Carrbridge Kitchen in Highland

Very very long service (more than 30 min for a panini and 1 soup). The staff seemed unorganized, but pleasant nonetheless. Average price, food is good but nothing extraordinary either.

Stopped in here on our way from John O'Groats to Tarland. Great decision. The fire was burning, and the hospitality was equally as warm and welcoming. We both enjoyed the piping hot tomatoe and basil soup of the day with Cheese Scone. What a great place. Highly recommend Carrbridge Kitchen.

On the surface the restaurant is ok, but I have heard that the owner is a dishonest person, does not pay her employees, tells numerous lies about them and is not trustworthy. Not recommended!!!

Lovely staff and fab coffee also warm and draft free! Didn’t try the cakes but they looked great!

When I was in the restaurant the staff was very nice. Now I had the pleasure of returning there, talking to the staff I found out that the boss named Charlotte does not pay them. Very sad

Called in Sat morning on way home from holiday. Unfortunately the breakfast rolls were overdone and we had to return them. HOWEVER : I cannot commend enough the staff's effort to rectify matters. They went over and above, not only refunding, which was all we requested, but insisting on making us a replacement, and were really lovely about it too. For that they get five stars from me.

Lovely artisan cooking. Had potato and onion soup to warm us up on our journey home from the Highlands. Lovely log fire burning too. Very friendly staff.

Had a lovely evening meal there last week. We were let down by another establishment and whilst wandering the high street we decided to try the Kitchen. This was a great decision, the food was tasty and plentiful, very fair prices for food and wine! Recommended!

Drove 3 hours and fancied a meal. Service poor and waited 30 mims before i had to ask others if they wete waiting too. In the end paod for our drinks and walked out shocking service needs not to be greedy and serve what they can only delivery. Stick to the hotel on the corner same food and better service time. Visited today for coffee and cakes, lovely coffee but the scones were not fresh and when mentioned she was very offhand and dismissed it went ahead and charged for it when it was barely eaten, shame I won't be back lack of warmth and friendly atmosphere a smile wouldn't go amiss

Stopped for quick lunch break off the A9 during long drive south for 2 adults/3 kids. Staff couldn’t speak or understand English, order confused, food overly fancy with sauces and dressings not detailed in menus and that simply didn’t work and spoilt the dishes. £70 for 5 meals most of which left behind. Felt ill driving the rest of the afternoon. Terrible.

Would put 0 stars if an option. Went at 6pm and was told to come back in an hour as chef was leaving the kitchen. Went back and was told to come back in an hour. Terrible communication.

If you have traveled to the highlands and lamented the difficulty in finding a salad or alternatives to the typical Scottish pub menu, I stumbled onto a small local eatery in the tiny village of Carrbridge on our drive through Cairngorms National Park. For sure, they have fish and chips and the classic Scottish standards, but they serve a delightful menu of alternative choices. For example, when was the last time you had sweet red pico [Little] peppers in a salad? The desserts are to die for. My wife is a desert aficionado. She had the millionaire pastry with chocolate dolce de Leche shortbread. She was oohing and aahing with every bite. Owner Charlotte Kennerley was very attentive to making sure we had a great experience. Fabulous place to stop for lunch, snack or cake and tea on your way to or from Cairngorms.

We enjoyed the most amazing strawberry and raspberry tarts and coffee. The lady was very welcoming and gave us great service. I bought a quiche to take away which was delicious and tasted homemade. Will definitely be back when next in the area.

The cafe only reopened 4 days ago, only called in a few hours ago for coffee and cake, the choice of cake is amazing, and they don’t disappoint on the taste test. The drinks were really nice. Going to go back for lunch. Wishing you all the best.

Popped in here for lunch while visiting the packhorse bridge. We had the soup and sandwiches for £6.50. I had broccoli soup and hummus and pepper sandwich. Hubby had beetroot and orange soup and brie, bacon and cranberry sandwich. QR code to scan in. Food was tasty and we took 2 keylime pies home.

