Great authentic Thai food in a small town you wouldn’t expect to find it.

Had a really delicious meal from Sunset Thai last night. Sadly it was our last night on holiday or we would have been back for more. Food all freahly cooked to order and ready for us to collect at our allotted time. Everything was very tasty, with good sized portions, especially the starters. Would definately recommend trying Sunset Thai and will be ordering again when we are back in the area

We have been using this take away for over 15 years and it just keeps getting better! Food is always made from the best of ingredients, delicious and plentiful, can’t recommend the spring rolls, fish cakes and spicy crackers highly enough as these are exceptional. Would recommend that you book early, especially in the summer months, as there are only a limited amount of slots available each night and everything is cooked to order from scratch by the owner (who is originally from Thailand). The website shows what slots are available and you just call or pop in to place your order. If you haven’t been before, you don’t know what you are missing!!!!!

Its a food for soul. Reasonable portions and great taste. You can feel the freshness in every bite.

We were only staying in Morar for five nights, but we still went here TWICE to get a takeaway (only option) for our evening meal. While my wife and son loved the red chicken curry, I chose the green - and we loved it. Tender pieces of chicken that melts in the mouth, served with rice and plain noodles. Spicy prawn crackers were also great.

Very good very nice 👌 Having moved to morar in nov 2022 I have been sampling the freshly made thai food produced here in the village I have had a good assortment of dishes tho I do particularly have a liking for the curry spring rolls the green curry and the garlic rice Just phone up book a time and collect your food That good 👍

Was slightly disappointing but a welcome change from cooking ourselves. Some dishes were dry but my noodles were ok. The booking system worked ok and picked up the food when asked.

Very tasty meal. For a good price. Smiles all round. Lovely hostess and quick service. We were very pleased.

Whilst visiting relatives in the area, they recommended we give this place a try (as they know I love Thai food) and we are so glad we did. The booking process is genius and the fact that Sunset Morar is someones house just make it extra special - proper Thai cooking (at its best). Food is to die for - really tasty - so tasty in fact that I am not sure I can go back to our takeout Thai when we get home. If you are in the area, I highly recommend the Sunset Morar - without any hesitation. We cannot wait to return to the area and order again.

Easy to pre order (day before) from online menus.. unfortunately no dine in, so takeout at prearranged time. Lady very nice, and food was divine! It was my birthday dinner. I was very impressed. Thai fruity curry, fried rice with egg and spring rolls. Great menu options. We were staying in Morar and the Sunset Thai takeout was on the main road so easy to find. 100% recommended.

Sunset Thai Food is a take-away located next to the Morar hotel. Freshly made Thai food define its character. Sunset Thai is popular with locals as well as guests of the Morar hotel. Service is friendly. We came on a weekday afternoon at 17:00. No inside or outside dining, only take-away food. Dishes is around £9. We ordered, but had to wait. Until 20:30 the kitchen princess was fully booked, a good sign. Guests of the Morar hotel can bring take-away dishes and dine at the bar. The Thai dish was freshly made and tasty. At the bar we ordered a glass of simple white wine, which set us back £7. When you are looking for good Thai food in the middle-of-nowhere, Sunset Thai Food is the place for you.

Wow! Real Authentic Delicious Thai food in the Highlands. Thai chef👌 The lady who runs this fabulous takeaway from her house could not have been more freindly. We chatted for 15 minutes about the wonderful kingdom of Thailand. Once my home. I felt I had stepped into Thailand. All I did was pick up a takeaway.😁 My food was perfect. The bottle of homemade chilli sauce I bought is very very good indeed. The real deal. Not like shop bought sauce. My picture does not do it justice. I ate on a chair with a black bag to stop any spills. Too arroy (delicious)to spill even 1 drop I am so glad I found this gem. Thank you very much sunset 🇹🇭 .🙏🙂

I stumbled upon this wonderful place whilst checking out the area before I arrived. I asked if the chef/cook was Thai. I wanted the real deal being a big fan of Thai food. The chef/cook is most definitely Thai. Arriving I was greeted by the Thai flag. Straight away I got that good feeling..At the door entrance various items caught my eye. I felt like I was back in Thailand. A most friendly lady appeared and greeted me. We had a good old chin wag about Thailand as I used to live there. I felt so very welcome and so happy I had found this gem of a place. I nearly forgot I had come to pick up some food. The food is too good to describe. Go get some. ARROY MAHK MAHK.🙂 Back at my hotel I placed it all on a chair with a black bag to stop any spills..Ha! I didn't spill anything. I even had a lick of the container it came in.lol. Go. Enjoy.

