The Tavern at Strathkinness in Fife

Fabulous food with friendly, professional and courteous staff. Steak pie and fish and chips all round were amazing. Warm cheese scones provided as an entree by the chef, which was lovely. Will definitely return when back in the area.

Brilliant meal with excellent service. Only complaint was that the restaurant could’ve done with better lighting. Reading the menu with phone torch isn’t the best.

When in the area I always visit this place and again I and my friends weren't disappointed. My only criticism was that , I appreciate we were 6 minutes late , we seemed to be rushed to our table and rushed to chose our food from the menu. A more relaxed approach suits me better. Having said that .... well done to everyone we thoroughly enjoyed the evening

Good food, service, and atmosphere! Not our first visit....probably 5th or 6th. Only reservations this time were.....bar service was understaffed and slow, and the gravy in the steak pie was.....strange tasting, to say the least!

Had a meal for a family celebration. From the initial contact arranging table to the meal was first class. The staff went above & beyond to ensure all our party were accommodated with their specific requirements. The staff dealt with everything in a quiet & professional manner. The service was first class & the food absolutely fabulous! Well done to all involved a great place to celebrate & enjoy great food.

seems like it may be the best informal dining for miles around. Comfortable eating area with splendid views and friendly service. Alluring menu ... especially beef and fish -- outstanding fish pie -- very well executed, generous portions, fair prices. Highly recommended.

Visited the Tavern on two occasions while staying in St Andrews and both time the meals were excellent. Hubby was lucky enough to get the chance to have Oysters which he said were delicious (not my bag at all!). Anyway tried the poached Salmon with Scallops to start and second visit I had the sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection, followed by the Panacotta which was gorgeous. It is best if you book a table for here as it is very popular. Would certainly recommend. The menu is varied as are the prices.

Wir waren sehr dankbar, dass man uns ohne Reservierung noch angenommen hat. Das Essen war ausserordentlich gut, ua Jakobsmuscheln auf blackpuding und Fishpie sehr zu empfehlen. Der Koch pflegt auch eine gute Gemüsezubereitung, in Schottland sonst nicht so üblich. Wird viel von Einheimischen frequentiert. Für den nächsten Abend hatten wir dann reserviert, ist zu empfehlen

During our holiday in St. Andrews, we came across this seemingly inconspicuous restaurant in the neighboring town of Strathkinnes, which turned out to be a real insider tip: high-quality food is served in a cozy, authentic atmosphere. Typically Scottish dishes are served in a refined form. You can eat the inevitable fish and chips here as well as, for example, B. various types of excellently prepared beef steaks, salmon fillets, risottos, burgers and vegetarian dishes. There is also a “Soup of the day” and a dessert menu. The service is extremely friendly - like almost everywhere in Scotland. The best thing is that you sit table to table with people from the area and just realize that you are in Scotland! A reservation is recommended. And: on some days the typical quiz evenings take place! In our experience, you can eat better here than in many restaurants in St. Andrews and for a reasonable price!

If you want a local experience, this is the place. Food was traditional Scottish fare and delicious. Dinner consisted of oysters, fish fry, ribeye and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly. Staff couldn't have been friendlier. And there was live music!

Steve was an unbelievable host. My chicken dippers tasted like beef, just how i like it. And Tony behind the bar was incredible, that boy can down a guinness. Cindy was flaming hot and her food was even better, honestly one of the best days of my life. Yes! Yes! Yes! My very favorite tavern and the steak pie is a must. Wonderful place run by lovely people.

Amazing food at and amazing place with lovely friendly staff. Ate here on Monday and they coped with a group of 11 of us (including 2 children) with no issue. All food was lovely and came within a reasonable time. The children's menu is the same menu as the main menu just with smaller portions resulting in a happy child as she could have what everyone else was having. Very reasonably priced. If we are in the area again we will definetly be back.

One of the best meals we've had in a long time, despite loving our food and eating out often! The pork loin was to-die-for and I will certainly be trying to recreate this beautiful combination at home! Perfectly cooked by an incredibly talented chef and more than worth every penny! The owners are also super lovely and very knowledgeable about their great whisky selection!

Fantastic food, highly recommend the mushroom haggis starter! Service was great and no need to ask for table water as it is served.

Always busy and booking required at weekends. Guest ales are local and they even make one themselves! Food is good but similar to Edinburgh prices. Overall recommended and nice for a walk if you're staying in one of the local campsites. Edit. Now London prices!

