Nonna's Kitchen in East Dunbartonshire

Portion sizes are a bit small. Food quality is not as good as it once was. The new decor is lovely but the acoustics are off now so it difficult to hear someone talk across the table without them raising their voice.

I went for the sirloin, which was absolutely delicious, with the garlic mushrooms and peppercorn sauce on the side 👌🏻 5☆ reasonably priced too 👍🏻

Very disorganized restaurant and overall disappointing experience. Nearly 2.5 hours for two 3 course meals, with sides and drinks. I got 1 main with desserts, no starters and no drinks (freezing cold) The manager was helpful and tried to fix the situation. The full meal was sent again, however the thick chips where half cooked and again no drinks. They did send them up on the third journey. 3 hours wasted and a disappointing meal. I won't be ordering here again.

Lovely food, drinks and atmosphere. Staff are very attentive. Can be a little quick with food, however, just mention and they are happy to accommodate. Husband said its his best steak ever in a restaurant. They also offer half potions. Regular visitors as we are local.

First visit. What a lovely experience. We both had fillet steak. Melt in the mouth. Surprise was the crispy kale. So different. Absolutely fab. Nothing to fault. Staff friendly and attentive.

Nonna's Kitchen in Kirkintilloch offers a delightful Italian dining experience. During my recent lunch visit, I was impressed by the prompt and attentive service. The food was absolutely delicious, featuring authentic Italian flavours and quality ingredients. On top of that, the prices were very reasonable, making it an excellent value for the overall experience. I highly recommend Nonna's Kitchen and look forward to returning soon!

Just left Nonnas kitchen would have loved a desert asked for desert menu and waited 20mins . We asked for our bill and left spoiled our valentines meal completely .Never had bad service on previous visits but tonight put me right off.Didnt leave a tip something I have never done but bad service doesn't deserve a top.

Staff are lovely and friendly. Good service. While the food was nice I felt portions were on the small side in my view when it was from main menu and not a linchtime deal for example and the pizza was quite soggy in the middle, a bit firmer would be nice.

Our new favourite takeaway. Always arrives bang on time, food hot and well prepared. Reasonably priced and so nice!

Staff kept insisting food was going to be ready in a minute but ended up being 25 minutes late. Despite the delay the food was freezing so I assume the food was ready the whole time but the staff prioritised other things than complete my order. Unfortunately I have ordered from here before and it’s been good but the last couple of times have been disappointing.

Always great here, lovely atmosphere. Parking right over the road. Book a booth in advance, they always fill up. Kids say it's the best lasagne in Glasgow..

I went here with a group of friends for dinner. Starter of Mozzarella fritters was good. I ordered pizza which was very soggy in the middle, so much so that I just couldn't eat it. Desert was Sticky Toffee pudding which was okay. Service from the waitress was first class and friendly. The restaurant was incredibly busy and so was noisy, which would have been bearable but later they had "live music" in the form of a chap singing and playing guitar which made me vow never to go back. People go to a restaurant to eat and talk, maybe catch up with old friends, not to be deafened by someone standing ten feet away playing a guitar and singing into a microphone.

Absolutely delicious new menu. I'm vegetarian and these were the most interesting choices I've seen in a long time

Sunday lunch is mega! The cheesiest Mac and Cheese on the side of a Roast Beef dinner. Yum.

Just popped in for a quick breakfast bite. Eggs Benedict was lovely and the coffee was pretty good also.

Been coming here for years and very seldom disappointed. Paolo - the manager, always takes good care of us and I always find the staff very attentive and on the ball. My wife and I had dinner last night - I had the pasta saffron and sausage which was incredible followed by creme brulée (and a few drinks - great pint of Peroni served here). The best restaurant in Kirkie hands down and is even comparable to the best in Glasgow imho.

Food good , service very poor . 20 minutes to get a drink … we asked 4 times and finally the manager said we should have been told our drinks would take 20 minutes and no apology just that’s it’s … complaining was our error… for the remainder of our meal our drinks were slammed on the table . We waited 20 minutes for an ice cream and 20 Minutes for the bill . Owners work to their speed and don’t like complaining… loads of staff not doing very much and forget orders. Food was good … service was terrible. I would not go back

Food excellent and very tasty Service was terrible ; 20’mins for drinks and we asked 4 times where our drinks were : finally asked a manager who said it’s slow and that’s the way we do it ??? Complaining was our problem and for the remainder of the meal our drinks were slammed on the table and we were made to feel that complaining was our problem . No apologies just that’s the way it is, waited on desserts for 20’mins asked for the bill and sat for another 20 minutes and finally went to the till to pay . Nofe food , service was woefully bad with lots of staff doing very little and with self importance. I won’t be back

Came across this gem on a work trip. Ended up going there every night. Fantastic food, great staff and just a great experience all around. Would 100% recommend.

