This was our first visit under new ownership. We were late in the day but were lucky to get our choices. I opted for ham roast and soup and the wife went for turkey. There were one or two issues with the service but the owner discounted our bill and I got my diet coke on the house. We also were given scones butter and cream for free. Overall we were delighted with our lunch so would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone and will definetely come back.
We called in on our way to Hawick from Tain as we needed to break up our journey in the van and to photograph the bridge. The staff were super friendly and helpful and chatty and the cappuccino and mocha was perfect. We ordered food and it arrived at our table and was served with a smile. The food was cooked to perfection. If your in a camper or motorhome park down the road in the carpark and spend a couple of hours around the area as it is a beautiful place with a few shops and great photography opportunities.
Parfait pour un repas en famille très bons produits on recommande.
A la sortie belle ballade avec une vue magnifique entoure de moutons qui se promènent...
We were so excited to visit Leakey's, even before our trip to Scotland. Unfortunately the moment I walked in with my 3 children, I was met with a rude comment from the older man (presumably the owner) working behind the counter. "This is a bookshop, NOT a playground," he said in a gruff voice. I was taken by surprise because I mind my children very well and we had only just walked in. My children are homeschooled and I try to instill a deep love of books in them. Small readers grow up to be adult readers. Anyway, I told him that I was well aware and we went upstairs with my kids to look around. We ended up leaving after just 5 minutes because I really didn't feel right spending money there after that exchange and for some reason he decided to make yet ANOTHER unnecessary comment on our way out the door. "Not really an appropriate place for children, is it?" His tone was very unkind. My poor 6-year-old was in tears because he had been so excited and just didn't understand why he was so unwelcome. I do understand not disturbing shoppers and being mindful of your children but I really can't understand people who get upset for children just existing in a space. A very unpleasant experience.
Limited menu, slow service and when I requested to customize the burger, they assured me that they would make these changes. However, they brought out the burger as it was advertised on the website without having customised it accordingly. I ate it and it was okay but it had a funny taste from the onion chutney which I had asked for to be removed. Deserts were amazing, they don't hold back with the cheese filling in the cheesecake and it is very scrumptious, however tea is served cold and when we needed more milk, they waiter took 5 minutes and by this time the coffee was not drinkable for love nor money! Pretty expensive but sort of worth it, would just appreciate if my request was followed through.
The food was very good and we didn't have to wait long. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. The person with blue hair serving us was very helpful and kind.
If definitely recommend it, especial the waffles and cinnamon swirl
Thank you
Really chuffed with this place. I love to visit independent cafes & restaurants & am so glad we came across this.
The food was delicious & the atmosphere was beautiful. They have a wide range of brunch foods, a selection of beautiful pastries & a shop with all sorts of things.
They sell local artwork, too!
We bought a beautiful photograph of a highland cow & she is up on our living room wall!
Good value for money. Definitely worth a stop here.
Visited for the bicycle workshop, decent mechanic; but have used them twice now and really find them inconvenient (unless you work part time in the town center?)
