Sorry this review is late but can I say we stopped off to watch the play off final( national league England) and we were made to feel so welcome by the lad behind the bar whose name I'm embarrassed to say I cant remember. I must say the locals on the day were fabulous and were fellow Poolies by the end!
As far as the place itself it's a proper pub, clean ,good beer good craic and very very freindly atmosphere if ever we go back over that way it will definitely be a place to visit
Visited on Friday evening with friends . The food was amazing . I had tandoori duck it was absolutely delicious. Everyone really enjoyed their meal . The service was 1 st class . Reasonably priced . Will return soon .
I cannot recommend this place enough, it is spotlessly clean. Served by excellent staff and the food is delicious, presented well and reasonably priced. The general ambiance was relaxed and although I’m not keen on tv screens, they weren’t over bearing.
I would definitely revisit as they allowed our pooches in. If their bedrooms are as clean and as good as their food is - it would be a great place to stay!
We were lucky to arrive before the coaches did so more or less had the place to ourselves.
Very good value for money. A single cheese melt in the high street would set you back £12, without a coffee.
We went for the tea for two at the wool mill for £18.
There was enough to feed 4 and the same with the coffee we chose.
The staff are all kind and down to Earth. They provided us with a box that we could take the excess cakes we couldn't eat.
It was the Christmas tea for two which included the turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches.
Too much cranberry for me so made the sandwiches a bit too much like jam sandwiches for me.
This aside, I would recommend and will return.
Was all good and well worth the money.
Home made mince pies and scones were very good.
My family called in for a meal on our way home from Scotland. The boy who served us, Dylan, definitely deserves a five star rating. Nothing was too much trouble and he made sure we had everything we needed. The menu choice was very good and very large servings! I would definitely recommend a meal here.
Stumbled upon this little gem when staying nearby for the Easter weekend, and glad we did. Visited twice over the weekend and the standard was equally as high on the second visit. Steaks cooked to perfection and the burger we had was amazing, not your normal processed patties either. The staff were very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Right at the side of the A75 with plenty of parking. Can’t recommend this place enough, will definitely be back.
Absolute disgrace! I went in to ask for a portion of the sandwich filling without any roll (coronation chicken to be exact) and was refused. I asked for this due to dietary restrictions and was refused it by the staff member serving and the other person who was working in the kitchen. Having previously been a regular and it not being an issue. I’ll never return again. And for Marchbanks to not even be able to justify the reason is so wrong. Clearly refusing to cater for individuals. Shocking. Would love to know how they think they can justify that.
My SILaw Betty & I had a lovely lunch at the Leadmines Cafe. Food was fantastic cooked by Nicky and extremely tasty. Rory made a lovely cup of Herbal tea to go with the lunch. Lovely staff!!
Wanlockhead is a lovely place to go with the rolling hills and beautiful wee new born lambs running all over the fields. We had a first class trip to Wanlockhead and will go back again.

Visited these guys for breakfast whilst staying locally.
We received a warm welcome from the staff who were friendly and professional.
They have a couple of good breakfast veggie options, as well as soya and oat milk, we went for the veggie breakfast and the avocado on toast.
They were doing something with the smoke alarms when we were there, so that caused a bit of a din, but didn't really detract from our visit.

The meal arrived at an acceptable temperature and had an appealing aroma, creating initial expectations. However, the overall experience was unfortunately impacted by the cleanliness of the establishment. The floors were not well-maintained, and a tray showing signs of mould raised significant concerns about hygiene.
The doner meat fell short of expectations, exhibiting a rubbery texture and lacking the freshness one would anticipate from a quality takeaway. Based on this, it warrants a rating of 4/10.
The chips with cheese, while decent, could have benefitted from a more generous portion of cheese. As it stood, the dish was satisfactory but not remarkable, earning a score of 5/10.
In conclusion, while the food was not entirely unpleasant, the subpar food quality and hygiene issues make it difficult to recommend or return to this establishment.
