Clarinda's in Edinburgh, City of

Called in here in our way back up the Royal Mile from Holyrood on a very wet Saturday lunchtime. It was clearly a cafe which attracted our American visitors and we could see why as it was very quaint. We just had soup and bread because we were having an early tea but I am pleased to say it was served piping hot and in lovely dishes. I would be happy to eat here again.

Nous n avons pas été déçu du déplacement. Déco, personnel et nourriture, tout était au rdv pour un super moment. Attention de ne pas vous y rendre trop tard ou n ayez pas peur d attendre un peu car c est petit (une vingtaine de places) et victime de son succès 🙂 Les WC dame sont également un endroit à ne pas rater 😉

A pretty small place near Holyrood palace and the Scottish parliament with some of the best scones I’ve ever had! Not recommended if you are claustrofobic or have a disability that reqiures space to get around.

While we waited about 20 minutes outside before a table opened up, once in we enjoyed the intimate setting, and the assortment of pastries. Service was friendly and efficient.

Antes de llegar al palacio de Holyrood, al final de la Royal Mile, está este coqueto salón de té. Merece mucho la pena conocer el sitio y recrearse en su decoración mientras degustas un maravilloso té y algunos de sus pasteles exquisitos (nosotros pedimos un scone y estaba muy rico). Muy muy recomendable.

It’s a small cafe, a bit outside the center and we found it based on other reviews. It was well worth it, it feels like being in the living room of a local family and we ordered a selection of breakfasts. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed the calm atmosphere. The staff was also super nice, we warmly recommend it.

A cosy beautifully decorated classic tea room in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town with a very friendly atmosphere. It's usually busy but if you are happy to share a table you can find a seat and make friends. Love it!

What a lovely place for something to eat. The service was great, we had to wait for a table but totally worth it! Can't praise this place highly enough. Best scones ive ever tasted. I'll definitely go again next time I'm in Edinburgh. Thanks so much

We enjoyed completely our lunch. We enjoyed toasted sandwiches with tea & chai. Topped it off with a slice of Victoria cake. Decorated with China from years gone by. There may be a que, but certainly worth the wait.

Loved this little cafe - beautiful decor and friendly staff - we didn’t have to wait long for table - lovely soup and slice and delightful cup of tea in old china. Worth finding this place (after reading reviews) and don’t forget to visit the ladies bathroom!

Paid a visit to this delightful tea rooms after a tour of Holyrood Palace. Really enjoyed the cosy homely feel, tasty sandwiches and delicious home made cakes and treats. Great coffee and attentive staff. Will definitely return on our next visit to Edinburgh.

We had soup with a roll and then the Crean Tea. On good note the roll that came with the soup (though tasted more like celery) was really big. Nice atmosphere and staff were friendly. The Cream Tea, scones cold 😕 We waited 5 mins for Tea and coffee and had to ask when these would be served with the scones.

The best apple pie in Edinburgh, we have wanted to try this place for ages. We have missed out on many excellent afternoon tea treats. We will be back again soon and would recommend the bakes as they are made on site. Excellent delicious thank you

Coqueto lugar muy familiar con una calidad espectacular a un precio muy razonable. Tomamos unos huevos revueltos con salmón ahumado espectaculares. La tarta de zanahoria, muy rica. Unas tostadas con mantequilla, deliciosas. Los cafés, muy bien preparados y el chocolate con malvaviscos, delicioso. Visita perfecta para desayunar.

J'y suis allée 2 fois . En revenant d'une balade a Arthur's seat. Ce salon de thé se situe entre Hollyrood palace et le chateau d'Edimbourg. Parfais pour une tasse de thé et un petit encas. Et la deuxième fois pour prendre mon "scottish breakfast" (végétarien). Le cadre est chaleureux et les gateaux maisons sont très bons .

