I really wanted this to be great but in the end I just did not sleep well. The bed was very uncomfortable, and pillows were horrible square foam. The hotel is amazing, and I am sure it costs a lot to keep such a beautiful hotel but when 8 hours of the day is spent sleeping (the whole point of a hotel I think) I is missing some key elements. Outside of town so getting to other food is a bit of a task. The food was good but was missing something that just left be short of amazed. Second night we went to down and had a great meal.

The food was good but not just small portions but tiny portions. We were the only people in the dining room, but we made our own ambiance. The set menu for 2 courses was only £24.95. I would rather have paid more for decent sized meal. Afternoon tea much better value

Being a fan of the Outlander Television and book series, my wife immediately booked this hotel on our trip to Scotland. It is an impressive estate. The drive-in is things that are, frankly on television shows. Wide grounds striking views of the main house. And little secrets to be found around many corners. As an old manor house it has so much character and personality. And dedicated the front parlor to a bar/seating area which is perfect as you overlook the grounds. They have a wonderful restaurant that is open for breakfast as well as dinner, which we highly recommend. The rooms are large, comfortable with some modern amenities but still have an old manor house feel. The staff is friendly and accommodating and can help you plan your trips to the local area. Even if you just come by for a tea or a cup of coffee. It’s worth a visit.

I don’t always leave reviews for hotels. I’m not a complainer and most hotels are adequate enough for me to enjoy my stay. But… we spent a few days at Culloden House this past week. This is an old manor type house, please keep that in mind. It is NOT a modern hotel. But that IS its charm and my son and I LOVED staying here. Culloden House’s hospitality was the best that I’ve experienced. (And I work in the service industry in the U.S.). Everyone in their staff was kind, lovely and extremely helpful. My son and I were blown away. He said to me several times, “everyone here is so nice.” Coming from New York this is a big deal! While the entire staff was amazing, I do feel I have to specifically point out, Kyle… he touched our hearts in ways that no other hotel staffman ever has. Culloden House’s biggest asset IS Kyle. We still talk about Kyle. He’s a gem of the Highlands. We hope Culloden House is good to Kyle and keeps him around. I cried when he left him. It was the only time in all this vacation that I cried when we left. For the rest of my life, I’ll think about Kyle, when I think about my trip to the Highlands. And Culloden House is a place I WILL come back to next year just to see Kyle again. Please do yourself a favor and book this accommodation , just to meet Kyle. You won’t be disappointed. Everything else is great too. ❤️

After visiting the battlefield this morning, my husband and I had lunch at the hotel today. I’d seen photos of Culloden House but the reality was even more beautiful. The dining room is the very definition of understated elegance; a crystal chandelier, polished wood and crisp, white napery. The service was excellent, the staff were wonderful and the meal was the best we’ve had in our two-and-a-half weeks in Scotland. We had the three-course set menu and our soup, main courses and desserts were perfect. After lunch, we had a delightful wander around the hotel’s walled garden which, on this beautiful sunny day, was a lovely way to finish off our lunch before our drive back to Inverness. Thanks for a great experience.

We loved our stay at the Culloden House Hotel. When you enter the doors the hospitality starts. They are so personable and accommodating. It’s such a charming place with so much character. The rooms were amazing. I got my best night sleep here out of all the hotels we stayed at during our trip to Scotland. The staff were so lovely to us. Food and drinks were amazing and the walled garden and neighboring highland cows an added bonus! I give it 4 stars for location only because it’s a little ways to the city itself but nothing a quick taxi ride (arranged by the friendly staff) can’t fix. Definitely would stay here again!

