Been going to Allan's for about 50+ years and food still fantastic good prices .

We go there quite often for the afternoon tea menu, which is really cheap for three courses. There is a good choice on the menu. It is a bit more expensive after 4pm but still cheap compared to other similar places. Staff are friendly and take your order quickly. Food is piping hot, and the homemade peas, served with certain options, are much nicer than the garden/mushy peas served in most places. I highly recommend this place for a great, cheap meal when in Paisley.

I went into get myself and my grandkids macaroni as I would give Allan's 5 stars for food the waitress brought overand told the kids that the food was very warm which you would expect but my granddaughter of 7yrs touched the dish the food was in and burnt two of her fingers when I told the boss of the chippy what happened he proceeds to say she was told it was roasting I said she's 7yrs and expected her food to be roasting not the dish it was in so parents need to look out for the plates /bowls the food is served in as the boss blamed my 7yrs old granddaughter

Excellent food service and great 3 course deal

Food is always freshly cooked and the staff are absolutely lovely, this is definitely one of our favourite places to eat, I'm so glad my husband grandmother introduced him to this wee place all those years ago ❤️

Lovely place. Came to Scotland for the first time and had my first meal there, staff always helpful, specially that charming woman (with yellow and green hair). Came back the next day with my folks to try something else on the menu and loved the food. Loved the food and the fast service. That’s too bad that I couldn’t get to thank them and say goodbye as I’m leaving Scotland on a Sunday.

Had lunch yesterday,was delicious I had lasagne which was as nice as Cardosis next door,my husband had the haddock tea he said it was delicious and really filling.Will defo be back.

Been to Allan's on many occasions, and thoroughly enjoy the food. Last Saturday night we were there and our experience was spoiled by one of the brother owners shouting at staff members and then hearing his raised voice berating staff in the back of the shop. I would not like any member of my family spoken to like that, and definitely would think twice about going back. For the record our service was great, young blonde haired girl was wonderful with our table.

Just had lunch menu of Lentil soup, fish, chips and real peas with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce. Excellent food, value and service with a smile. Total gem of a place.

This is maybe the 5th or 6th visit and yet again we have not been disappointed. The staff are always cheerful and happy, and always ask how we are, we usually get the lunch tea menu which is a fantastic £6.50 for 3 courses. We start with the delicious home made soup and bread, then my other half often gets the fish, chips and peas, I love the sausage, egg, chips and beans, and you always get a tattie scone too. Then Ice cream to finish, with a lovely pot of tea. We brought my dad this time, he doesn't live nearby so we treated him to the lovely atmosphere and old fashioned setting. He was impressed. The coal fire was lit, because it was cold and windy outside, so seeing this when we entered was a bonus. We love looking at all the old pictures on the walls.

Absolutely love this place, me and the Mrs quite often grab a takeaway from here on the way home. Her work is just next door. Food is well priced and delicious. Highly recommended.

What more could you want great food, great price and it's like visiting your grannies house Went fo lunch £6.50 yes £6.50 so what do you get A bowl of lentil soup, better than ma grannies indeed better than most folks grannies it comes wi bread n butter, pan bread ( just like ma grannie) Fish and chips with real mushy peas not the rubbish you get in a tin And a pot of tea. Brilliant.

First time back here since before COVID. Still the same, brilliant food, excellent staff and great prices. Fish tea is brilliant and the portion sizes are excellent. A great place that is regularly busy but has more than enough room for and tables well laid out.

I was in tonight with a friend and had the macaroni cheese and chips. It was delicious and a good portion size too. Service was excellent as well. Will be back for more!

Entered Allan’s and witnessed 2 young workers being spoken to by the bosses disgustingly speaking down to them. Certainly wouldn’t recommend working in this chip shop

Always freshly prepared, you will normally have to wait for your food to be cooked..but it's worth the wait.

Great food, nice people, Good selection on menu.

Just had a sausage supper and my son had a portion of chips. Happily answered my question about allergies (thank you) and the service was friendly and fast. The chips were delicious, crisp on outside and fluffy inside. Sausages were coated with just enough batter, not too greasy either. Best chippy in Paisley!

What a place ,we've been coming here a few years now ' maybe once or twice a month but wish it was more ,A warm welcome from the fantastic staff the minute you walk in ,the delicious food, the absolute quality for the price you'll pay ,11/10 if I could ❤️👌

This is a great little cafe which is attached to a fish and chip shop. You will be served traditional food, which I can honestly say is among the best chip shop grub in the entire country! The prices are very reasonable, the service is warm and friendly and the decor is fantastic! Well worth a visit!

Place is legendary. I've been going since I was 6/7 yrs old after the swimming baths. Fish tea is famous. Staff are always friendly, and the decor is still very art deco and brings back long-held memories of visits I've made over the past 50 or more years. Highly recommended

Had a fish tea with my mum there tonight. Portions were wow! The staff were lovely and courteous and couldn't do enough for you despite being run off their feet. Lots of nostalgia. Used to frequent some Saturdays when I was a little girl with my mum and aunt after being in the town. Dropped in for chips after being in Paisley storie street baths. Was a real treat!

