paid and walked!!!!! Won't be back.

Lovely local restaurant Authentic quality Italian food which was delicious. We had a seafood pasta which cooked perfectly and full of flavour Staff were very welcoming and friendly We will definitely be back.

Was not expecting to pay £4.50 for plate of cjipd then £1.50 for sprinkle of parmesan. Most expensive chips yet .

I came her with with my 3 friends for our Christmas night out , the service was quick and efficient , the waitress new her job which makes a difference , and the food was exquisite , couldn’t fault it at all , I would recommend this to everyone who like a nice quiet meal at reasonable prices

I have always enjoyed dining here but tonight was a huge disappointment. This was a Christmas night out but towards 9.30 we felt like we needed to drink up and get out (which we did by 10 o'clock) also staff clearing up stacking up tables and sweeping up while you have customers still sitting having a drink is really not on. We had our Christmas night out here last year and had a great night hence the reason we booked for this year. Will not be doing that again and will not be recommending this for a night out .

A beautiful hidden gem in Kirky. Gorgeous cosy interior with amazing hearty Italian food. The lunch deal was great and portions were very big. Staff were lovely too. There seemed to be a huge wine selection that we didn't get to try but can't wait to come back for drinks next time.

Slow service, very very unfriendly waitress, cocktails poor and signs saying had to pay in cash but yet when we said we didn’t have a cash, the card machine suddenly started working.

Food was ok but very small portion for a main, goats cheese ravioli!! Service was ok, in fact very attentive at times. At 9.15pm one of the waitress got the mop and bucket out and started mopping the floor with the strong smell of bleach. Thought that was a bit much.

When will your card payment work? I have been here 4 times, but the card option never works. They only demand cash. Tax saving strategy I suppose. Food setvice is too slow no matter what time you go.

Four of us walked in wasn't overly busy prices were average service slow, food average pasta was not al dente plates were cold overall was disappointed that it didn't live up to the mostly excellent reviews maybe it was a bad day but will give it another try.

Always have a good meal here. Food is good quality and staff always friendly.

Only criticism was the pasta and garlic bread had too much salt. Otherwise really enjoyed the evening.

We went here for a birthday meal for my Dad and were not dissappointed. We all had a different dish and everyone was very impressed with the quality of their food. It's a really nice atmosphere and decor too, and quite reasonably priced. I'd definitely recommend and be back again for more.

Great little Italian cafe/restaurant, been many times and always enjoyed the food and Italian wines, beer and mineral water available to take with the food. Very popular so advisable to book. Excellent service from the staff.

I'm Italian and last Sunday I had a great antipasto with a tasty spaghetti olio and peperoncino... Well done, bravi tutto buono... The only remarks is about the payment in cash only as it seems that the payment card machine is always out of work...........

I have visited this establishment on numerous occasions. The staff are pleasant and very helpful the food is excellent and well presented.

I've had takeaways from here before. The food is good. This was my first time in the restaurant though, and although it wasn't terrible, it really wasn't that great either. It's very small and they have plenty of staff but the service just isn't very good. It's not bad, but little niggles here and there and having to ask for everything - it actually got quite tiring by the end of our visit so we didn't bother with dessert. Food is good though so just be prepared

Everything is a 10/10. Ordered a pepperoni pizza and I haven’t had a pizza quite like that, the cheese was nice and stringy the pepperoni was great. Also had a side of Cajun seasoned fries and bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Cajun chips were perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing. The bread was nice and warm and soft fresh as well. Atmosphere was amazing we sat in the beer garden, lovely décor gorgeous place. Service was a 10/10 everyone was so lovely and had a great attitude. Food came fast only waited around 10-15 minutes and everything was fresh. Recommended to everyone

Lovely Sunday lunch. Bruschetta to start with then Penne Mariana as a main, followed Torta Della Nonna and a couple of Prosecco’s, you can’t say fairer than that.

Staff kindly squeezed us in late afternoon on Saturday, I don't know if there was a shift change or something at the time but it seemed a bit hectic and there wasn't many of us in at the time. Someone to answer the calls constantly and a better booking system is needed but other than that I want to move in! Food was fantastic! 👌🤤💗

Was in here a few months t hs ago and although the food was nice my experience left me with an awful taste in my mouth. Just about half way through my food and in walks a guy, (who all the staff new) he had a puppy dog in his arms and as he was speaking with the girls who were working, he processed to go up towards the kitchen and was behind the counter, with the puppy in his arms, totally disgusted and will NEVER be back. I told the girl who served us and all she said was "oh sorry but he wasn't in the kitchen" I don't think they have heard of health and hygiene, disgusting, totally disgusting

Never been disappointed eating here.

