We popped in here as we had read great reviews, they had a wide range to products, some definitely a little overpriced. As it was early afternoon, there wasn't much left on the bakery counter but we did get a few treats, which were delicious. As others have said, the man behind the counter wasn't very talkative, not even a smile. Worth giving it ago for something a little different!

We came across this bakery when looking for food for a picnic. What a great place. Everything is made on site and to the highest standards. My husband chose sausage rolls and I had a slice of vegetable and feta quiche. This was some of the very best food we’ve ever tasted. We also bought drinks and some dried fruit. I’d eat there every day if I could. Absolute perfection.

Great bakery with a small shop selling organic/wholefood produce (including refills of milk in glass bottles) and they also do coffee to take away. I can highly recommend the pain au chocolat, cinnamon danish, Moroccan sausage roll, and the sweet potato and chilli pasty! Also had the pizza on Friday (5-7pm only, recommended to order in advance) which was fresh and very tasty with a sourdough base.

I've not been to their cafe but regularly buy their breads and quiches, etc. All of their products are first class too. However, phone in advance before travelling far, as sometimes they are shut tight for days - about 3 weeks after christmas, and, this week on Monday March 16th, they were closed at 9.30 and 10.30 am. It would help customers if they had a notice on their door with opening times - not a lot to ask, is it? The foregoing points drop a 5 star rating to a 4 star rating.

I wish I lived in Castle Douglas so I could shop here for my daily bread! There is a good selection of bread, cakes and savoury products, along with a cafe. They also run baking classes. We went in on a whim and ended up buying spicy chickpea rolls (like veggie sausage rolls - so tasty we bought more for our journey back to England the following day) and almond croissants. We also had coffee and lemon polenta cake in the cafe - all superb. The staff were also very friendly. We will definitely return when we are next in the area.

Ignore the mean minded low scoring reviews, obviously penned by sliced white addicts. This place is just great, the bread is wonderful, the savoury selection awesome and as others have said the sausage rolls and cakes are not to be bettered anywhere in the area. People drive miles to collect fare and eat at the cafe which should tell you all you need to know. Is it pricier than some cafes well probably yes but if you want quality then its a no brainer. highly recommended.

The title says it all. A good selection of bread, savouries, and sweet treats, all freshly baked and great quality. We had sausage rolls, a couple of loaves, and some cakes. Yes it was more expensive that Tesco, but the quality is so much better. We didn't have time to go to the cafe, but the stuff we got to take away was fantastic, we will be back!

We came across this little gem totally by accident. There was a small noticeboard on the highstreet that I just happened to notice. Am I glad I did! I bought a rye loaf and it was absolutely marvellous. It was very authentic and I even think I detected a hint of beer in the mix? Anyhow, as we queued up to pay past the wonderful quiches, foccacias, sausage rolls and pizza slices I noticed the cafe and experienced no difficulty whatsoever in persuading my partner to go there for lunch on Thursday August the 29th. He chose a homeade vegetable soup with the olive foccacia. The soup was a mediterranean vegetable soup which was red, rich and wholesome. To accompany this, he had a slice of olive foccacia which had obviously just been prepared that very day. I chose to have a slice of roasted vegetable, spinach and cheddar quiche. The pastry was thin and cripsy and the vegetables within were roasted to perfection. The set on the custardy mixture was perfect - just wish I could replicate it myself! The salad accompaniment married well with the quiche and I loved the visual impact and taste of the nasturtiums. My partner had a coffee which with which he was very impressed and I had some tap water which pleased me greatly. Unlike one of the google reviewers, I love the industrial nature of the interior. This is rustic and unpretentious allowing the food to speak for itself. The surroundings are bohemian as are the clientelle - a mix of young, middle aged and older customers. Basically, the food is amazing and everything is super healthy and fresh. Go there. You will not be disappointed. It's definiely one of my top places to visit next year. P.S. Make sure you buy the sausage rolls!!

The prices are reasonable and the location is quiet, while just off the high Street. The staff here are very friendly and attentive, they offer table service for the food and the coffees. Also on sale here is ground coffee, local cheeses and a wide selection of snacks and cakes. I would definitely recommend for coffee or light lunch, for any ages or mobilities.

Went today Friday 30/03/2018. Very disappointed . When u go in it smells of bread lovely smell but that's where the goodness stops . Was going to get a fresh loaf but most were overcooked very crispy and quite a bits of black bits. The bakery behind the counter looked in disarray. Anyway noticed they have a wee cafe so decided to try it out . It's very cold even though it's in a bakery decorate very badly. My wife had facaccia bread mixed veg with salad £6.70 wife gave it 3/10. What I want to know why does it cost so much for a bit salad it's about £3.50 for just the salad also we never got any salad. The server Gill seemed very distracted I was going to have a sausage rolls but they were small and £3.50 ridicuilious price so got a scone thought £1.70 was a great price even though they were quite small , Gill asked did I want butter and jam said ok for a bakery the scone was very overcooked very hard but I was fuming by this time scone £1.70 but if you want butter it's an extra £1.00 what the hell who wants a dry scone to sit in a cafe it was £1.20 to take away so no mix up this is a joke you get a scone you need butter with it I understand if was cream etc bad for a town that struggles to keep up with the name food town of Dumfries and Galloway. Will not be back never again will I pay for butter for a scone and it was tiny bit of butter

Bread from earth's crust is exceptionally good. Croissant are fine - cakes are not up to the same standard. Coffee is like stepping back to the 1970's - filter only. Flavour is okay - but just too weak and coffee has moved on. They need to really think about what their customers want, rather than what they want to serve. Castle Douglas is good for food and this place could be stand out brilliant. But just isn't there yet. A bit of tweaking required - please do it. I want to come here a lot more than I do.

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back

Visited the Frothy this morning for the first & very last time as the cafe is closing. Whilst the cafe was comfortable the coffee wasn’t the best ever tasted and we were stunned at the price! Compared to other coffee houses close by it was surprising; could this be a reason they are not finding it profitable?
