Love this cafe! We got drinks and two soups including the Cullen Skink and they were both delicious. However the dessert was my favorite part, a traditional cranachan was fruity and not too sweet and just amazing. Not to mention both our servers were incredibly friendly.

Delicious food, very thoughtful staff, great atmosphere. God kissed the hands of those who cook and decorate the food here and, of course, create the menu and serve people!

Excellent service. Good place for breakfast with a variety of gluten free options. The service is amazing.

We stopped there by chance and were not disappointed. The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is warm and we enjoyed our breakfast/brunch (plus, the portions are really generous for really reasonable prices) It was perfect.

A little hidden gem. Lovely cozy homy place and great thing about it is it's not crowded, unlike other coffee place which is packed. Upon entering, the staff greet you. They are really friendly and accommodating, but not intrusive. Just did some coffee and did not try the food but it was really good. I love the ambiance and decor of the place, it's just lovely inside. In good weather there are seats outdoors. When I come back to Edinburgh, definitely going to visit again.

After our first breakfast at the hotel we wanted to try something different the next day and came across this wonderful cafe in the heart of Edinburgh. The best meal we've had in a long time and the service is incredibly courteous, friendly and authentic! Absolute recommendation!

Nipped in after a trip to Edinburgh Zoo for an early tea , relatives had the fish and chips and I had the chicken burger which was the biggest burger I have ever seen , delicious bun with salad , cheese , chicken and chilli jam with chips and coleslaw. Absolutely delicious. A jug of water was brought to the table without us asking which was well received after a full day at the zoo . The staff were really friendly and the food was exceptional. Definitely going to go back for the breakfast. Well worth a visit 😊

We used to run 6 am in the morning to have pancakes. It is worth try & super yummm!!

Service was great, we got the coffees, hot chocolates and one piece of the chocolate cake and it was good, we got it quick as well. However we asked for another piece of chocolate cake just after, and as there was only one left in the counter, they decided to cut that one into 2, which meant the second one we got was much much thinner than the first.. well..yes..half really but for the same price as the first one. I thought it was quite pathetic..did they think we were not going to notice? Really??

I got refused to buy a coke without any explanation and my friend was not allowed to go to the toilet.Can recommend you to go to this place only if you like to be treated like a piece of garbage.

Google search found this place as we were looking for a good Scottish cooked breakfast. We arrived and there was actually a queue to get in which meant it must be good. We were promptly seated after a short wait but let me tell you that wait was well worth it as this had got to be the best breakfast I’ve had in Scotland. The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and professional and the coffees were superb. This place is a must visit and I’ll definitely be heading back there next time I’m in Edinburgh

We had a lovely breakfast here with great service and interesting decor - I enjoyed looking at all the photos of Edinburgh and famous Scots whilst we were waiting our breakfast. The boys had a full Scottish breakfast and a hot chocolate and I had the porridge and berries. All wonderful. Thanks.

We visited for brunch twice over the busy 6 nations (rugby) weekend. The cafe is not fine dining, and is not pretending to be, but the food was excellent, hot, good portions and served courteously. Clearly I cannot comment on the experiences of those (relatively few) who have posted poor reviews, but my party and I found the food to be sustaining, and of decent quality, and staff very helpful in re-jigging a table for 4 to suit our party of 5. I didn't have an issue with the 10% service charge. Service was good enough that we would have tipped a similar amount in any case. Highly recommended!!

It's nice place to have a short break when walking through Old Town. Very friendly staff and yummy cakes although some food prices are far too high.

This Cafe is well worth going to for food. The menu has a great selection and the food is so delicious. Staff were so nice and helpful. The prices were very reasonable.

overpriced for the quality of food, only then to be hit with a 10% service charge to be added on your bill before you pay, so you are not paying a tip you are being charged it even if the service is poor, BEWARE GO ELSEWHERE.

Really good full Scottish breakfast, good coffee, great service and decent price. A first visit by chance as I was close by, and now definitely added to places I’ll detour to go back to. It turns out a good cafe on the Mile that isn’t a tourist trap is possible. Top marks.

During our stay in Edinburgh we returned several times for both breakfast and lunch. The breakfasts are wonderful, the place is charming and we always found a table. The food is delicious and the service very very good.

This cafe is a hidden gem. We first came here around 3 years ago, now every time we visit Edinburgh this is where we come for breakfast. The quality of the food is great and everything is delicious. The staff are really friendly and make you feel so welcome. Easily the best cafe in Edinburgh. Can’t wait to return!

Very expensive cafeteria for breakfast, two coffees with milk and two butter toasts £16. Very good service. It is one of the few bars that open at 7 in the morning on the royal mile.

The food was tasty and the coffee was perfect, we were served by Ana who made the whole experience that much better, she was so cheerful, quick with service and had a great conversation!