Been before and the restaurant has a lovely rustic feel to it. However on this occasion the food was veryaverage and way off par with Italian restaurants nearby or in Glasgow. A group of eight of us went and the portion sizes varied massively from dish to dish, mainly due to the different sizes of plates and bowls they use, so expect 80% plate on one pasta dish to a plate filled to the brim on another pasta dish. For consistency…Why they don’t just weigh or measure a portion out rather than use ridiculously huge plates with a ladle sized serving bowl is beyond me? Service was particularly slow (45 mins between courses) and staff seemed to be occupied dealing with takeaway. Overall the dishes weren’t anything special and certainly wouldn’t rush back. Restaurant needs to improve in a couple of areas and really hope they put more focus on execution and consistency but will be avoiding, at least for the time being.

We had a very enjoyable visit for an evening meal. The wai6ikg staff were attentive , courteous and professional. The food was excellent and the chef is to be commended. Overall well worth the visit and worthy of a return . We will recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

Really poor takeaway delivered. Ordered the chicken Milanese. Overly tangy sauce and a tiny piece of chicken which was practically inedible and tough. For £11 not good at all. I'm not usually prone to giving negative reviews. However this is not the first time Mariannas takeaway was poor quality and poor value. Have emailed the restaurant before but they never get back to you. Such a shame. Could be good .

Waitresses were very pleasant and the food was good but nothing special. However the big negative was that there are far too many tables. They back on to each other and the chairs are touching the ones behind. We were there at a weekend and there were 5 people at 4 person tables. The tables are tight enough for 4 so 5 must be impossible if you are having a meal and drinks. Don't know if this is standard or if they are trying to make as much as possible during the "financial crisis". Either way we won't be back.

Very disappointed, didn't receive glass of water, risotto was disgusting tasted of dirty mussel shells, waited on 20 mins for someone to come to take dessert order, still no one came left without dessert, when paying bill informed them of my dissatisfaction they didn't say anything just taken the full amount of bill. Won't be returning.

Had a fantastic meal at Marianas - food, staff, service and atmosphere all brilliant! Myself and six friends had been let down by another restaurant and Marianas served our table of seven on Wed night with no notice. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more and will be returning next year for our annual Xmas night out. Everybody was so impressed! Looking forward to returning soon :)

The food was disgusting to the point we didn't even finish half of the food. The food left a nasty taste in your mouth afterwards. Just a joke to call yourself an Italian restaurant. Thank god there was a domino's down the street, domino's are more Italian than this Place. Don't waste your money on horrible food when you wouldn't feed it to your dog The Waitressing staff are lovely and friendly, about the only thing we enjoyed about the hole Experience.

Had a lovely meal but no dessert as we were told we only had 10 minutes at the table. We made no complaint. We were shown out to the beer garden which is covered and heated. No complaint. Got told we couldn't get a bill as there was a mix up. We agreed to pay the total without a breakdown as we didn't want to make a fuss. But then were told that as 4 of our party hadn't showed we were not getting the £40 deposit back! (9 out of 13 went). We were having a bit of a moan at that! Our total bill being well over £300 so would have left a tip anyway! We then got the very angry Manager shouting at us because we were complaining and we were chased out to the street and told we were not welcome back. Needless to say we are never going back anyway! There are nicer restaurants that don't charge a deposit. Don't take the risk.

Decided to try Marianas takeaway for the first time and found it very underwhelming. I ordered 2 pizzas, kids pizza meal and a portion of chips for collection. The order came to around £25. Got home to discover I hadn't been given the kids fruit shoot and one of the pizzas was half burnt. Both things I can deal with however a little disappointed considering the price. The kids pizza is very small so best to bare in mind in case you have an older child (my son is 6 and was still hungry afterwards). As for the main pizzas, they were edible. Nothing more and nothing less. Not something I can recommend and definitely not a kind of pizza I would expect from an Italian restaurant. Reminded me of the pizzas from an Indian/kebab shop. The 2 bigger pizzas were also only cut into quarters. Chips were good though! Overall, I can't say I will be back in a hurry especially for the price and the standard of food.

Delicious food. Very accomodating to my daughters fussiness. Portion sizes were very generous and served piping hot. Only complaint is that it took a while for the bill to arrive.