Had ordered a take away from here in a while as the pizza bases were always burned. So thought I would give it another go. Ordered Margarita pizza and fires. Pizza toppings just slid off the base, and the tomato sauce was tasteless. The red onion tasted like it had been put on at the end of the cooking time as it was still uncooked. Poor effort. The fries were good.

Everything was very good, exquisite service and very familiar, totally recommended

Food was nice enough however we ordered 3 mains & a side of fries, one of the mains was like a starter, ravioli costing £15 had 7 pieces of ravioli, we did comment on it & were told it was unlike their other pastas, the ravioli was cooked fresh & that was why it was a smaller portion!!! Also we had a small house white wine spritzer which was £8 & soda water & lime was £3. We've been coming here for years but been disappointed the last couple of times & won't be back. Especially complaining, my cousin actually said she was still hungry & was finished long before the other 2 people but they just weren't interested.

I was very disappointed in my lunch at Nonna's today. I ordered ravioli and when my dish arrived, I honestly thought they had brought a half portion! I had 7 pieces of ravioli, which took no time to eat! It left me feeling hungry. The dish cost £14.95 which I feel is very expensive for such a small portion. I commented on this to a senior member of staff who explained that the reason the portion size was small, was that the ravioli is prepared freshly every day. Seriously?? I understand that not all portions are equal but I don't expect to finish my meal and feel hungry. We wont be back.

Ordered a takeaway Margarita pizza and added a portion of king prawns. Collected the pizza and when I opened the box at home was shocked to see SIX prawns on top of the pizza!! I had also asked for garlic (on the phone and again when I collected the pizza) but there was no garlic added. The pizza was totally flavourless with absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. Also, the base was completely soggy. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and I won't be ordering again. Very disappointed 😞.

Sat outside with our dog who also got breakfast and loved it.

Mozzarella fritters were thin sticks looked frozen pizza sloppy mess when cut tore apart to crust chips hard in middle paid by cash so no refund can I applied for disappointed won't last much longer with this poor quality ashame as wanted to use something local

Had lunch yesterday not too many people in restaurant. Had minestrone soup no flavour then a 30 min wait for main course. The managers attitude left a lot to be desired.

Very disappointing. I’ve tried here a number of times and I’ve been disappointed each time. First I tried their take away during lockdown. The food was tepid and after they took my order, when I went to collect said they didn’t have some of the ingredients. We went in for a breakfast after reopening and there was a one way system which customers weren’t adhering to and staff not guiding customers, they just stood and watched as customers squeezed in and out of the doorway. The menus weren’t sanitised, I had to ask the waitress to clean the table as it was all sticky, my juice was served in a chipped glass which would’ve cut my lip if I hadn’t noticed. Awful, I won’t be back

Lovely visit here today, the food is amazing, decent portion sizes, thankfully we didn't order starters, we definitely could not have finnished them. I prefer that to smaller portions to be fair😀. Very extensive menu, service was great, lovely atmosphere, lovely setting outside too for the warmer weather and reasonably priced. We will be back :)

Great food, a little quiet as it was midweek.

We placed an order at 7.20pm, the acknowledgement said delivery would be 8.10pm. I got a message at 8.10pm to say the order was on it's way but when I called 20mins later they said it was only just out the oven!! Apparently the earlier message was automated, how pointless is that!! The food arrived at 8.45pm. It was still warm, but the macaroni, which was on the menu as being finished with a 'breadcrumb & parmesan crust', only had a 'bit of melted cheese on top 😏The food was pleasant enough otherwise, just a shame that the service was so disappointing.

Great dinner, wide selection on the menu and they will alter or add things to meals to suit. Service was quick and efficient with pleasant staff. We just left before live music was going to start. Only downside, it's a little pricey we thought but overall can't complain as it was lovely.

Unfortunately not good. On the positive side it was very busy and there was a great atmosphere. However, my food was terrible. Cold soggy pizza is not what I expect from an Italian restaurant. I honestly don't understand how a freshly made pizza can be soggy on the bottom, and cold in the middle. And how on earth an Italian restaurant can get this so wrong? Oh and the soundproofing is awful. So so noisy and that was before the live music started. I had high hopes for Nonna's, but I won't be back.