This place is not open 24hrs like Google Maps says. February 16, 2022 we stopped for lunch and they were closed. They said they are only open for dinner.

Amazing food, service was also excellent. There was a mistake with out order and there was no problem getting it sorted. Next time we are at Morar we definitely will be ordering again!

Thoroughly underwhelming. We paid a significant amount of money for food that was not of the quality we would expect for the price. We ordered many dishes, and all but one were substandard (the only worthy of the cost was the red thai curry). I have idea how this place scores so high, other than the obvious lack of competition. AVOID!

If it seems surprising to be glowing about Thai food on the West coast of Scotland, I should probably say that we have also sampled plenty of the local delicacies (kippers, monkfish and mussels from Arisaig and Mallaig). And this place is something else. We've tried most stuff from the menu and found it delicate/subtle when it needs to be, hot when it needs to be and comforting when it needs to be. Special mention must go to the Tom Kah Gai, the sauce for the Chicken Satay and the Gaeng Keow Wang, but it's all superb...

May be the best food I've ever eaten in 20 years of holidaying in the highlands.

We had a wonderful meal from here tonight - fresh, tasty and not at all greasy. We all agreed it was the best Thai meal we’d ever had - delicious!

We got a takeaway after a recommendation from a local during a trip to Mallaig. Seriously excellent Thai food. Even the spring rolls were excellent! The garlic butter rice, chicken and cashew and the basic noodles were all just excellent.

I got a meal from here due to staying in Mallaig in the time of the Covid pandemic whilst on essential work and the hotel restaurants were closed and it was the only takeaway available. I must recommend if you travel to Mallaig you must order a meal from here, the food is absolutely fantastic and the owner is so friendly.

We had an amazing meal while staying in the hotel next door. The chicken satay was to die for. We took bowls and cutlery with us as we had heard about the takeaway and wanted to try it. We were not disappointed. Highly recommended!

On a rainy Wednesday we had the tastiest Thai meal take away; fish cakes; Thai green curry; stir fry beef in oyster sauce; noodles, jasmin rice. Completely covid conscious. Amazing. Go there!

A bit of a strange experience - collection is from a house. We phoned ahead at 11am but still couldn't collect until 8.30pm so booking is a must. Food was all tasty but not amazing but was a nice change whilst camping nearby.

Hidden gem for really authentic, delicious Thai food. Probably the best Som Tam and Thai fishcakes we’ve had in the UK. Masaman and Panang were spot on. Definitely worth a visit - so unexpected in rural West coast Scotland!

We live locally and have thoroughly enjoyed this Take-away Thai food for some years. It's freshly made and wonderfully tasty. We've had chicken and cashew nuts at other restaurants, but non are as good as this.We'll keep coming back!

Bought a Thai Green Curry with Coconut rice and it tasted the same as one of the special offers in the Co-op at Mallaig. Portion was very small with six mini chicken pieces that were each smaller than a chicken nugget from McDonald's Not recommended...

We order meals from Sunset every time we are in Morar, which is almost every summer. The food is excellent, freshly cooked and piping hot when collected. The prices are very reasonable and we have rarely had such delicious Thai meals wherever we have been...

Didn't come to Morar expecting to eat Thai food for dinner but boy were we pleasantly surprised. Have been to Thailand and the food is pretty much as good as what you'd find there. Absolutely recommend it! Do note it's takeaway only and you need to call in advance as it's all prepared fresh.

Sunset Thai tonight for my Birthday as camping close by in Mallaig. Ordered a few hours in advance as advised and was ready on time. Very friendly lady and good service. The food... Oh my.. Absolutely incredible! Did think there wouldn't be enough for 3 but certainly was. Thai Prawn Crackers were addictive and not an ounce of grease in any dish. Fabulous flavours we all enjoyed! We WILL return next year!

Can rate this little business enough, the food is outstanding, we have a Thai meal every week and thoroughly enjoy it every time. Highly recommend this fabulous food.

