Great food and service The waiter described the unique dishes on the menu very well so there were no surprises The portions were substantial, well presented and served on a hot plate, so food stayed warm for the whole meal They also have Kingfisher beer on tap (which is way better than in a bottle). It was a very pleasant experience. The restaurant was very busy so consider making a reservation.

We had decided on an Indian and I took ages poring over the reviews. Sam's reviews had the odd bad one which gave us a little trepidation but overall did not give me cause for concern and we decided to try it out. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff were attentive and friendly. The food was well cooked and tasty. The mains lived up to the promise of the menu but the sides were also well prepared and cooked - for example the mushroom bhaji is often just bland in many restaurants but in Sam's, it had spice and taste - just as flavoursome as the main course. Sam's also tries to be a bit different which I appreciated:- I like the creaminess of Kormas but like spiciness too. In the past I have asked restaurants to spice up a korma for me and they have either refused (can't do that with such a creamy meal) or the result has not worked. But Sam's had "Mirchi Korma" on the menu - a spicy korma!! Excellent - and it really works. Not like a jalfrezi or vindaloo but still medium hot. Would choose to come here again.

Not authentic indian, more of Bangladeshi. However, tastes good. Minimum spend of almost 17 pounds not including drinks is a house rule which I haven't seen anywhere else.

Been in a few times and Sam's is always consistent. Food is always delicious and the attentive staff will make sure you're looked after. Promptly seated on arrival, drinks and poppadom's delivered quickly while we viewed the menu. Delicious and generously portioned starters of Pakora and Prawn Puree were polished off with enthusiasm. Delayed the Mains slightly at our request following that. A subsequent Balti and Mohanwala were absolutely mouth watering, very tender meat that just fell appart. Naans were also really good. Been in a few times and always enjoyed it.

Food and service was very good, the lighting could have been lowered slightly, if there was music, I couldn’t hear it, no complaints there. The toilets are very clean, functional but small, no complaints there, The seats were uncomfortable, possibly over used . Overall I would recommend this restaurant, but don’t sit too long.

The worst place to have Indian food. This restaurant is run by Bengladesh people so it's not authentic Indian food. We ordered tandoori king prawns but they served us deep fried battered prawns. When we asked about it, the staff were very rude and said this is how they make tandoori prawns "here". We ordered Chicken biryani, and the disappointment continued. They gave us something that tasted like fried rice. DO NOT GO HERE!

Absolutely first class food, service and ambience! Always made to feel very welcome by all the staff and our lovely waitress Louise! Just when you think it can’t get any better - dishes can be catered for individual tastes. The chef is clearly very talented and my king prawn puri as a main course (instead of a starter) was absolutely delicious and a very generous portion! Hubby’s lamb green herb sizzler (menu option is chicken) was equally delicious, melt in the mouth lamb which he thoroughly enjoyed. Super delicious freshly cooked Indian food at its best - definitely number 1 in inverness.

Expectations were high. Expectation were exceeded! Sam's 25 Dec menu and experience is not one that I'll forget, long into the New Year. I arrive to a warm welcome and it seems a hive of waiters at my bidding. I usually know what I'm ordering, but this menu sure puts the brain cells to work. The choice seems as wide as the ocean, and I imagine that I'm reading something from the Queen Mary or Titanic (without the sinking feeling) Let's start with starurrs, as they say round here. I go for lentil soup. Now this is a useful bit of multiculturalism to find this served. It's culturally perfect. Warm, sweet, cosy, comforting. Crunchy too. Cooked just right. It calls associations of winter evenings, fires flowing, cats purring and grans nodding on rocking chairs. Course two promptly arrives. The service is excellent. I've gone for a razzla. Never heard of it? Neither had I! Its ra ra indeed. Hot and sweet and exotic dish, made me think of jungle, rainforest, diners sitting together in a circle, discussing, eating, savouring. Well, they say all good things come to an end. Not there yet though as there is pudding. Note that name. Not desert, which I always associate with camels. Here I go traditional and take a good home made xmas pudding. Rich and tasty, not too sweet, nor thankfully too much. All this is washed down with a lovely hot coffee. The atmosphere is merry, seasonal, but not artificial or falsely exuberant. In fact, everything about today, welcome, waiters, dishes, service and seating chimes perfectly. Talking of chimes, I'll ensure that I come back here early in the New Year. Alasdair.