Culloden House was our introduction to Scottish hospitality after flying into Inverness. It's a short drive from the airport, about half way before Inverness itself, and shares its name with the nearby battlefield that was the site of the last pitched battle on GB soil. I had seen pics of Culloden House, but suspected the reality might not be so grand, or that the manor house might be tired, or that we would be stuck in a more modern annex. But if anything, the host exceeded my expectations. Driving up to it I was almost afraid to go through the gates, thinking it was too grand an entrance for tourists. The staff were really excellent and seemed to enjoy their work. Breakfast was amazing, in a huge dining room. We didn't try dinner. The room was a lucky upgrade for us to a suite, which was HUGE and had the softest bed I remember in a long time. Luxury! It really felt like we were staying at a county manor house as honored guests. The walled garden is also massive and lovingly cared for. It was spring and we had cherry blossoms and daffodils everywhere. Well worth half an hour. 15 minute drive into Inverness itself. Probably not somewhere you can get by public transport.

One of the best travel experiences of my life! Culloden House was an experience into itself. We had a king size bed, which was super comfy, and the room was well appointed. The lounge area was wonderful to recoup after hiking the battlefield or a night cap after dinner. George will entertain you with historic stories...or it could have been me asking so many questions. Ha! The story of the house age is truly fascinating. Ask him about the origins of Drambuie. That's a great tale! Def do dinner though (reservations req). The experience of the hotel was off the charts, but the food took it to a whole new level. My hubs and I really enjoy high-quality, thoughtful courses. The variety and array was outstanding and was one of the best meals of my life! Very nice wine list also. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted as a friend. As you leave, you'll feel like family. We will be back. 💗

Lovely hotel on gorgeous grounds! Make sure you take a walk through the walled garden. Ask for the key. We had a spacious front bedroom the third floor. Out of 12 nights in Scotland it was the only hotel that offered to carry our bags upstairs (thankfully)! George and Kyle were outstanding. They were there when we retired for the night and there first thing in the morning when we arrived for breakfast. Service was impeccable. My only regret is that we missed Diana Gabaldon’s (Outlander author) visit just a few days later!

We celebrated my daughter's 25th birthday with an afternoon tea at the Culloden House. From the initial organization, to the tea-experience itself and the payment afterwards, we were more than satisfied. All special requests (vegetarian, lactose- and gluten-free) could be taken into account and we did not have the impression that the selection became poorer for those of us, who have these issues. Furthermore, we had a delightful fireplace room to ourselves, including a chessboard with historical figures. We were able to spend an awesome afternoon there, without having the feeling of someone hurrying us. At the End, when we paid, we had also an informative conversation regarding the history and the secrets of the house. From our point of view: Highly recommended!

Excellent dining, particularly if you are staying at the hotel. Started with a very nice amuse bouche, followed by perfectly seared scallops. As a main, went with the lamb. Only here as we had been gifted a voucher for afternoon tea. This is an old and historic building but was always thought to be a bit upmarket with the prices they charge. However, our treat was pretty run of the mill - the usual obligatory sandwiches, scones with cream and jam followed by some sweet treats. Nothing to write home about - have had better in other establishments and costing less.

