An incredible used bookshop in Inverness! Browse from hundreds of titles, some over a century old in pristine condition. We ended up finding a book of poems in tribute to Whisky.

Quaint and charming bookshop that seems like it’s straight out of a movie. It’s not tidy and new but full of charm and a bit chilly!

I've never seen a book shop like this. I'd say there were hundreds of thousands of books. All used, so many so old that you had to ask to look at them.

It's pretty cool bookshop. Very unquie. And it's two stores. But it'd still small. Can get crowed.

A large part of the shop behind the cash desk, seems like with the best books there, is not accessible for the customers, “staff only”, what is the point? There also tons of interesting books stacked around with a sign that it’s not allowed to browse these books as that are not yet valued. I was very disappointed.

Plenty of books and roughly organised but unfortunately no horror section as they generally do not get many donated. Prices do seem a bit steep depending on the condition of the books but could be a good place to find books which are no longer in print.

A phenomenal experience in used books. Recycling at its best - near the walk bridge across the river.

If you’re a book warm or have unquestionable love for physical books, this is where you will be trapped fort the greater part of the day. The collection is massive and well organised. It was very hard not to pick up some great titles (damn you airline weight limits) but it was great to explore and flip through some. You might find really old books, spotted one that was signed 1891!!

Absolutely loved it here, I could of easily stayed all day, what a fantastic place to find some treasures.

I was really looking forward to visiting the bookshop. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to see how disorganised the books and the prints were. The books/ prints are also very overpriced. It gets busy quickly and isn't wheelchair accessible. Customer service is non-existent.

What more could you ask for in a bookshop. The building is a wonder in itself. A great joy to have a look around the huge selection of books available. Great prices on books they have available, and if they don't have something, ask at reception and they'll try to get it in for you. Amazing location and worth a visit

Not enough space, the musty smell of old books (and I love books), no catalogue or even (alphabetical) order. But a real treasure trove to those less OCD.

Perfect place for a book lover. Inside looked something from a fairy tale, spiral staircase, and books as far as you can see.

Not kid friendly, quite crowded, shop worker was quite rude. Our two toddlers were laughing and he shouted, “excuse me! The playground’s outside.” At them from across the store. We had only been in the shop about three minutes, they were excited and a little overwhelmed and there was very little room to move around. We left quickly but won’t be back. I’m not sure how this shop ended up on so many “best places to go with kids” lists, but certainly doesn’t deserve it.

It feels like Harry Potter. There are many books and illustrations that are over a hundred years old. It is worth browsing and collecting illustrations.

Wonderful experience. The bookstore is located inside an old church and there is also a cemetery on the grounds. All very interesting.

Lovely bookshop what is categorised in for instance poems, children's books, Scottish, popular fiction, history and so on. What made me love this bookshop is the smell of the books and the open floor.

What an amazing Aladdin’s cave! Stuff from the movies with a spiral staircase and bookshelves everywhere.You need to hunt for what you want and understandably the older editions are pricey.What fun though

It's very popular - so it can get busy during the tourist season. I like it on a rainy day when the stove is on. There's a huge variety of books and prints. I think it's always worth a visit but be prepared for it to be busy sometimes with Instagram/influencers & tourists there to look at the fab building etc. If you don't like crowds it's better to visit out of season. Have bought a lot of books here for myself and my student daughter.

Excited to visit this bookshop while reading SG McLean's The Bookseller of Inverness! Be warned - you need about a week to do the shop justice. Some lovely prints for sale, as well as acwide selection of books.

We were in Inverness for a few hours, had to walk out of this bookshop, to many interesting books, I have decided to go back for a weekend so that I have more time to spend here.

Simply magical... the smell of books you've read.

This famous bookshop has plenty of treasures, but is typically packed full of people, is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, is not necessarily child friendly. I found our long-awaited visit to be anxiety inducing and if I were to visit again I would try to determine when the quietest time to go would be, and go alone.

If you're a book lover, AMAZING. Alas, I had 10 minutes to catch the train. You're gonna need a couple hours here, realistically.

The bookshop is crammed full of books, maps, and prints. There are books all sorts of subjects. The organisation of the books are in subjects not necessarily all in the correct name order. It's a very interesting shop and has a certain ambience.

As a book lover, I totally loved this bookstore and the hour + I spent here wasn't nearly enough. Honestly, if Inverness would have been my last stop before heading home I probably would have spent an entire day digging thru books and stuffing my suitcase! It's stores like these where you discover new authors because you are willing to give them a try when the cost of the book is a fraction of the price of it new. Love, love, love!

Large bookcase distributed on the ground floor and a loft that is accessed by a unique staircase. It is located in an old building linked to a church. Old books and prints. It is worth visiting the old cemetery that is located next door.

Magnificent bookstore - bookseller The “Scotland”, “Transport”, and “Folio” sections are very well stocked for enthusiasts or for finding a souvenir book from your time in the Highlands.

Can you say "a dream come true" when it comes to a bookshop? I find that, with Leakey's, you can! I nearly fainted when I entered the place. Had heard so much about it before my trip to Scotland, but to finally see it with my own eyes, smell the books and bask in its comfortable silence - I wanted to weep! It has everything for everyone. The gentleman at the desk was sweet and helpful, answering any questions we had with light-hearted humor and no judgement. Wonderful experience!
