Work at sullom voe. Like most guys don't get finished till 7pm. Missing out on big sales as they close at 7pm. Don't know chippy that closes this early. Big loss...

Wait a very long time for your meal / takeaway. On arrival, the staff were very rude, snappy & weren't conducting themselves in a customer/hospitality friendly way. It was like they were doing us a favour. Food was okay when it arrived - presentation was average. Considering the hype about the place it was a poor experience for my family & I.

Simply the best fish and chips ever.

Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. There were a range of typical fish & chips meal options as well as fresh shellfish also. The availability of a gluten free-only fryer was a real bonus as someone with coeliac disease, so I would recommend Frankie’s to anyone with a similar dietary requirement. The view from the restaurant was also a real bonus.

Worth booking this place if you want to eat in. We had mussels to share at start, very good with white wine sauce. Decent portion, for two, £10. We each had fish and chips. I had regular batter which was crisp, clean tasted and lovely haddock. The chips were my favourite, soft fluffy inside. I had home made mushy peas. Partner had gluten free batter and I thought it was actually good (partner who has not tasted real batter in 31 yrs thought it superb). Service very good, great place.

Unfortunately I can't rate the food as we didn't get chance to buy any. As we had a dog with us I went in to ask whether the outside area was open and could we possibly sit out there. On asking, a lady who had her back to me the whole time simply said no its been raining. At this point the weather was sunny and I would have been happy to wipe down the seats and table myself. Another member of staff asked whether I'd like a take out which I declined as we were on foot and hadn't seen anywhere to sit and eat. Had we have walked back to our accommodation the food would have been cold. I felt I had to comment just to bring attention to the rude dismissive attitude of the first member of staff. Something I have not encountered on Shetland previously. I would not return.

Take away with a small indoor and outdoor seating area. I had panko breaded scampi and chips. Just the right portion size and really good quality. It is the country's most northerly fish and chip shop but it isn't trading off it's location it has really excellent food. I was on a 2 holiday and this was the best and most reasonably priced meal I had. I wish I could come here every week!

Nothing special. Haddock was good, cornered average, scallops were overcooked and not that fresh. Prices were high for a fish and chips place.

Delicious fish supper. I had the breaded haddock and it was top notch. They even give you a buzzer so you know when to collect your takeaway. They also have an app so you can preorder your food. Was very busy but staff were great. Also recommend the Orkney fudge cheesecake for a wee dessert after.

We really enjoyed the food here, so we visited twice within 2 weeks, on our way up to Unst then coming back on the ferries. We arrived after 6.30pm so we could not sit in, but were happy to eat their yummy food in our motorhome. Only one comment, as Aussie's we feel we need to protect our New Zealand cousins given we are ANZAC's....there is a spelling error of the NZ capital on Frankie's advertising sign...its Auckland not Aukland...just saying ha ha ha...

Frankie's fish and chips was wonderful. Panko bread crumbed haddock and golden chips all cooked perfectly. Absolutely met my expectations. Recommended.

Second time eating here in a week. Has made it into my top 3 fish and chip shops, and very near the top, and I should know, I've eaten in quite a few. Superbly light batter and fresh fish, oh and the mussels were top notch as well.

Good but not great. I have been here before and the trick is to get the fish right out of the fryer. If it sits in the warming tray for even half a minute then the batter starts to get soggy. Also I think their batter recipe has changed. It used to be a bit better.

We had seen a documentary on the French TV showing the reporter having battered scallops at an award-winning fish and chips on Shetland. That was a few years ago and the dream came true this week. Excellent. Even better than expected. First class.

We turned up without a booking (failure on our part) but the lovely staff got us a table and ordered. Food was delicious, well presented and great price. The staff we encountered were all lovely. When we return to Shetland next may we will book in advance. Thank you again for fitting us in. We were tired after a long day island hopping.

Amazing location and clearly very popular, though be aware that it closes early...sitting in ends at 6pm and takeaways at 7pm. We were glad we booked! Top marks for having a home-made vegetarian option...a very acceptable chickpea burger.

Wonderful service, always quick. Great fish and chips and chicken, also has the best pizza in Shetland. Plenty of parking.

Fantastic food to eat at home, even after microwave reheat!

Don't always get to go to Frankies but when we do it never disappoints us. Fish was very fresh could tell by how easy it fell apart and the batter was nice and crispy, price seems very fair too. Ever visiting Shetland try and make it upto Frankies. Won't be disappointed!

This place was just perfect. It had something for everyone. You can get chicken nuggets, pizza, battered fish, soup, pastries, coffee, or fresh mussels. Fantastic Moccoran mussels are out of this world. We are staying in Limerick and drove the 20 minutes to go here, and it was absolutely worth it.

Simply this: one the best pates of fish, chips and mushy peas I have ever eaten. Super fresh battered haddock, chips just right, homemade mushy peas. Service very pleasant, fairly basic eating area, but what can you expect in a fish & chop shop?