Dining at the Culloden House is a memorable experience. The setting, service, and food are top notch. We were served drinks in the parlor, enjoying the comfortable seating and beautiful room. My favorite starter dish is the Heritage Tomato Salad. It contains several types of to,autos, red, green, yellow and small. I loved our table, looking out onto the wonderful drive. I felt like the mistress of the manor. The food was good, but I was a bit surprised when I asked what cut of meat a “canon” of lamb was, only to have our waitress explain that she didn’t know because she was a vegetarian. But we had door going outside that was lovely and our bedroom was simply beautiful. The windows and window seats were spectacular. We each had our own bathroom (mine a lot better than his). The grounds were amazing -- especially the walled garden! Every evening, there is a piper to let you know that it's almost dinner time. During our group's three-night stay at Culloden House, we took all our breakfasts and dinners in a private dining room. I must admit that prior to our stay, I had been inclined to think that a traditional country house hotel might offer food that was, well, traditional, and perhaps stodgy and overcooked. I'm so happy to be proved wrong; Culloden House's chefs offer inventive, beautifully prepared menus to delight foodies and omnivores. The seafood items I tried were delectable, but so were the meat, game, and vegetable dishes. One night I ordered the fish pie, and the version that was presented can best be described as a modern, deconstructed version. It was a delight to both the eye and the palate. After our three-course dinner, coffee/tea and petits fours were served. Most of our group opted to skip this and retire for the night, having been worn out by a long day of sightseeing. But for the few of us who remained, the gracious ritual of coffee/tea and little treats served in the inviting lounge was a perfect, civilized, relaxing way to wind down. The food and service at breakfast were of an equally high standard. While the printed menu was already quite extensive, the accommodating staff also took special requests (such as adding some mixed vegetables as a side to accompany my perfectly cooked order of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs). Breakfast was so delightful I only wish I'd had more time to linger over it. Alas, our sightseeing schedule didn't allow us this luxury. As a foodie, I was extremely impressed by the quality of the food served at Culloden House, and I'm happy to say it was matched by the quality of the service.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Culloden House for five nights whilst traveling around Scotland. I have reviewed the hotel separately. We dined at the Culloden House three evenings while we were there. Prior to dinner we enjoyed wonderful cocktails in the Adams Lounge/Drawing room. It's a beautifully decorated large room with comfortable couches and chairs, a fireplace, lovely paintings, a huge antique mirror and chandelier and very high ceilings. Stephen made us a really nice vodka martini with a splash of Cointreau. The staff brought us menus and we ordered our meal whilst enjoying our cocktails. There is a very nice wine list as well. You are invited to come into the Adams Dining Room when you are ready. The dining room is a formal setup as we expected with white linen table cloths and candles. It is decorated very nice and colorful with a beautiful chandelier. Our meal started with a different Amuse Bouche each evening and each one was very good. We tried something different every night for dinner. For starters our favorites were the Seared King Scallops with little bits of cauliflower and candied peanuts, the Pork Belly and the Kiln Smoked Salmon. We agreed that the best entrees were the Scotch Beef Fillet that was cooked perfectly and the Bouillabaisse made with roasted hake and salmon in a saffron broth. Other great choices were the Lamb Loin and the Halibut. All entrees are presented beautifully. The desserts were amazing especially the dark chocolate, raspberries, raspberry sorbet. We had this on two occasions as it was so good. The service was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Afterwards we went to the Library Bar for an after dinner drink. The best part of this was listening to Stephen explain the Scotch Whiskey they have on hand. And there are lots and lots of them. His knowledge is amazing.

We were greeted on arrival and had pre-dinner drinks in the bar and was shown the menu and the dishes were explained in full to us.The scallops were the freshest and the finest I have ever have experienced. That was followed by seabream and a wonderful selection of cheeses. We then retired to the lounge where coffee and petit fours were served. I can honestly say i couldn't fault the meal at all and can't wait to come back and try again.

Visited the restaurant with my partner in May and was overwhelmed by the fantastic, historic surroundings and the amazing staff. The wow factor is as soon as you are driven up the driveway to the grand entrance. You are shown into a well appointed bar with a very knowledgable barman able to tell you about each of the many whiskies on the trolley. Dinner is in a grand sitting room and I had hand dived scallops which were flown in from the islands followed by a perfectly cooked steak. The cheese board and port were sublime and the petit fours in the lounge were deliciously moreish. Deserves a much higher rating and I will be back. Well done to all involved.

After a day of touring, my husband and I treated ourselves to dinner here. Reservations are necessary. The atmosphere is elegant, with a reserved historic feel. The property is a beautiful Manor House. The meal was delicious. Dessert even better. We felt comfortable and welcome by the staff.

We stayed at the hotel and had dinner two nights in the restaurant. The menu was very limited and the fare is mostly classic Scottish. I thought the service was fine but below that expected in a fine old hotel like Culloden House. My fish the one night was not particularly good as it was sort of mushy and didn't seem fresh. Maybe they were just having a bad night? It was expensive and I would not recommend you make the drive from Inverness (or from where ever) just to eat at the restaurant. If you stay at Culloden House - dinner there makes more sense because, the alternative, is to drag to Inverness for more dining options.

Well presented, beautifully thought out menu. Shame I had to eat in my room as I didn't pack heels to wear with my designer dress. Make sure you follow etiquette rules when dining here.