Been visiting this absolute gem of a take away for many many years, never disappointed. Authentic Thai food, freshly made and genuine friendly service with a smile!I must absolutely contradict the previous review regarding portion size. I always order chicken satays, there are 15 skewers of marinated chicken and a sensational home made peanut sauce that it to die for. As mentioned in many previous reviews, portions are large and generous and delicious!Best Thai food anywhere, bar nine!!G

Like other reviewers, we found the portion sizes to be very small. The chicken satay skewers were very think and 8 of them fitted within a small tin foil container (half of the skewer only contained chicken. These are not like the chicken skewers that you would get in a regular takeaway or restaurant.The food was ok, but I wouldn't return nor recommend to anyone. The neighbour on our campsite said that if we'd asked them for a review then they would have also said avoid.I cannot believe any of the reviews for this takeaway that states that the portion sizes are large! They are definitely not large and we were still hungry afterwards. If you are hungry order double then you will not be disappointed, but your pockets will be emptied.

We've had many a meal from Sunset. Gorgeous home cooked food, no readymade sauces here. Generous portions especially the starters. My favourite is satay skewers or spring rolls and sweet and sour prawns with coconut rice. Heavenly. Haven't had a meal that disappointed yet! Book in advance though as it is freshly made.

Our order was telephoned during the day and we agreed a collection time of 8 pm. The food was ready around the agreed time and we only had to wait a little while for the chef to finish. Our dinner consisted of four main meals (approx. £8 each) and four rice (approximately £3.50 each).

We’re on holiday staying near to Morar in north west Scotland and a friend had recommended we try a takeaway from Sunset Thai. We were not disappointed- wonderful food and very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely use again.

An unexpected gem in sleepy Morar, excellent fresh and delicious, cooked to order and served from the front door. Don't waste your time eating at the hotel, eat this instead!

We had a noodle dish, a curry and chicken with cashews. All were very tasty and the latter was exceptionally good. Thoroughly recommend.

My whole family decided to rent a cottage here in Morar and on out final night opted for the Sunset. Best decision ever!! We made the minor mistake of ordering a starter each...the sheer amount we got would of fed us twice over but so worth it. The mains were cooked to perfection truely a wonderful emd to a wonderful week away

This is a takeaway restaurant and you have to order hours in advance, but it is well worth it. Delicious, freshly prepared, authentic Thai food. Subtle, favoursome and satisfying.

After a ride on the steam train we really enjoyed our meal from Sunset Morar. It's take away food with a difference! reasonable price, go or ring early to get the flavours just right for you. The chicken satay skewers were plentiful and delicious for our kids. The curries were made to varying tastes from China and the UK.

We called ahead and ordered dinner to collect 4 hours later as it was a Saturday. The food was fresh and tasty - really enjoyable. We will come back when we are next around Mallaig!

We have used this Thai food service twice now whilst on holiday in the area. The food is good, it tastes fresh and is full of flavour. The service is friendly and the prices are fair.

A lovely Thai takeaway, full of flavour but also incredibly subtle. Love the fried rice best I’ve had. We also had sweet n sour, satay and a noodle dish all very tasty. A must if we ever return to this area.

My friends and I were camping nearby at Morar Beach and found Sunset Morar on tripadvisor. Following the amazing reviews we decided to try it however when we phoned it was just closing. The lovely owner reopened for us and made the most amazing Thai food we’ve ever tried (and we’ve all been to Thailand!). Can’t recommend enough! The penang curry was the best I’ve ever had.

We were really impressed by consistently delicious food. It was easy to see why it’s difficult for the business to meet demand, particularly at the height of the tourist season. It was well worth ordering early and being flexible about the time of collection for the delicious meal that we received. Thank you!

Strange experience popping to someones house for takeaway but a must do when in the area!

Good to find something more exotic in an out of the way location. Frankly a bit fed up with similar menus everywhere in the Highlands so very nice to have a complete change and well prepared Thai food.

The food from start to finish was exceptional. Very high quality food with fresh ingredients, spot on pricing and huge portions. Can't fault this local gem in any way, will most certainly be back.

We were spending the weekend in arasaig and tried this Thai takeaway. Oh my god the food was amazing. We had a range of dishes including beef parang and chicken panang, monglorean curry and other dishes. All the food was beautiful. The mangolorean curry was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. Not expensive at all and well worth going to. Fabulous food and service

Amazing Thai food in such an unlikely place. A great take away! It is slightly overpriced but given the remote location it's understandable. A definite must for a cosy night in.

I called to place order at 4pm and was told food will be ready at 8pm. She was very apologetic and said soon she will stop having orders and people placed orders from the night before. I'm glad we waited because food was lovely, expect beef in red curry was little hard. We enjoyed the real taste of Thai food. Just make sure call early!

