The best restaurants in Shetland Islands Highlands and Islands

I'm always on the look out for something different and this quaint tea shop in the wilds of Shetland fits the bill. I had the Victoria sponge, which was excellent. The café has a warm comforting ambience and the staff and service are excellent.

went with two of my favourite people. Got served by this lovely two. One who recommended me the tomato soup - i hadn’t tried before, which was amazing!!!! I couldn’t decide between the tattie or tomato so they let me try both out a small pot. I was also served a lovely scone heated up with butter 💗 amazing lovely customer service - brilliant envirmoment. Very humble and cozy Also managed to get a amazing steal from the good as new shop 💖💖💖

Having walked up to Sumburgh Head lighthouse on a cold, rainy and windy January day, there was nothing more welcoming than the sight of Katja's coffee and cake bus. As it was just the two of us, we actually sat inside and spent a very pleasant half hour chatting to Katja and enjoying the good strong coffee and the very lovely cake as we sheltered from the weather. If you are visiting the lighthouse, definitely grab a coffee here, it's quirky, she's lovely and the coffee and cake are top notch.

5 stars is way too low. So so good. We came for breakfast our first day in Lerwick and loved it. They were so welcoming and the breakfast was great so we came back again the next day for some cake and coffee. We had the lemon drizzle cake and it was easily the best lemon drizzle we've ever had. The wonderful lady who was working at the till when we came in brought over a no bake lemon cake which was equally as good. Definitely a must visit during your time in lerwick and we can't reccommend the cake enough!

We had lunch at Isle Eat today. Fantastic fish and chips (generous portions!) served by a lovely, smiley waitress. Desserts being served to other customers looked yummy but too full to try any. Would certainly recommend.

Can't be too harsh on a food van but I really expected better. Horrible tasting burger, fully processed and cheapest meat. Tesco value condiments (clearly on display!), the worst processed sliced cheap plastic cheese. Did laugh at "Chicken Loaded Fries" on the menu for £9!!! Comical price.

We found Hand Made Fish, the croft smokehouse of David Parham, a true delight. David smokes salmon that he carefully selects from Orkney and Shetland fish suppliers. He is passionate about smoking salmon to perfection, and what counts most is to always improve. Our visit to his smokehouse in Bigton, Maywick, was a unique food experience. He told us stories, explained the smoking process and offered us a fascinating tasting experience that learned us how different the pieces of his artisan salmon taste: tail, head, side, body. What a discovery! Everyone of our family, adults and kids, really enjoyed David’s stories and his wonderful smoked salmon. Simply the best salmon we ever had! A few days later we had the luck to also taste David’s smoked haddock he was so kind to deliver us in Lerwick. We poached it in butter and milk, ate it with potatoes and poached eggs, and loved it!

I’m not a huge marshmallow fan, but their marshmallows are insanely good! The cinnamon ones are amazing. Loved the puffin poo and hot chocolate as well. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent cafe in a great location with beautiful views from all tables. Service was fast and polite, drinks arrived quickly with the food not too far behind. Food was all quality products. Will be back for another visit

This is a wonderful place to stay directly across from Lerwick via ferry. The room was clean and comfortable with a great shower. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay. The ferry to and from Lerwick runs frequently and the ride is short. It is only a couple minutes walk from the hotel to the ferry terminal. The owners are super friendly and obviously work hard to make their hotel comfortable.

Absolutely fantastic fish and chips. I traveled here all the way from New Zealand because I heard that these are undoubtedly the best f&c on earth. I was not lied to. Frankie's should should be the Scottish capital. Shetland is worth visiting just for this. Get em in ya

5 start has to come out again for the Shetlands visit. These people know about spices. The photos say it all.

Our holiday hosts recommended this place and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Lovely coffee, nice pancakes and a great ambiance contributed to by the friendly, hard working staff. The toilets too wee spotlessly clean.....a great experience from start to finish.
