West End Restaurant & Takeaway in Highland

Quite disappointed to go there and realised that it is a chinese fish shop and takeaway not what was show in pictures. Please don’t go by the super review prior to mine as there us a change in management or something.

We visited West End Restaurant & Takeaway in order to buy some food, of course - to takeaway, being in a hurry because the busy program of the trip. We noticed the best quality of the food, and the courtesy of the staff.

We were very happy with the food, the staff was nice, the place was clean and the atmosphere in there was really nice. We will be going there again when we come back to Inverness.

Excellent haddock chips & mushy peas presented well on a silver platter with lemon Staff lovely Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would recommend Crispy batter, tasty fresh haddock& chips kept warm in stainless steel container Thankyou for the best fish tea we have had in a long time

Popped in to get my son and i a chippy tea. I ordered the Cod and Chips. It was super tasty. Very generous bit of Fish and the Chips were as good as i have had from a chippy in the past 30 odd years or so. The Chips had the lightest crunch to them and were soft and fluffy inside. My son really enjoys his Sausage Suppers, so cant really go wrong. Everything was cooked as we waited, so we know it was fresh.

Food is very good. Had 10 minute wait for take away once it was ordered. Everything made fresh as ordered. Several were in line ahead of me. Clean restaurant. Will return while I am here.

Busy enough place to let you know they are well established with returning clientele. Two prices. One for take out and one for sit in. Either way is good. Nice big piece of fish, chips (fries) and a small salad. Comes with tartar sauce. Ask for ketchup. They have televisions to look at. Beer. Pop. Other products on the menu. Really good. Well worth it.

Just had six lots of haddock and chips with peas from here. Took about ten minutes and all were absolutely outstanding. May well go in here for more during our three night stay. Chips were perfect, mushies delightful and our haddock fresh and tasty with delicious crispy batter. A credit to the proprietor.

Un choix de différents poissons cuisinés en fish&chips (même des langoustines) du poulet panée dans le filet...le tout vraiment très savoureux. Prix raisonnable, surtout pour cette qualité. Si l'extérieur ne paye de mine, la salle est propre et l'accueil très agréable. ils font aussi à emporter

We've been to the West End a number of times and highly recommend this restaurant for most items. The fish and chips are superb: fresh, lightly battered and large portions. The calamari and Thai fish cake are also excellent. On the other hand, the prawns were too heavily battered for our tastes. In addition, be aware that prices are significantly higher if you eat in.

I take my dad out most Fridays for a fish supper . After passing the restaurant/take away on a few occasions we decided to go here this evening : and can say this will be our regular from know on. Dad had the fish, and said that’s the best he has had in a very long time , ( 79 years of age and enjoys his fish) says how good it was , I had Thai fish cakes and they were just gorgeous not to spicy ,, all meals were served in silver trays , with little baskets of chips, and a small dish of either mushy peas or side salad. The presentation was good , puts some restaurants to shame , and price was very reasonable, if looking for some where to go please give here a try you will not be disappointed.

Fast food de base avec des produits corrects mais pas beaucoup de goût. La panure et les frites sont trop grasses on a pas fini ce qu'on a commandé et pourtant on avait faim ! L'accueil est très limite. Pas de service puisque c'est un fast food. Je ne recommande pas.

I have lived in Inverness 30 years and this is by far the best chip shop I have had anything from in all that time. Have been in regularly on Sunday’s to save cooking. Today I tried the black pudding it was amazing so tasty. I’m not sure what kind of black pudding it was but it was so good. Keep up the good work guys 🖐

Best fish and chips I've ever tryied in Inverness. I have tryied this place before and the food was so bad that I throw through the door my fish and chips back to the restaurant. This time it was perfect. Nice and crispy. Never before had a better fish and chips in Inverness. If the quality of food gonna be same all the time that's gonna be my spot daily food.

Popped in here as we were staying close by for a few nights. They menu was a typical chippy one although did have to google what Red Pudding was. We decided to sit in which made the prices jump £2 per supper. Thought this was a bit excessive. The service itself was fast and the food was lovely! I would recommend a visit...if you are taking away.

The fish and chips is like every other similar meal you can have throughout the UK. One time I ordered a steak pie and was sorry. I can't speak to any of the other offerings.

Since the restaurant’s owner is changed,food quality is really poor. Fish and chips/scampi/calamari were totally tasteless. Not again!

The best fish and chips I’ve eaten. Crispy, juicy, fresh. And so many alternatives with different white fish, shrimps, calamares, even sausages and chicken. And the service was very efficient as well

Looking at the other reviews, I'm wondering whether I visited a different chip shop! Someone has even called it the best fish and chips shop in Scotland!?! The middle aged guy that served us looked as if he didn't want to be there and the fish and chips was far too greasy. I ended up throwing a lot of the batter and chips away. Sorry but I won't be returning.