What a cute and charming place! We got here right at 11am and only had to wait about 15 minutes. Not that many tables here but they turn them over quickly. Tea was great, and my scone was probably the best I've ever had. Definitely worth the hype

Wie in einer Puppenstube für Erwachsene bekommt man hier die allerbesten scones mit clotted cream und marmelade ever!! First come first serve. Befindet sich auf der Royal Mile kurz vor Holyrood Palace. Ein must see meiner Meinung nach und wie gesagt habe ich noch nie so gute very Britisch scones genossen!

Nous nous sommes arrêtés chez Clarinda's pour prendre un thé le matin de notre départ d'Édimbourg. Le décor est absolument charmant, et on peut en plus de son thé aussi bien commander un breakfast salé que de la pâtisserie. Ne voulant pas choisir, nous avons opté pour les deux. J'ai pris un délicieux rouleau fourré au haggis, et ma compagne des toasts au saumon et oeufs brouillés. Mais le sommet est le choix de pâtisseries, exposées sur une étagère et toutes plus appétissantes les unes que les autres. Ma compagne a commandé un gâteau au cappuccino, et moi un sponge cake. Je recommande.

We went to Clarinda's Tea Room several times when we were in Edinburgh. They make the best scones & the best porridge in all of Scotland and London. Absolutely delicious with a side of homemade jam and clotted cream. Scones were true perfection and the porridge was the creamiest we had anywhere. That along with a pot of tea or a latte for my husband was absolute heaven. On a rainy or sunny day, it's a lovely place to visit. The staff is amazing, so kind and efficient.

We got there and the place was closed. Note on the door stating staff shortage. The local search site shows less busy than normal! Hello, closed!

After walking up to Arthur's Seat, we had lunch at Clarindas. I had chosen it in advance as it looked very homely and personal in the pictures - and hoped that we would manage to get a table even though there were 8 of us and there were a lot of tourists in the city. And luckily it went well and we all had a delicious lunch in homely surroundings. Clarindas is also very close to Holyrood Park

A quaint and quirky wee tearoom on the bottom of The Royal Mile. They were serving a limited menu due to staff shortages. Breakfast had finished so only options for lunch was soup and quiche. We opted for soup - minestrone which was a meal in itself and Broccoli and Cheddar, both were delicious. Tea and coffee and a range of homemade cakes. Fab and fast service. We enjoyed our visit.

Locale accogliente, decorato con cura, personale gentilissimo. C'è sempre un po' di coda ma scorrevole e vale la pena di aspettare. Abbiamo preso Scottisch tea con torta di carote al cioccolato e torta amarena e cocco. Ottima qualità. Molto buone. 11.40£

Went here as it was close to our aparthotel. The cafe has eight tables, so there is usually a queue, but it moves as quickly as people eat. Each table has a live plant or flowers, with novelty salt and pepper shakers. It’s quite cozy and there are things all over the walls that make it fun to look around and strangely reminded me of my grandma’s dining room (in a good way). The food was like something your mum would make at home; in other words, warm, tasty, satisfying and leaves you happy. The tea is also piping hot.

This is a very small tea room so had to share a table with another single person. I ordered a mushroom soup with a brie toastie and a pot of tea. The mushroom soup was wonderful and looked and tasted of mushroom. The toastie was overfilled with cranberry brie bacon so no room for a cake. Very clean toilet but soap dispenser empty i told a member of staff and they immediately changed it. Customer satisfaction is a priority. The prices charged are very reasonable. Well worth a visit.

The food at Clarinda’s is so delicious, it’s hard to imagine that the service and ambiance could be just as great! I have been interested in and taken afternoon tea for many years in many places and this tearoom is vastly under appreciated. The ambiance is that of your granny’s home and the food tastes like she just made it fresh for you. I would be here every Sunday afternoon if I could!!

We stopped in here early afternoon. It is small but really lovely. Waited about 15 minutes for a table to become free. We had lunch and dessert which can be picked for the dessert table. Smoked salmon was so yummy. Soup was very good too....