Went here to celebrate our son's birthday, the food was excellent and the restaurant was really nice inside, or out. The staff were very pleasant and as it was busy we didn't had to wait that long before the arrived at table, also was a great price for what we all got. Would highly recommend Nonna's kitchen, and will be returning if we go back there again.

Ordered food for delivery. The wait was an hour, which is understandable if they are busy. However, the website said it was delivered 10 minutes later than the promised time, when an hour later we are still waiting on food. The phone line is constantly "busy". If you can't deliver on time, just get in touch with the customer. Instead of leaving them hungry and frustrated .

Good food, but really let down by inaccurate wait times! Takeaway wait times are often 2 or 3 times the length stated, and the only reason given is “the kitchen is busy”. It would be better to be honest about this at time of order. Waiting almost an hour for 1 pizza…

Clean, nice interior, nice terrace on the canal for a sunny day, solid and simple menu. Quick service, nice booths if you can get one. I have been loads of times and if you show up later in the evening they do kinda give you the bums’ rush. It’s a bit of a shame because it’s still nice but they are doing everything other than saying ‘gtf outta here punks’.

Fantastic italian restaurant right in the heart of Kirkintilloch on the banks of the canal . Today we had a family birthday meal and the food and the service was amazing, I dropped a birthday cake the day before and the were very happy to do this , also after we had our meal they brought the cake out and the staff sung happy birthday which was also amazing . We'll done to all the staff as they all done their part

My wife picked up a takeaway as we were going out that evening , I had a burger which was probably the worst one I’ve ever tasted slimy contents which tasted terrible and the chips could have done with a bit longer , I suggest you cut out the middle man and put it straight into the recycling. Nonnas takeaway used to be great no matter what you ordered but I would give it a by now .

Service was very slow , waited half an hour for our drinks and an hour for our starters, only got them because we went and found staff to ask for them. Food was ok , nothing special.one of our party said salmon was all mushy .

Arrived without booking on Thursday evening and we were made to feel very welcome and the variety of the menu was impressive. Food arrived and was as delicious as it sounded on reading the menu, this is not always the case in most places.one ingredient in my choice was not available but was substituted with a more expensive piece of fish, this option was proposed at time of ordering, again something that does not always happen in other places we have eaten at. I would happily recommend and will definitely visit again. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and absolutely delicious food.

Walked in on Easter Sunday 2024 and raw sewage was dripping into the bar area into various buckets. Food was still being served!

Had the calamari and minestrone to start followed by calabrese pizza, seafood risotto and lasagna as mains. All were pretty good. The pizza had a really spicy chorizo topping which I don't think was stated on the menu but not a big deal. I've given 4 out of 5 and I will give my reason why not the extra star. The menu online doesn't reflect the menu in house, some items were missing in house and the prices are different. The online menu should be updated. The drinks menu also didn't reflect what was on offer, no non alcoholic beers were available which was disappointing for drivers. The lighting at tables could be improved.

When the pizza is done right it's done extremely well, probably the best wood fired pizza I've tasted north of Glasgow but I've been burnt more than a few times by terribly misshapen orders, if you are doing a takeaway then I suggest you collect it in person so you can challenge them on the condition of what you received, otherwise deliver at your own risk but their food when sat inside is pretty good

The food and atmosphere was fab, really enjoyed it.

Ordered a large takeaway order specifically said the time I wanted delivered at . Then confirmed on actual day the time food was to be delivered at. Food got delivered 20 mins early most of the family hadnt arrived when food was delivered. End result was guests had cold food. When I called to complain all they can say is sorry !!!!!!

Very tasty brekkie with fabulous coffee only let down by slightly slow service

Great food, the pizzas are spectacular and the old school hip-hop vibe is super cool. But it’s the service that goes above and beyond and makes the place so welcoming and fun. Kerry especially was a superstar. 11/10!!!