Alan's Snack Bar is an absolute gem, and my recent visit was made even more delightful thanks to the amazing Cameron in the kitchen. His dedication and warmth truly shone through in the delicious dishes he prepared. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was a truly memorable day. I can't recommend this place enough! Have never been disappointed. No snobbery just good honest food.

For something a bit whacky, we held our wedding meal in Allan's Snack Bar. Our gueats had no idea where the meal was and it was a complete surprise for them. Cannot priase Stefano and all the team too highly. The food was fantastic and delivered efficiently with huge smiles. Our guests are still raving about their experience. Traditional Scottish chippie. Stuffs great. Fresh cooked. I used to get chips here when the Baths were down the road (about 55 years ago) and still enjoy a fish tea. The special fish supper is huge but amazing.

Fabulous fish tea... loved the surroundings... reminded me of a proper old-fashioned sit-in cafe...

Anytime my wife and myself are in Paisley we tend to pop in it's cheap and cheerful, in saying that i do have a moan about the price of a pot of tea and the price of a small bottle of coke, I'll not go into it, I'll let you judge for yourselves the next time you Pop in but, for everything else, top marks. Top marks for the chicken curry, absolutely wonderful.

Brilliant love the food, also love how family has kept some of the old decor which I remember as a kid.

Lovely chippy with a lunchtime menu that is great value. Lentil soup is delicious. My friends raved about the macaroni cheese and chicken curry. We had great service and would recommend for an informal lunch at a budget price.

Was initially put off by the name, but very pleasantly surprised at the range and quality of food. Service was excellent and old photos of owner? Added to the charm. If I had a (minor) criticism it would be the tables are cramped, but I guess this is a validation of popularity

Just had my lunch at Allan's. Good smallish menu. I had soup with bread and butter, fish chips and peas. I swapped my dessert for a cup of tea. All for a very reasonable price.

Visited Allan's on Friday, my husband has been going since childhood and in turn we have taken our children and Grandchildren. We ordered fish tea, haddock. Pleasant service but the chips were stone cold ( same on last visit). Waitress apologised and brought a plate of fresh chips, a disaster, a plate of greasy horrible chips. The haddock was lovely. Not good enough at the price. waitress apologised again but when people pay for food, the quality should be consistent. She said they had been busy. No excuse .. The toilets were a disgrace, My trousers were soaking as toilet flooded, The other one filled to the brim when flushed. 😱Not exactly what you expect. The waitress " told them" but zero notice taken. I'm afraid we will take a long break in the hope they get it together. Such a shame, was always the best.

Gutted to be writing a review like this for such a smashing place :( Our Haddock teas were phenomal and our service was great even though the girls were running about mad for a Friday! We had salad with our haddock and both went for a white coffee instead of tea. Finished off with an Oreo sundae between us which was just delicious! What put a dampener on the evening was the way the man frying was speaking to the staff. This was not the usual man I’ve seen on a Friday night frying, but seen him before. He was constantly getting on at staff and at one point heard him dig into an employee for no reason at all it seemed. As we were leaving he was arguing with staff at takeaway counter for letting someone else do the till? Staff looked fed up and it made the place seem like a different shop. Really feel for the ladies If this is what they deal with. Will be back again in hopes that this was a one off, but tainted my view of a personal fave for sure :(

Amazing place that's famous throughout the world. I was traveling in the middle east and all they kept shouting was 'Alans snack bar' over and over.

Growing up in Scotland I've have a strong relationship with the traditional fish and chips shop. They don't have the best food around not by any stretch of the imagination but it's cheap and they bring back a lot of nostalgic memories and Allan's snack bar is no different. The taste is great for what is it and the prices are fair and reasonable. The portions could be larger but I have never left feeling wanting. I highly recommend sitting in, as they have two dining rooms and lovely staff that will be happy to serve you right at your table. Overall, if you're looking for a decent chippy in the Paisley area it's hard to go wrong with this one.

Used to go there with my Dad on Fridays and eat out chips on the way home talking about 1960 was so pleased my cousin took me there for lunch great memories.

Controversial opinion but the best chippy in town for me - edges over the Nutini one with nicer batter and better chips (although both are rather good). As a Grimsby (town that used to be the biggest fishing port in the world) boy I know a good fish & chips when I taste one and this place does knows how to do one!

Amazing food!!! I ordered the katsu chicken curry with half rice half chips. Huge portion! Tasted amazing and the service was top draw too. I wanted to try the deep fried mars bar sundae but was too full ha. If I’m working up here again I ll defo be coming back. Check it out you won’t be disappointed

Allan's used to be great , it's gone down hill by serving really thin fish . Mushy peas were wattery and chips weren't that great. Will maybe give it one more go. In the meantime I will go to the one on New street.

Perhaps I haven’t visited all the cities and towns in Scotland besides Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Oban… but this was the best fish and chips for me 12 years ago and it is still the best on the earth.
