Have visited a few times over the years as its on the Fife Coastal path and they welcome muddy boots and paws. It has limited opening times at the moment ( fri- sun 10- 4) and a small menu but its perfect for a walkers stop. Homemade soup, usually stovies, macaroni cheese, hot and cold filled rolls , sandwiches and toasties abd a small selection of home baking. Lovely hot drinks and I think it byob too if you fancy. The front of house person has been there for ages and us always very friendly, efficient although always rushed off his feet. It's a tiny place that fills up quickly so you may have to wait on busy weekends.

Finally managed to find this place today after having tried earlier this year to find it. Was worth the wait. Very windy cold day but inside a lovely warm log fire and even warmer service. Lovely coffee and the burgers what can I say. Massive helping and the burger was to die for. Having this at lunch time we weren’t able to eat anything in the evening it was excellent. Brilliant banter and other customer there at same time very friendly. Dogs allowed extra bonus. Service second to none. Didn’t have any homebakes but looked delicious..oh I forgot sorry we had some shortbread .....delicious. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t beeen

This place is called Suburban pantry and is a convenient place to stop off when on the coastal path. It's a cafe/pantry that sells usual fare, soup, cakes etc. The soup was okay - my husband enjoyed it. The staff seemed really busy, even though the cafe wasn't busy. Quite a pleasant and fresh environment. I'll be back next time I'm back on the part of coastal path.

Stopped off for lunch last Saturday, 18th November. The food was simple and delicious. I had the home-made vegetable soup followed by tasty toastie. Everyone was friendly, it certainly had the community atmosphere. Only one teeny weeny moan; as no one appeared to being watching the rugby on the telly, I asked if it could be turned onto other channel. Unfortunately the waiter didn't oblige , and the sound was down low, and the rugby was on, and the Welsh were playing , and yes the waiter was Welsh! So really a teeny wee moan not enough to spoil my lunch!

We had done part of the Fife coastal path walk from Dysart to West Wemyss on a beautiful sunny day in the Easter holidays and by the time we reached West Wemyss we were ready for a sit down and a refreshing drink which this great little cafe provided. We sat at a table outside and looked down a quaint alley between some housing towards the sea. The choice of things to eat and drink was amazing for such a small community run cafe in a seaside village. The staff were very friendly and helpful and deserve a special mention for making this cafe the welcoming place it is.

We were on a heritage tour ( our last name is wemyss) and planned to visit West Wemyss, in Fife.It is a charming little village, much nicer and quieter than Crail. The streets were very narrow and winding, a real challenge for North American drivers!! The people are so friendly. Although we did not have time to eat here, The Wemyss Walk Inn is a great place. I know this place very well as I live just up the road! There is a delicious selection of cakes, soup, sandwichs and coffee which is a great stop off point for walkers or visitors to the area. The cafe is now solely run by volunteers which is even more impressive and the cafe is going from strength to strength. The morning I visited I decided to treat my friend to a takeaway bacon buttie and can of coke for our walk. The bacon buttie was delicious (though I am bacon biased!) and it was nice to visit, giving the cafe my custom and having a chat with the local volunteers who run it. The cafe has now started running 'Fish Fridays' again serving up specialities such as cullen skink. Well worth a visit on weekends but also open during the week from Wednesdays.

This is a great place to call in to, on the Fife Coastal Path. It is a 2 min detour from the seafront path through a close, towards the very quiet main town street. Well behaved dogs are allowed downstairs or there is a seat outside or across the road beside the play park.. There isn't a huge choice but the soup, sandwiches and home baking are fresh, lovely and very good value. It feels very much like your having lunch at someones house so the limited choice is made up for in simple tasty food. Very welcome spot as there really aren't many good spot directly on the Coastal Path.

Our walking group are always on the look out for nice, new places to lunch and the Walk Inn has very definitely made it on to our list. Although our walk on the Fife Coastal Path was in early March the restaurant was opened specially for us by prior arrangement (we were a group of 26!) and we were all accommodated in the pleasant upstairs restaurant. Despite the variety of orders we were all served promptly with freshly cooked, tasty snacks. A similar, efficient flexibiity operated when paying the bill so that no-one had to collect money for a table or group. The Walk Inn was set up as a community initiative with Lottery funding and it deserves support - not just because it is such an initiative but because its friendly staff serve good food in comfortable surroundings. Walkers (and others) should mark this place on their maps!