Estuve aquí a mediados de septiembre de 2020 y Clarinda's aún no está abierto (es un lugar muy pequeño). Mi última visita real fue en octubre de 2018, pero he estado cada vez que visito Edimburgo. Los almuerzos son sabrosos y caseros y el ambiente del lugar es cursi, pero la razón por la que vuelvo es el pastel de zanahoria, que es, sin duda, el mejor pastel de zanahoria que he probado. No es broma, planeo mis viajes a Edimburgo en torno a visitas a Clarinda's. Tuve que visitar otros lugares esta vez, pero ninguno se compara. Así que la próxima vez que esté aquí, comprobaré si mi café favorito está abierto de nuevo. ¡Nunca dejes de hacer ese pastel de zanahoria!

Lovely bakes and really enjoyed having tea and cake in a traditional tea room. Located a short distance from Arthurs Seat, it's a nice way to end a walk.

In fondo al miglio , quasi a due passi dalla residenza estiva della regina , un po’ nascosto sulla sinistra c’è questa deliziosa sala da tè.Sembra di entrare in casa di qualcuno con alle pareti tazzine in porcellana e soprammobili.Ottima selezione di te’ e torte fatte in casa .Da non perdere !

Es otro de esos lugares que yo visitaría si fuese a Edimburgo.. es un lugar muy curioso para tomarte un té, un café y disfrutar de alguno de los muchos dulces que tienes expuestos en el salón.. la decoración es muy curiosa, todo antiguo, como si estuvieses en el salón de una casa del siglo XIX, con muchos cacharros, menaje y decoración “antigua/vintage”.. es un sitio peculiar que merece la pena ver y disfrutar.. si paseas por la Royal Mile, lo encontrareis al lado izquierdo de la calle llegando al palacio real.

Tornerei ad Edimburgo solo per lei ❤️Sei sul Royal mile , in fondo in fondo , a 2 passi da Holyrood, entri da Clarinda e ti sembra di essere a casa dai nonni ❤️I centrini, i merletti, le teiere, la consolle con i dolci appena sfornati, tripudio per occhi e palato , quadri vintage alle pareti, carta da parati fiorata...nulla è fuori luogo! Le ragazze ti servono con gentilezza ed infondono serenità . Il tea più buono di Edimburgo e Scozia , L ho degustato qui. Lo scone più delizioso di tutta la Gran Bretagna, l’ho assaggiato qui. Shortbread, mint-bars, cakes, hot Chocolate...niente vi deluderà . Il top? Il freddo fuori e voi dentro al tavolo a ridosso della finestra sul miglio reale ❤️

It's a lovely place, the design was very appealing to us. We have read the reviews and thought it would worth a visit. It was quite busy but we waited to be seated. However, after our order still wasn't served for 30 minutes, we thought we would check. A few minutes later one of the waitresses said that they lost our order. They took it again and we were served in the next 10 minutes, but unfortunately, it wasn't the quality we expected. We ordered a pot of English tea but we were given 3 cups of tea. When we asked for a pot, we were given one with filter and not with tea leaves, like all the other tables. My sister originally ordered an apple pie but by the time they got to serve us, they ran out of it. All in all, it seemed to us that service was poor.

We happened to spot this wee spot on our way down the Royal Mike towards Holyrood Palace - what a find!! The best coffee cake I have had in a long time. Quite small and I suppose if could be very busy during peak season but well worth a visit. A great pot of tea!!

One word wow! Good old fashioned tea room with pleasant staff. Only downside? How do you choose what to eat??!! 😁. Don’t miss it!

Als je de pubs even wil overslaan, is het erg leuk om Clarinda's Tea Room te bezoeken. Je kan hier voornamelijk potjes thee bestellen en een gebakje. De typisch Engelse gebakjes worden iedere dag vers gemaakt en er is keuze genoeg.

desayunamos 2 días en esta cafetería y volveremos de nuevo cuando visitemos otra vez Edimburgo. El sitio está decorado con mucho gusto y al estilo típicamente inglés. las tartas están riquísimas y tienen gran variedad.

