A very nice gallery. Be aware that despite historical reviews it no longer operates a cafe. Some really great local art, jewellery and small souvenir items.

Lovely gallery and shop with nice selection of gifts and cards. Lovely lady serving too. Thank you for being so friendly and welcoming on a wet weekend!

A really lovely gallery as are the owners, Mairi and James. Nothing better than a local family run art gallery. I just had a very sentimental painting framed by James and I couldn’t be happier with it, the frame really tops the already brilliant painting off. Thanks James and Mairi.

So many lovely things for your home or for gifts… just hard to choose which one to get next. A fab wee gallery with an abundance of stunning, local artwork. Definitely worth a visit!

Lovely gallery with an eclectic mix on display. Chatting to the owner, she advised all the items are made in Scotland too. Great disabled access to the ground floor and dedicated parking, what's not to like!

If you are looking for a view of the area and the Lochs in a frame this is the place, photographs or paintings they have them all. Reasonably priced. Great gift shop too.

Wonderful gallery and shop selling a large range of gorgeous craft gifts as well as stunning photographs and art work. First visited it a few years ago and so glad I went back !

The four of us found this gem of a place by accident, near the end of a very rainy day as they were just about ready to close thank heavens we did! The friendliness of all the staff was amazing, you could tell that it was a family run business. The coffee / tea and cheese scones were to die for! Also, the gallery was very interesting and the lovely craft items on sale.

One of the nicest places I've visited. The selection of gifts of all sorts and prices exceptional. Unfortunately no longer having a coffee shop where the baking was second to none but still worth a visit when it reopens in the New Year.

Having eaten here a few times we decided another visit was due, being over 25 miles away we checked the internet to make sure they would be open, closed all day Thursday so today (Wednesday) we will be ok, imagine our surprise on arriving that it was closed, what a disappointment especially having checked before going out of our way to get there.

We’ve visited before and keep coming back as we are always made to feel really welcome by the staff. We have a dog, therefore we have to use the outdoor seating area. But, as the weather was warm (despite it being late October), this wasn’t a problem.

Planned visit here. Arrived and parked but it was shut which was a shame as the windows had wonderful displays of genuine craft work and not touristy tat as in Aviemore. Shame …..will try again if back in area.

gallery with a lunchroom in it. great art, upstairs is a whole floor with paintings, cards. tearoom serves great home made soup. much attention to detail, great and friendly staff. busy at lunch time because it is very popular with the locals.

Light and airy and different with a good choice of art work and other bits and bobs. We had very good coffee and carrot cake which was served by a very happy and friendly lady.

Stopped here for a coffee when out for a run in the car. We both had flat white coffee’s which were really good, we also had two tray bakes which were so tasty. Good service and a nice place for a coffee stop.

Great coffee shop with nice friendly staff. It is 250 miles away from home but I'd definitely pop back for a scone and a brew!

If you are looking for somewhere nice for having a cuppa and a cake this is a great place. friendly service and lovely art and photography to look at and buy around the gallery, all done by local artists.

I went here with my family after a lovely walk and this was a fantastic little coffee shop we found. I would recommend this cafe to everyone!

Stopped off here for soup, scones and coffee’s again this year and would thoroughly recommend it. Bought a painting this year so we can remember our Highland holiday during the winter. Will be back again next year. Great service from the staff.

Delicious cakes and friendly staff in a great location. Outside seating with cover where you can sit on a nice day. Cafe is on cycle route 7 so convenient for a stop if you are out cycling. The artwork on display is always fantastic and gives the cafe a lovely feel.

Beste espresso en cappuccino, de laatste is geen melkbak! Binnen wat schilderijen, fotografie en sieraden, buiten simpel terras met als het nodig is overkapping. Vlakbij het station waar de stoomtrein rijdt.

Having not been in B-of-G for a couple of years, the existence of 1896 was met with some anticipation. And, wow, what a superb addition to the area. Interesting and bright gallery upstairs with worthwhile exhibits. However, the consumable exhibits downstairs were if greater interest to us. It seems the baking is shared between the family members. The knack seems to be genetic. Both the tiffin and cheese scone that we shared was top notch. Staff were clearly local and were wonderfully welcoming with the young lads having a great, wry sense of humour. Absolute pleasure of an experience.

Stopped here for afternoon coffee and cake, and what a find this place was. I ordered the courgette, pecan and cinnamon cake, which may sound a weird mixture, but was absolutely fantastic. The cake was moist and extremely tasty, and I was served a decent portion too! It was so good, I decided to visit the following day for another piece, and wasn't disappointed.

Midway point in our rather wet cycle along route 7 with kids needed a new warm up and dry out and stumbled on here just off the path. What a lovely find!

