The best restaurants in Scotland

Went here for a breakfast but got delayed so had to choose from the lunch menu which really worried me. Firstly, the "Wee Kitchen" is on a caravan site, so I wasn't expecting much. Secondly our waiter seemed a little unsure. Thirdly, I have food intolerances but my daughter has severe allergies and worries about eating out. I should not have worried! The waiter was just making sure of our choices before the chef came out and spoke to all of us, assuring us that she would find us all something to eat. She was so good, taking fully 10 minutes to ensure all of our needs could be addressed that my daughter ended up having a cauliflower bhuna and cajun fries. She never eats like this outside our home. I had a nasi goring which was stunning. Our partners had a battered fishfinger sandwich, which was in fact haddock gougons handprepared using shetland fish, and a speciality pulled pork pie with apple sauce and stuffing. This last delicacy looked like it could be a main attraction at a medieval banquet and tasted positively regal. To be honest, I can't say enough about the quality of the food and service. The price was extra ordinary - 4 main meals, 3 coffees, 2 teas - amazing care and detail - grand total £43!! The chef told us that if we book in advance she will ensure vegan bread is available. Currently she has a full gluten free menu available, but gluten free, dairy free and vegan is a really specialist item! This is rarely catered for anywhere in my experience. I have experienced this level of care before only 3 times, once in a 5* Hilton, in the executive lounge, once in a Michelin starred restaurant and once in a highly commended restaurant. This is how we were treated in a caravan park cafe. Miss this gem and you will regret it!!

Realmente encantador café en el corazón de Edimburgo. La variedad de productos horneados en la ventana llamó nuestra atención, así que por supuesto entramos. Teníamos la galleta de pistacho y pastel de terciopelo rojo, ambos eran divinos! Por dentro el personal era muy agradable y estéticamente la decoración era muy fría! Los precios no eran malos, sobre todo si tenemos en cuenta que se encuentra en una zona turística.

Nos sentamos afuera, lo cual fue agradable, pero la única desventaja fue tener que entrar para llamar la atención del camarero. Dicho esto, el personal era muy amable y educado. Las hamburguesas Dirty Dipper y Chicken KFC estaban absolutamente deliciosas, aunque la empanada de garbanzos coreana vegetariana estaba desafortunadamente bastante seca. Es un poco caro, especialmente porque las papas fritas se venden por separado.

It was very pleasant. Relaxing. The cakes were really nice. An escape from the crazy weather. Service was pleasant - very welcome.

Lovely venue, delicious breakfast and brilliant service from the staff group. Will definitely head back to sample lunch and their amazing cakes.

Great restaurant. Amazing food, great service, brilliant atmosphere and simply a great experience all round. I had heard of a lot of locals going here and had tried to get in a couple of times but it had been fully booked so we decided to try again in January. The place was still busy and I can see why. I think we’ve found our new favourite place.

Unfortunately you got the wrong day, as long as it appears tomorrow at the same time.

Great food and good coffee! My husband had the big breakfast which was great value at $24. The rest of us had the corn fritter with bacon, pancakes and eggs Benedict. No complaints.

Excellent lounge bar which apart from having some unusual beers/Cider also offers an excellent food menu. The food is really good, and both the Steak pie and haddock are highly recommended.

Quite disappointed to go there and realised that it is a chinese fish shop and takeaway not what was show in pictures. Please don’t go by the super review prior to mine as there us a change in management or something.

We popped in here as we had read great reviews, they had a wide range to products, some definitely a little overpriced. As it was early afternoon, there wasn't much left on the bakery counter but we did get a few treats, which were delicious. As others have said, the man behind the counter wasn't very talkative, not even a smile. Worth giving it ago for something a little different!

We have takeaway regularly and the food is always exceptional. So reasonably priced for top quality! We had a large family gathering and ordered munchie boxes and children’s meals. Completely exceeded our expectations. Everyone really enjoyed and commented on the quality and freshness of the food. Cannot recommend highly enough! Would not hesitate to order again! How could I not leave a review for this outstanding butty shop? From the moment I walked in, the service was warm and welcoming—it instantly set the tone. Then came the food… and wow. You can tell it was made with care, because every bite tasted like a dream come true. Delicious, comforting, and clearly crafted with love—this place deserves all the praise.
