The Craig Bar in Highland

Decided to give the craig bar a shot as I do like a pie. Typical pub feel with a roaring fire. Only serve pie and chip, lovely. Had the steak and Stilton and chicken, ham and leek both yummy and we had some gravy on the side. Defo recommend this place, down the earth with decent grub.

My wife and I had a lovely evening at the Craig bar. We both had tea and a few drinks on a wee mid week break. Atmosphere was great and Robbie and his mum looked after us very well. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Another great night at the Craig Bar, wide selection of Pies all delicious. Robbie on top form as usual, looking forward to our next visit.

Wenn man sich selbst nicht zu wichtig nimmt, versteht man auch seine Art und Weise wie er die Dinge sieht und angeht. This place is somewhere I would advise to avoid . The owner is a racist and insulting to us. He called our vegan friends freaks when serving them the vegan option on his menu .He called their little girls colouring books rubbish when he asked them to move them. I worry about the young lad who works for him . A horrible place.

Tasty Pies and good drinks but the publican was not only blatantly rascist but outright rude. Why bother making a vegan pie and then calling the customer a freak. Also being antagonistic to Irish people.

Review is based on this being a good old fashioned pub serving pie type meals....if you go on that basis, you won't be disappointed. Child and dog friendly.

This is one of our locals and we love it! Simple but delicious, pie chips and a pint what more could you want. Slight wait on pies cooking but worth the small wait Robbie is excellent and always one to cheer you up with his jokes!

In a world of gastro pubs it was a pleasant change to spend time in a place that was happy in its own original skin. The hearty fire on a cold Friday night was most welcome and our 4 legged friends were made most welcome too We didn’t eat here and unless you like dog biscuits 🤣 there’s no crisps to be bought at the bar. Gin lovers will have to make do with Gordon’s but I really enjoyed the local lager (just wish I could remember its name!) and whisky lovers are spoiled for choice. The RAF memorabilia is interesting- never found out the connection. And yes - Robbie the “marmite” landlord - we thought he was highly amusing- but his banter may be lost on some. We would definitely go back.

This place is full of character, Robbie the owner makes the most amazing cocktails and the Coffee was amazing. Famous for its pies this place seems to have found a new direction. We will definitely be back for your fine hospitality and awful lager what ever it is!

Not great. Beer was okay, but the pies were overrated. Not freshly made, very dried out and no taste.

Great pub with a nice atmosphere. After watching the darts final I thought it be best if I try darts for myself and the claymore fit the bill. Happy to report I hit my first bullseye!

My lass and I thoroughly enjoyed the food/prices, the staff members were in top form, they made everyone feel welcome and was attentive/friendly; which made the place have a very warm and homely atmosphere. We will definitely be back!!

I would have given 5 stars if they had served proper draught beer, but alas, just the fizzy stuff. Can't fault the food or atmosphere in any way. Landlord and landlady super helpful and attentive.

Sie betreiben die Craig Bar seit 33 Jahren und wissen genau wie der Hase läuft. Roby ist ein herzenslieber Mensch, möglicherweise mögen nicht alle die Art, die er hat, aber wenn man des Essens wegen hin geht, wird man mehr als nur zufrieden sein. Die Craig Bar liegt in einer Nebenstrasse (Woodside Avenue) die man in 3-4 Minuten (laufen) von der Highstreet erreicht. Wir werden weiterhin hier einkehren und freuen uns auf die guten Pies.

Der beste Laden in Grantown on Spey. Best Pub in the whole town.

A small local tavern, with an amazing bartender that will definitely tell you how it is. The pies are fantastic for a bite to eat and the price is great. Ask for their finest Irish whiskey and give the bartender our best haha. Definitely going to swing by if we are in the area again.

My friend and I had the pleasure of popping into The Craig Bar for an early dinner, and it was a delightful experience. We both ordered the classic pie, chips, and gravy, and it hit the spot perfectly. The pie was hearty and flavorful. What made this visit even more memorable was the interesting banter.