The dining area was cosy with driftwood heart shaped candleholders, a log fire and a warm welcome from server Susan. The food was exceptionally well cooked, with very nice presentation. The special menu for Valentines night, made it hard to choose, however when I made my choice I had one of the best steaks I have had in in a long time, I could have had sea bass or a veggie risotto. The starters and puddings were also very tasty. I had an extremely enjoyable dinner for a very good price and look forward to my next dinner here. Occasionally something will turn up at just the right moment and make your day – this was one of those moments. During February the Fife Coastal Path can throw anything in your face, from glorious warm sunshine to bitterly cold westerly winds. It was definitely the latter sort of day when, feeling in need of some cheering up, we stumbled upon this unexpected little surprise. It’s amazing how quickly a good pot of tea and a bacon roll can lift the spirits, especially when made from a proper Scottish morning roll and best back bacon. A great little bistro and lovely service too.

I was walking along the Fife Coastal Path and found myself lured into the Walk Inn by a sign offering food and drink which required just a small detour. I wasn't hungry but was in need of a drink. Although it was after lunch, I must have been the first beer of the day and was pleasantly surprised when nearly two pints (in the pipeline) were drawn off before pouring my cold one. Well done it was most refreshing. The cakes were advertised as homemade and looked appealing but I don't mix cakes and beer.

3 of us visited here yesterday afternoon after a recommendation from a friend. We wanted to try the fish and chips. When we entered we asked what was on the menu and where told they had ran out of fish. Bit disappointing with it being so close to harbour but never the less we would order something else.We then traveled up the stairs to the busy, small restaurant. We sat down at the cleanest table which still had a pot of tea and empty used cups from the person before. The table was also covered in sugar. Not the best of starts...We where them served eventually by the gentleman behind the bar about 10 minutes after arriving and having to ask for menus. He seemed for interested in seeing to the regulars. We where then told what was on offer. I was amazed that they had the fish after being told 10 minutes before that they had ran out. Little bit of breakdown in communication. We placed our orders, one was having a starter which was the fish cakes and for main the lamb. Myself and my wife where just having the main which was fish and chips with peas.Whilst placing the order which ordered our drinks too.Another 15 minutes past, again the man serving by his self was more interested in the regulars. Still no drinks. My fathers fish cake starter had come out. It smelt like it had been cooked in old vegetable oil. Not nice at all.He said it tasted ok.After waiting nearly 30 by this time enough was enough. Still no drinks, tea pots still sitting on a sticky manky table. We told the waiter just to keep the order we had placed as we where going. The order for the fish cake was around £6.49 and was told £5 would be enough...how very kind. What I noticed put me off also, one of the regulars had just recieved his food order. My back was too him so not sure what it was but the waiter said to his. I don't have any forks can you just use your fingers? Haha what a classy place! I also noticed a waitress asking the waiter if he required help, after a long pause he said yes. Them she was never seen again! When we where leaving my wife past on our concerns to the mangers husband. To be honest, it would be a cracking wee place if it was ran a bit better. More staff in restraunt area to attend to customers and clean tables. Also to be kept up to date with exactly what is and not on the menu.Don't like to slate local places, especially when I'm from fife myself but my visit yesterday was not pleasant at all.

On our first visit we (two people) ordered buffalo steak pie & mash each, along with a coffee & can of coke. Coke was multi pack tin and I was given small glass, the steak pies were individual shell pies, which was microwaved separately as was each serving of mash, as a result by the time the second meal was ready, the first was stone cold when served. Meat in the pies were dry & quite big chunks. Not a good first visit. The saving grace is we weren't charged for the meal only for the drinks. Certainly won't be back

We have just returned from the West Wemyss Walk Inn where we thoroughly enjoyed a light lunch. I opted for a feta, roasted red pepper and humous pannini and my husband chose the cheese ploughmans. Both were beautifully presented on slate mats with the salad garnish lightly drizzled with dressing. One other table was occupied when we entered and as they left three other couples came in for light refreshments. One couple, possibly local, entered into animated banter with the staff. Preparation and serving staff spoke to diners interestingly and appropriately. We decided to enjoy a second cup of coffee after our lunch and before settling our bill. Given that this is a facility for walkers the local community and those of us visiting this conservation village the facility is well furnished with good clean toilets and fare prices. I will visit again and recommend it for others to visit.

I had been recommended this place by my mum and dad, they had previously been here in the evening for dinner and really enjoyed it.So myself and my partner thought we would try it for a change. We went one Sunday morning, looking for a breakfast. We went in and there were staff behind the counter but we weren't really acknowledged, so we found ourselves a seat. It was empty apart from one other couple. We had a look at the menu, but they didn't seem to serve any breakfasts. We then asked the waitress if they did any breakfast at all, and we were told we could 'maybe' get something upstairs, she would need to check.?She then came back and asked us to follow her. So we went upstairs to a an equally empty room, and were given a paper menu, the only thing that was to my taste was a bacon roll and a cup of tea. My partner had the same. But we were starving and fancied a bit more, but thought ok this will perhaps eas the hunger pangs till an early lunch.I couldn't help but notice a large open wound on the waitress arm, it made me feel queasy and felt it should've had a dressing on if handling food. When the lady brought our rolls out to us, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The bacon looked mega overlooked. I was so hungry and couldn't be bothered with the hassle, I tried to eat it, but I nearly broke my veneers.!Really disappointed with the whole experience. It wasn't cheap. It was below average quality. And I didn't tip. I won't be back, and I won't recommend it.