This terrific family run café and gallery gift shop is a must visit if you are in the Boat of Garten area. Luckily we were able to sit outside as a wonderful hot day. We walked in from Aviemore on the Speyside Way path. Loved our soup and savoury scone. Followed by delicious cakes and hot coffee. Large jug of tap water on table. Nice friendly service. Look forward to our next visit. Not sure if still closed on Thursdays so do check Lovely gift and picture area in the café and upstairs

Soup was delicious, cake nice but maybe just too much of it (there’s something I never thought I’d say) Maybe slightly overpriced

Had a lovely lunch here and the homemade soups were delicious I had broccolli and cheese and my husband sweet potato and chilli. Both were delicious and we both had them with a cheese scone instead of bread and they too were so tasty.

Me and my husband got here for coffee while driving to aviemore. The coffee and scones are yummy and the staff is super courteous. This guy Jared even helped us make our itinerary for things to do in and around. Would definitely recommend this cafe to one and all

A very lovely cafe with the special offer of an galerie. Very good scones and cakes. If you are in Boat of Garten you should visit it immediately.

We only had a coffee here which was very good. Clearly though there was a selection of delicious looking cakes on offer. There is also an interesting gallery as well. A great place to stop for refreshments.

The delicious soup in this lovely cafe was the ideal lunch for us after our long morning walk. And the service was very welcoming, prompt, friendly and efficient. We were delighted we called in.

This was our second visit here. The staff were brilliant, really friendly. The cake selection was delicious and we will certainly be back. I enjoy looking through the photographs for any gems too.

I have previously stopped here for a scone and hot drink. On this occasion, i needed something more substantial and so chose the ‘home made ‘ soup. Tomato and basil ( ?). We did ask if it was home made. I was v hungry and ate it. It was not to my liking. Maybe it was a catering soup. ?

Cycled from Aviemore and stopped here for tea and cake. The coffee shop is warm and welcoming with a nice selection of gifts. Tea is served properly in tea pots and china cups. Traybakes were both good.

Excellent coffee and cakes, whilst the coffee is being made take a wall upstairs, some truly awesome photographs by one of Scotlands best photographers. Worth a visit when in the area.

Very reasonably priced selection of home made cakes and scones. In addition an establishment where local artists and crafts people have their products for sale. Well worth a visit if passing through Boat of Garten.

Good choice for vegans. Soup and several cakes. Even better for vegetarians! Excellent friendly service. Lovely gallery. We'll definitely go back.

Called in at a very busy time as no tables available, we decided to wander around the upstairs gallery until a table became available, it wasn’t long until we were tucking in to an excellent bowl of delicious soup and a cheese scone followed by...

We enjoyed lovely home baking in a delightful venue with a very nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the gallery a pleasure in which to browse.

We live on Loch Ness but called in here whilst out having a potter about on a drive around the area. Warm welcome from a polite young man. The coffee was excellent, hot and fresh and not like some "weak dishwater" that is served in other places within a tourist visiting area. Well worth the drive from Drumnadrochit and we would highly recommend.

Holiday during February and visited EVERY day of our week's holiday (except for Thursday when staff have their day off). Lovely coffee shop and gallery. Wood burning stove makes this a cosy place to linger. The staff are very hospitable and friendly and the coffee is excellent. The cakes are to die for! Beautifully baked fresh and delicious as are the scones. Great value as well. Needless to say we came home with broader waistlines.;-) Stunning art and photography in the upstairs gallery. Would highly recommend,

Lovely warm welcome as we walked in on a cold day, choice of cakes and tray bakes was impressive for a Monday in February...so between 2 of us we had a cheese scone, pear & ginger scone...both 10/10 for taste & lightness in fact best scones we've had in long time. We then shared a slice of Victoria Sponge cake & a tray bake, washed down with a large americarno each....all so tasty, light, delicious and not over filling. Friendly service. Lovely sales area & gallery. Will return to there again and tell more to visit them too...although we were impressed by the number of customers and speed of service.

Had an amazing gluten free raspberry and lemon cake. Totally delicious . Really friendly staff . Lovely decaffeinated coffee. Sister had a delicious pear, almond and maple cake (also scrumptious... ) with very nice decaff latte. Toilets were very clean (always a good sign!) . Great artwork to browse round too.

Home baking is delicious . I had a cheese scone and a portion of peanut slice both were excellent. The gallery itself showcases many local artists and local scenes and well worthy of perusal with prices to match all pockets.

I have been here twice now - once on a cycling holiday and once with partner and baby. The service is really good and the coffee and food is amazing. I love the soup, scones and cakes.

Had a very nice lunch here, and had a good browse of the excellent local art and craft pieces for sale. Warm, comfortable, good quality and value. Would highly recommend.