We stopped in after a reccomendation to visit when in the area. Staff were friendly and followed all covid safety measures. The pie, quiche and cakes we enjoyed We all delicious. Definitely add this to your list for eateries when in the area.

Stayed in Aviemore for a week so just had to revisit this excellent eatery, more than once! Wonderfully warm and welcoming with the wood fire going nicely. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were top notch while the coffee from the Inverness Roasting Company is one of the very best I’ve had anywhere.

Enjoyed coffee and cake in this lovely restaurant which is situated on the Main Street and close to the car park. The menu for lunch was extensive and reasonably priced.

I may be too easily pleased, but the sausage roll with mustard seed was excellent. This won on quality and quantity, helped with chips and the sun. I’m assured the broccoli and salmon quiche was good, too. I think the seating is limited, so get in early.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Inverness airport. It’s a charming small cafe with a decent selection of both light and larger items. We were both just really in the mood for a light bite, and had soup (my partner had a sandwich with his as well). The soup, which was a mushroom and tarragon soup, was very tasty and filled us up nicely for our flight home. Prices were reasonable and service was friendly and attentive.

Was asked if I had a smart phone for track and trace, a good idea, unfortunately wi-fi signal kept dropping so asked waitress if she would take our contact details. She said no, use the App as it was illegal for them to take details when the customer has a phone. I spent a long time trying the App again and was almost done when the signal dropped at which point I may have uttered a mild expletive at my phone.As my Dad went to pay another waitress approached in a confrontational and aggressive manner demanding to see my phone as proof that we had 'checked out' on the App.I showed her that it wasn't working but she continued to raise her voice and again refused to take our contact details and said I should stand near the counter for a better signal. It still didn't work and she started to get angry, strangely, she did not ask to see the anyone else's phone. In the meantime, my Dad had found another member of staff who apparently said there was 'no problem' and took down our contact details.As we left a woman appeared from the kitchen and also took our details, she said the waitress claimed I had been swearing at her.This was not true, also illogical, as the waitress had been ranting non-stop like someone trying to start a fight in a pub, it had been virtually impossible to get a word in.I asked her what I was supposed to have said. The answer seemed to be 'well, other customers have been causing problems' - Can't think why?Everywhere else we visited our contact details were taken without issue so this seems to be a problem they have created. The food was actually very nice, so if you visit maybe just take a gumshield and hide your phone.

Stopped for tea and cake, both were good but at £4.50 per small slice of carrot cake I think a bit too expensive.

We stopped in Carrbridge for a quick pit-stop off the A9 and had a nice lunch at the Carrbridge Kitchen. Cullen skink was really nice, service excellent and did takeaway coffees too for the road. Would go back again.

Stopped here for lunch. Could not book ahead. Was part of the check in system which has been set up locally. Cullen skink was excellent - but the curried soup was so thick & hot in temperature you need to leave for a long time till it is safe to eat! I didn’t . . . . . . . . . The panini was good as were the chips - till I saw that the bag of presumably frozen chips sat on the floor without anything under it! Health & safety????? Neither the chef nor the waiters noticed it - which I presume means this happens a lot???? The chips issue rather spoiled the lunch for me!

Called in for lunch, Cullen skink and a haggis panini very good, my wife had curried carrot soup and bacon & mozzarella panini. The soup was so hot she burnt her mouth, she had skinny chips with her panini,but was put off eating them by seeing the bag of frozen chips lying on the kitchen floor throughout our meal. Come on guys get your act together!

Great lunch today! Pies were fantastic, staff were fantastic and ever so friendly. If you want a quality lunch this place is worth it!