But possibly one of the most delicious. Really yummy Thai food. Simply order by ringing the front door bell giving at least two hours notice then wander back at dinner time for delicious reasonably priced freshly cooked food. Wonderful.

We last were in the area around 5 years ago and had a superb Thai meal from here, so we were delighted on our return that the take away is still going strong. Ordered in the morning for an early evening collection and all was ready for us. Just as good as we remembered! The food was amazing!

Have had several takeaways from here over the years and the food is always fantastic. Huge portions of proper, delicious Thai food. Just decide what you want, phone up on advance and collect it in your time slot. Perfect!

Really large starter portions.pancake rolls and chicken satay. Enough for 4 people. Then chicken with cashews and pork with pepper and garlic. Both really tasty But no sauce with the pork. Also food have been a lot hotter

We ordered our food the day before and it was ready on time for collection. Very tasty and plenty of it. This is not a traditional takeaway as you need to order at least 2hours in advance as the food is freshly cooked to order. Well worth the time to do this though. The Thai salad is really hot ..warning.. but extra tasty.

Bestellung per Telefon problemlos, allerdings muss man zwei Stunden Vorlauf einplanen, bis die Bestellung fertig ist. Das Sunset selber ist in einem normalen Wohnhaus untergebracht, wo die thailändische Köchin vermutlich auch selber wohnt. Das Ladenlokal ist der Flur :-)

Great little takeaway! We phoned our order in on our way out for the day and specified a time for it to be ready for, which it was. Everything was delicious - best Thai food I've had, and the portion sizes didn't disappoint, especially with the spring rolls...loads of them!! Was great to just be able to pull up, pick it up and take it back to our lodge. The rice with butter and garlic was even better than I imagined it would be.

Came here a few days ago, due to accidentally booking my accommodation in the wrong village. It turned out to quite a fortunate error - I definitely did not expect to find the best Thai food of my life in a random village in the Scottish Highlands!

Delicious, flavorsome & tender, easily the best takeaway ever. All the food was beautifully cooked, especially the succulent prawns. Well worth the wait.

Keep forgetting how good Sunset is. Only tend to have a takeaway when friends are visiting us as we did tonight but we must try harder and have one more often. It's the best meal I have had in a long time - absolutely wonderful.

We were staing in a carvan in Arisaig & had seen a menu on the campsite so decided to give it a try. We ordered food from here last night and were initially apprehensive when we were told it would be a 3 hour wait until the order was ready. We were hoping that the food would be worth the wait & we were not disappointed at all. Food freshly cooked & tasted amazing. Truly Awesome! If you're in the area, be sure to give this place a try.

We have been getting our Thai carry out for years here, Fantastic when you are in a Caravan, The meals are out of this world and a great treat lots of variety in the Menu. But you must phone at least 2 hours before but so worth every penny highly recommend

I've already reviewed this after our first visit, but just had to write again to say we went back again - twice more, trying different things on the menu and everything we had was absolutely delicious.

We experienced this unusual Thai take-away when staying on holiday in Mallaig at the superb Carma Cottage.Even on a weekday this take-away is very busy and orders may be problematic even with the minimum 2hr in advance order time,but she does take orders several days in advance if you want a particular time slot.

Leider ist das Sunset kein Restaurant, sondern nur ein Take-Away, aber die Qualität der Speisen ist ausgezeichnet und die Preise absolut fair. Eine sehr gute Alternative zu den sehr viel teureren Restaurants in Mallaig.

Whilst camping at camusdarrach we decided to treat ourselves and not cook on our final night. What a treat this was. You do have to ring a couple of hours before collecting as everything is cooked from fresh but it's well worth the wait. It is take away only.

This was our first visit to Sunset Morar, but it won't be our last. We picked up a menu from the gate as we drove through Morar a couple of days ago and last night rang in our order. We enjoyed a very tasty meal - our first Thai food and it was both fragrant and delicious.

This is a Take Away only, but well worth to make a stop to pick up a meal.

We have visited this part of the Highland around 6 or 7 times over the last few years. We come at various times of the year from Easter to October. We have had a lovely take away from the Sunset twice in that time. The food was lovely on both occasions, the only problem is that on other occasions we have tried to visit but not found it open. There needs to be better information on the signs outside to inform customers of the times of year they are open.

Superb. The best meal available for miles around provided by a lovely couple who are obviously anxious that their customers receive the best value meal available.