Thought we would try a delivery from Sam’s for the first time. . Great experience from phoning in, with a query about the cooking of a side dish, promptly passed onto someone who could clarify. Food arrived perfectly cooked and even waiting 20mins before eating it was perfect. One dish was tandoori king prawns which were still excellent after that time, soft and delicious. UNFORTUNATELY I HAD TO LEAVE 1 STAR FOR WRITING THE REVIEW: We were extremely hungry after a long journey and was refused entry due to being judged by the owner, we felt very upset and degraded as the owner said ‘’I’m sorry I don’t think you will enjoy our food.’’ He was very hesitant to let us dine here as we are hardcore Indians from the Punjab and they do not wish a bad review to be left by us, therefore did not let us even enter! The food must be very bad if they felt threatened by us! we have never been so insulted and unwelcomed.

We wanted to get some North Indian food on our Scotland trip after a long day, and luckily, Sam's was open until later. As vegetarians, we were told that it was mainly a non-vegetarian place but we could get a few veggie options. We opted out of getting any fried starters as we were told that they were fried in the same oil along with meat. We went straight for the mains: Butter Tandoori Roti, Butter Chapati, Kadai Mix Vegetable, Saag Paneer and Dal Tadka with a side salad of onion/lemon/chilies. The food was really well made and we enjoyed it and would recommend. However, the only thing that could be better was the service - we did not feel welcome. We did not receive a smile or any greetings throughout the experience. The staff was polite but curt and lacked the warmth and hospitality that one would appreciate when dining in. Not a single waiter from the many once came by to ask how we were doing and whether we needed anything or to even inform us that the kitchen was closing and we should place any last orders we may have. However, I think this may just be towards certain groups of people because I saw them smile at and check in on local-looking folks.

We were on a road trip to Scotland from UK and wanted to have an Indian food. We reached Inverness around 9 pm and found about this place. This place is located at very ideal and easily approachable location. The joint claims it is Indian but it is actually a Bangladeshi owned joint. However the ambience was really good - the joint was spacious and having nice Indian menu. The food was so good, the service was so fast. An ideal place to have comparatively a good Indian meal on foreign land.

It’s a Bangladeshi restaurant run by Bangladeshis, so one has to admit that more than 70% Indian restaurants in UK are run by Bangladeshis in name of Indian cuisine. But the food was good we ordered Chicken karahi , paneer and chicken tikka platter. Chicken tikka was chewy and they used red food colour which in India hardly any good restaurants are using now. No comments on naan as it’s no where near anIndian naan. Seating is tight and air circulation is poor. Service is just ok.

First of all this is not an Indian restaurant as their name suggests. This is a Bangladeshi Muslim restaurant. They loot their customers by setting the minimum must spend amount as 16 pounds per person only for food excluding drinks which they tell after taking orders. Tandoor food was no near to Tandoor cooking. It was full of gravy. They have no variety in their menu such as deserts or any exotic dish. How the hell can they pressurise their customers to spend 16 pounds minimum. Disgusting place, rude staff. Never visit.

A hotel which forces their customers to spend a minimum of 16 pounds per person excluding drinks. They force their customers to drink fast and eat fast and leave the premises. Really bad food both taste and quality wise. A guaranteed awful experience for customers. We ordered mango lassi, daal tadka, baigan sabji and chicken kebab. 1. Lassi was made from expired yoghurt it had a smell and was sour. Could have caused food poisoning. 2. Chicken kebab was not made fresh. It was from a packaged ready to eat box. Very tastless and hard. 3. Yellow daal had no tadka and very thick. Just a boiled taste. Just an awful experience the food plus the ambience both. The place was almost empty with just a second table filled. They should just closed this place and spare the customers from bad food.

Nice Indian restaurant with a fine dining feel inside. Not the best or probably most authentic Indian food, as I’m sure some of the tastes have been modified for European tastes but it is an island of flavour in a sea of quite bland food (guess I’m not a fan of British/Scottish food). The chicken biryani is delicious and flavourful. The Dahl was quite bland though and the texture was almost puréed. Service was lovely, professional and efficient.