We fancied a coffee during our journey to the North and stop at touristy things on our way. After checking out the old packhorse bridge we got a nice coffee and a lovely bit of cake. Daim bar cheese cake was lush😊

We come on holiday to Aviemore every year and always like to visit the Carrbridge swing park and Carrbridge kitchen. This week we have managed 3 visits, twice for take away coffee and cakes (tiffin and rocky road-yum!) and once for lunch. Cullen skink, tomato and basil soup and the chicken bacon and pesto mayo panini- all delicious. Love this cafe, cannot fault it

We went for lunch today and the food was delicious and service very fast .we sat outside and enjoyed the food and sunshine .All the staff were very attentive and helpful .Thank you all so much will be back soon

Visited today with my mother (who has bad arthritis, so has some mobility issues). Staff were excellent offering a great table outside (under cover) which was ideal to minimise any C-19 exposure. There was a great selection of customers, a big family on bikes, a couple bikers, holiday makers and locals alike.The whole place has a lovely friendly vibe, chatting to customers, clearly busy but with no feel of being rushed. I can’t recommend the porridge enough, it’s not like any other’s you’ve tasted.. add the cream & honey.. wow!Cakes and possibly the best Flat white coffees ever, I have oat milk but the velvet texture is as good as regular milk.Spotlessly clean, everything made fresh to order, not to be missed.

Ordered poached eggs with salmon on toast. Really great food, lovely service and the cakes are to die for! Hand sanitisers are everywhere and the staff all are wearing masks correctly. Hopefully we will visit soon

This is a great place for food, the people and food are exceptional. Everyone loved it including the kids. Enough choice on the menu to try different things and the cakes are a real treat. Dealt with Covid restrictions really well and the wait was worth it. Dog friendly too. Can’t recommend this place more.

Sat outside for lunch today, it took 20 minutes to actually get served and a further 20 minutes to be served our food. ( we had ordered soup) It was very quiet with plenty staff! The soup was tasty

This was our first time eating out since covid 19 lockdown and it was absolutely delicious! A beautiful day in lovely Carrbridge meant we could sit in the sun and enjoy the home-cooked delights of this lovely little cafe. The menu is simple but exceptionally well done, tasty burgers, creamy coleslaw and the best skinny fries! Followed by amazing cheesecake and brownies, when it tastes that good what more could you want! The staff were attentive, warm and welcoming, it’s a must stop if you happen to be in the area.

Stopped in to pick up some cakes and boy do they do cakes well. Was not cheap, but hey if they were cheap they would be your standard Brakes factory made stuff. Millionaires Shortbread, immense, Rocky Road, immense, Brownie, immense, Lime pie, immense.Came back later in the week with the family and had a great lunch outside with more cake. The sausage rolls were very very good! From a Covid perspective the team were the best year, a serving team and a clean up team. Really good approach and well executed, many larger organisation could learn form it.Keep up the good work and looking forward to my next hit of the Oreo cake.

We visited yesterday and wish we had found this great place earlier. The kids are still raving about the pizzas (and they are experts) Kate and Dave manage to make simple meals special, served with a smile in great surroundings . Definitely the best meals we have had this week and the family have voted to go back today for second helpings .Customer care at its best . Highly recommended .

We had the steak & ale pies for takeaway dinner. They were delicious, and the meat was just perfect. The mash was also buttery and yummy and the onion rings amazing.

First class food. We had Cullen Skink, broccoli soup and a tuna pannini. Staff were helpful and service good considering the current restrictions. Small premises. Very clean. They do carry out. (I think).

We had the home-made steak and ale pie with hand cut chips, mash, vegetables, onion rings and gravy. Everything was great, generously portioned the beef was perfectly cooked and delicious.We booked a collection slot several days in advance and it was ready to collect right on time.Very pleased with the service. Hopefully we’ll be able to sit in sometime post-pandemic!

Very friendly and helpful with a tasty selection of food, much, I think, homemade. Proactively brought our dog a bowl of water, too. Very clean and several outside tables.