Been in Inverness a few times before passing through and the odd stop but never actually stayed before. Group of us decided to head up for a weekend and see Noel Gallagher. Before the show we decided to have a meal somewhere first place we came across was Zizzi's turned away too busy second place Rocpool restaurant, fully booked then a place called Prime, the prices were extortionate gave that a body swerve. Fed up with trying we decided to head for the gig. Then we passed this corner chip shop with quite a Que of people but we seen some tables free and decided to try our luck. 8 of us sat and promptly handed out menus. what happens next was quite remarkable considering how busy this place was. we got served beautifully presented amazing fish & chips the best of its kind in the Scotland in our opinion. we would go as far to say that there's no place like this in Edinburgh or Glasgow were we came up from. people really have to try this place to believe the quality because its unbelievably good.

This was the best chicken & chip's we have eaten in Inverness for years!! not a bit of grease to be seen will defiantly be back soon.

We discovered this little gem whilst walking past. Even though they were about to close, they remained open for ourselves and another family of six. We were served the best fish and chips we have eaten in Scotland. Very fresh, the best crispy batter, prompt service and very generous servings. The restaurant is spotless and the owner and staff are very friendly and efficient.

I spotted a coffee machine through the window and that's what initially brought me in. I normally avoid greasy fish and chip shops, as I'm a fussy and let's be honest quite a snobby person, but this place is different!

On a recent trip to Inverness and when we had walked back from the Caledonian Canal Locks, we decided to grab a fish supper to be eaten alfresco on the banks of the River Ness which flows through the city. It was a lovely balmy evening and we did not feel like eating inside. The staff were lovely and promptly prepared our order which tasted superb.This place is worth considering if the weather is conducive to alfresco dining in Inverness.

The locals will know this place so this advice is primarily intended to serve visitors to this fine old city. I have picked up a fish supper from here many times on recent trips. The place is spotless and the selection is good. Generous portions of fish have been freshly battered and fried to order every time I have been. Staff are pleasant.

Decided to sit in to eat my fish supper. The haddock was cooked to order and had the crispiest batter I’ve eaten in a long time. Came with non-greasy chips and a salad garnish. Was filling.

This is a small neighborhood chip shop a bit off the tourist streets. An Englishman on our bus tour recommended it as a "proper shop" so we gave it a try. Fish was fresh, lightly battered and cooked just right. Staff was attentive. This was probably the best fish and chips we had on our 3 week visit.

Φρέσκο, πολύ νόστιμο, μεγάλες μερίδες Haddock με πατατες φοβερό, αργεί η παραγγελία βέβαια να στο φτιάξει, κλείνει νωρίς για να κάτσεις νομίζω κατά τις 7, πήρα take & away και τα έφαγα έξω στο δρόμο σε ένα παγκάκι. Θα ξαναπηγαινα.

We've changed from.our 'usual' chippy as they had gone down hill terribly.We went to West End fish and chips, I had macaroni and chips and my partner had a sausage supper. The chips were brilliant, not soggy or greasy, the macaroni was lovely as was the sausage. Well worth it. Definitely be back again

3 fish suppers. 2 cod and haddock. Light batter and fresh fish. No complaints here. Definitely try eating in. Waitress service with a smile. Great value in a nice clean and friendly place.

Après avoir été refoulés dans des restaus complets toute la soirée, nous nous sommes installés dans ce petit restaus de fish and chips (et burgers).

Unser Essen kam schnell an den Tisch und hat super geschmeckt. Es wurden extra Saucen angeboten (Mayo, Ketchup, HP). Ich habe Panko Prawns gegessen, mein Freund Kabeljau - jeweils mit Pommes. Die kleine Salatbeilage empfanden wir als nette Aufmerksamkeit. Die Angestellten waren sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend. Wir würden wieder kommen!

Der Restaurant ist sehr sauber und ansprechend eingerichtet. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und die Bestellung kam schnell, heiß und hübsch angerichtet an den Tisch.

Ate here and it was good food. Went back a second time on Saturday afternoon and there was only one table with people in it. and was seated at a table. Waited 5 minutes and another couple came in, who were seated at a table. Still no server. About 5 minutes later a group of about 15 wandered in and were given menus. Then the same girl who seated us began taking orders from where they proceeded to take the orders from the other couple and people there. Will NOT go back.

Á base de peixe frito. Estava bom e o preço é bastante aceitável. O requinte não está presente mas a comida é boa.

Food was very nice, server to begin with was nice but forgot to take our plates away so another server Kyanna very kindly took our plates away for us

I chose the haddock and it was so tasty I found myself pulling off the batter to taste the fish--then eating the delectably crispy batter by itself.