Good food let down by service and poor communication. We’d been looking forward to dinner here all day. We ordered 3 sets of fish and chips and were handed a buzzer to tell us when it would be ready. While we waited we sat at one of the many outdoor tables, but we were a bit puzzled why other customers were having their food brought to the tables rather than using the buzzers. When the time came we collected our boxes from the counter and returned to our outdoor table, and were just tucking in when a gruff man came and told us we weren’t allowed to have takeaway meals at the tables. We explained that when we ordered nobody asked us whether we wanted to sit in or take away, and we also pointed out that there were plenty of free tables. He said that it costs more to sit in so we’d have to leave. This put a bit of a downer on the whole experience sadly!

Clean and modern restaurant and take out. Was busy when visited. Fish ok, good but not best i have had. Chips were thick, but lacking the "chippy" taste i like. Worth going to if passing, but i wouldnt make a special trip.

Frankie's Fish and Chips is famous and award winning for a reason. The cripiest and lightest fish and chips ever and consistently so. There food is always very good here but the dining room is very small and they do get busy so if you want to eat there I would make a reservation. They also close quite early so be sure to plan ahead. But you can also take your food to go and this is a beautiful area so it's not a burden to take your food outside and eat with a beautiful view. If you are in Shetland, you really should visit at least once on your trip. My FIL had the black pudding and he loved it.

What a great dine in or take out experience. We enjoyed lunch so much that we came back for dinner that evening! The service was cordial, the food was tasty and made our mouths water. And you got a nice view from the window walls. The dining area inside is small but there is an outside seating available. Many locals were in ordering take-out. Our food was served promptly and was hot. We would be regulars if we lived in the area! The establishment sells mugs, bags, and tin cups if you desire. A must stop in place to add to your journey through the Shetlands!

After removing the breading and soaking up the grease in a napkin the fish was very good. Sadly I am unable to eat deep fried foods. Cute place, glad I went.

We wanted to dine in but all tables were reserved (17:30ish) so we opted to take away and eat in the car. Quickly prepared. Excellent fish and chips. Excellent mussels. Amazing mushy peas. Very nice tea (English breakfast). Definitely recommend, and would go back. 😁

Not a place to go to for takeaway food, £15.00 for a very small piece of fish with reheated chips that were scraps, black pudding burnt to a crisp and well overpriced, I spoke to the jolly frier .he said potatoes 🥔 were £25. 00 a bag well I must of got the cuttings. Offered me fresh chips but I declined, shame 🫠 on them. You reply is incorrect the plate I showed was after I had put most of the scraps in my own motorhome bin , It was clear to me you had the hump at being question about the quality and (takaway) quantity of your portions. PS my wee dogs 🐕 did not even want the scraps you sold me. This review is as all mine are honest, Sorry if you don't like it. Ps not the only poor review.

Tried the battered smoked haddock supper. A bit strong for my liking. Otherwise the chips were excellent as was the service.

Terrible. Old chips, burger bun so covered in sauce it disintegrated...paid for portion of onion rings not in the box. Fish batter saturated with fat. Overpriced. The local seagulls did better than we did, there's was at least free.

It will cause arguments but for me the best fish and chips in Shetland. Bit of a wait. And pricy for fish and chips but worth it. Recommend booking if you want to sit in so that should give you an idea of how good it is.

Went two days in a row because the menu is quite extensive and I was curious! First day found a table on the lovely terrace and had mussels with a traditional white wine sauce which was extremely flavorful along with an overly sweet sweet potato soup. Big portions too--great value. The flowing day was Sunday at 430pm and I did not have a table booking and was not seated (it was raining so no seating outside), fine but fair warning to book on weekends! More frustrating was I ordered fish and chips to go--had to pay for tartar sauce and ketchup on side which are complimentary if you dine in. Along with a lemon wedge No lemon or peas included either. Just fish and chips. Further I asked if they had vinegar to go which they said they did but instead sprinkled it all over everything before handing to me which made everything soggy. Overall a poor value with takeaway would not do again. Dine in only and plan ahead! If you make it at least staff are all incredibly friendly.

Stopped off on spec and the staff were helpful and got us a table even although it was busy. Shared a fish supper between us and it was excellent. Really fresh fish.

Same as others have mentioned. Take away portions are very small - usually the chips are piled high to make up for a small fish, but not here. The haddock was also small - a little bit of fish lost in a lump of batter. Disappointed and won’t be rushing back. Especially at £13 a go.

Absolutely Delicious! So happy to have found a fish and chip place that proposes fresh gluten free haddock with delicious chips! As a newly diagnosed coeliac it has been awhile since I had battered fish because the other fish and chips in the UK do not propose gluten free options. I have to come more often to Shetland for Frankie's Fish & Chips. Thank you and again very good food (recommend also pan fried scallops)