This coffee shop is well worth a visit. We were welcomed by very friendly staff who went out of their way to accommodate 7 of us plus baby. We settled round a log burning stove and selected from a good range of home made cakes and scones. None of us were disappointed. Scones were fresh and light and my maple and pecan cake was lovely. Take a wander round the little gallery upstairs selling art craft works from Scottish artists or browse the quality gifts on sale. Great to get the opportunity to support local artists and buy something a bit different. Will make a point of stopping here next time we are up on holiday.

A great find for a coffee and a cake or scone. Devised to find out that it is going to be closed for the next two weeks for holidays. Would have definitely been back.

Lovely coffee. Nice surroundings, good value

This is a lovely place to stop for tea and coffee. At the weekend it has a lovely ambience about it with a mixture of walkers, cyclists and tourists The coffee is lovely, tea in teapots and with china cups and saucers also a great choice of scones, cakes and light lunches such as soup etc. The cafe is spotless as are the toilets and the tables in the cafe are not too close together. The service is excellent, friendly customer service makes it one place you would want to return to. Dog friendly with hooks outside side door where dogs can be left in view of the cafe or sitting together with owners at outside tables.. The gallery is also really nice to browse through with lots of various paintings and crafts.

We stopped off here for a spot of lunch, very pleasant helpful staff, great soup and coffee. Spotlessly clean. Loads of nice photos and art to browse too

My wife and myself visited the gallery and coffee shop last week. They have an excellent variety of cakes and traybakes. The soup and bread/cheese scone is worth having to. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We visited again at the end of the week with our family. Will visit again next time we are in the area.

Always visit this coffee shop when we are cycling in and around Aviemore. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The coffee is excellent as are their various cakes, tray bakes and soups everything is freshly made and the prices are very reasonable. Would highly recommend a visit. The Gallery itself has some lovely pieces of art work and hand made local products. Will certainly be back again.

It usually says a lot about a place when it is used in equal measure by tourists and locals alike. Mairi and James are 2 of the most generous and genuine people and have worked hard to create this very popular meeting place. Consistently great coffee and a range of quality art and crafted Scottish goods. Take the steam train through from Aviemore. Spend some time at the gallery and walk back along the Speyside way for a perfect day out

Was told de-caffienated coffee was twice the price wholesale (bit hard to believe) hence justification for a hike of 30 pence on a cup of coffee. This was not clear when ordering. Also surcharge on card with purchases under £5 - again, not sure this is clear to customers.Other than that coffee and service OK.

Not our first choice. We came back after visiting the gallery and our first choice was not open during hours. The staff was very nice. We ordered coffee and home made desserts and were not disappointed. The cakes were fabulous.

What a delightful cafe. We stummbled across this little gem of cafe whilst travelling to Lossiemouth. It was clean, bright and the staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble. The scone was delicious and the blackberry and apple cake delightful.Will definitely re-visit on our next trip up that way.

Firstly, the staff were very friendly and accommodating upon our arrival. Secondly, the cakes and coffee were excellent.

There's nothing wrong with the cheese scones- they're great! But try the other ones too, they're equally brilliant! They're even better if you ask for them to be warmed. You might need a few visits to achieve this. Iain D

Nous sommes venus pour le petit déjeuner (ok, il était 11h...), mais ce n'est pas leur créneau visiblement, car il n'y avait que quelques scones à se mettre sous la dent... et pour les enfants des jus d'orange concentrés en brique et 'milk shake' en bouteille...

If ever I fancy a 'pick me up' then this coffee shop is definitely my absolute first choice!! The cakes are gorgeous, the welcome always warm and the gallery aspect inspiring. It may not have a big range on offer but the food it serves is fresh, home cooked and always delicious. A real asset to the area and a total treat. I love it!

This is a great place to spend a happy hour or two. You can while away the time browsing the very good gallery with lots of great photos, paintings and also crafts for sale. The. Joy of joys you can have an excellent coffee or tea with gorgeous home made cakes, especially lovely are the scones. Highly recommend a visit here, in fact we visited twice whilst staying at Boat of Garten we loved it so much - highly recommended

This is a gallery/cafe combo that works well. Good home-baking, coffee and light lunch options. The main gallery is located on the first floor but some of the artworks are on show in the cafe area. Friendly staff.

We watched the talented joiner and husband of this family convert this building into a beautiful Gallery and coffee shop on one of our many visits to this super village in the most scenic of areas. We chatted to him and said we would visit once the café and Gallery opened. But last year we went on a Thursday and it was closed. Don't go on a Thursday BUT DO visit! We had a delicious bowl of homemade soup and a very yummy moist sponge cake. Family business and the young lady who bakes the cakes is a talented baker. Lovely welcome and very interesting pictures and prints for saleHighly Recommend! We will be back!

Nice mellow coffee and great Salted Pesnut & Chocolate Cake, 2 pieces of White Chocolate Rock Road a Cheese Scone and a large Cookie to share all for less than £20 great value for money.