We were looking for a real Fish and Chips place in Inverness when a kind women recommended the West End. Each portion had two huge pieces of fish, perfectly crisp and very hot. The chips were good as well and the slaw a nice fresh mixture of ingredients. Our waitress appeared to be alone in the restaurant, but she was so efficient it was only minutes before our group of 7 had our meals. So glad we got this recommendation from the local lady.

Call in by chance and had a delicious fish & chips. The size of the meal was generous with a side salad. The staff were friendly and attentive. The dining area was clean and well maintained. Would eat here again if we were in the area

Dies war das beste Fish & Chips Gericht, was ich jemals gegessen habe! Die selbstgemachten Chips absolut top und die Panade des frischen Fisches super! Die Bedienungen sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Preise für Schottland eher günstig.

Fish was a funny pink colour and was soggy and watery. Very expensive. On a positive note it looked clean but i will not return here.

I can’t speak for much on the menu, but I ordered the Haddock and Chips meal and it was delicious! The fish is flaky and fresh and lightly battered. The chips are the norm but still very well done! The staff is friendly and prompt. I had the biggest craving for fish and chips and just stumbled on this gem because the sign outside simply says “Fish and Chips”. I would very much recommend splitting the meal - the fish piece is huge and a generous serving of fries! I wasn’t able to finish it on my own, even though I really wanted to!

Du choix de poissons bien frais ( haddock, morue ...) ou poulets en friture , taille « bien servis » avec une petite salade et des frites. Tables modernes en bois. Service agréable par une jeune fille très pétillante.

Vandaag een fikse haddock met chips gegeten. In een dun krokant korstje zat een fikse verse vis die prima smaakte. Het gerecht werd mooi opgediend met een bakje sla, frieten en saus. De hoeveelheid was zo ruim dat het bijna teveel was allemaal. We hadden nog maart pies en coleslaw erbij. De coleslaw had veel mayonaise maar dat schijnt hier gewoon te zijn. Vriendelijke snelle bediening.

A really extensive menu coupled with modern decor together with truly impressive food quality and this place is a must visit.

Without a doubt the best chippy in town! Stornaway black pudding and cocburns white pudding abd haggis are amazing! Chips are amazing aswell!

I have never, ever, been into any eating establishment as obviously clean as this one. As other reviewers have said this has both a take away section, and an area which can sit about thirty diners. I ordered the haddock and chips, and was a tad concerned when it was served on a metal platter - but the food remained warm while I ate it. The haddock was simply delicious, obviously fresh, and covered in a light batter, and the chips were well cooked and a decent portion. I can understand why this chippy is rated so highly.

Being from Sydney I do agree the UK does the batter better for fish and chips. Ordered haddock and chips and the serving was very large and the crispy batter was light and so tasty.

Absolutely fabulous establishment!

It is lovely and clean inside, there is a good choice on the menu with the option to sit in or take away. The chips were the best we have had in ages and the rest was really tasty too.

I visited this gem later on in the evening and expected them to be closing up with just a few bits left from the evening service. How wrong was I?! The friendly waitress (tiny girl, very smiley and polite, think her name was Ellie) took my order and I was amazed that I could have macaroni cheese with chips as I've never seen this in a chippy before! It was fresh, hot and the mac n cheese was amazing. My brother had a cheeseburger and Mum had chicken, all of which was freshly cooked and tasted delicious - it's clear they use the best ingredients and really care about what they are serving. All the staff were lovely, really chatty and patient while we decided what to have. The restaurant area is lovely and not what I've seen in other chippys - as in, it really is more like a restaurant but without losing the authentic taste of a proper chippy. Fab decor, well located, reasonably priced and I must say it's the cleanest chippy I have ever been in! Can't wait to go back when I'm next up in Inverness. Thank you!

We visited Inverness for a few days & came across the catch Fish & Chips wow!!! The place was immaculate & the staff were just so lovely. The food was excellently presented & we didn't have to wait long despite there being a Q at the take away bit. The fish was really fresh & my girlfriend had the chicken it was even better. The food wasn't greasy unlike other chip shops we've been in. We intended to have quick bite to eat before a wander along the beautiful river but the atmosphere in the place was so nice we ended up staying for a few drinks & a good old natter, it was a lovely evening! Definitely be back.

This place is excellent. It's the best place in Inverness to get fish and chips. It's immaculately clean and the staff are so friendly. You can either sit in to eat or takeaway. The food is always fantastic, fresh and the portion sizes are good. The only drawback is that you can't park outside very often. Also, as a local it would be good if we could phone up or order online for collection. Nonetheless it doesn't detract from The Catch. It's really great and I will always choose it over their rivals now.

I had the pleasure of eating here last Saturday. I went in looking to get a fish supper take away and ended up being so impressed with the absolute cleanliness and appearance of the place I decided to eat in.
