A very cosy and intimate cafe tucked inside a lane on South Street. Visited on a rainy day for hot chocolate and scones, both were top notch!

Absolutely gorgeous - beautiful outdoor area, the best scone and caramel tart we've ever had and possibly the loveliest, most accommodating staff I've encountered. First time here and we'll definitely be back (with the dog - the little doggy platter looks great).

Thinnest piece of ham possible in cheese and ham sarnie. Accompanying salad dry, cucumber dried out. The speciality tea a huge disappointment. Can only think as it was 2.45 when we entered the very scruffy courtyard the staff were thinking of home time. Guy was cheerful enough but girl not so good. Overall very disappointed

Ducked inside here for some eats and BLESS MY SOUL!!! The Soup and Sandwich was EXCELLENT!! The Foggy Tea was so tasty, that I had a second one to ensure I'd stay awake all the way to Edinburgh! We LOVED OUR EXPERIENCE HERE! We we return to Scotland, I'll drive the breadth of the country to eat here again. My Wife echoes my sentiments!!

Stale scone. One bite was enough. Even, though we informed the waiter we found out he hadn't revised the otherwise untouched scone off the bill. He wasn't authorised to do this. We should not have assumed he was going to do the right thing. Anyway no tip and a bad review.

Please come visit this little gem! Hidden in a quiet alley it was such a pleasant surprise, good food, incredibly nice staff, and super dog friendly to the point of bringing a little dish of treats and a bowl of water for my dog (after asking if that was OK of course!). I will definitely be back and recommend it to all my friends :)

We had coffee and cakes but they are all shop bought and the scones were very stale. We also enquired about allergies and they didn’t know as the items were bought in but they had thrown out the packaging. The atmosphere was nice and a but quirky.

We were looking for somewhere to eat in a Sunday and everywhere was busy and we came across Jarvies they had one spare table so we sat down. Menu was simple but lots of tempting choices. Prices seemed OK for St Andrews, however when the food arrived the quality and size was above what was expected. My husband had baked potato and I had the focaccia and both were delicious. Generous salad and crisps on the side, overall great value. We will be back again, particularly as we didn't spot the cakes until we were leaving so will have to try them. Good choice for vegetarians and a couple of vegan options as well

We stopped here for a drink and snack. All seemed good, drinks were nice, but our scones were the worst we have ever had! We passed on the cream and berries, opting for scones and butter. We did not expect our scones to come cut open and smeared with margarine! They were horribly dry, possibly yesterday's, pretty unpleasant. We mentioned this when paying and got a perfunctory apology. Not good enough! Very disappointing.

The cutest cafe in St Andrews! Great service and huge plates of delicious food. I was complimented by the charming waiter for managing to finish the enormous mozzarella focaccia, which came with a range of tasty salads. The piece de resistance was the scones: fresh and fruity with lashings of cream, fresh mint, and fresh berries. My new go-to lunch (and tea) spot.

Alright spot for a drink. Nice because it’s off the Main Street and has a nice courtyard to sit in when the weather is good. However, they didn’t have the first things we ordered and in fact we had to ask for menus in the first place. I heard another family ask for items which they also didn’t have. Tip: if you’ve ran out of something, make it known, score it off the menu board or let guests know before they order it. Prices comparatively reasonable but food average.

Visited a way back last year, in the midst of lockdown. We sat in the little outdoor beer garden which was super cute and acted as a wee suntrap. I ordered the coronation chicken salad and I swear!! It was one of the best things I've ever tried (to the point where I now make something similar a couple of times a week at home). The staff were lovely and it was inexpensive. It's a little hidden gem.

We were beginning to think we'd never get anywhere to eat in St Andrews as all of the restaurants on South Street were really busy. We then spotted the sign for Jarvie's and headed through the lane to the courtyard to check it out - there were plenty of seats available, so we were sorted! The cafe isn't open inside just now due to COVID, so it's a case of ordering at the counter then waiting for the food to be delivered to your table in single-use packaging. All four of us were delighted with our main courses, which were hearty and very reasonably priced. The courtyard itself is beautiful - with the sun shining overhead, we could have been in the south of France rather than the east of Fife! The staff were very helpful - the whole place has a 'hand crafted' and family feel to it. Some of the main courses had run out by the time we arrived, which is a good sign!Looking forward to returning to see what the cafe is like inside. Already know that it's a real gem of a place.

Buena comida, servicio fabuloso, encantador ambiente hogareño.

Whether you want a little piece of seclusion in a wee courtyard or a super stylish place inside, I would highly recommend Jarvie's. The menu caters for all tastes and it's all freshly prepared. The salads are amazing and the specials board also has some interesting lovely food. It's really good value for money too. I had phoned 2 days before to book a table for my Mothers birthday, the gentleman on the phone told me they do not take bookings but would be open from 11.30am on that day. Turned up to find that they were closed to get appliances fitted. I would have thought if appliances were getting fitted this would have been booked well in advance so they should have known they would have been closed on the day in question. My mother was very disappointed as she had been keen to go there. I can't comment on the food but the customer service is poor to say the least.

We were looking for an outside space yesterday to catch up with our good friends. We fancied a glass of something nice and a ‘sharing something’! What we were looking for wasn’t on the menu but within a couple of minutes we got exactly what we wanted, a delicious tasting platter with meats, cheese, olives, chutney, veg crisps, bread...
