The best restaurants in South West Scotland

What a little gem! Like others have said, don’t judge a book by its cover. This place does the most incredible sandwich’s and fresh cakes with a view! I think there’s only outside seating and be prepared to wait a short while as it’s popular and everything is made to order, but honestly, go out of your way to visit - you won’t regret it. I had the minute smoked salmon sandwhich - delicious!

I can’t remember the last time I was so impressed by a meal. My impression is that the food is like one of those Masterchef pop-up street food venues. I’ve never experienced one of those but if I did it couldn’t possibly be better than this.

Decided on a spot of lunch so headed here, we had a delightful lunch, served relatively quickly and the food was fresh. Washed down with a coffee and after a little visit to a rather unique little gift shop. Well done all.

A France meets Ayr night at The Bistro-gorgeous cocktails;interesting menu- onion soup,duck,bourguignon and fish were beautifully cooked; service was,as always,immaculate. Thanks to the whole team for a really lovely evening- looking forward to the next one.

Food was outstanding. Service from everyone was great and with a smile. Every course was perfect and the timing of the food was spot on.

So pleased we came across this cafe. Delicious, all Vegan home cooked food. The breakfast was wonderful, made to order and not a quorn sausage in sight! Coffee was perfect and the staff very friendly. It’s no surprise to see they have won awards. 😊

Sadly the Biggar Flavour bakery shop closed on 29 June 2019. The owners continue to operate "The Orchard" next door where some of their bakery products are still made available along with jams, preserves, etc. The main difference is that they no longer provide sandwiches, ready made meals or hot savoury items.

Stumbled across lovely Dunure while camping in Ayr and popped in here to grab a coffee and a sandwich. We all absolutely loved it - great coffee, really good food and proper home made chips. All the staff were friendly and smiley, we felt really relaxed and left happy and well fed.

Can't recommend Mibbies Aye highly enough. Great friendly service and the best rolls around! Sneaked in a few cakes as well as they all looked so good. Great coffee to wash it all down. Got to give this place a try if your in the Hamilton area!

Solo viernes y sábado a la hora de comer. La comida es excelente, vamos la mayoría de los fines de semana, y Jack es un gran anfitrión, nada es un problema con él. Seguiremos apoyando a este maravilloso restaurante.

Fabulous setting in summer for outdoor dining. Always best to book. Indoor seating also great especially window seats

Fantastic breakfast rolls. Great range and variety of veg and vegan. Excellent service. The quality of food is a level above local rivals.

Phoned up last minute for a burger & cake. Station bistro did not disappoint 🤤 I got a chicken burger with halloumi, bacon with slaw & maple syrup with sesame seeds for on my burger. The bun was toasted just the right amount, chicken was cooked too perfection.. Bacon was just the right amount of crisp and the halloumi was also fab (usually halloumi can be a hit or miss and quite rubbery anywhere else) but I would highly recommend getting it on your burger. I have a very sweet tooth and the biscoff brownie hit the spot. The staff are so lovely aswell. Will 110% be back ❤️