Visited here due to the reviews, it wasn’t the best . It was an unusual place filled with old air force pictures, dusty old uniforms and hats/helmets. Pies were their selling feature however apart from the pastry they were very bland, mushy peas and “laughing dog” gravy were beyond bland. The food was hot and edible but that’s as far as it goes. Initially thought it was maybe a bit quirky based on the interior and the landlord however it just has an aura of all round oddness . Try elsewhere !

The reviews here are mostly good. A few people recommended it...but...why? The place is stinking. It's covered in weird military memorabilia and the ceiling is covered in bogging old hats. There's a poor beer selection. The owner behind the bar was talking about "gay dogs" when we went in. I'd heard he was liable to give "banter" but his schtick is pretty old school, to put it mildly. While we ate the chef (maybe the owners wife) sat a few tables along, turned round to directly stare at us. It was really uncomfortable. Now, the pies. This is really weird. The place makes a big deal of the pies. They are supermarket pies. They are Pieminster pies that you get in Sainsbury's. Honestly. The chips are oven chips. This isn't some gourmet pie place. A lot of the reviews praise the "banter" but honestly the stuff the guy says isnt ok. Maybe if folk love Jim Davidson or something they'd like it, but if you were born after 1980 maybe give it a miss.

20 of us from Pennsylvania stopped in for a drink, and we had the best time ever! The proprietor is absolutely hilarious, we laughed the whole time. If you can’t take some insults and cuss words then this place is not for you. Actually, going to this bar is one of the best times we had on our tour of Scotland. Thanks for the laughs!

Won't get anymore straightforward dining than this. Pick a pie and a drink eat it and enjoy it. Pies taste excellent, decent pint of Guinness, good banter from the staff. Give it a miss if you're a bit of a wet wipe that can't stand swearing or someone who doesn't hold back with his sense of humour, the bar manager might not be your cup of tea.

We were late getting into town and our BnB host made us late reservations. It was busy and everyone seemed happy. Make reservations! They only do pies, but they are very delicious pies and hit the spot after a long day of travel. We had the beef(the moo) and the moo and blue. They arrived quickly with wonderful fries(chips) Fresh and hot! I love it when the fries arrive so hot they burn your fingers. It means very very freshly made! I ordered brown gravy. Because I love gravy. It was delicious too. I think it was the owner/owners wife that checked on us towards the end. She was somewhat questioning the gravy decision, because it makes the chips(fries) soggy. It did not! (Maybe it would have if they were NOT fresh and hot?) Very friendly, great service. Very reasonable price. Like 15£ a person with beer. It was a very good choice for supper. I do recommend! I hope to be here again!! Delicious!

Loved this place, the Pies were delicious, the barman was hilarious! We enjoyed ourselves, got chatting to other visitors who had been before and loved going back each time they were in town, as we will if we go that way again.

I thought. Where are the cameras hanging? This must be some kind of tv program because the host Robbie will get you to laugh in his way. His humor is as dark as the coffee they don’t serve. Genuine lad. The pies were fabulous. Don’t forget to ask for the gravy. They really appreciate that. Cheers

Popped in without a booking luckily they had 2 tables in the back spare. Had the steak and ale and my wife had chicken and mushroom pies, both were absolutely delicious. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely visit again. But I'd make a booking next time to avoid any disappointment

We’d booked earlier in the day and thank goodness we had done! A busy place for excellent pie and chips (ensure you get mushy peas and gravy too!). We were told how long it was going to take, which was spot on. The landlord was very friendly and obviously the life and soul of this place. We’d certainly return in a heartbeat.

Only go if you want to be sociable, do not take offense at the owners quirky style and will enjoy a unique pie that we found delicious. Loved the banter, ale was good, and my veggie pie (mushroom and asparagus) - I would have bought a supply if I could. I imagine that they are all equally delicious. Omg what an experience! The staff are lovely,and the banter is constant. We could have sat all night. Now onto the famous pies,I had the chicken n leek,hubby the chicken n mushroom and WOW they were worth the wait,absolutely gorgeous, definitely the best I've tried ( and that includes my own). Robbie is a peach. Don't let his craic" turn you off. This guy does not suffer fools. We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the conversation. He takes time with his diners and his famous pies! Wish we had had room for dessert.