Incredible little cafe! The flat white was amazing and the art was a nice extra touch. We each had a roll with three toppings. Mine was served missing an item but they brought it out right away so no issue there. The portion was HUGE. Two eggs and two sausages, I was impressed. Highly recommend Cafe Edinburgh. Very polite staff as well. The first in the area that have actually chatted to us. It was really nice.

Fives across the board! The service is so warm and inviting which was matched by the food. It's a nice set up with seating tucked away all the way in the back. Every dish we had was impressive. I'd recommend the soup of the day and traditional Scottish plates.

We went for breakfast and the service was lovely. All the team worked together and really good. The tall guy that was there he was nice and sweet and very attentive, he really cares about customers service. We order some croissants and the Full Scottish breakfast and was nice and tasty. They have vegetarian options. Coconut, almond,soya and oat milk.

On the first visit to Edinburgh and out of the hotel on the cobbles street and the first place to eat turns out to be a gem. Had the full Scottish breakfast-it is a very good experience and such that landed back the next day again for the same. Also had the Angus Burger and was yummy. Great service and nice little cafe

We were booked across the road at Edinburgh Larder, a return visit from last year and booked months in advance… Shortly after being seated, I’d moved my chair to the other side of the table as had no room to eat.. the waiter then came over and abruptly asked me to move back… as I was attempting to do this and move my coat, he came back and said… I’ve just asked you to move!!! The table behind heard the whole conversation and were looking over in disgust at the way I was spoken to and I was utterly embarrassed and tearful at the way I’d been spoken to, we got up and left. We then found this little gem across the road!!! Lovely, friendly, attentive staff, all polite, considerate, smiling and couldn’t do enough… a great start… then came the food!! Utterly delicious….. can’t recommend enough 🥰

Food was delicious and the Italian lady was so lovely All the staff were but special mention to her. We had the full Scottish Breakfast and the Rabbie Poached eggs but added some bacon which was a great choice. . Would definitely recommend! Oh the ginger and lemon tea was great too!

Brilliant little cafe, food was delicious! But what really made us enjoy our visit was how accommodating and friendly they were, especially with our one year old daughter. Straight away we were given toys and books for her to play with whilst we ordered and waited for food and all the lovely waitresses interacted with her which she absolutely loved. Nothing felt like too much trouble for the staff!

The breakfast is very good, the waitress was so friendly and it’s very cosy and you can sit anywhere as most restaurants in Edinburgh, they tell you where to sit. We came back at lunchtime again for the chocolate cake and cappuccinos, so sad it was our last day and this cafe was the best!

On 11th November, my wife and I visited this Cafe. Today was our first visit. About 5 years, although we saw, we never visited to this Cafe. Yesterday, we wanted to drink tea or coffee. So, we visited to this Cafe. All staff’s ladies were very good. And our ordered drinks were very good. Looking forward to having lunch or dinner soon! Thank you!

I would not eat here again, I had the breakfast about 1 pm but it tasted like it had been there since 6 am ,the bacon is not bacon like a ham a teaspoon of beans and the rest was just not nice but I will say the staff were very nice and friendly and the cafe looked clean tidy and nice.

The Royal Mile has SO many cafes and places to eat so we are so glad we chose Cafe Edinburgh when we needed some lunch. We were seated quickly, our food came in a flash by incredibly nice and attentive staff, and everything was so fresh and tasty. Nicely done!

Mid-afternoon snack and pick-me-up, and chose this place randomly. So glad we did! The iced tea was the best on our trip, and the scones were AMAZING! — warm, texture just right, with butter and jam. And the service was both pleasant and quick. A high point of our day!

Great cafe on the Royal mile. Had breakfast there twice - bacon and haggis rolls! Perfectly cooked bacon, huge pot of tea. My wife’s (eggs Rabbi), salmon, avocado and poached eggs, excellent. The “full Scottish” looked huge, but the couple next to us managed two. Incredibly friendly staff. Sat outside this morning looking up the Royal Mile can’t fault it.

This cafe was so warm and friendly, as soon as we sat down there was a lovely server came and welcomed us, it was very clean and fresh with some lovely old pictures and phrases on the wall, we will definitely be going there again and will be telling family and friends about it.

Amazing experience! We went twice - for brunch and for breakfast - we just had to come back. We had eggs benedict, pancakes with Nutella and strawberries, and more - I cannot remember. The portions are generous, the food tastes so good. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The place is clean and the atmosphere makes you feel right at home. Would definitely come back next time I am in town and would highly recommend to all my friends.

We arrived in Edinburg after a red eye and happened upon this little gem for breakfast. Great diverse menu and wonderful service. Get the fresh squeezed orange juice with whatever meal you order!