We enjoyed a three-course lunch in this restaurant that is inside the hotel. We were escorted into the sitting room where we had beverages before lunch. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The grounds of the hotel are nicely kept and it has the feel of a country mansion. The food was quite good and the presentation was nice as well. The service was also attentive without being stuffy.

This was my favourite dining experience in the last year - I thought the food was exceptional. We loved the scallops & cauliflower korma and duck tea starters. The lamb, fillet steak and halibut mains were all a treat. Desserts were splendid. So much flavour and interesting combinations on the plate.Starters were £10-£12 and mains £20-£28 which felt like good value for the quality of the food. The wine list had a wide variety of options, a little expensive but good quality. We enjoyed the NZ Sauvignon blanc at £32 and Morgon at £38.Friendly, informal service. Great experience.

Just had our first visit to this hotel and will most definitely be back. Arrived to a lovely welcome, drove up to the front of hotel, where they offered to get our bags from car and then parked our car as well. Bags taken to room, which was just amazing. We were in room 12, beautiful big spacious room with 2 large beds, sofas, chairs and a beautiful fireplace. Gorgeous big bathroom with 2 sinks, jaccuzzi bath and a fabulous shower. We went to bar and found it laid back, comfortable and relaxing where Noel made us lovely Martinis. We had decided not to go for a full meal in the restaurant and were served a lounge menu which was delicious. Had a walk around the grounds and walled garden which was lovely. Breakfast has a great choice and was very tasty. All the staff were just so friendly, helpful and wonderful...Noel, Stephen (the manager), A lovely lady on reception but didn't get her name and Kyle who served us breakfast, took our bags to the car and even gave us a wee hug as we left....such a lovely man and what a wonderful staff, nothing was too much trouble. We will most definitely back, I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough.

My husband and I stayed one night at Culloden House Hotel to be close to the Inverness Airport for our next day departure. What a find! We were awestruck upon arrival at the beauty of the place, inside and out. The level of service, the stately antique accommodations, and the cuisine offered were amazing. I cannot say enough good things about it. Our suite was wonderful with a huge bedroom and sitting area, and the bathroom was spectacular. We were a little concerned at first that the heating would not be adequate, but as it turned out, the radiators and fireplace provided the perfect amount of warmth once the wooden shutters on the windows were closed. My only regret is that, even though I read the strict dress code (no denim) when I made the reservation, I did not pack appropriate attire for us to have dinner in the dining room that evening - and apparently there was a party in progress with people dressed in kilts and full regalia, which I would have liked to see. They were happy to serve us from the dinner menu in our room however, so we took that option; and our selections were delivered in separate courses the same as if we had been in the dining room, rather than all at once as room service is usually done. That alone, was impressive, and the taste was impeccable. Breakfast the next morning was equally tasty and we greatly enjoyed the personal service and conversing with our waiter. A longer stay at Culloden House is definitely in my plans for next time I am in Scotland.

We have visited Culloden house for lunch three times now and absolutely love it!!I email before hand to obtain the current lunch menu as I'm a vegetarian and a bit fussy and like to know what's available for me.We order from the lunch menu two courses for 15.95 and three for £19.95 .When we are shown in we sit in the magnificent back room overlooking the back gardens to receive our menu and order from lovely Kyle who is so accommodating and full of useful information not just about Culloden house but anything you chat to him about, I mentioned on our last visit I was planning a trip to NY and off he went to get the name of a great place one of the staff members had stayed for us, so helpful and remembers us when we return. To start we always receive some wonderful homemade bread and the wait time between courses is minimal, we haven't taken out seven year old along yet as we sneak off to lunch when she's at school but Kyle encouraged us to bring her next time as the front grounds are so vast she would have a ball.We eat out maybe twice a week sometimes more so I can say that both the service and quality of food at the Culloden House is five star but Kyle he's worth ten stars

My husband and I had a post anniversary lunch here. We were made to feel so welcome by all the staff, particularly the waiter. It was like being at your much-loved aunties house and nothing was too much trouble. Food was fantastic and beautifully cooked. We were never rushed and could have happily sat by the fire for hours. This is a fabulous place and I will definitely be back. Keep up the good work and stay fabulous guys!