Loved this little spot along the Royal Mile. Popped in after a walking tour, following the advice of our tour guide. Absolutely loved everything on offer. Tried the banana bread, shortbread and scones - was most delicious. Friendly staffers to top. Highly recommend.

We arrived at 4.40 to read a hand written notice that said the place would close at 4.00 this day. We caught the attention of a girl who indicated that we could sit down and be served. We could see two servers working away in the background, drying cutlery and chopping but no sign of service. Clearly the focus was on prep for closing rather than on customer service. Eventually our order was taken and two cream teas ordered. Unless you specify that you want a pot of tea, a small, scarcely full tea cup appears which you can drink in two gulps. We were looking forward to the scones as home baking is advertised. Unfortunately, the scones disintegrated on the plate when cut. Nobody took any interest in our experience as clearly, the most important thing for the staff was to leave sharp. The tea room is quirky and very appealing to tourists not least because it’s located on the Royal Mile. Disappointing to be treated with such disinterest and be served such below average food. We won’t be going back anytime soon.

Ottima tea room lontana dal traffico del royal mile..chi arriva fino quaggiù ha proprio voglia di tranquillità e di un buon dolce! Ottimi gli scones, appena sfornati ed il the della casa. Prezzi buoni e gentilezza massima. Per quanto riguarda il locale, potrebbe essere il salottino di casa di una normale signora scozzese..il che lo rende un luogo davvero confortevole.

Sabe aquele restaurante aconchegante que você vê pela janela ao passar e dá vontade de entrar? Foi o caso do Clarinda's. Muito simpático, pequeno, bem decorado e com uma comida gostosa e a preços bons. Tem vários tipos de sopas e muitos doces. O atendimento foi muito simpático.

Amaging little tearoom in the center of the old town near Holyrood Palace. Very good sandwiches and cakes. I have eaten the best carrot cake of my life. Staff very nice and friendly.

Popped in for cream teas. On the good side there was no queue and we got a table very quickly. On the bad side there were no scones. The tea was nice and the service reasonable. I will try again and maybe be luckier with the scones.

Clarinda's is exactly what I envisioned a Scottish tea room to be: charming decor, attentive staff, and yummy tea/scones and soups/sammies. We stopped in after touring Edinburgh Castle and it was just what we needed on a cold, blustery day. We got in to Clarinda's just before traditional tea time so were seated immediately but it did fill up shortly thereafter. We had lentil soup, tea and scones and everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

We all enjoyed the warmth and hospitality from all the staff. Fantastic pastry and collectively, 5 of us gave a thumbs up to them.

Une décoration kitsch au plus au point, des mets comme si on était chez mami, un service chaleureux et impeccable, j'ai passé un très bon moment au Clarinda's. Mention spéciale pour les scones qui sont de loin, les meilleurs que j'ai mangé au UK.

Abbiamo fatto colazione qui un sabato mattina, subito all'apertura (orario che consiglio perché mezz'ora dopo ci sarebbe stato da aspettare per avere il posto). Si tratta di un locale piccolissimo dove tutto ha il sapore magico delle cose buone di una volta: il tè fatto bene, il servizio di porcellane finissime e diverse, i dolci fatti in casa, la colazione all'inglese. È tutto molto curato, molto soft, di quell'eleganza ormai rara. Bellissimo.

Wer plant, sich die Royal Mile anzusehen, der sollte vom Parlament starten und von dort erst einmal eine kurze Frhstückspause bei Clarinda einlegen. Ein Frühstück mit Rührei und Lachs ist dann der perfekte Start in den Tag. Dazu einen Brodies-Tee - perfekt.