Amazing and friendly place. The food was fantastic we had a burger; venison pies and salmon and asparagus quiche followed by key lime pie and scones. Best key lime pie I’ve ever tasted! Would highly recommend.

Cosy atmosphere with lovely options for lunch. The pies and cakes on display looked lovely but we just had soup and sandwiches/paninis which were very tasty. The children enjoyed the kids meals but they weren't that big. My 7 year old could have done with a little more.

On our way to Pitlochry we decided to stop here for a light lunch.I had the Cullen skink and it was the best I ever had, apart from the large portion, it had big chunks of fish and the potatoes were nice and soft and really tasty and good brown bread to go with it.My friend had the meat pie and it was filled to the brim with meat and it came with gravy on the side. Salad was very fresh. Had cheesecake to go as I wouldn't have managed to eat it after the soup and now I wish I had also taken a slice of the Key lime pie, maybe next time :)

We had read in a tourist hotel brochure that the Carrbridge Kitchen served great coffee (Inverness Coffee Roasting Company - yum!) so popped in for lunch today with our four year old. What a warm welcome! The service was genuinely the best service I have ever experienced! EVER! The coffee was perfect! Flat white with oat milk to die for! Food was great, we had warmed sausage rolls, homemade and delicious with AMAZING hand-cut chips. Wee one had the leek and potato soup and ate loads. The staff were great with little ones, bringing paper and colouring pencils and were very warm and friendly. Wish we lived closer, however we will certainly be back anytime we're in the area. The only room for improvement would be a bottle of Heinz ketchup rather than sachets - for taste and environmental benefits.

Modern and welcoming cafe. Been visiting this cafe for the last few years as we are local. Cake sizes used to be far too small, however they are more of a normal size. They price themselves higher than others in the apparent belief they are more superior than competitors. Using local produce for their cooked breakfasts, but that's not uncommon these days. However coffee and cake is absolutely fine - but nothing special.

I was staying over the road in the Cairn Hotel for the second time in just over a year. When I was here last, I had identified the Carrbridge Kitchen as somewhere to try. The online reviews were excellent. Unfortunately, my itinerary and the opening hours didn’t work out. I just about made it this time! I decided to try the Cullen Skink as it is a particular favourite of mine when I’m in the Highlands. The bowl was filled to the brim, the amount of fish in it, outnumbered the potato and the flavours were sublime. Two doorsteps of really fresh brown bread completed a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Next time (and there will be one) I will try one or two of their homemade pies.

We visited for a light lunch. This wee bistro is clean, well appointed (including the 'facilities') with comfy seats and a cozy log burner, particularly welcome on a freezing day. Homemade pies were delicious - the individual gravy jugs appropriate to the pie fillings were a special touch. Am not one for chips normally but these chunky fellas were great, the side salad much better than the usual half hearted sprinkle of leaves you get in some places. The coffee was delicious. Service excellent. Staff couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely come back!!

Could not fault the food or service - Cullen Skink was amazing, log fire welcoming. Only suggestion would be pads on the seats.

There is nothing I could fault about this place. The staff were wonderful from the get go. Everyone we saw engaged with our wild three year old daughter and all were very friendly, taking the time to make the kids feel special.

Absolutely a great bang for your buck. A wonderful place with superb atmosphere, incredibly clean, warm environment and warm people.Get more than you could expect from a regular and common location versus this place. Enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Carrbridge Kitchen. There were two daily soups and plenty of choices on the menu. I enjoyed a delicious soup and panini sandwich. The baked goods looked fantastic and I’m sorry I didn’t get to try them.

This was my first visit to Carrbridge Kitchen though it did come highly recommended. I was greeted warmly and seated near the stove which was a bonus as I’d been outside all morning. I was spoiled for choice on the menu and went for the (recommended) tomato, cabbage and bean soup accompanied by a panini. Both were delicious and I have to say it was possibly the best panini I have ever had. I also had a good coffee. I would definitely go back to try something else although I’m not in the area for long. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