Pleasantly surprised to discover this pub with a fabulous restaurant! Tasty dishes, like pork stuffed with apple, homemade gravelax salmon, desserts to die for! Very friendly service, and a very tasteful rock playlist 🤩!

Decent wee Inn, great barman Austin, chatty and very professional currently doing a degree or 2 at St Andrews University whilst working in this bar to feed the family, nice place and looked like it could produce fine fair, top notch!!

Fantastic meal. Large portions and really delicious. Beautiful views and huge gin selection. We had cajun salmon with salad and potatoes. Pecan and seaweed salmon with potatoes, carrots and a rosti. Veggie haggis wrapped in aubergine and steak pie. Highly recommend.

Great place for a meal. Turned up without a booking on a Friday night dring St Andrews graduation week and they made room for us. Recommend their steak pie and ribeye steak.

We headed to the Strathkinness Tavern based on a recommendation from our B&B. The wait staff was super knowledgeable about not only the food menu, but the drink menu and beer selection as well. We started off with a few cheddar scones which were amazing followed by our entrees of a Steak & Ale Pie, Haddock Risotto and Pecan Crusted Salmon. Every single one of them was amazing!

Gorgeous setting, delicious food, kind staff right outside St.Andrews. We went on a Thursday and were bummed we were missing the live jazz on Friday evenings!

Nice quiet village pub. The barman is my neighbour. They have a limited menu. Good portions but like St Andrews in general ridiculously over priced. Only open from 5pm. Parking is an issue

Nice wee pub. Food was well priced but more importantly it was fantastic. Cheese and garlic scones, celeriac soup, ox cheeks and rib-eye, all great. Definitely going again.

One of the best places in Fife for food and Drink, excellent service and amazing quality of food and drink, the staff always make you feel super welcome. I've been a few times and shall continue to do so going forward.

My husband and I have just had an amazing meal here. Every thing was perfect - we were each given a lovely warm cheese scone to start with and then our starters, main courses and desserts were delicious. There was live Scottish music in the adjacent bar, which enhanced the evening and the service was excellent. Thanks Strathkinness Tavern!

Restaurant was very busy and noisy.....this did not stop me from having a superb meal with friends. High quality food and drink, friendly attentive service and great view towards the Tay and Tentsmuir. Well worth a visit!

We had a lovely meal for 4 this evening and everyone's dishes were delicious. We had the fish and chips, steak pies and fish pie. We also had two of the tap beers which were also very nice and service was great. Fantastic evening, thanks!!

Partner had the scallops with Stornoway Black pudding starter, I had chestnut/mushroom/ port soup - both were delicious! This was followed by an amazing fish pie, and a melt in the mouth venison pie. Astonishing quality at very reasonable prices - service was also first class. Will be back - ASAP!

The Strathkinness Tavern is my local. I don't go often but every time I do I just love it. It is a very welcoming space and the staff are all delightful and so friendly. The restaurant is excellent and over the years we've had great family celebrations here. The food is always beautifully cooked, plentiful and delicious. We're very lucky to have such a great pub in the village. Don't take my word for it - visit!

Really nice. Loved the amuse bouche-(just googled it!!!) In other words the cheesey/garlic scone.

Beautiful food, hot & delicious! Couldn't fault it....lovely! Did feel a bit rushed to be out as had an allocated time slot. Although the staff were pleasant, the lady with blonde hair (owner?) came across as quite abrupt at times. Whether this was due to trying to hurry us up as unfortunately some of the party didn't arrive on time (which can happen esp with a baby!) but even being the first to arrive she was saying she'd have to have our orders soon without the rest of the party there ! Bearing in mind it was a large table & the amount money being spent, thgt the customer service would've been better !

Went here for a birthday meal and a definite ten out of ten . I had the fish pie which was definitely the best fish pie I've ever had and then a biscoff pudding . The portions are big and full of flavour . The staff are friendly and efficient will definitely be back 😊

This is well worth a try 😃. It was a by co incidence the we were here. The food was delicious and good portions at a reasonable price. The staff were very good, helpful and extremely good at the job. It is not on a main road but if you are nearby, give it a try.

This place is a must the menu and the meals are fantastic very nice people who run this pub fantastic view's definitely worth a visit but you would need to book a table .

We visited for the first time for a meal tonight and we had a really lovely meal and the scallops and black pudding were spot on followed by two really nice main courses. Well looked after by friendly staff. Would happily recommend if in the area.