Arranged to do the Northcoast 500 and wanted to find somewhere to stay in Inverness. Pictures of Culloden House were impressive so booked a night on the start of the tour and a night for the return journey. On arrival the building is impressive I even stopped on the drive to take photos. From this point everything went downhill. Rude and offensive senior staff telling me that I couldn't eat in the restaurant due to dress code - ( I had on smart dark denim jeans, shirt and a jacket with clean shoes ) - room was appalling and dirty looked like it hadn't been painted for twenty years ...wall paper peeling, paint flaking, bed sagging, tired carpet and a filthy bathroom.

Afternoon Tea here truly is a special treat in a lovely relaxed setting. Culloden House itself is very Grand but the staff here are so welcoming.I had Afternoon Tea here with a group of friends for my sister's 40th birthday. There was a large group of us but plenty food for everyone which was replenished throughout the afternoon. There was plentiful sandwiches with various fillings, scones, shortbread and various cream cakes all homemade. Tea, coffee and Prosecco for afters. The surroundings are beautiful and the room you are in for the afternoon is a large room with big old fashioned chairs and sofas. Very quaint setting. I highly recommend this specially for a treat or occasion.

The Culloden House Hotel is magnificent! Starting with the excellent staff in manager Stephen, Murray , Harvey, and others, we were made to feel right at home on our trek to visit our McIntosh ancestral lands. The food was excellent, and the location with beautiful gardens was truly the ideal spot for us to headquarter for our first several nights in the Highlands.

Murray, Harvey, and all the staff couldn't do enough for us, even arranged a small room for us to do yoga! Loved our room with two bathrooms! Enjoyed our private family dining room each night. Food was delicious! Croquet was fun, too! 10 minutes from City Center.

This hotel is still a lovely place to stay. Really delightful staff and service and nothing is too much trouble. It has an old style elegance and grandeur and the breakfast and dinners are superb. My only and sincerest reticence is that their ability to cater for infirm or disabled visitors is virtually impossible. The room I was offered on the ground floor is beautiful, however the room is not a specific room for people with mobility issues it is huge and furniture spread apart so for an elderly person everything is out of reach, also the bed is three steps up and bathroom three steps down. The bathroom is not equipped with any grab rails and the loo seat is low, and a big step in to the shower and a low bath. There is a room in the annexe with disabled access however there is no entrance in to the main body of the hotel that caters for people to avoid several steps. The strong male staff will gladly help carry wheelchair customers in to the hotel but it's a palaver and draws embarrassing attention to the occupants. So my point is that in this day and age Culloden House needs to address solutions to this, it's not enough to say 'it's a listed building', so are many theatres, hotels, museums and even Buckingham Palace, but all have installations that make disabled access possible easily without destroying the permanent fabric of the building. We would love to visit here again, but alas as things are it will be impossible to consider. Culloden House in a society where people are living longer I urge you to think seriously about making improvements in this regard. Otherwise though our stay was lovely, and the afternoon tea that we asked the hotel to arrange for our mothers 90th celebration was second to none and served with great style and elegance. Particularly we would like to thank Kyle the member of staff who helped us get the elderly visitors in to the building with great humour, he was wonderful.

The Craig Bar is a classic scottish bar in Grantown-on-Spey. It is run by Robbie who attentively cares for his customers. Sensitive ladies may find it surprising to be named "darling" but we found it funny and charming. Different pies are on offer, all of them freshly made and very tasty, Beer, wine and whiskeys run into the glasses - what can you ask more for a great evening in Speyside?

Our family of 4 had a wonderful meal here whilst on our trip to Grantown on Spey. The food was wonderful, homemade, good quantity and quality at a good price. We had steak and ale pie, balmoral chicken, chicken goujons and veggie burger plus wonderful homemade desserts. The vegetarian options were really good. We would recommend to anyone looking for something to eat here.
