Great food and great craic. I was up visiting my daughter in the area and I’d heard about the pies in the Craig Bar and thought I’d take my daughter and I for scoff. First of Robbie the owner is friendly and welcoming and speaks as he finds you. Fine selection of Malts on offer but I opted for a pint of IPA. We got the menus and sat down to decide what we wanted, there’s a selection of around 10 pies to choose from all served with a Scottish salad (chips) that I thought was a brilliant piece of marketing, pie and chips exactly what I like, there’s optional extras such as beans, gravy and they also do a vegetarian option on the pies. I opted for the Moo and Blue and my daughter had the Moo, so basically steak and blue cheese and a steak pie. Robbie said it’ll be around 20 minutes and it’s worth the wait, these pies are seriously delicious and the chips bang on. While eating, it was good listening to Robbie interact with everyone who came in, he’s certainly good craic. The interior is very much of RAF and other military memorabilia and suits the atmosphere of the place. Highly recommend this place for the pies and the craic

Having been here the last time we were in Grantown in October, when we enjoyed the food and service, we were looking forward to another visit. Sadly, this visit was completely spoiled by the loudly expressed homophobic views of a few regulars - views which went completely unchallenged by the owner. We left immediately, won't be back and would recommend anyone who cares about basic humanity and appropriate conduct to avoid as well.

Disappointed that the premises were closed - 22 March 2025. Our trip to Grantown was made especially to visit this pub based on the colourful reviews , we were looking forward to the banter and sampling the laughing gravy .... not to be as the opening times for the weekend are not correct. So be warned. We ended up walking into the town and ended up having a pint in the Claymore and lunch at the Grant Arms.

We had been on a whisky tasting tour and pie and chips seemed the ideal dinner our tour guide warned us that the landlord, Robbie, was like marmite, fortunately I love marmite. We arrived 5 minutes late having been told some stories by our hotel barman about his experiences with Robbie, and were greeted with some colourful language, but our table was still available. There are a wide variety of pies available many different meats and several vegetarian options all served with chips; but only pie and chips. The menu I’d found online had said that mushy peas were available as a side dish, but the one we were given only showed baked beans, I asked if mushy peas were available but was told they weren’t because they tasted like ####. Robbie told us our food would be ready in about 25 minutes and delivered our pints straight away. The pies were good, the chips were hot, the gravy was very meaty, and we had a great chat with the next table. A fun evening

Very nice pies served with flair and character (but that's not the food!). Hosts are effusive and abusive in their welcome, but not offensive. They love dogs! Only pie and chips, but a good choice of pies. Gravy is an optional extra. It's mostly an eating house - all chairs and tables and no cosy sofas to relax on, so people come here to eat. Everyone had left by 9.30pm.

Came for the pies, chips and banter - got them all! Would agree with other reviews that this isn't the place to come if you're easily offended, but if you've got a thick(ish) skin, don't mind a bit of swearing, and want a tasty pie and a drink, it's ideal! Unfortunately I have to write a negative review because in this place as soon as I said that we were Italian they told us that they had no seats, even though they had free tables and the place does not accept reservations. A bad experience that will not erase the beautiful memories of the Scots I met during my holiday. I want to tell the owner that in this way he cannot have a public commercial activity. However, I wish him good luck.

Fabulous dinner at Craig’s bar. There is something for everyone, as long as you like pies! Me, my husband and two teens dined here. We are all vegan so finding good tasty food outside of the usual vegan burger in the Cairngorms can be tricky, but Craig’s have the most delicious and best vegan pies we have tasted. We had the Mooless Moo and the Mock A Doodle. We all left our plates clean. Thanks Beryl for catering to vegans with the most delicious flavours, and Robbie for welcoming us with jokes a plenty. Dogs also welcomed with treats.

A bar in Scotland can hardly be more Scottish. A visit to this bar, pub with the opportunity to eat, is a cultural highlight. Our visit started with a mistake because I ordered a Tennent's beer! That seems to be comparable to ordering a Köpi in Cologne. At the end of the evening we were thrilled by the cultural experience. The pie, which is the only food there, although served in different versions, was worth the £12.5. Take a look at the store and you will be amazed.

In a world of gastro pubs it was a pleasant change to spend time in a place that was happy in its own original skin. The hearty fire on a cold Friday night was most welcome and our 4 legged friends were made most welcome too We didn’t eat here and unless you like dog biscuits 🤣 there’s no crisps to be bought at the bar. Gin lovers will have to make do with Gordon’s but I really enjoyed the local lager (just wish I could remember its name!) and whisky lovers are spoiled for choice. The RAF memorabilia is interesting- never found out the connection. And yes - Robbie the “marmite” landlord - we thought he was highly amusing- but his banter may be lost on some.