Staff were so helpful they found out the bus time so we could return to Dysart before dark. We returned this week before doing West Wemyss to East Wemyss and back, also a nice walk. Had lunch this time - spicy parsnip soup and a tuna melt panini. Both were very tasty, nicely presented. Children's sandwich was fine and all very reasonably priced. I would recommend anyone doing this bit of the costal path should plan a stop here. It took us about 45 minutes from Dysart, and slightly less from West to East Wemyss. In the summer I would try going right on to Buckhaven. As well as the cafe they do a bistro upstairs with evening meals Thursday to Sunday and a brunch at the weekend so I'm definitely going to try that. It's run by the community so nice to support that, but mostly I'll be back for the cakes.

I had heard great things about this restaurant and stopped in for lunch. I was on my own and nobody greeted me when I went in so I sat down at a table and read the menu. Despite there being two or three staff working behind the counter and bringing food to other customers, I was ignored. After more than 10 minutes I got up and left. Nobody acknowledged me.

Having had lunch my wife suggested that we try dinner with a couple of friends. When we arrived to be seated I was surprised to find a 50inch plasma tv switched on along with three of the locals obviously enjoying a few pints. They were later joined by another couple neither of whom ordered food. We had assumed that the Bistro was primarily for dining. A lady diner at the back of us ate her meal whilst reading the daily newspaper, strange! The menu presented to us did not resemble the menu on the website and in the local newspaper. We ordered wine and were given a choice of one white, one rose or one Spanish red(obviously a very small wine cellar) We were advised that there was no smoked haddock pie which left a choice of fish and chips, curry or a pork loin. We ordered our starters and then we were advised that the pork terrine was off but the chef was checking to see how many portions of chicken liver pate he had. We declined and I was the only one to have a starter of a bean soup which when it arrived was so piping hot I could not taste it. When the main orders arrived the fish and chips were good but the pork with black pudding mash was served luke warm with no vegetables. We had cranachan which left a lot to be desired on presentation. Normally I would have complained but as this is a community run project they need all the help they can to make it work. I noticed on the website that the chef is a lady however on the night it appeared that the chef was a young man so could this have been the reason for the organised chaos. It was obvious that there were problems as our waiter apologised and offered us free coffees which we declined as we decided to cut our losses and drive home. Having made a twenty mile round trip we were left feeling disappointed the way our evening panned out.

Home made mushroom soup, home made buffalo pie, potato salad with chorizo and dill, home made choc chip cookie, all washed down with glass of a charming tempranillo. Lovely - you would easily pay much more for inferior food elsewhere.

Doing the Fife Coastal Path and stumbled over this place at lunchtime, community run so worth supporting for that reason alone, great homemade soup, paninis and sandwiches. Menu looked interesting, local real ale in the bottle and an all round good vibe

This recently opened wee restaurant is a real find, situated on the fife coastal path in the very quiet village of West Wemyss. The menu is original and concocted by Jane the chef, who makes a great job of turning out some very tasteful dishes at reasonable prices.Lunch is served every day with evening meals friday and saturday.A REAL FIND THAT WILL BECOME VERY POPULAR.

What a discovery ! Went for a walk along the Fife Coastal Path from West Wemyss and afterwards to the caves in the opposite direction. In between had one of the best Ploughman's lunches ever at the Walk Inn. Great fresh food, lovely staff. Will definitely be back.

Having wandered round Culross, we were hungry, so popped in here. We had quite a wait, but it was well worth it! The two (handmade) soups were delicious – wish the bowl had been a bit bigger, though. The sandwiches were really tasty, on lovely thick brown bread.

Party off 3. All meals starters, main and sweet all good. Although there were two large parties in the service was still very good. No complaints. Will be back soon

This is the best coffee shop in St Andrews - but only in terms of the coffee and the food. I love the drinks and the bagels especially are *french kiss* but I would love to be able to come and sit, and enjoy my bagel at a table. The issue is that the already limited seating is taken up by students who have pretty much always finished their drinks. I really think it would be a good idea to have maybe half of the seats reserved for people who just want to come and sit for 10 minutes to have a drink because the shop itself is so nice and clearly very well finished. As a student myself I know there are plenty of study spaces in town so a study free area surely wouldn't meet much resistance? I for one would visit the cafe much more often, instead of just for takeaways. That said, the staff are amazing and the coffee is superb.