She only realised the kitchen's mistake after eating a slice. By way of apology, we were offered free desserts. We didn't particularly want dessert at that point, but we decided to have it anyway, seeing as it was free. However, when it came to the bill, we were then told that they were only going to comp the dessert of the person who had been given the dangerous pizza. The waiter rudely insisted she hadn't said what everyone in the party had very clearly heard, and said that everyone else was on the hook to pay for dessert that they hadn't even wanted. This ended with a stand-up argument at the end of a meal where we were meant to be celebrating my mother in law's birthday. If you have any kind of dietary requirement, I can only recommend you avoid this restaurant, as they clearly can't be bothered to treat you with the care and attention you need. Even if you don't, I wouldn't bother anyway: the pizzas are sloppy, overloaded and soggy.

first time visiting here. I drove 24 miles to get there but I wasn't disappointed. I had the Gamberetti Picantti for starters really tasty but for my taste, I'd prefer some chilies then I had the rib-eye steak the steak was cooked to perfection couldn't fault this restaurant, but maybe I would choose a better time of the day as there was a kids birthday party on ( happy birthday BTW ), I'm not sure if I will visit again unless I was in the area but no problem recommending here, book before you visit

I drove 24 miles just to try Donna's kitchen. I wasn't disappointed. The gambarini picanti was lovely. I would prefer it with chillies, though, but that's my personal taste, but it was still delicious. Then I had the ribeye steak, and it was cooked to perfection. I would return if I was in the area or close by recommend booking in advance

Usually I really enjoy a Nonnas, but this was poor. Pizza arrived stone cold not a bit of heat in it, desserts were forgotten in delivery, long wait time. Desserts were lovely when they did arrive, Staff were lovely when we called, I don't think the food really travels well in a delivery setting.

Fabulous place for a quick birthday dinner this evening. Top quality food, superb staff and a lovely environment.

Came last night with my son and dad. Staff were fantastic as usual. The manager in particular always makes you feel welcome (sorry I don't know his name). We chose the market menu for a change. Fantastic value for money, I think it was £15 for two courses. Between us we had the croquettes, the mushroom and Italian sausage on sourdough, the beef and the chicken wrapped in Parma ham. It was all fantastic. Been coming to nonnas since it opened over ten years ago and it still feels like a treat every time. Thanks guys!

Nonna's Kitchen is amazing!! The food is delicious and the staff are very attentive without being overbearing. I would definitely recommend Nonna's and I will certainly be back soon too!!

Had nice anti pasti to start to share. Was a good amount! Steak was surprisingly good for a non-just steak place! Really enjoyed it with the merlot. The ravioli was also tasty! The lasagna had a lot of cheese and seemed like a small portion. Will come back for the good looking pizza’s!

The food and service were excellent. The only complaint was that two kids were allowed to play on their tablet up very loudly by their parents while guests were having their meal.

Food was Disappointing Manager was helpful bit of a shame as I was truly looking forward to it but I couldn't eat my main meal and my wife's Risotto was a completely bland and my son's pizza was limp and not very warm so can't recommend altho in fairness the Manager refunded my meal and didn't charge for our coffee but I'm afraid I still couldn't recommend it to anyone who truly enjoys Italian food

First of all I love Nonna's Kitchen. We had not booked but was told we could have a table within half an hour. It was twenty minutes by I ended up having to go and get two menus as no one was serving us. I then had to go and ask if we could order food. It was very busy but there was people getting served before us. Its just not right. I can't fault the food as it was amazing as always just abit short staffed I think.

Restricted to the outside patio area is NOT a dog friendly cafe. This seems to be norm for Kirkintilloch cafes.

Ordered an online home delivery earlier this evening after trying to order by phone but after giving my details and part of my order the call was disconnected and after trying to recall the line was constantly engaged. The delivery was timed for 18.40 which was put back to 19.00 which for a Saturday was acceptable After several phone calls the order finally arrived at 19.50 minus the pizza which to me was unacceptable and accordingly I returned the order. I telephoned the restaurant to advise them that the order had been returned as it was incomplete and they said they could have it cooked and out to me in 20 mins !! We live 15 mins from the restaurant so I assume it was going in the microwave to be reheated We are regulars in the restaurant and this is not acceptable

Ordered a takeaway tonight from Nonnas , Anyone looking at this photo would struggle to identify this as a chicken burger. Don’t the staff look at what they’re sending out and ask if they would be happy to accept that.

Food was absolutely brilliant, some overpriced, staff friendly, service very slow last two times we were in, would've saved loads of money had I gone to the kirky puffer and service would've been quicker, but I know now for next time.

Breakfast was delicious especially my eggs Benedict, staff were very nice and attentive. Nice and relaxing Sunday breakfast.

Second visit and sadly we had to send another meal back, on our first visit my wife’s steak was virtually raw, this time my calzone was cold in the middle. The staff sorted the problem quickly but honestly I give up and won’t be back.