Il locale è piccolo ma molto curato. Personale molto gentile. Si mangiano degli ottimi sandwich. Anche i dolci sono molto buoni. Consigliato!

Después de subir al asiento de Arthur encontramos este lugar y no nos decepcionó. Una gran variedad de pasteles caseros y una deliciosa taza de té hecha con hojas de té. No fue caro tampoco. Por eso es popular, estaba lleno el día que fuimos y la gente hacía cola para entrar. Práctico también no está lejos del Palacio de Holyrood.

Los manteles de encaje y la porcelana fina se suman a la experiencia auténtica. Decorado con gusto con papel tapiz floral, obras de arte y tapices con vistas al patio, este salón de té ofrece mucho. Gran variedad de delicias y puedo recomendar el bollo de frutas con mermelada y crema. Por desgracia, no hay té chai pero una buena variedad, no obstante. Servicio amable y tarjetas de crédito aceptadas.

We had read about Clarinda's, and felt fortunate to be able to find it and have tea! I ordered the Ploughman's lunch, delicious! We also had desserts, many to choose from, all were delicious. A must, go to Clarinda's!

Walked in on my last day in Edinburgh. I had to wait about 10mins for a seat as it was full. You have to share tables with others if it a big one but I didn’t mind.The waitresses were super busy and probably could have done with another helper but they were efficient and ran the place well I thought!Tea was lovely...I tried the lady grey and the tart I had was also delicious.Thank you for the experience! Ein ganz schnuckliges Tearoom in der Altstadt mit leckerem Essen und schöner Atmosphäre. Hier kann man gut eine kleine Pause einlegen, um sich von dem bergauf und bergab Edinburghs zu erholen.

Arrived to find the hours were slightly different than what was posted on either TripAdvisor or Yelp (9-16:30 M-Sat, 10-16:30 Sun) but after a short wait was able to order a quick and tasty breakfast. Got coffee, tea, the porridge w/ honey, scrambled eggs w/ toast, and scone with cream & jam. Everything tasted very good. The fruit scone was deliciously buttery! The service was great and the ambiance was delightful. Many locals stopped in while we were there on a Wednesday morning, which is also a good sign. Clarinda’s made a perfect breakfast stop on our way to tour Holyrood Palace! Would definitely go back next time we’re in town!

We stopped here for tea while visiting the Royal Mile and before our tour of Holyrood Palace. The scones were scrumptious! Quaint and charming atmosphere with good service too. The only negative was that we had to wait for a table, but it was worth it.

By good luck we happened into Clarinda’s Tea Room initially after the Horse March on Sunday 9/15 at the far end of the Royal MileWe really loved it Sunday so we decided to go again today, Thursday Named after Robert Burn’s mistress, Clarinda, the decor is totally a tribute to women and china; the walls are adorned by multiple old photographs, drawings, and pieces of eclectic china. We ordered scone with jam and clotted cream, tea for two, Carmel chocolate shortbread, Chocolate cake, apple pie with brumberry ala mode. For all the desserts: fresh, light, flavorful, and delicious The apples and brumberries were succulent and the scone perfect consistency Service was outstanding Price very reasonable Great way to end a walk from the castle down the Royal Mile as one heads to Holyrood Palace and GardensMust stop in

Locale in perfetto stile Shabby Chic, impreziosito da moltissimi dettagli (foto, decorazioni, ecc.) a tema. Vicinissimo a Holyrood Palace, dimora scozzese della regina (che infatti l'ha anche visitato, troverete una foto accanto alla porta), puoi facilmente immaginartela a sorseggiare un tè con uno scone seduta a uno dei tavolini!

We had a lovely time at Clarinda's Tea Room in a very authentic atmosphere. Highly recommend their scones and Scottish tea with a bit of milk. Simply delicious! The staff was also super friendly which made the whole experience even more pleasant!

My partner and I visited Edinburgh for the end of the Fringe. We had the afternoon tea which was delightful. Fantastic service and would visit again.
